1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NAS] Join the biggest giveaway ever - Free NAS for everyone[+3000 spots left]! on: April 18, 2014, 07:08:02 PM
Hi guys, I have Java installed, downloaded NAS, unzipped, cd to NAS dir, then

java -cp nxt.jar;lib\*;conf nxt.Nxt          and instead of NRS starting it says  'lib: command not found' then a few lines down  'conf: command not found'

Any ideas?

Hi solarion and msin and Nxt community,

solarion, I hope you stick around and try another client after you set up a new Nxt account and verify that you have access with a few small NXT transfers. msin offered to reimburse solarion for his mistake in account creation. What other coin developers offer to replace lost money (coins) when end-users make mistakes?

Nxt is 5 months old. solarion lost $40 and was offered reimbursement from a Nxt community member. That is awesome! Keep up the good dev, testing, and new user education Nxt community!

I agree and particularly meshcoin to encourage wireless meshed networks supplying redundant backhaul.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=395761.msg5956815#msg5956815

above is from a bitcoin dev maaku, note:
"Because despite bitcoin being in the process of going mainstream and getting all sorts of attention from everybody, everywhere, the number of full nodes is declining."
...
"I don't want to cause undue fear and panic as with time and effort and education and innovation this situation is correctable. But if left to run its course this trend would mean the death of bitcoin."

Bitcoin needs nodecoin!

Still censored by Youtube and centralized networks:

This video is not available in your country.

Sorry about that.

^ LOL ^

This is what I see at Youtube at that link:

This works apparently.

How do we create incentive to maintain community based backhaul linked wireless mesh networking systems?

If we can answer that question we can solve the medium problem.

Hi CfB, ETA?

Hi. ~2015, coz I have to solve the problem of a medium. Internet can't be used for that coz it can be easily switched off. Wi-Fi Direct looks like a good candidate but broad/multicasting issue is not solved there yet.

Take a look at AX.25 amateur radio.

You have your quotes mixed up.  I made no such comparison of Facebook or Google +

Sincerely, Brian Snyder

ps thanks bitcoinpaul for alerting me of this inaccurate information.

Hi Nxt community,

It is after 2 am local PST time and I have been awake for 20 hours. I will post tomorrow both here and nxtforum.org with more specifics from Coinsumm.it. I have found an exchange in a Nordic country and another exchange in Mexico who both expressed interest in adding NXT to their exchanges. I will need to refer Nxt developers to both of those contacts to assist in exchange integration.

This thread will continue to serve as a potential learning and entry point for Nxt. Nxt as a community needs to continue to educate, welcome, and assist new Nxt users. Education is very important, nearly as important as a good user interface. The Nxt community should keep this thread operable to welcome new users. Good night everyone!

Hi Nxt community,

Many people are interested in NXT at Coinsumm.it. I hope my delivery of the Decentralized Applications panel speach was representative of the views, goals, and projects of the Nxt community. I have business and developer leads to bring to the Nxt community. Thanks for the opportunity to speak as an ambassador of Nxt.

Sincerely,
Brian Snyder

SSL is needed on the new Nxt forum immediately! Rickyjames stop spamming this thread. Do not close this thread, keep it open for reference.

Get SSL on nxtforum.org because every single person registering or logging in over there now is risking their passwords to plain text http transmission.

Sincerely,
Brian Snyder

Good morning Nxt community! I am at the airport terminal headed to Coinsumm.it to represent Nxt. Please get a certificate for nxtforum.org so I can rejoin the discussion over there and all of the Nxt community can use SSL to login securely.

I have not caught up on the thread from last night, so perhaps SSL for nxtforum.org has already been decided on.

Thanks to the Nxt community for the opportunity to represent the technology that Nxt is developing. Adam, it has been nice to have you here on the forum this evening and I look forward to meeting you and many others in the industry. Nxt is a complementary system to Bitcoin and Nxt is striving to deliver the best block chain based asset exchange possible.

Sincerely,
Brian Snyder

EDIT: Nxt has many capabilities and is a decentralized network. My opinion of what Nxt could be used for is different from other people who use the Nxt network. I am simply a representative sample of the Nxt community who is committed to enabling efficient global trade of information and resources.

Sorry about the link. The Offspring wallet can hold these long pass phrases in the wallet.dat. The user the uses a smaller password to unlock the wallet.dat

Adam, NXT passphrases need to be at least 50 sufficiently random characters. On my website nxtcoinmagazine.org I outline in red letters at the top the importance of a strong NXT passphrase.

I use a Yubikey to create the second part of an NXT passprase. The following link is a short video detailing the process.

Hi Adam,

I would be happy to interview while I am at Coinsumm.it. Good to see you on the forum.

Sincerely,
Brian Snyder

If you'd rather, I can interview the guy who is representing you at Coinsummit, or Kris.  I don't think it was a very good interview, were you talking to people on chat between answers, or typing our your response before speaking?  I was trying to figure that out lol.

I would like to see the new NXT forum have SSL. Thanks. Otherwise all of the user passwords are transmitted in plain text and could create an easily exploitable security risk for forum users. Sincerely, Brian Snyder

EDIT: Nxt wiki contributors also are sending passwords in plain text without SSL. EvilBob
could edit the wiki...
Nxt is in dared need of a 100% trust forum. Im wondering how long it will take until we get one. I believe community fund should fund a forum to get thing structure a bit. It good to be decentralized, but not desorganized.

I'm setting one up now and if opticalcarrier agrees it can be the new forums.nxtcrypto.org:

http://107.170.117.237

Can we get an SSL cert for it?  They are actually very cheap, I believe even free for a single server cert wwith startSSL.  If you order it with nxtcrypto.org domain then I will do the email part when it comes in.

But I wish I could get a domain-wide wildcard cert donated from infrastructure committee.  But they refused the request. So, JLP/CFB, please tell me your opinion on these light clients with client side signing, when they connect to VPSs, are SSL connections needed?  If so I will just disable SSL on all my VPSs and we can just forget about SSL altogether.

Except for forums  And also I wish we could get one for wiki, but the infrastructure commitee deems it unnecessary there as well.
Optical:
J-L has already pretty much removed HTTPS support from the NRS, and InfCom simply can't see the point of SSL certification, except as security theater, on NXTwork nodes.

And we haven't even debated the SSL cert for the wiki, Marcus03 said that he couldn't see the neccessity, but that wasn't exactly a debate. Convince us....

https://bitbucket.org/nxtinfrastructure/committee/issue/20/ssl-certificate-for-nxtcryptoorg
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=506757.msg5769027#msg5769027

Personally, I'd be happy to approve €68 for wiki protection, if it's actually necessary.

I do want to hear more input about SSL: yes or no, just not right now.

Hi EvilDave, that was me. I sent you an Arbitrary Message (with an unencrypted message) not a payment.

I just got ....nothing.

Someone just took the trouble to send me absolutely no NXT.....I'm confused.

Thanks, anyway, but WTF?

Good Morning Nxt community! This forum was a little unreliable last night; 502 Bad Gateway Errors from this forum. Now it seems to be under full attack by spammers and trolls. The price action and volume of NXT over the last few days has been impressive, showing that the smart money has moved into NXT. The Nxt community will continue to innovate at the edges of the network. Move the leading edges of Nxt communication from this forum please; post where you are headed if you want.
