Heads up marketing team...This is the second time I am repeating this, Just a pointer for a more effective marketing strategy, other than the guerrilla marketing we have been limited to. The other crypto 2.0 platforms are doing it right.

Solution: Create campaigns marketing directly to businesses who will IPO on the nxt blockchain, each of these businesses will then partially serve as autonomous marketing vehicle for the nxt platform

1) counterparty has got it right: They have got 7+ businesses plus Adam b Levine ready to go on their platform

2) watch the video bitshares video..Their main focus is to appeal to businesses http://bitshares.org/

This is why platforms like Apple app store, Amazon and ebay are so successful...The sellers and affiliate marketers on these platform actually work to promote their product listed there, which in in turn brings greater exposure to the platform. I have yet to see any consensus on a similar strategy..So if you are a key decision maker on the NXT marketing committee please think about this post, I should know I studied a bit of marketing in college and made a living working in the field for a while other than just writing code...

Just my 2 nxt..back to work.

Nxt's Achilles heel at the moment is marketing. Big time.

I have to disagree, it is divided on parts based on the tech stage where we are. We aren't still prepared for mainstream guys

I created this:

Journalists and crypto enthusiastics:
http://justpaste.it/nxt-introduction-4-journalists
- sent to:
https://i.imgur.com/HzoRQQ9.png
+ 50 journalists via emails (I won't reveal their email)
- thanks to our efforts we have finished scientific papers so we can finally show them to journalists

Exchanges and shops:
http://justpaste.it/accept-nxt
- sent to:
https://i.imgur.com/36PESUM.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/0GIBHfl.jpg
- but here it was too soon. We need worpress Nxt plugins, plugins for eshops. Then we can continue with this.

prepared:
Academic researchers
http://justpaste.it/nxt-intro-4-academics

in progress:
A letter for businessmen
- We can deal with them after we have easy working client + we need to show them some articles about Nxt in mainstream media

other stuff: http://107.170.117.237/index.php/board,31.0.html

@sebastien: Technical committee should be Technical Development, and I would prefer if u removed the word "proposals" from all 3 forum section titles.

Changed Smiley
If you can get me a short description of the activities of the IC (and maybe even TechDev) I'll put it there, too.
Just the names is not enough, imo.

Thanks, makker.
Yep, I'll post an InfCom mission statement in a while, want to get a bounty announcement ready to go as well, so that's first.
Well, coffee is first, then I'll put the bounty ann. together, then post it and an introducton, so u can leave it in my capable paws.

Whay aren't u in bed, btw?

It's Saturday night, ffs!
Also, watching TV and forgot the time.

think of the poor little girl who wants to incorporate her lemonade stand. she literally has 1 dollar worth of assets. or the poor african who wants to buy a shovel and doesn't even have enough to do that. sure if the advantages are great enough than im willing to say screw um. but it just isnt anymore, the advantages are VERY minor at this point.

I wasn't able to read the end of ur post coz of tears in my eyes.

I'm working on market-set fees code.

PLEASE give us a write up of the overall design/operation

Nxt is in dared need of a 100% trust forum. Im wondering how long it will take until we get one. I believe community fund should fund a forum to get thing structure a bit. It good to be decentralized, but not desorganized.

I'm setting one up now and if opticalcarrier agrees it can be the new forums.nxtcrypto.org:

http://107.170.117.237

Can we get an SSL cert for it?  They are actually very cheap, I believe even free for a single server cert wwith startSSL.  If you order it with nxtcrypto.org domain then I will do the email part when it comes in.

But I wish I could get a domain-wide wildcard cert donated from infrastructure committee.  But they refused the request. So, JLP/CFB, please tell me your opinion on these light clients with client side signing, when they connect to VPSs, are SSL connections needed?  If so I will just disable SSL on all my VPSs and we can just forget about SSL altogether.

Except for forums  And also I wish we could get one for wiki, but the infrastructure commitee deems it unnecessary there as well.

BTW, sent both you and ^[GS]^ a PM on nxtcrypto. You've both put a lot of work in there, as have the language specific subforum mods! I would not want to let that go unnoticed!
Please respond to it when you have time and inclination Smiley

Optical:
J-L has already pretty much removed HTTPS support from the NRS, and InfCom simply can't see the point of SSL certification, except as security theater, on NXTwork nodes.

And we haven't even debated the SSL cert for the wiki, Marcus03 said that he couldn't see the neccessity, but that wasn't exactly a debate. Convince us....

https://bitbucket.org/nxtinfrastructure/committee/issue/20/ssl-certificate-for-nxtcryptoorg
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=506757.msg5769027#msg5769027

Personally, I'd be happy to approve €68 for wiki protection, if it's actually necessary.

I do want to hear more input about SSL: yes or no, just not right now.

since we are doing non-unique names we may as well lower the price of issuing an asset down to the same price as any other transaction. (0.1nxt as it stand now i think right)

can anyone think of a good reason not to?

Let's leave it as is to keep entry barrier high enough. To limit number of scam attempts.

Good idea, especially at start.

Yes someone will DDOS the AE by creating loads of assets... we should not make the price too low.

I disagree.  There are MUCH more effective ways to spam the blockchain.  We DO however, need to increase the number of digits used for asset IDs. to allow for more assets to be created.

I do believe we should allow alisases to expire.  Consider that AM's will be purged periodcally, as a spam prevention.  Well, RIGHT NOW, its better to spam blockchain with alias reassignment, and this is PERMANENT.  So not only will alias expiration more ably counter spam, but it allows reuse if owner dies with no plan for continued usage of alias.  Of course, we should allow a time period for owner to be able to renew before others can grab it.

And whenever DNS comes around, those records should expire as well, as well as with the ability of the owner to renew before any one else, if the owner is still alive.

Even though I own a LOT of aliases (spent some exciting nights back in December searching and registering them  Grin) I see the wisdom in this and would not mind at all.
Just registering and then being able to "sit" on them indefinitely is not good business practice and would put a lot of people/businesses off.

If only for the fact that I may go away of die of even lose the passphrase to an alias owning account, this is wisdom, or even common sense.  Smiley

A "renewal window" would be good though. I wouldn't want to sit behind the screen and do this feverish run again.

+1 please post this in Nxt imporvement forum section... lol

Thank you very much for the bounty.
The last time I came up with those two flaws (i think I came up with them here in the thread) I got laughed at and so I forgot about it.
Now I, just for the sake of it, posted them in the bounty thread and one of them was the 100,000 NXT hit  Grin

Thank you very much for the fast payout. Now that I own this many NXT (which I will of course hold) I would like to contribute my part to the project. I have still doubts about the account mining issue ;-) I have made a small reference implementation (which I would never make public except give it to the devs) which is capable of doing 10 Megahashes (or Megaaccounts) per second on a simple CPU. At some point in the future, this might be an issue.

LOL so a few weeks ago all the hell you were raising here and just being sort of an ass, was not really about the live code that we run now, it was really just the old code with the injected flaw? LOL

but, seriously, congrats on the score.

I have about 10 projects I'm working on in the user-created-asset space - If I were you guys, I would set up a long term, outcome oriented bounty program.  Here's what I suggested Invictus do with their 10% of their 5 million US dollar warchest to build the comunity

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3448.msg43334#msg43334

If you guys had something like that, it would be more compelling for people building projects to pick your platform and compete for the prize.  It also is in their best interest to start building as soon as possible because its a race that's already started.   There are a lot of options out there, if you create a predictable, rewarding environment for people to build on you'll be very attractive.

Hi Adam! Nice to see you on here.

Have you tried out our new asset exchange and colored coins?

You can play on the testnet if you haven't already. Just click here: http://nxtra.org/nxt-client/

The client is simple and intuitive. You can pick it up in 5 minutes.

We'll send you some test coins if you need them. Just post your account # here.

It seems to me that it makes sense to make AE as popular as it possibly can be. If need be, it can be changed later, but you get one chance to make a first impression. There are people who can't get over Nxt's initial distribution, regardless of the current or potential future state. I think making the biggest splash, creating the most good will, and hopefully influencing the greatest amount of adoption, is what should be aimed for here.

The alternative could be to give up as little as possible, and give ground when the market forces you to, but perhaps always be seen as the Apple of networks. Rather than giving the most generous gift possible to the world, and then making adjustments along the way when needed. I could see there being lasting resentment regardless of the relative value one way, and lasting appreciation regardless of the relative value the other.

Polluting of the AE with spam and trash assets. It will be kept at 1000nxt for introduction of AE to keep it clean, then in the future another solution will be decided. From what I understand reading the posts in this thread.

like i said, there are MUCH more effective ways to perm spam the blockchain than AE.  just create a loooong alias name, and set its value to a looooooong string of hex digits.  then resend, again, again, etc.

With non unique names, there is no reason for it to be large as 1000 NXT.  Especially if we will increase the number of possible assets by using more digits.

Can someone mind to explain what this is: 1739068987193023818 with: -999'997'009.00

http://www.mynxt.info/blockexplorer/details.php?action=ac&ac=1739068987193023818

Is it a anomaly?

How did u find it?

Why does it matter how? Dunno, I found it some other day.... but what the heck is it?

I made the same mistake myself. This is the Genesis account, where all NXT come from ;-)

Hey, I just wanted to say congratulations on finding the fatal flaw.  I hope to see you around these parts more often.

Offtopic: BTW, I saw that a user decided to rate you unfairly due to bringing up a potential flaw in Bitcoin.  Deciding not to participate in that transaction malleability thread because of that is your choice, but perhaps demonstrating the flaw with a malleability exploit would be a better solution to the negative feedback.  Wink
