Selling obsolete mining tech? Moderately shady. But making it seem like they're doing 'customers' a favor, and that they're motivation is to protest the US Marshal's auction - that's just misleading and idiotic.
OP has been set to ignore.
I think this is where the phrase "shoot the messenger" came from. None the less it might be obsolete tech, but so is that cell phone, tablet, computer, or any other tech you bought last month. its still cheaper than anyplace else your going to find them. Just our 2 bits worth. The difference being, the sole purpose of the cell phone, tablet, and computer isn't to make you money. The sole purpose of an ASIC is just that, so if it cannot do that job, then it is effectively worthless. Oh, there must be a least a few people who buy miners primarily to secure the network. ... *birds chirping* In a perfect place and a perfect world. Sadly we live in a world of capitalists, nobody has any values or motivations except for money. At least in the Crypto world nobody has any other motive or intention other than to capitalize and profit. A person could count the souls that actually truly care about the coin they mine whether it profits or otherwise on two hands.

Sorry, but i see a new account with only 2 posts. both of those posts in this thread. that also has a bitcoin address listed in its profile which possesses 0 bitcoin. I find 0 TX record posted, 0 signs that you sent any payment to this site. Something tells me you are either here to troll or you yourself are in the hardware business and are trying to damage your competition. Because i have found dozens of people who have ordered from them through reddit who had nothing but good things to say.
Post some proof that you were scammed or forever be branded a liar for crying wolf for your own malicious reasons.

Hi all, sorry were late to the party. First let me say, Seriouscoin you should be ashamed of yourself and your childish rude behavior especially talking about a mans child dying. You sir are a disgrace to the people of this forum. Second, i just wanted to drop in and confirm that we have been, and are handling escrow for Cyrious Technologies and their miner sales. To streamline the process as a result of a large influx in escrow requests we have made a semi pre-filled escrow agreement for you to fill out which can be found here: http://www.thebitcoinsociety.org/BEACYR.pdfSimply fill out the form and mail it to admin@thebitcoinsociety.org , we will e-mail you back the signed form with the payment address and amount where you can send the funds to. Please do not write us inquiring about the Jackhammer miner, we are merely the escrow agent and do not have the information you are looking for. We are legally bound by an NDA that we cannot discuss anything that we saw, see, read, or hear in our dealings with Cyrious Technologies. Thank you,

This contest will end when a suitable article meeting the criteria has been submitted and we will announce the winner in this thread.
You should put the prize money in escrow, not that I don't trust you...
Would be pretty silly for people to put time and effort into this and not receiving a prize.
You can check our trust comments, we have always paid. ALWAYS for any work that is done, articles that are published, or anything else which payment is due. We will not be placing funds in escrow for a contest in which we have received 1 viable entry for thus far. Its part of the publication agreement. We cannot publish it until you have signed it, you dont sign it until your article is chosen as the winner and payment is made. Its the way the legal system works with publishing. So what if you get no more entries, would the one guy who submitted an article win? almost 2 pages of "what if" & "you should" now and 1 viable entry in weeks, i think we are going to officially cancel the contest and hire a writer directly to write the piece. Thank you to the one person who made a submission, unfortunately without others to judge against it is impossible to have a "contest" as the only reason we were offering such a high prize was to have access to choose from several submissions for the best one Vs. just paying a professional writer $100 to write 1 piece and publish it. Ridiculous, that one person put effort into writing an article and now you're cancelling the contest? This is unethical at the least and I'd consider it a scam. As we had to remind the idiot who posted above you, a scam is when someone takes something from someone or cons someone into giving up something with promise of payment which is not received. We offered to hold a contest for which people could submit articles for consideration of publishing if they won against other submissions. In this case there were no other submissions so there was no contest. And for the idiot who posted above you, maybe you should spend more time working on your English and writing skills and less time thinking you are going to get paid for garbage in which no publication would publish. Its funny when you type the word scam into google and this website fills the second page, 80% of the children on here use that word for ANYTHING that makes them unhappy. So let us help you have better understanding of what your favorite 4 letter word actually is. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/scamNow please feel free to carry on with your banter as we ourselves focus on more important things, like the future and awareness of bitcoin

who are you? who is in this society?
I work for The Bitcoin Society if that answers your question as to who i am, and The Society is filling with writers, promoters, and people who care about the future of bitcoin. Anyone can be "in" the society so long as they contribute in one way or another either educating, sharing information, or spreading bitcoin awareness. We are at a soft launch phase right now, sort of getting our feet underneath us. Once we have enough volunteers who care about bitcoins future we will collectively as a whole ( meaning everyone as a group, not dictated by one individual ) decide on how things operate, how we promote, what information is deemed important and the best ways to educate the world.

Looking for an open discussion from webmasters and site owners on which "free bitcoin" affiliate programs they use and which ones work best. I am looking to stay away from gambling sites, sites which require you to invest bitcoin, or exchanges. This is for newcomers to bitcoin who do not yet trust it enough to buy it, or do not want to invest in hardware as we all know that mining is a dead evolution if you are not already several TH/s into the game already. I'll start off with the sites i already use to avoid duplicates: Qoin Pro: I am rather new to this site and from what i can tell thus far the payouts are VERY low. In their defense they are a new venture and they do have promise of increasing daily payouts. I have about a dozen referrals so far and am still only making about .00000001_878 ( they for some reason use fractions of a satoshi ) i think its to give the appearance that you are getting more for free. If the payout does in fact increase with site age i think this is a good platform. FreeBitco.in: I have been with this website since its inception almost and have been getting massive payouts thus far, in total i am over .9 btc to date. What i like about this platform is that i do not have to do anything at all in terms of maintenance to keep the payouts coming. I dont have to log in to request a payout as they are automatic, i dont have to do anything myself in order to "earn" what i should already have coming to me for the referral, and their stat tracking is great. BitToClick: I am newer to this site as well and have not invested many pixels on my web properties in promoting this site as the only commissions an affiliate receives is a VERY small share of an already small payout for clicking on a link to a website and viewing it for a few seconds. This site could use a ton of improvements to its affiliate program IMHO as for webmasters pixels = Money, or BTC in this instance. I am waiting to see how this site turns out in terms of referral program to see if it will be worth the pixel investment. Another site i have looked into is Land of Bitcoin, although as of now i do not see any form of rewards for affiliates or for getting people to create accounts, maybe somebody knows something i dont but as of now i see no rewards. Please share your experiences as a webmaster with affiliate programs, and please keep it to FREE BTICOIN sites that do not require an investment or are not casino or exchange links. Thanks to all you webmasters who share your experiences with the rest of us to help us find the best sites possible to affiliate for. [referrals removed - grue]

if you want everyone to understand it, may I suggest no minimum amount of words and allow graphics ?
Graphics are perfectly fine, the word count is for SEO purposes, without it there is no point in investing tens of thousands into a website, 800 words is not a lot of words, the average paragraph is about 350 so its really a 3 paragraph article. If you spend a paragraph on "What is Bitcoin"? and two paragraphs on "how it works" you are pretty much done. We are all for graphics if you want to include them with the article. We would need a copyright release form for each one though. its not about how many words we can write, personally I can make a whole monograph about bitcoin functionality. It is about how much time people are willing to invest reading an article about bitcoin. And again, its about three paragraphs to make 800 words. $200 prize for 3 paragraphs is 100X more than we pay our in house writers. Beyond that if people dont have 4 minutes to read 3 paragraphs, they defiantly do not have the patience top deal with bitcoin confirmations and would probably be best to stick to fiat.

Contest canceled due to a month of inactivity and lack of response As we continue development of our website and continue to grow, we get asked almost daily. What is Bitcoin? and, How does it work? Everyone from the offices below us in our building, the mail man, the building manager, the painters that came in, even the girl at the coffee shop across the street. For the time being as we are working on our infrastructure and website, we have to refer them to bitcoin.org or other spinoffs that have explanations and the result is always the same. The next time we see them, they just have a blank stare on their face and reply with.... " I dont get it". Now with that being said, take into consideration that most information available with a quick google search is written by Nerds, Techies, and Geeks like myself. When read by other Nerds, Techies and geeks, it makes perfect sense. If not, most of us spend at least 5 hours a day behind our computers and we set out on a google mission until we find the answer we are looking for. Lets face it, grandma and grandpa, sometimes even mom and dad, even after watching the cheesy video or reading an article are still left scratching their heads. It seems the members of this forum need a little motivation to write as our previous attempts at getting input have failed. So we have decided to host a contest and offer a $200 prize to the winner who gets their article published. Contest rules:Your article must comprehensively cover what Bitcoin is and how it works in laymen terms without being to heavy on technical explanations. Think birds and bees talk with your kids, not full on human anatomy and biology. The article must be a minimum of 800 words. The article must be an original work and will be checked heavily for copyright infringement and duplicate web content. The author of the winning article must sign and submit a copy of our publication agreement before they will be paid. All articles must be submitted in private message on this forum or to admin@thebitcoinsociety.org , Posting your article as a reply in this thread will be an automatic disqualification as it instantly makes the article useless for SEO as it will be duplicate content. The author acknowledges that upon payment the article becomes the sole property of The Bitcoin Society and they release all legal rights This contest will end when a suitable article meeting the criteria has been submitted and we will announce the winner in this thread.
