What's going on with the BTC/NOTE pair on Mercatox?

Completely stopped trading, crashed the price just when we were eking out some upward momentum. Back to all time lows.

Any plans to develop more exchange relationships? NOTE needs more than just Mercatox listing, right?

Not sure, maybe just a glitch? I don't see a crash in the history on Mercatox, so I assume it was a temporary problem.

Currently our primary exchanges are STEX and Mercatox. Being on more smaller exchanges will not have a significant impact, especially when considering the cost of listing on many of the small exchanges. They generally don't bring you traffic or exposure or volume, or even 'cred'. The smaller exchanges are only active when there are significant arbitrage opportunities or where there are larger exchanges leading, so there is no value added at this time. There may come a time when that does make sense, when DNotes is on an upswing of participation and price, to help the momentum and give us the extra push needed to get on the larger exchanges. Right now it would just be an additional burden to worry about.

A larger and more credible exchange, such as binance, is highly desirable, but those exchanges aren't going to list us without significantly more support and/or significant funds.

Our focus is revenue, funding, and growing our potential user base. All of which will aid in the exchange issue and HERo is the platform that will create the opportunity to grow in all of those areas.

This all makes complete sense. Thanks for the color. I get the big exchange stuff, I mean look at the Digibyte founder unloading at Binance on Twitter the other day, RE: the fees they demanded to be listed. That makes sense.

But didn't see the smaller exchange listing logic as you laid it out. Make sense, especially from a defocusing point of view.

I think it would be a good risk mitigation measure to have at least one other tracked exchange listing DNotes. Mercatox bug one day, cut the price by 50%. Perhaps good to have another one, to mitigate scenarios like this in future, imo. So it's not some big strategic endeavor that takes time from more pressing dev tasks. But rather just a line item task/tactic to provide some downside protection.

HERo Membership Live

HERo membership is now in live beta. We welcome everyone to sign up and start using the platform. Let us know any issues or suggestions you may have to make it a better platform by clicking the Need Help link at the bottom of the membership page or emailing contact@nextgenhero.io.

I have signed up and for now everything is working perfectly Smiley

Did you get a lot of feedback and do you expect that you will have to change a lot of things? When do you expect to go out of Beta and fully launch membership platform?

Hey guys, fun to see this getting off the ground. I registered and went to pay with Dnotes. All my Dnotes are at DNotesVault, so I initiated a withdrawal from the Vault to the address given to me on HERo.

But the withdrawal is 24-48 hours, and HERo is nearly done with a 15 minute counter.

Any plans to integrate payment from the two sites? Or am I doing it wrong (likely).

Iran’s Govt Issues New Rules on Cryptocurrency

https://dcebrief.com/irans-govt-issues-new-rules-on-cryptocurrency/

We are amidst the next great Crypto Boom. And DNotes is now at 20 satoshis and falling.

From Paul Graham's Twitter a few days ago...
"The reason most founders are surprised by the difficulty of fundraising is that they're learning something about themselves, not something about fundraising. They know fundraising is hard for startups that don't seem appealing to investors. They just didn't realize they had one."

I've always appreciated the DNotes project. But as it currently stands, there seems to be zero sense of urgency. This project has lost 98% of it's value. And there is little revenue to support funding.

How is the team going to position itself to benefit from this next boom cycle? HERo is a nice idea, but I have been on the Board of a rapidly growing non-profit called MakerGirl, for years. I can tell you that even the most well-marketed, well-meaning projects in the female empowerment space....are still incredibly hard to grow in terms of revenue. Let alone projects which are couched themselves in niches like blockchain.

What else do we got, besides HERo? Any technology or blockchain innovations coming down the line (moving to PoS was always a great North Star for the community to point to)? What other markets and use cases is DNotes approaching?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Staking, CRISP Interest, DNotes Pay on: July 15, 2019, 04:54:39 AM
Down 30% against USD and 23% against Bitcoin, today alone.

NOTE is sitting at less than 1/2 of a penny. Less than 43 satoshis per Note, right now.. Even on debut in early 2014, dang near 6 years ago, we haven't seen these valuations.

And we are supposed to be in a crypto bull market. It's just...really disappointing. And I dont say that as a fly by night person. Been backing this project since inception. Hence the real emotional sadness that comes with watching literally the entire sector outperform.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Staking, CRISP Interest, DNotes Pay on: July 05, 2019, 06:12:52 PM
Thanks MiningHabit for your support all of these years. It has indeed been a long road chock-full of challenges.

The short and sweet answer is that we have not acquired the investment we are looking for in order to push DNotes forward and the pushback from investors is mostly that we are not a proven revenue generating company. Not exactly surprising, but we were certainly hopeful we would find the right investor that could see our vision and potential. So the focus now is to make DNotes Global a revenue generating company. We intend to do that with HERo, not only as a revenue generating media site but also building a collaborative membership program into it. The project is well under way and we should be able to launch it fairly soon. In the meantime, we have been growing our network in preparation for the launch.

Nailed it Joe. I noticed that the Twitter account posted a few summary slides the day and moments before my post. Those were a nice set of broad answers, but left up my post since I think there was still some getting down to brass tacks that the board could benefit from.

Glad I did, since this is a great answer. To the point, and a frank admission of the main fundraising pain point.

Are there other irons in the fire, beyond HERo? With initiatives like MakerGirl, I'm a huge advocate for female empowerment, and appreciate this initiative ever since it was CryptoMoms.

How's the custom software business going? And the consulting services business? What are the plans to grow those, and can you tell us on the board a little bit more about them (not so much in terms what they are, but more in terms of how we're executing on growing them)?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Staking, CRISP Interest, DNotes Pay on: July 05, 2019, 12:28:28 AM
Hi everyone, Happy Fourth for those on this board in the US.

As I sit and reflect on some positions during the downtime between festivities this afternoon, one of the things I wanted to do was inquire as to the state of this project. The opportunity cost of holding seems to be tipped on the wrong side of the line for the first time that I can remember.

I've been backing this project, and this team, since the genesis block. I've really appreciated other projects like Enigma, Polymath, ChainLink, Encrypgen, and hold DNotes in the same esteem. But, after over 5 years of HODLing, there comes a point where analysis of the initial logic is needed.

Hoping to hear some validation of the growth prospects DNotes still has. The price action, during a parabolic move upward for the space as a whole, has stagnated during the same timeframe (beginning of December). Board activity, social media inventiveness and proactive marketing, seem to be tailing off as well.

I tried reading stuff from the last few pages, and the answers are exhausting and overlong. Separate the umbra from the penumbra. Concise statement of direction and prospects.

Senate Banking Committee Hearing Offers Two Opposing Views on Crypto

https://dcebrief.com/senate-banking-committee-hearing-offers-two-opposing-views-on-crypto/

Actually, one view and one idiotic rant from someone who should not be speaking in public on ANY subject.

You're not wrong. As a rule, we should all be skeptical of anyone whose first response to technological innovation is to cast shade and call it a scam or a worthless idea with no real potential. I'm old enough to remember when people I knew and respected confidently predicted that personal computers would never catch on. Many of those same people later laughed at the idea that the internet would ever amount to anything more than a curiosity.

The more things change, the more some things - and people - remain the same.

In this instance it appears that both are somewhat correct, but Roubini - having a rather critical view and potential set of entrenched interests to pursue by keeping cryptocurrency at bay - is hammering home just what he sees before him, and focusing more on how people are using a new technology, rather than the technology itself. Sometimes, even though there is a ton of crap in our industry that needs to be resolved (like all new things), it takes a while until people really learn how technology will end up being used in a practical sense. This is one of the things that DNotes and DNotes Global Inc. has been intensely focusing on.

Technologies always evolve and never started out perfect. Together, we make it near perfect over a long period of time. We have seen it in personal computers, wireless communication, the Internet, and more.

We are witnessing the greatest technology revolution since the internet.  But this is significantly bigger and more widespread allowing for true global participation of up to 90% of the global population by 2027 with full implementation of the next generation of cell phone – G5.

Since the wealthiest 3% own a larger amount than the remaining 97% global wealth, digital currency with its underpinning block technology has positive world-changing implications. Direct payment between two parties without the participation of a third party makes it possible for the first time in human history to have a technology that provides equal opportunity and participation globally in micro payment, micro investment and other funding programs.

I am concerned about the ruthless culture and rampant bad behavior in our industry. Light-touch regulations are highly appropriate. Our law makers should seek to encourage but not stifle innovations that can help change the world for the better.  Equal opportunity to participate irrespective of wealth, status, or locale is world-changing. Let’s work together to change the culture – fairer and more trustworthy.

Roubini's attitude is juvenile, offensive and combative. No different than the early Internet really. There will always be those who speak from a position of knowledge and those that speak from a position of fear and hatred of anything new that threatens their narrow, focused idea of what is good and what is bad. Roubini also speaks from a position of fear and an obvious bias against that which may threaten the only system he knows. He is not the "expert" everyone thinks he is. He got lucky in 2008 like many others that made the same prediction. He, however, stands out because he is an arrogant ass that shouts above the noise in his need to be recognised. I said he was an ass then and I will continue to support that position. Nothing has changed in that regard. Hopefully, Congress is smarter than him.

"Equal opportunity to participate irrespective of wealth" Well said Alan, that is what crypto is all about and we must work to preserve that.

Roubini is a joke. Great Mic Drop tweet from Willywoo earlier today

Original tweet: "@Nouriel is an extraordinary talented propagandist! Notice that everything he says about the general scam industry (#blockchain/#crypto) is true, while everything he says about #Bitcoin is a lie. The conflating of the two is not by accident."

Roubini's Reply: "In which way I am 99% right on all my arguments but Bitcoin? Bitcoin is worthless like all other shit-coins. And it is not a currency: not a unit of account, not a means of payment, not a stable store of value (lost 70& of value in 2018), used by no one. It is same garbage."

@woonomic's pwnage: "The 20m people who have bought bitcoin with fiat would disagree that Bitcoin is worthless. Of course a Keysian professor of economics will say a nascent Austrian school currency will be worthless in the face of an adoption curve that continues to double every year."

Roubini at this point is just a walking, talking embodiment of outmoded and failed 20th Century economics. And with the way he tweets and the volume at which he shouts, he's petty. A petty, loud ideologue who is out of his depth and wrong AF. So annoying. I'm permamuted him from my brain for the most part.

Great work on the press release Joe, we have made another significant stride with DNotes Pay and the payment platform will evolve significantly going forward as we develop alongside increased funding to make it a leading payment method that incorporates blockchain-based automated invoicing. I'm very impressed by what we have achieved with a small volunteer team thus far.

I have arrived in the USA, having flown from Australia to spend some time closer to the rest of the team, which makes it much easier to communicate directly with one another in person and in the same time zone.

I also note that the market appears to be having a good week, hopefully some of that sentiment will benefit DNotes.

Nice! You around Chicago at all the next few weeks?

I was having a conversation yesterday with a customer and I told them about Dnotes. In the end they were super intrigued and love what they've read since. I Think they definitely qualify as a accredited investor, however not sure if they are. But It was cool to see incredibly high class individuals Read into it and be hooked for more. I knew the minute I dug into dnotes 4+ years ago that I was hooked. You guys are definitely doing things right. Thanks for all the hard work!

Appreciate it mrbum805, it is amazing to still see DNotes supporters that have been here since the very beginning like yourself. This has already been excellent year for DNotes, including a much anticipated blockchain upgrade and wallet, successful coin swap, new features added including CRISP and invoice integration, Electrum, initial DNotes Pay, and the start of our funding efforts among other things. With much more to come, very exciting.

Best paragraph in the entire 256 pages of this thread! In a few sentences, you encapsulate a mammoth amount of work, and what's more, successful progress. Kudos to you and the team. Personally, over the years, there's been spots where I've been a touch impatient. And yet, no matter what, everyone here from the team is always patient beyond years, laser focused on doing the right things at the proper time.

The patience of Job, you guys.

Shane, [12.07.18 11:58]
[In reply to Tim Gogginnz]
That’s very exciting and thanks for the link to the press release. Will there be updates on the progress (for example - current running total for amounts raised?)

Tim Gogginnz, [12.07.18 12:00]
Once we hit certain thresholds I imagine we will let the community know.

Alan Yong, [12.07.18 12:20]
I will provide updates at the appropriate time. It typically takes a lot of ground-work and "hand-holding".  I do not want to build up false expectation or get ahead of "potential".  Be patience. This could take a few months of highly focused efforts.

For anyone in the community, just want to back this up. Having raised VC myself, I can say that it is a stressful, time-consuming, energy-sapping business activity.

Patience is absolutely the watchword. I don't envy the job Alan and team have ahead of them. Raising capital is just painstakingly not-fun.

We have been filming for the blockchain super stars documentary

https://bitcoinmarketshare.com/blockchain-superstars-tv-series/

I just saw this today. Super cool! Anything more you can mention on the show? The article gave a nice teaser, but there was little on detail. Documentary or journalistic type show? Reality TV type of thing? Apprentice style competition? Other?

Mercatox is shady. No bad experiences with them myself as I have avoided them based on the experiences of others but mercatox has a long history of shady practices that are well documented especially when the price of XRB (now Nano) climbed exponentially in December. People had their coins locked up for months on there. I would not be surprised at all if what you are noticing is very real. I would also advise not using mercatox moving forward.

I don't think this is correct at all.

And I can say that with near certainty, since I was buying up RaiBlocks/Nano at exactly that time. Mercatox was fantastic. Still is. BitGrail was the other exchange that was active with Nano, and that turned out to be a gigantic scam. https://cointelegraph.com/news/strange-twists-and-turns-of-nano-and-bitgrail-since-the-150-mln-hack

I got lucky with BitGrail and was able to withdraw my Nano. But I think you may be mixing up the two exchanges.

Wanted to clear that up so the community can hear another data point, one based on of months of direct, personal experience, as opposed to hearsay.

As always, stay informed and make up your own mind tho. Stay safe out there.

Alan I think the requirement that our community members be forced to participate in an ICO is preposterous. Since seeing the first ICO's launched 4 years ago, I've refused to participate in a single one of the hundreds I've researched, and don't plan on starting anytime soon.

I'm as non risk-averse as they come. I make a lot of moves that no sane financial advisor would condone, but that's because my risk profile is a certain way. I'm comfortable making high variance moves with non-trivial amounts of Risk of Ruin.

But ICOs are where I draw the line. I've staunchly refused to participate in a single one. And like you, I don't ever plan on that changing.

If you just wanted to keep track of your staking, you can import any address as a watch only address as well. That way you can keep an eye on your staking wallet results.

This is exactly my use case: monitoring my DNotesVault address and it's staking. Works perfectly. Nice UI. Really like the app icon.

I have submitted the request to add Mercatox and Stocks Exchange trading pairs to Coin Market Cap. It could still take a bit of time, but I don't anticipate it will take too long. It is important that we have sustainable volume as well.

500,000 notes traded yesterday is an awesome start to building said momentum!

You are correct about the "scorecard" aspect of CMC, which is maybe less relevant to DNotes than it might be to other coins. However, an active listing there will be most helpful for me (and I'm sure I speak for others too) in establishing tax basis and determining income for all those newly minted DNotes entering my wallet. I use CoinTracking.info, which runs APIs from both CMC and Cryptocoin Charts in determining historical prices. During the gap where we aren't actively listed on CMC (and I assume Cryptocoin Charts--or maybe that's where the 0.004 USD price is coming from), I'm going to have to go back to each individual minting transaction and manually enter the actual price based on the data I've recorded from my DNotes market reports, and then probably make a guess as to what the actual price was before I started producing those reports. It will be very nice to have that be automatic again.

As long as we're working on getting active on CMC again, could we also reach out to Cryptocoin Charts to make sure its information on DNotes is also accurate?

Ah, really great point. Didn't think of that kinda thing at all.

I wouldn't have either, but 2017 taxes was a rude awakening for me on that point. One of the coins I got into, STEEM, I recently chose to get out of. Why? Because its block chain is built in such a way that accurate record keeping is basically impossible. I call it Tax time pain in the butt factor. And it's a real issue.

"Tax time pain in the butt factor." That may remain an industry problem for years to come.

Yeah, my taxes this year sucked. Especially from all the ETH mining that I did.

Here's my default: I just say that my cost bases is 0 where at all posssible. Which means I pay more in Cap gains and Income tax, but it's worth the much smaller headache than being exact with records.

Annoying that all of the convolution forces me to do tax suboptimal thing for the sake of expediency and not wanting to defenestrate whilst doing taxes, ha!
