1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Minexcoin - A new era of payments (ICO closed!) on: September 04, 2017, 07:04:35 PM
For anyone else having trouble parking, I was able to park my coins after initially not being able to see my coins in MinexBank. I made the mistake of signing a new receiving address instead of using the exact same address I had moved my coins to. I'm probably an idiot and I'm the only one this happened to,  but just thought I'd post in case anyone else was having trouble.

I've set up my MinexBank account and signed a message (and verified it) but I still can't see any coins to park. I can see the coins in my wallet, no problem. But can't get them to show up on the MinexBank. Anyone else experience this issue?

If someone buys 5,000 LGDs on Bittrex, do they automatically have a membership? Or do you have to buy a separate membership somehow? I'm curious about this for friends and business associates who would be in Vegas from time to time (even if I can't be very often).

Not yet. They've postponed to June but no more details than that.

Darkproton, R-Ando:

So you're suggesting that MasterNodes be able to compare data traffic to a community-defined description of CP and then exclude any matches, is that correct?

Let me describe your proposal in a way that might help you understand why your idea is completely untenable, and counter to the very idea of DarkCoin:

"Hey, everyone, our MasterNode network is completely secure and anonymous! Well, except for the fact that we look at everything to make sure it's not CP. But we TOTES won't use that function to look at your stuff! And there will NEVER be a breach that would allow that to happen! C'mon guys! Guys? Hey, where did everybody go. . .?"

Congratulations. You just killed Dark Coin.

Who, in their right mind, would allow their transactions to be monitored by a system that is supposedly anonymous?! Even if it were for all the right reasons, there is no way you could PAY me to put my private transactions through a network that is DESIGNED to not be secure.

Explain to me how your idea isn't a complete disaster for Dark Coin?

R-Ando,

"Well why wouldn't they just go and directly spy on terrorists instead?"

You mean the same way they can go and spy on pedophiles directly as well? Any argument you can make for DarkTor and it's value to society applies to porn as well.

Sorry, mate, you're trying to eliminate car accidents by taking away freeways. You've found a solution in search of a problem. It works better the other way around.

R-Ando,

Your conclusion is incorrect. Eliminating pornography from DarkTor (even if such a thing were technically feasible) would NOT make it easier to fight government involvement in DarkTor. The government may say that spying on its citizens is necessary because of all the horrible things that happen in the Internet's dark alleys, but the real reason is because it simply wants control over its citizens. Have you ever watched a politician on TV that didn't seem to think he knew better than you?

So let's pretend you can eliminate porn from DarkTor transactions. Do you think the government won't continue to make it's case for spying on you based on terrorism issues alone? Or that it won't bring other issues into the argument (human trafficking, drugs, illegal xBox mods, etc)? When you take away a thief's access to a particular house, is it plausible to think he'll stop being a thief, or more likely he'll simply pick another house?

What's interesting to me is that you've held up the dual pillars of pornography and terrorism and argued that by eliminating one, you neuter the government's argument against DarkTor, making it easier to fight them.

Why did you choose pornography?

Why not choose terrorism? Which is worse for a society? You want to eliminate boobies, but blowing up kids in a crowded market is okay? Your choice says something about how you view the world. If you examine your choice a little deeper and try to imagine eliminating the "pillar" you didn't choose, you might discover how impossible what you're proposing really is.

DRK is cash, plain and simple. What you're suggesting is that cash be used for all goods and services known to humanity, except one.

Huh?!

God you're a cunt, Camosoul. I don't know who I dislike more on these forums, the trolls, or your useless and constant "stupid people done be stupid" schtick. It gets old, like you.

Hey guys, trying to shutdown my masternodes. I have them pointed to a machine that is no longer running, was a vm. In windows qt, I issue command masternode stop and I get not implemented yet. Not sure how to stop it.

DRK is unstoppable Tongue

lol!  Grin Grin

All this stuff in these posts sound good and stuff but I just wonder what that hard fork will bring....

got a little scared that would mean dumping time!

I think it's a safe bet to assume there'll be another hard fork later on to fix bugs that appear live. The masternode payment system is a complex system and its doubtful that testnet has evaluated all possible scenarios where it can break.

I find it remarkable that someone, somewhere, even a complete Luddite, managed to avoid hearing about BitCoin's hardfork(s), and exactly what it is and what it means. Unless you were very literally born yesterday, how can you manage to avoid knowing this?

You watch crypto and you've never heard of a hardfork? Really? Is this even real? Have I entered the Twilight Zone?

The last several pages of really, really, really stupid posts have made me wonder if the thread just got hit by hired dummies here to make a mess... There's no way anyone who knows even the first thing about crypto can be asking the questions I'm seeing... How much are these people being paid to act like this?

Hey, Camosoul, you seem pretty thin-skinned. If these sorts of posts set you off like this, maybe you don't have the temperament for cryptocurrency investment.

What about "Brights" for the lowest DRK denomination?

I like the idea of playing against the dark theme.

Just my 2 Brights.

Can someone explain something to me (like I'm five)?

I see discussion about how people will be able to make transaction fees. This seems to appear in discussions about why miners would still be interested in the coin once mining becomes too difficult or all the coins are distributed (according to the possible new schedule Evan talked about). Also seems to come up in discussions about "nodes." What are nodes? Are they part of the Darksend implementation?

Sorry if I'm confusing a number of different issues, just trying to understand a little better.

I have a friend who's in an abusive relationship. She's been saving money to start a new life as far away from that pos as she can get. Problem is, the little she has can't be stored in her bank account because he has access. Even if she could deposit it, she has to account for every penny to him, so she wouldn't be able to spend it.

Now imagine her being able to transact purchases and make transfers completely anonymously, without having to leave her home or raise suspicion. To her, THAT'S the promise of Darkcoin. And that's why she's invested.

If you think the "dark" part of Darkcoin will only benefit people who want to do something illegal, then yours is a crisis of imagination.

First draft of Darkcoin bounties

Please suggest more and give me your feedback.

A quick explanation of how this will work: The "base bounty amount" is not the final bounty, it's a relative figure to make calculations easier. The base figure is adjusted depending on the actual donations we've received in the fundraiser. The "adjusted bounty amount" is what will actually be paid out.

TL/DR: Donate more, and all the bounties will go up!

How do we submit for a bounty? Or is it a "first one to complete something" kind of thing?

With regard to the name change. . .

In terms of branding, I first came to this coin BECAUSE of the name and design. It just looked cool. After spending some time with the Doge community (which is fun, light, and glib), the idea of something a little more "sober" attracted my attention. But looks are a terrible reason to buy altcoins, so I did some research, discovered it IS a serious coin, and bought in.

I believe the name and branding are just right. There's a little bit of mystery, a little bit of seriousness, and a whole lot of mathematical rigor. If Bitcoin is your father's Hyundai (staid, efficient, reliable), Darkcoin is a Tesla (cutting edge, futuristic, sexy). You cannot possibly hope to find a name that gives you a more enticing draw.

Change the name, even to some of the good coin names suggested in this thread, and you lose its most powerful draw (at least initially): this coin is DIFFERENT. Name it Freecoin or Seriouscoin, or something tame, and you've neutered its sex appeal.

If that was all the coin had going for it, then none of this would matter. But we know different. And in the end, the community will likely make the best case for its use, and we'll have to defend against accusations that its only purpose is for all things illegal. There is no question that, no matter what you name it, you'll have that issue because of the coin's transaction anonymity.

There are precedents for this. Pirate Bay, Bittorrent, Wikileaks, and, before them, cassette recorders, VHS players, and MP3 files, all have been accused of serving only one purpose: making illegal activities easier. But just like each of those tools have proven effective for numerous legal and beneficial purposes, we'll be able to point to positive uses for Darkcoin.

The name can't make the case for us. It can only draw people to the community. WE have to make the case for what it can do.
