1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 256 blocks solved! on: June 13, 2020, 01:02:20 PM
I've created a script for Ubuntu (suggest 20.04) or Debian linux which should automate the setup, configuration, and install of a ckproxy to mine on the solo pool, though you can edit it afterwards to mine wherever you like. I do not suggest using something like an RPi as you want reasonable performance from your proxy to avoid any added latency.

Download the following script:
Code:
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/soloproxy/setupsoloproxy.sh

It will not be directly executable, so execute it with
Code:
sh setupsoloproxy.sh

And follow the prompts. Tell me how you go.

Nice work CK this will help a lot of people who may have struggles to build the proxy from the source top work!
Thanks.

So has anyone actually tried it? I haven't had any feedback about whether it works yet...

I loaded Ubuntu server on one of my computers, and am in the process of downloading the blockchain. I plan on using it as a test bench (I primarily want to play with Stratum V2), but I'll run your script in the next day or so, and let you know how it goes.

another reason is there will be 10 of thousands of s9's on the cheap.

I have developed quiet cheap modded 2 board s9's that can mine here. use 400 watts and do 4.7th quietly

So having a space heater first mining here its a dirt cheap way of a chance at big money.

Space heater down clocked s9's can be made for 100 or less they will last for years.

My two board pulls 377 watts.

I owned the s9 already the modes were about 13 dollars.

so 13 dollars and .03 btc is about 300 dollars. {I donated 0.03 btc}

1 year of 400 watt mining is about  10 x 365 =3650 kwatts at 15 cents = 550 a year.

550+300 = 850 for a 1 year shot at 6.25 btc

the miner is quiet.  it will help add warmth in the winter.

I am running the quiet s9 over night.

Do you have a thread where you discuss these mods? It just so happens I have an s9 laying around with one bad hash board, and I'd love to give this mod a try.

I have two threads in hardware.

I also sold six in marketplace.

I will link them in a bit.

Thank you philipma1957! I was not expecting such a prompt reply.  Smiley

yeah i just got online  i went to hardware and set up four threads for you to read.

this is the sales thread but I won't be selling anything for weeks. has info and photos.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5243761.msg54305587#msg54305587.  . . no sales for now

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5213936.0. not mine but a clever mod of s9's

the goal for all the threads above is to build decent solo miners for this pool.

Thank you for providing these links philipma1957. It'll be a couple of days before I have time to go through them in detail (there aren't enough hours in a day), but I scanned through them briefly and can see you have put a lot of work into the project, and it looks very good.

Ok guys, lets do our first  solo round, after the halving.
Now that diff. Adjusted in our favour, our chances of finding a block are higher.

There is no minimum amount of participants, or maximum either.
You can gamble any amount of btc, starting from 0.005 to 0.03.
If we find a block, we will split the block reward between all the solo gamblers percentage-wise.

We will start our solo journey in 5 days.
Write down you’re nickname and send me a pm, if you’re in!

P.s We will also donate 1% to ck from our solo pot, and 1% if we find a block.

1. ailikun     0.01 btc

You can count me in as well. Thank you for organizing this, ailikun. I'll shoot you a PM. Hopefully, more people will join in.

Oh, and hello everyone. This looks like an amazing community! I don't normally do the chat thing, but after spending the last couple of evenings reading this thread, I thought to myself, "Self, you should register an account here, and at least say 'Hi'..."
