1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: June 09, 2014, 01:35:25 PM
An great article from TsingHua Financial Review.   "Crowdfund Intellectual Property on the Bitcoin Blockchain"   Used Counterparty as the example.
written by tsinghua university PHD student Feng Han,ShangHai Bitcoin Camp entrepreneur co-founder Ying GU ,Tsinghua
financial review senior editor Hongyu Jia and  Internet financial laboratory director  Zhenlin zhai.

Amazing and not surprising at the same time. Tsinghua is often regarded as probably the #1 University in all of China, and is a center for intellectual development. Leon Li, the CEO of Huobi, graduated from Tsinghua a well. If anyone can truly recognize the true potential of Counterparty, it's those guys.

As I mentioned, XCP is a long term coin/investment, not just a dump & pump coin. Buy and hold some right now, get the profit one or two year later.
Why not to be a constantly  pumping coin?

Just btw... xbet already exists.

I really liked the name countersports more. It had a significant SEO advantage and ranks higher on google. Xbet fades in with other unaffiliated websites, which may eventually try a lawsuit if they're desperate enough.

I have to assume xbet.io is being used so they can also offer CFD functionality and not be tied to sports or any particular bet type.
Do you think xbet will be popular during the worlds cup?

Any particular reason why countersports is down? launch on mainnet?

why the test website is invalid now?

Hi guys,

We are moving to a new domain and setting everything up http://testnet.xbet.io

More surprises are coming.
What surprises?

Just thought of something while taking a dump  Grin
How come XCP doesn't have a multipool which mine other coins, buy XCP and pay to the miners with XCP?
I am in the process of making one.
hope the community here will support it.
Any news about this? GPU mining is not really profitable anymore so maybe with multipool we can get much publicity for xcp then when price start go up?
+1
Even if it was profitable, XCP must have a multipool since it is not mineable.
It will provide constant buying power as well.
work in progress - will update.
Are u the staff of counterparty?

The betting functionality in Counterparty is the only price driver behind XCP besides the very minimal 0.5 XCP, which is insignificant with regards to the price.

XCP is also the easiest way to trade assets and avoid btcpay. Maybe less significant but it's also the cheaper way to distribute dividends.

I don't see major adoption of the DEx happening until the betting functionality is widely used.

Issuing distributions in XCP will not happen for quite a while because BTC is the preferred currency and I don't see that changing anytime soon, if ever.

Counterparty and XCP will see increased use and adoption due to the betting functionality and everything else will be a distant second.

(This is just my opinion)
Could u please approximate when will the betting functionality be added ? Can it be added before the World Cup?

I will be launching a sports feed site very early in June and we will offer complete coverage of the FIFA World Cup and either most or all of the NBA Finals depending on how many games the Semis go.

We're still waiting for functionality to be added to Counterwallet, but that should happen with plenty of time to spare.

(The post below this is not me)
Is countersports made by the counterparty official dev team or some third party team?

FWIW, if there are any developers interested in keeping Counterparty going once multisig abuse filters are in place, there is no reason the recommended plan cannot work with a fork of Counterparty instead of the original developers.

This is quite horrifying. Correct me if I'm wrong, Luke. But it sounds like you'd be quite happy to see the death of Counterparty at this point. Are the lines of communication now closed between yourself and the Counterparty developers? Is there even a part of you that sees value in what we're trying to achieve here?
A Counterparty dev has closed lines of communication.

Even if Counterparty dies, the Freimarket folks will be providing a replacement (if not an upgrade).
I also hold no Counterparty assets myself.
So no, I see no value to Counterparty specifically, just the functionality - which is already being worked on independently.
It's the Counterparty users who will lose out, unfortunately, unless someone steps up to move it forward.

Counterparty requirements
1) 80 bytes of data
2) Counterparty transactions are relayed through the network as normal transactions

Do you think it is possible to reach an agreement from your side on how we can achieve these requirements? If so can you think how this could be possible?
I don't think those requirements are reasonable.
Why does it matter how much data XCP can use, or how the transactions are relayed?
What should matter is that people can use it for A, B, and C goals.
The technical side is just a matter of implementation, not requirement.

We need at least 80 bytes because that's the limit the Counterparty protocol was designed around.

The solution you proposed is hackish and political, and needlessly so. We need a simple, robust and standard way of relaying our transactions through the normal and fully decentralised Bitcoin network. We need for our system to have as few points of failure as possible.
So don't u mean if bitcoin core devs insist on 40 bytes, XCP will be gradually dead?

Also, the girl scout fund has been fully raised for a couple days now with absolutely zero feedback from it. This needs to be addressed.

I am waiting to hear back from my contact there.
As soon as we connect - we will announce it to the world via a press release.
I will call her in the AM.

She just called me.
She said "You are awesome thank you for being awesome."
We will inform the world in the next 24 hours.
Catch the time, please.More and more sell order at 1.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - See new KarmaWall www.ikarmacoin.com !!!KARMAZING!!! on: March 10, 2014, 11:20:27 PM
On March 17th I will announce 20 BTCs worth of bounties.

Whoa... 20 BTCs?
Yes, that's right. But we need your help  Smiley

I personally with be donating about 5.5 BTCs for bounties. I will ask for the community's help funding the remainder. You can either 1) sponsor a bounty in your own name and I will add you to the post on Reddit; or 2) we'll find a way to aggregate your contribution with others.

If #1 is your option then you can choose to offer KARM or BTC.

Why are we doing this?
One of the strongest ideas of Karmacoin, I think, is the ability to provide incentive for people to do go and reward those who have done something good.

But before we get there, we need to provide our own incentives. We need Karmacoin services right now. What better way to find out how our own system will work than to use something like it in our development to foster a sense of community and to get things done at the same time?

Here is a partial list of projects for which bounties can be offered:

  • YouTube/Google+ tipbot
  • web wallet for the casual user
  • QT wallet UI redesign
  • QT wallet programming to incorporate redesign
  • online wallet generator
  • web donation widget for any website
  • functional android wallet
  • subreddit header with dynamic price and volume, like Vertcoin or Potcoin
  • start 1-page Wiki of at least 500 words on the subreddit
  • a good game

Bounties will only be paid upon the successful completion of the project. This means whoever finishes it first gets the bounty. Each task is worth something different. Some may have a small bounty (like the 1-page wiki), just to get it started and done quickly so that people know we're serious.

What do you need from me now?
Just your ideas. Then on March 17th you can start donating for the bounties or sponsoring a bounty of your own. I'll post the same to the r/karmacoinproject thread so those that have access to it can help to spec out some of the requirements for tasks.

Why BTC and not Karmacoin?
If we offer BTC then we're opening up the contest to everyone. Many developers don't want to work for a coin for only payment in that coin.  Having the prize in BTC opens up the contest to more claimaints and provides a seemingly predictable bounty value.

It's too much!
Let's think about this from an economic perspective. Let's say you really believe in Karmacoin and have accumulated about 1 BTC's worth of it over the past few weeks. You can sit and watch it hover somewhere under 5 satoshis for a while, if we don't continue developing Karmacoin. But, if you add, say 0.1 BTC to the bounties and we end up with enough to do lots of great things your coins will be worth a whole lot more.

If we do the above for ~20 BTCs, the value of your coins could increase 10-20x over the next 2 months because Karmacoin is becoming tremendously awesome and useful. Your 0.1 BTC donation has helped to increase the value of your coins, now worth 10-20 BTC each. A good investment, indeed.

Think about it for a few days and then you'll know how much to donate/sponsor.

Why don't we get community talent to do it?
When people have incentive to do something then it is done with greater attention, and much faster than if they had only recognition for their work. It would be better if that wasn't the world we live in but I suppose we've been conditioned that way. We all need a little push sometimes. Even developed coin communities have trouble finishing a software task in good time. We can pool our resources together in order to substantially increase the value of our community and coin and get more things done in less time. But if a community member is the first to finish the task, then they can claim the bounty.

WE HAVE 110 000 000 KARMA for donations.  17 march Holy Festival In India.
Best wishes to children and U.

I think karmacoin should try to cooperate with some famous charity institutions to increase its influence. It's a very creative idea in charity field. I hope U can succeed and help more and more people.
