1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin art created by AI {gallery} ... and the satoshi portrait as well. on: August 29, 2022, 10:59:08 AM
This is acutally good for art in general. Artists protest that art created by AI is not art, and to some extent, I agree (if we consider the emotional aspect of art) but it's in no way a threat to human artists. In fact, it puts more value on human made art. Also, for years there has been generic "art" made by people that is in no way more "artistic" than the AI made.
2  Other / Archival / Re: Entrepreneurship or Office job? on: August 28, 2022, 08:35:15 PM
I find it interesting how this differs from culture to culture. In the western more libretarian (American) concept, enterpreneurship is on top, but when you go in the other georaphical direction, South Korea for example, there an office job is of the outmost value. I just find that interesting.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 28, 2022, 08:27:32 PM
Right on the money. This is a prop up fight for Chimaev and hed have to do something really stupid to shit the bed on this one. And the UFC really wants to get rid of some of the old guard like Diaz because there 's really not much they can do with them. They are not competitive anymore (save for few outliers) and imho, they aren't even fan favorites anymore, people have moved on.
Dare I say it, but people have moved on from Diaz. UFC has a bit of a different culture about it now, just look at the Ultimate fighter, and how that has evolved over time. The whole vibe is different, you go back to watch season one or the earlier seasons, and you can see how rough around the edges it is.

This does nothing for me though for Chimaev. If he wins, it's as expected. If he does a flying knee in the first 10 seconds, and knocks Diaz out, I'm still not going to think any more of him. He's expected to absolutely dominate that fight, and the risk is if he doesn't it looks even worse.

I would like to think so as well, that the whole vibe of the sport has moved on, but from time to time something bursts taht bubble and we are back to the 'JUST BLEED' era. But in general, it's moving away from that.

As for Chimaev, hell, I'd say for anyone in the top 10 of that division (and I am being somewhat generous), a win over Diaz is not gonna do much over all, not to mention someone that's just waiting for a title fight.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you all ignore alternative tech on Bitcoin? on: August 28, 2022, 12:02:05 PM
Bitcoin maximalists? I would prefere the label crypto maximalist and enthusiast. What I do see value in more than being as simp for BTC just because BTC is that itger avenues could take crypto into other interesting and worthwile avenues. Could those avenues be explored with BTC? Maybe if the tech is up to the task, but that dosen't mean it needs to nor does it mean that we are creating comoetition with other coins, just that ideas that might get overlooked or dissregarded can find a home somewhere else. Your assumption that people who do work in BTC dev are all knowing and without fault, and you sir would be wrong.
5  Other / Politics & Society / Re: War in Ethiopia, why is everyone silent? on: August 27, 2022, 11:36:44 AM
War, famine and the rest of the 4 horsemen of the apocalipse are and have been ignored by the larger community when it comes to Africa. I don't know what could change that, but education outside of Africa on what is happening there could be a good start. It's not immidiate  action, but it's a step in the right direction.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Have you felt the impact of inflation so far? on: August 27, 2022, 11:31:48 AM
I mean, prices have risen due to number of reasons and in part due to inflation, but what worries me is not the immediate impact of inflation and other issues, it's what it does in the long run that sparks the most concern. Those kinds of impacts could be felt for years to come.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto and Bitcoin began to be known by the rural community on: August 27, 2022, 11:27:28 AM
I am sure that people are more and more aware of the name 'Bitcoin' or crypto, but that dosen't mean they understand it or will use it. Especialy in rural areas where people might not have the needs to trade with it (general knowlage of it, personal infrastructure like computers or even public infrastructure like internet accessibility) or the means to invest in it. Until those issues are resolved steps towards their adoption of crypto can't be taken.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 26, 2022, 11:22:09 AM
I just feel like this is a fight that's happening because it'll make Chimaev look absolutely next level, because Diaz is a fan favourite, and is still held in high regard by many. The reality is he's been off the paces for a few years now, and isn't the fighter he used to be. Plus, Chimaev did lose some stock after that Burns fight.

So, I do think this is feeding Diaz to the dogs type of bout, and I'll probably be avoiding the fight all together in terms of betting. There's no reward for the obvious choice, and the likelihood of the underdog getting anything is rather slim. I'd say it's probably the most mismatched fight of this year.

Right on the money. This is a prop up fight for Chimaev and hed have to do something really stupid to shit the bed on this one. And the UFC really wants to get rid of some of the old guard like Diaz because there 's really not much they can do with them. 9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump for prison. on: August 26, 2022, 11:15:37 AM
I'd say never. So far there hasn't been any evidance or accusation that would really come close. Maybe he did do something that could get him sent to prison, but we need to remember that not the same rules apply to him as they do to us. Far smaller offences would lend us, regular people in prison, but as for him, his so powerfull, hed probably get away with murder.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have a doubt about Bitcoin on: August 26, 2022, 11:04:17 AM
As technology changes, so should BTC, there is nothing wrong with that. I would say thinking that BTC was made perfect from the start is false and anything can be improved on. Sure, forcefull changes just for the sake of changing something, are not good, but implementing new concepts and ideas should be welcomed.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 25, 2022, 11:04:46 AM
No, I don't think so too. If the fight will end in a stand-up fight Diaz will just have a sore face and body with the added loss.
The only chance I could see is thru submission which will be a difficult task to achieve when fighting Chimaev because no one had successfully managed to take him down yet.
Then, if ever by some miracle it does happen, Nate has to worry about the counter with Chimaev having the same skills in submission.
A win from Nate here will almost look like how Edwards won. Unexpected.
I'd say he has more chance on the feet than on the ground, and I believe that speaks volumes since I don't think he has much chance on the feet. I'd be very surprised if he manages to submit Chimaev, but you could argue that crazier things have happened in the last year, we've had massive favourites, including this weekend just gone lose, so I can't be 100% sure obviously.

However, I do consider this one of those fights were the favourite wins 9.5 times out of 10. Honestly, I'd love to see Diaz win, and while not being a fan of either of the fighters I'll be hoping Diaz pulls off the upset.

Yup, definatelly more chance in standup than wrestling or bjj. He can't match Chimaevs wrestling skills, and his BJJ i honestly outdated for modern MMA. He would have to have Brian Ortega type of skills and confidance off his back to even atempt something on Chimaev. On paper Diaz is a huge underdog here, but as you said, stranger things have happened.
12  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Could this be the cause why Nigeria is undeveloped? on: August 25, 2022, 10:58:41 AM
Bottom line is that european colonialism helped in underdeveloping and devestating the entire continent. It wasn't the only factor, after all, tribal conflicts and early arab slave trade did their part, but european colonisation and the subsuquent instability it brought to many African countries is still felt strongly to this day.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Europe's drought the worst in 500 years on: August 25, 2022, 10:50:46 AM
I am not surprised that people are saying that this caught them by surprise, because otherwise they would admit that they neglected the evidence that has been present for years and downplay the impact humans have and put more emphasis on natural causes. People have a hard time owning up to their mistakes, and this is a big one.
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is money for survival or luxury? on: August 24, 2022, 10:59:09 AM
Money is a medium for economic exchange. It's concept has nothing to do with how and on what it is being spent, so money is neither for survival nor is it for luxury, especially as those terms are not universally defined. Money is just an economic concept for exchanging goods, nothing more.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: Education on: August 24, 2022, 10:53:24 AM
What does it mean 'to make it'? That's not such clear cut definition as that differs from a person to person. Someones 'making it' could involve education as the end goal of education is not necessaraly financial benefit, but rather the acumulation of knowlage. So education is important to those that think it gives something to them.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My feelings after 11 years with crypto. on: August 24, 2022, 10:44:47 AM
Hello everyone, today i want to tell you about my crypto-depression.

I have feelings that i lost my biggest life chance to get really rich and i just want to forget about crypto and work in normal work but it is impossible.
It's hurt much more if you can see that your old crypto-friend's get cars and houses from crypto profit, i wonder if someone have some feeling's as me.

I would say that your crypto savings did what they were intendend, and that's not geting rich but helping you in a tight situation when you had no job and neded to pay madical bills. That's way better than borowing money, so don't beat yourself up.
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is suicide the best option? on: August 23, 2022, 09:29:34 PM
Suicide was around since the dawn of humans, so I wouldn't say that it has any chance of becoming the norm. What we need ro adress and talk about are undelying mental health issues that have been taboo in the past. Accepting those issues and opening dialogs about them could reduce the rate if suicide.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is People buying Bitcoin ? BTC Market Forecast September - December 2022 on: August 23, 2022, 08:51:04 PM
Trying to predict economic fluctuations is a coin toss, and being sure about is completly false. We can speculate that the cycles will continue as they did in previous, and I am not saying it won't, but there are to many factors involved, especialy with those factors being so strong (war, recession). So all of this what you are saying is at best an educated guess, at worst just a random guess.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The World's Self-Proclaimed First Bitcoin Refugee on: August 23, 2022, 07:55:58 AM
I wouldn't use the term Refugee for this. Financial immigrant, but definately not refugee ast that would be resrved for people who are fleeing extreme conditions, not just one financial law of their country.

As for financial immigrants, they were present from the creation of the financial system onwards, and crypto isni exeption, with pribably much more undocumented.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Consequences and effects of inflation | Financially and Mentally on: August 22, 2022, 09:31:57 PM
Well, obviously the efects of inflation are felt both financialy and mentaly, depending on ones financial position that is. But what needs to be looked at here is the long term effect it has on people and what issues it brings down the line because not everything can be felt imediatelly. If inflation causes further economic turmoil that lead to more sever conseqences like unemplyment, that that effects a whole lot more.
