1  Economy / Goods / CLOSED: [WTS] $5 of Amazon MP3 Credit - Expires Today on: October 16, 2011, 06:07:32 PM
The credits have now expired.

Hello everyone,

I made a purchase from Amazon a while back and they gave me $5 worth of MP3 credit. I completely forgot about them until Amazon emailed me saying that the credit will expire today, October 16.

The credit can be applied to songs and albums from http://www.amazon.com/MP3. I will "gift" the purchase to you and from what I understand, you have the option to either download the MP3 or exchange it for a gift card of equal value (not sure if the giftcard can only be applied to MP3s though).

If you are interested, please PM me. I will use the exchange rate as of this post which is $3.50/btc.

When I click on the little blue heart nothing happens, I tried in a few browsers, but it seems the heart icon isn't linked to anything anymore..

I have noticed the same thing on my end as well. Is the voting closed?

Hi,

I can think of number of codes that the Bitcoin community could make a good use of.

1. Client side Java Bitcoin payment module - there are number of those out there already, but all of them use server based gateway - a pure client will be much more useful for a P2P currency - this one should be executed on trough a web-browser and have the functionality to use local Bitcoin addresses for payment, receiving as well as check the transaction and confirmations on the Network - without reliance on any central server or gateway component.

2. Fully integrated, all-in-one, front- and back-end of a mining pool - useful for private or public pool mining - the reason there are so few mining pools is the complexity of setting up pushpoold and integrating it with bitcoind and then the web front-end. A python script that takes care of this complexity and makes it easy for a novice to install this in a single step will go a long way in this community.

3. Simple Python and PHP based single currency to BTC automatic exchange script - there are some free exchange scripts out there, again, the implementation is only easy for their creators and very difficult to the average Bitcoin user who wants to try to create some utility value for the Bitcoin.

I am personally prepared to hire you to write the No.3, and on completion to release that code to the public under GNU, if you charge reasonable amount for that work, of course.

Let's discuss more, what others think?

Hello gopher. Thanks for your input.

1) I have actually been interested in making such a module but just have not gotten around to doing so, yet.
2) Unfortunately , I have not really gotten into pools much so I do not know much about their inner-works.
3) Could you please elaborate on this one, it seems like something I may be interested in working on.

Just bumping this thread from page 5. My services are still available and I am always happy to help any way I can.

Why should people use your service when its 7 times more expensive compared to a professional (run by fulltime staff) renderfarm?

http://www.rebusfarm.com/Render-Farm-Rebus-Farm_en.html

Oh, I never saw REBUSfarm during my initial price comparison. I would like to thank you for pointing them out to me ivan.

The sidebar of supported software does not list Blender3D. The only mention of support for it is from a January 2008 news post. A thread on Blender Artists, mentions that there is a 40 euro fee per render job when rendering a Blender scene due to it having to be submitted manually by REBUSfarm staff. I am aware that this info is out of date, I have contacted REBUSfarm about the current status and will post back when I receive a response. Also, there is the fact that REBUSfarm (and every render farm as far as I know) does not accept Bitcoins as payment.

Shameful bump from page 9  Sad

My service is still available.

Posted my two services there under the same username and, umm, I think there may be a typo in this thread's title; perhaps OP meant prize instead of price?

Hello all,

I am a Python and Java programmer who is looking for work. I prefer coding scripts and smaller programs over large programs but I will accept either. I am also able to do PHP work but nothing too fancy please. I do not have a set rate for my work, make me an offer and I will either accept or decline it.

In addition to being hired by individuals, I will also work free of charge on some things if the program will benefit the entire Bitcoin community. I currently do not have any ideas for programs like these so it would be great if people could suggest some.

I currently do not have a reputation around here so if there is a program that is lacking in the community, let me know and I will see what I can do about it and and probably release it for free.

Thanks.

Edit 8/14/11: Added support for PHP

basically, add a  __local  key keyword to this line and it should increase your performance.
Sorry, this doesn't work for me, performance dropped 33% instead.
Are you using an ATI card? I know that I get a similar drop on my Nvidia, but I only have one and no ATI.  This may only work with ATI, all the reports are with ATI cards.

Only works with ATI card mate. Nvidia are a load of bollocks anyway with Bitcoin, total waste of time.
Ah, thanks for confirming my suspicions.  I've heard that ATI is the way to go when mining; however, Nvidia is a better choice for what I use my computer for mostly.  Tongue

So is it like I wish for bitcoins, toss in some, and then my wish (ie my bitcoins) us transferred to you, thus the profit is yours?  Cry

Hello everybody.

I have over 15GHz of computing power available to use to help speed up render times for modelers, animators, etc. This is a render only service, I am not providing modeling services.

My current price is 0.05BTC per GHz hour (minimum order of 1GHz hour). This is about 0.50USD at the current exchange rate.
Payment due at the end of rendering, I will send you a watermarked proof for free prior to payment.

I currently have support for the following render engines: Blender3D Internal, YafaRay, LuxRender, and Cycles. Most of these are centered around the Blender3D software, but if your package can export to any of these, I will accept them.

In addition to providing rendering services, I will also bake Blender3D simulations for the same price of 0.05BTC per GHz hour.

Edit 8/10/11: Just changed the prices to reflect the lower exchange rate.

Edit 8/11/11: Cheaned up the wording some.

This method actually caused a decrease of 30%. I went from 26.81 MHash/s down to 18.71 MHash/s.

I have used this with a Radeon 5830 card. from 305MH/s to 315Mh/s
Here's some proof.

I was using it with a Geforce GTS 360M.  Perhaps it only works with ATI cards?

17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: POLL: What name would you give to the smallest unit of bitcoin (0.00000001)? on: June 27, 2011, 06:14:53 PM
But I agree with some posters above, that the decimal should be shifted all the way to the right and not be used. I thinks the fact that bitcoins can be divided so small makes them seem silly to non bitocin users and can hinder their use in the real world, for average people. The decimal really serves no purpose since at the rate the value of BTC is climbing, in the future very few people will even be able to talk about whole bitcoins...

-Mike

I second using this method.  Average people are not accustomed to using currency that is divisible to the 8th decimal place.  Such a change would be difficult for people to adapt to.

0.00000001 - 8 bit
0.0000001 - 7 bit
0.000001 - 6 bit
etc

or perhaps a TidBit
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: June 26, 2011, 03:19:35 AM
My sad excuses for rigs are below, in descending order of terribleness:

Laptop 1:
  • OS:
    • Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat 32-bit
  • CPU:
    • AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55
    • 800 mhz per thread (thanks to broken frequency scaling; possible 1.80 ghz)
    • 2 threads with using jgarzik's minerd cpu miner and cryptopp_asm32 algorithm
    • 0.318 mhash/s per thread; 0.636 mhahs/s total

Desktop:
  • OS:
    • Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat 32-bit
  • CPU:
    • AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
    • 2 ghz per core
    • 2 threads with using jgarzik's minerd cpu miner and cryptopp_asm32 algorithm
    • 0.934 mhash/s per thread; 1.868 mhahs/s total

Laptop 2:
  • OS:
    • Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit
  • CPU:
    • Inte(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q740
    • 1.73 per core
    • 8 threads using Ufasoft's bitcoin-miner and SSE2 instructions
    • 1.900 mhash/s per thread; 8.6 mhash/s total (possibly due to HyperThreading)
  • GPU:
    • NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M
    • 650 mhz (overclocked, 576 mhz stock)
    • m0mchil's poclbm with work size of 256
    • 25 mhash/s (22 mhash/s without overclock)

For an astonishing grand total of approx. 35 mhash/s.
For those with the same hardware, please tell me how mine compare.

Three down, two to go

Nota Bene: Never try to do nested lists in SMF; they are very hard to get right. (so pay me to do them for you)
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins are you mining each day? (another pissing contest) on: June 26, 2011, 01:55:07 AM
I am currently solo mining with 35 mhash/s combined, will switch to a pool in a week.  My chances are slim so I have yet to find a block.

However, I was temporarily the richest Bitcoin user ever thanks to a hiccup in Bitcoin.  http://imagebin.org/159975 (yesii did hide my address and transaction from the faucet, and no I did not edit the balance). That is over 7.6 billion bitcoins.  Sadly Bitcoin was being a big meany and would not allow me to send any; however, I have since set up a new wallet and my coins are all gone.  I am now at the bottom of the list with all the other new users.
