1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: April 28, 2015, 12:27:01 AM

******* Amber Alert [1] Tuesday competition ********

!!!! CASH PRIZES !!!!

Dash has significant technical technical objectives which it already has or is attempting to achieve short term.

Each of these 3 technical objectives are bitcoin problems which have been widely debated in bitcoin forums and who's solution is as yet ambiguous. The difference with bitcoin or its competitors is that Dash is the only crypto currency project that is trying to achieve those objectives without compromising some other valuable property.

Question. What are the 3 objective / property pairs ?

[significant new objective] without recourse to [valuable existing property]
[significant new objective] without recourse to [valuable existing property]
[significant new objective] without recourse to [valuable existing property]

There are 3 (and only 3) new objectives. There are 3 (and only 3) existing properties which Dash is attempting to preserve, so in total 6 valuable properties will be secured for crypto currencies.

REWARDS: 5 Dash for each correct pair i.e. you need to get at least one pair - the property thats being pursued and the property thats being preserved for 5 Dash. If you get all 3 then it's a 15 Dash reward.

POST YOUR ADDRESS !!!! CLUES IN 15 MINUTES IF NO CORRECT REPLY.

CLUE 1: No other crypto is currently attempting to optimise these 6 properties independently. All of Dash's competitors are optimising these properties at the expense of each other.

CLUE 2: Clues will be given if no answers within 15 minutes.

CLUE 3: I have mentioned all 6 properties in my posting history

******* Amber Alert [2] ********

There will be a follow up compo for 20 Dash.

Well, here is my guess:

 - to assure fungibility of the coins without recourse to hurting the blockchain visibility

 - to achieve long term finantial health to the crypto project without recourse to umbalancing the coin economics

 - to have a descentralised governance without recourse to a centralised entity

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Open paper wallet on: November 26, 2014, 07:42:26 PM
Hi!
What's the best way to open a paper wallet?
I want to transfer it to an exchange.

Do you mean to "redeem" the balance of a paper wallet and send these funds to an exchange?

The paper wallet will bring the address as well as the (concealed) Private key. You would just have to import that private key into your preferred wallet to have normal access to the paper wallet funds. Then you'll be able to send the amount you want to the exchange.

I hope I was of any help.

I am so sorry to hear about all your troubles. Life can be harsh, but it is a school: everything in our lives will teach us and make us stronger.

I can not help by giving you money. I don't think it would be real help. Remember that only you can help always yourself, with your efforts and will to succeed.

Please do your best and you will succeed, and later you will remember this stage in your life as a learning passage!

My best wishes for you.

Thanks, transfer received. Will there be an October contest?
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best way to build trust on: September 30, 2014, 05:46:24 AM
As per title, are there better ways to do it or is it simply time served on the forum?

One day I'd like to offer Escrow services but maybe lending BTC is another way to do it, although there is obviously risk involved in this :/

Only with time.

The more you interact with other users, make successful deals, and friends, the better will be your reputation.

There's no other way.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you found a servie that you could get "extra" bitcoins from? on: September 26, 2014, 10:22:43 PM
It happened to me something alike: last week I was playing around in one of the dice BTC sites, and then there was this bug that out of nothing multiplied my balance to way more than 1 BTC (when, at first, I had only the free faucet initial credit).

I informed the admins and they fixed it instantly. They gave me a reward of about 10% of the bug credit. (moments after, I lost the reward gambling there  Cry)

I wonder who in this comunity has ever claimed that the blackmarkets is our (Bitcoin's) goal. It is simply a nonsense assumption.
This, 100 times this.

doesn't matter if anyone claims its the goal of bitcoin or not, the fact is that bitcoin is the money of choice on internet black markets.

Sure, now I understand what you mean, and in this I agree with you.

What I don't agree with is the assumption that this is a big problem for Bitcoin: It is only a problem in the discourse of the anti-bitcoin fear-mongering propaganda  Wink

This is not a good goal to have for bitcoin. If too high of all bitcoin related trade is done on blackmarkets then bitcoin will be much more heavily regulated (including the ability to buy and sell bitcoin with fiat) which will decrease it's value.

I would argue this is what happened when Gox's $5 million account was seized last year - it was too easy to take bitcoin from SR and sell it on Gox

I wonder who in this comunity has ever claimed that the blackmarkets is our (Bitcoin's) goal. It is simply a nonsense assumption.

did i say it was a problem?
this is very good because it generates constant demand for bitcoin.

I meant zorke said.

12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: September 26, 2014, 08:22:54 AM
There is no topic, do you not understand that?
You mean, I could even ask whether the Eastern mistletoe of North America has sticky pulp inside its berries, like the European mistletoe?
You definitely could do that. The problem is do you think you would get an answer?
It would be very naive of me to expect that, wouldn't it?
But was that a real reason of your naiveness?
Hm... could it be that, sub-consciously, I was expecting an aswer to that question?
Is that why you asked that exact same question in a different thread?  Grin
What different thread?
You never heard of the totally off topic thread?
Does it mean our posts can have parallel lives in parallel threads, like parallel universes?
Or perhaps that thread has the answers to all the questions in this thread, in some order?
Are there answers to each and every questions that our vain philosophy would ever be able to dream of?
Do you demand correct answers, or would any answer do?

Do correct answers exist, or everything is but an illusion?

Are we making a quote pyramid?

Isn't it some kind of quote ponzi?

By the way...

Batman and Robin were coming back from a party.

Both drunk, but Batman was much worse. Batman was so drunk that he decided to ask Robin to drive the Batmobile back home.

Excited to have this first opportunity to drive such a nice car, Robin sits in front of the steering wheel, puts his hand on the gear stick, puts the first gear and takes off smooth.

He shifts to the second gear, increases speed, shifts to the third, and to the forth gear, and drives through a curve at more than 70mph.

The car skids, so he reduces driving speed, stepping on the brakes, but regains control, he shifts back to the third gear, and so they went.

As soon as they arrived at the Batcave, Robin parks the car so proudly. Then, batman asks:

— Robin, give me a kiss?

— Hey Batman! Are you crazy? Who do you think I am?

— Oh, c'mon, don't complicate things! You know quite well that the Batmobile has got automatic transmission!

Rossi Street., St. Petersburg. Its width and height are identical (22m) with a length exactly ten times as long (220m).

This look very cool ,nice picture.

looks even more amazing at night, it was build between 1828 and 1834.

WOW, nice picture! Thanks.

Sometimes it happens that we receive some "spam deposits" Shocked it's a kind of strange advertisement.

It's possible that's your case.

The sad thing is that it might force you to pay extra miner fees if they make the size of your transaction bigger than normal.
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: September 24, 2014, 07:22:54 PM
Is it because people (like you in this instance) feel like they can pick and choose any post to answer, when they are only supposed to "Answer the question above with a question"?  Roll Eyes

Why would I follow the rules of the game and not just pick and choose any post to answer, when there's no government to coerce me?

Alot of the demand for paper money comes from the fact that you need it to pay taxes to the government, you can't use anything else.

what exclusive use cases does bitcoin have? internet black markets.

you can't use fiat on internet black markets because of the paper trail it will leave, you HAVE to use bitcoin (or some other crypto but for simplicity sake lets say its bitcoin because its the most liquid and has the most secure network in terms of hashing power).
bitcoin is the only way to send money over the internet anonymously, all other methods require interfacing with the banking system which is highly traceable.

so assuming the world drug business remains illegal, and most of it moves from dangerous physical black markets to much safer internet black markets like silkroad, that is very bullish for bitcoin.

we're talking about a huge industry that will have to use bitcoin and will create constant demand for it.

Just like fiat money has always been used by the black markets on the streets, Bitcoin is being used by the black markets online. So, what's the big fuss?

Do you have plans to supress Bitcoin as well as fiat money? Leave only Visa and Mastercard? I doubt this will put an end to the black markets.

I really don't get your point...

I am sorry to hear your story of the chinese blocking thing, but, I guess a better place for you to do your altcoin marketing would be elsewhere.
