1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: July 21, 2015, 04:09:56 PM
i like these expressions " officially" lol

I know right, like who is the grand proclaimer of such things, who is this official that makes the decision?
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: July 21, 2015, 04:02:29 PM
I would pick both as diversification is key to a long term wealth building strategy and to keep said wealth should disaster strike. Actually there are many other investments you should be looking into as well, I do not much like these either/or type questions as people should be expanding their investments, not narrowing them down.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How a perfect crypto-currency would be on: July 21, 2015, 03:57:14 PM
I don't see cpu mining being an optimal solution. The perfect crypto currency should be secure, instant and free to transfer along with decentralized transfers in my oppinion.

I would disagree in that cpu mining only would make the mining aspect available to the most people. I do know the limitations in that bot nets, renting out VPS farms, etc. cause imbalance of coin distribution, but for many parts of the world even having a cpu that can mine can be a struggle. Tying mining to GPUS or ASIC is keeping it in the hands of the (relatively) rich.

5  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Cloud mining official page*** on: April 06, 2014, 12:14:04 AM
I'm pretty sure you're calculation is right Verge (although you could check it on any web mining calculator). The main reason for this is people hope that if they sell off their GHs, the mining profits and the sale will give them a net profit and hence from a pure mining standpoint you'll always lose money by mining there. It really just is a trading platform using GHs as a commodity which happens to have the ability to mine while constantly devaluating as a result of difficulty increases.

Thanks for the response Light. I was just hoping I was missing something as it sounded like good idea, but I will just keep my profits and look elsewhere to invest them.
6  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Cloud mining official page*** on: April 05, 2014, 11:18:54 PM
I have pointed my own miners to CEX.IO to mine scrypt coins and have been happy with the results so far. I was going to use some of my profits to buy some of their GHS, as it sounds attractive having cloud based miners. I am having some difficulty trying to figure out the profitability part though, and hope someone can enlighten me.

According to the profit calculator on their site, if I buy say 10 GHS at current rates it will cost me approximately 0.11488 BTC for those 10 GHS. Going to the 'Estimate Profit" calculator I enter in my theoretical 10 GHS and leave the other settings at default I get a cumulative profit of only 0.05 BTC before it stops returning anymore. This is not even 1/2 of what it would cost me to purchase the hash-rate.

I cannot believe people are buying hash at twice the expected return, so I assume I need to change from the default values in the calculator to make proper projections. I further assume the maintenance fee and pool fee cannot be changed from 3% each? If so, please let me know. This would then leave the values for current difficulty (again I assume this is from the block chain), difficulty increase per month (default 50), conversion rate and conversion increase per month. If someone can help give me the appropriate values to base my estimates on I would be extremely thankful.
7  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ***CEX.IO Cloud mining official page*** on: April 05, 2014, 06:39:09 PM

And what consists of most active testers i got a 1 miner on 24/7 does that consider me as most active tester or just the 1's with the most hash rate?

I'd also like to know this....

I'm liking the multi pool however I'm getting tons of stales like over 500 stales in the last few hours...

Anyone else have this problem? also would it help if i didn't have all the coins selected for mining?

Same here, if it's "active" as in keeping my miners at the pool I am good, if it is only for those with large hash-rates than nothing too exciting here.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your end game if BTC crashes overnight? on: April 05, 2014, 04:29:46 PM
I'm just going to put a gun in my mouth  Cheesy

No seriously, I'm selling right now. I'm taking the same amount out as I have in. I'm still way ahead, but this saddens me. I've watched this market for about 2 years and it has never done this. When it would crash before it would jump right back. Now it's just a steady decline, followed by a steep decline, followed by more steady decline.  Sad

What's the pool with the most hash-rate atm? I have miners on two different pools now that haven't even found a block yet, the pools are running ~20-30 MH/s each.

This an April Fool's Coin based on launch date?

Launch wasn't april 1st so the preconditions are'nt compatible to your question or shortly to say: no.

Apologies, I didn't read far enough first time through. It does seem a bit strange though to claim not to be a pre-mine that launched privately back in January? Not trying to troll, just thought this was the official place to announce new coins.

Not quite enough blood yet if you ask me, maybe that sub $200 someone was speaking of?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doge coin is bad on: April 03, 2014, 10:36:25 PM
Apologize in advance as I am still kind of new. Do you think that last spike to 137 was simply a small pump and dump? I see it is rising ever so slightly again now and wondering if I should sell-off my small doge holdings soon or hang on for better profits.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: April 03, 2014, 10:27:32 PM
A bit more troubleshooting, it seems I can get to the main site just fine http://www.clevermining.com and even http://www.clevermining.com/users, but when I try to get to my personal stats page http://www.clevermining.com/users/mywalletaddress is when it times out. Also, from the "users" page, if I try to go to the next page by clicking on "2", or any of them actually, it also times out.

Yup. Same here. I can get to the main web site, but it times out when trying to get to my user stats.

Maybe the user statistics side of the site is running on a different server.

My reported CloudFlare site is San Jose.

Look's like it finally started to work. I don't know if Terk worked it out or if it just required a bit more patience.

Also good to see the payments are up a bit, 132% LTC profitability. Smiley

Ok, I see what you mean. Basically, just saying if the coin goes up at some later date, you wouldn't necessarily be mining at a loss at that point, even though it would still be better to purchase the coins during the said time period.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: April 03, 2014, 09:56:34 PM
Is there a problem with the webpage? I have not been able to see my stats for the past day, just times out with a Cloudflare "Host Error" message.

I'm seeing the same problem. I was just about to post, but you beat me to it.

I checked my local logs and it looks like my miners are still in communication with the server, so maybe just the web server is down.

I have no problem getting in.
Maybe it's a CloudFlare region problem?

Yeah, my miners are still connected and I have received payment from yesterday, so that seems to be going good.

My regional Cloud Flare server seems to be in Chicago if anyone else wants to compare notes. Smiley

Hmm... $1.84 for 1mh on ltc per daily power cost $1.20, pool fee 0.04$ = profit 0.60 cents/day.

Methink some miners better turn off their mining machines.

Had better turn them off? This only makes sense if a) there is no profit (your calculations say there is) and b) you're selling your Crypto to pay for your electricity. Or if you're mining but you're a bear.

Let me point out the variable that you seem to have forgotten ; Power cost:

It make sense if you're running a 250/mh farm at higher than 0.1 kwh. As stated by some users who have farm, sometimes they pay upward of 0.2kwh. It would cost such user  @ 0.2kwh a minimum of 13 000$ for power per month for 14 000$~ worth of LTC. But truth is, such power drain is often considered industrial which crank up the price even more.

At the moment there's profit for your average GPU miner who pays 0.1kwh, therefore :

Methink some miners better turn off their mining machines.

My power provider charge only 0.051 for electricity, but if i use more than what a regular house would use , the price go up to 0.2 after the first 30kw And if i was using 84kwh, the cost would be 0.36kw after the first 50kw. So would pay easily pay 0.3 even tho small miners here(where i live) normally only pay 0.051.

So Again, unless they want to gamble whether the price go back up to 700$+ SOME miner will have to shut down Wink

I few thoughts about mining "profits"...
"Mining when not profitable" might be the best investment youve ever made.

That is SO INCORRECT! It's not complicated. If the cost of mining is greater than the cost of the coin you are better off buying the coin, otherwise you are overpaying.

On this I agree with baddoge, I don't see how it would be profitable to pay more to mine a coin than you could by simply shutting off your miners and buying the coin outright.

By my own estimations in the US at 0.12 per KW/h, I am earning roughly $2 for every $1 I spend on electricity when mining here at Clever. Once that dips too much further I am thinking of shutting off some of my miners. I have a mix of GPUs and Gridseeds, so can continue to run the Gridseeds a lot longer and remain profitable.

sold at 137, $900 profit.

Lucky you for selling at the exact high spot. Tell me, how did you arrive at this sell point? Did you have an order already to go or did you somehow know it wasn't going higher, pump/dump?
