1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Official Gridcoin Boinc Milestone Thread : 500,000,000 million so far! on: June 29, 2014, 03:55:25 PM
The 500mm milestone = est. $300,000 in compute resources donated to scientific research!
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Official Gridcoin Boinc Milestone Thread : 500,000,000 million so far! on: June 29, 2014, 03:45:33 PM
Amazing!

Gridcoin is a perfect example of coin that delivers on its promises. 500,000,000 million is a very impressive number.

When GRC makes it to the top 10 BOINC contributors, it will get a lot of media attention and influx of new miners.

I encourage everyone to start mining ASAP while the difficulty is still low.

Gridcoin

Open-source, complete transparency, convenience of use, ultra fast transaction time, good cause i.e. advancing the progress of medicine, biology, climatology, mathematics, astrophysics, and more via BOINC contribution.

Quote
The Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) is an open source middleware system for volunteer and grid computing. It was originally developed to support the SETI@home project before it became useful as a platform for other distributed applications in areas as diverse as mathematics, medicine, molecular biology, climatology, environmental science, and astrophysics. The intent of BOINC is to make it possible for researchers to tap into the enormous processing power of personal computers around the world.

Cryptocurrencies are not only super convenient as a form of value transfer, but can literally save the humanity and increase everyone's quality of life.

Gridcoin FTW!

"Community: Looks at discussions and popularity of a coin from social media and forum content (eg. Bitcointalk, Reddit)."

Can you clarify the methodology used for coming up with concrete % - Dogecoin 96/100, Counterparty 40/100? Based on explanation provided so far, it seems like someone is just making those numbers up.

Regarding Linux & Mac:

The new cpuminer version that is coming out in 7 days is almost completely cross platform with native Linux/Mac compatibility.  Im working hard to remove windows features and make the new versions cross compilable.

Can't wait! Finally Linux compatible.. I predict we will see a large spike in the price when this update gets out.

I'm calling 35000 in the next two months if there is a substantial increase in wallets holding over 1k  say if that number triples in the next month...
If not this is all manipulation by huge bag holders selling to themselves

More like in the next two weeks..

PTC featured in CoinDesk's Guide to the World’s National Altcoins

Quote
As well as being the largest country with a national cryptocurrency, Spain may be the only country to have two (actually no, please see below). Pesetacoin is also a grand national project, albeit with a slightly different approach to the others, and bears the nostalgia-inducing name of Spain’s currency before it adopted the euro.

There will be a total of 166m PTC, described by its creator ‘CryptoMP’ as “[not] an explosive coin, but a modest currency that slowly finds its way into the community”. Apart from giving away 50 PTC amounts on a casual basis, there is no scheduled ‘airdrop’ and it is hoped Pesetacoin will spread organically via its users, as did bitcoin.

CryptoMP has increased the competitive stakes by referring to rival Spaincoin as “a classic pump-and-dump scam” that would make money for a few early on, before disappearing.
