Once the new cpu mining client is released maybe that can actually happen.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=552718.0

my topic that says Boinc is gonna find the Aliens !!!!

but seriously though if there is a massive boost in hash power and people adopt this coin in big numbers
i could imagine that would be a huge boost to the computing power for scientific applications like used in the SETI project.
what ya guys think ?

Any info about when CPU miner will be avaliable?

Remember that Bitcoin is still beta software. Don't put all of your money into BTC!

All projects are equal, and people with gpus are limited to like 10 projects, why not seti? Tongue

Could someone please tell me where I can get the latest version of the windows QT client?  The upgrade command just crashes the current wallet and i'm on v2.1.0 I believe I need something with a 7 in it.

The one on the website is out of date

The twitter post about an upgrade didnt have any links for download, besides the link someone posted above which is still not the latest version.

Yes, and that link just goes to the damn website anyways.

This is really ****ing rediculous man.  I've been trying to get this coin working for like 3 weeks now to get a user from the exchange refunded their coins.  The linkes on the website don't go to the right version, the twitter I was sent to just gives you the wrong version as well.   Then I get told to type upgrade in the console which just crashes the client on my windows 8.1 installation.

For the love of god why can you not keep your links up to date!

This is owner of C-CEX.com and I am contacting you to bring you up to date with the exchange in reference to the stolen BTC we suffered on February 23rd.

We are working hard to pay back the stolen coins but as you will fully understand you cant please all the people all of the time and we have a few members that are going around bad mouthing the site and giving out false information. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us direct and we will answer you fully and honestly.

We developed much better security and made many improvements to exchange and didn't have any issues since accident.

I tried the windows version in the link:http://www.gridcoin.us/,it is V2.1.0.7 now.

Sometimes when i use chrome to download the wallet from www.gridcoin.us,I can't get the right  version, maybe it is something wrong with the cache of chrome.
When use internet explorer(IE), always can get the right version.

And before install the new version, please uninstall the old one.
If not ,maybe the old one still there.

Sometimes   "-rescan " command  may help, close the wallet software,Use a backup wallet before the transaction happend, run "cmd.exe" in Windows(you can run it in the start menu) ,and use  "cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Gridcoin" to change current directory, use "gridcoin-qt.exe  -rescan" to rescan wallet.

If it doesn't work ,you can try next.

Use a backup wallet before the transaction happend, and rebuild the block chain may resolve the unconfirmed problem.
