There is no benefit, perhaps except if you want to trade them. Most people are okay with distribution from when they can actually start using the wallet.

Remember that the distribution request period has officially been closed as of August 1st (see the newsletters), so we can continue focusing on development.

Your developers are slaving away and yet you can promote now, but not before you distributed IOUs in Bitshares Bank? Why did you even award it 5 months before even if you are only testing it now? That rings a lot of bells and looks like a smart move from you guys to pocket maximum profit.
