1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - GUN Core V2.0 - New Exchange for Guncoin on: February 28, 2024, 05:34:31 PM
Is this completely dead? Are there any devs involved anymore?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - GUN Core V2.0 - New Exchange for Guncoin on: April 27, 2021, 08:06:10 PM
Ok GUN Community, the DEV has smacked up upside the head!  Embarrassed

Anyone in this community work in Marketing/Advertising/PR/Project Management/Copy Writers/Graphic Designers? Time to step up to the plate! Its actually the perfect time in the Crypto market for this.

Lets form a small team and start a Marketing/Adv/PR push for this. Who's in?

Lets start a list of ideas/opportunities and we can take on and tackle 1 at a time..

  • 1. GUN for Charity
  • 2. Send out Press Release that GUN has been accepted on the new exchange
  • 3. Refresh website and branding (then send out Press Release) Smiley
  • ?

GUN for Charity details:
I think the 1 million GUN account for charity is still a good thing to start with here. If we could get 1 Pro 2A organization to agree to accept GUN for donations/membership and advertise that they do this, they get the 1 million GUN. Potentially worth millions to them.

Possible organizations:
  • NRA
  • GOA
  • SAF

Got more?

Brand Refresh Details:
  • Update/New logo/colors/brand
  • update website with new brand
  • ?

Here's one: I own an online business and I will add Guncoin branded products for sale. What about you, what will you do?

What does the community want to see next from Guncoin that would make it more usable for them?...

I have some thoughts on this…

What makes Guncoin unique? Answer: Nothing at this point.

Why is ETH so successful? We all know how unique that is, contracts, DAPs, heck digital art for sale etc.. Bitcoin? Well it was the first. Ravencoin? Asset/Securities ownership. Coins like Cardano/ADA & Algorand? Way better interest than my bank Wink Filecoin? Decentralized cloud storage… etc, etc, etc…

Why would we use Guncoin to make a purchase? Why haven’t retailers taken to Guncoin? Because you can just use BTC. There is really no reason to use GUN. Guncoin needs something to make it unique. Something to set it apart from the 1000 other Bitcoin clones. Just being a Neoscript algorithm also is not enough these days.. And the love of everything firearm related is not enough.

Actually just had an idea: Build in some sort of 2A support into the Guncoin system. Example. Select the 2A charity of your choice in your wallet. Every transaction you make a small percentage is donated to that charity (NRA, CRPA, GOA, SAF etc…). -OR- You select a certain percentage of your GUN to be automatically staked at X% interest. The interest earnings automatically get donated to the charity. You now have a coin with uniqueness: Charitable Donation.

I hope everyone has a nice holiday season.  As a warning, be aware there are several individuals working Telegram for coins making outrageous offers to buy coins.  It really is too good to be true.  They are scammers.  Eventually, they will direct you to one of several "escrow" sites that look legit, but are nothing but a store front to steal your coins.

Some of theses are transactwise.co.uk, chesterpact.com and exchangecrib.com.  All are run by same group of scammers - so beware. The last one is brand new only registered a few weeks ago and the first tow have been around for months and already have scam alerts posted on them.  Please spread this word to other coins that you are aware of that have followings on Telegram. Again - happy holidays to you all and have a safe and happy new year.

Thanks for the head's up...

So I still cant get my Mac wallet to run, same issue as above.

I'm trying to run the Linux wallet on  Debian 10. It launches but is not connecting to any peers. Any thoughts?

If I can get this Linux version to connect I will just copy over my wallet.dat and use it instead..

Update: I got it working. Had to add "prune=0" to the config file to get it to open..

Hm. If you haven't changed the conf file, you can try starting the client with a new, temporary, empty wallet. Save the original wallet in some other data dir, start up the client, if it starts, shut it down and put the original wallet back again. Or, you can try manually adding txindex=1 in the conf file. That overrides gui checkboxes.

Tried both of those and no dice. That pref setting must come from somewhere else on the Mac. Tried deleting ~/Library/prefrences/...guncoin... and didnt fix the issue either.

Basically has become unusable...

Hi All, I checked the Prune option in the wallet and now I get this warning when trying to open the wallet:

"Prune mode is incompatible with -txindex." and it will not open now.

How do I fix this? (Im on Mac wallet version 2.0.0)

Website down? Keep getting 404's when trying to get the latest wallet...
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Guncoin(GUN) - New GUN Core V1.5.2 Released - Mandatory Upgrade on: December 21, 2018, 05:30:15 PM
Just downloaded and installed the Mac wallet. It still shows V1.5.1. Is that correct?

Hmm, I have not seen that one and do own a MAC, so not sure, I will have to check.  But pretty sure, it should say 1.5.2 like the others.  Did you download it from the Github site or from where?

Downloaded from the Guncoin website..

I just downloaded from Github, and it says 1.5.3 now. So, you should check your linked download on your website...

Are you going to post the hashes of the wallet downloads on the website so we can verify they have not been tampered with?

The block explorer is there for all to see and research with - knock yourself out.  Will let you know once our guy finally gets it upgraded.

Maybe I didnt explain well enough... I'm talking about the sha256 hash of the actual wallet download files, the .zip, dmg, etc.. This enables the users downloading the file to check the sha256 hash of the downloaded file against the hash you post on the guncoin.info website so we can verify the download has not been tampered with or hacked and replaced with malicious files unknown to you. The same can be acheived via a GPG signature.

As it is now, we have no way of knowing if the wallet download files on the guncoin.info site are the actual files you created and posted for download.

This is very common and done on most all files that are of importance like a crypto wallet. Check the Bitcoin wallet download page and you will see the links to the hashes (signatures) and also the GPG public key.

Thanks

Additionally, I am running an old version of the wallet, 1.3.0 I believe. Am I safe to run the most current version without having to do anything?

...I would NOT like to see any copyrighted content or material find its way into the current GUN or future GUN blockchain.  I do not think that we want our coin to have that reputation...

Yeah, this is a bad idea. As soon as you make this possible it will be a magnet for criminals. People insert some kiddie p0rn and the coin is done for. NO legitimate business will touch it with a 10ft pole after that. Not to mention the harm it will do to the 2A community...
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Most reputable exchange for US based person? on: February 24, 2017, 02:02:26 PM
Hi All,

What is/are the most reputable/secure exchange to use to buy/sell BTC for someone based in the US?

The ability to withdraw/deposit USD to a US based bank account is needed.

Poloniex seems good but it doesn't seem you can withdraw/deposit US dollars?

Thanks in advance..

Ver 1.1.0.0 is the old MAC wallet, and I don't recall seeing any bug reports for it, so there currently is no 1.2.0.0-beta like there is for windows.

As far as unlocking goes, when you try to send coins it should automatically ask for the wallet password, so no unlocking needed.

The LTC icon has got to go though!!! (this is what happens when stuff gets released without bug testing.......)

It will properly mine though, correct?

I believe that it will CPU mine, not sure on GPU mining (no MAC to test on to verify).  The 1.1.0.0 wallets went out at the neoscrypt switch, assuming that they would work correctly, as they were paid for, to be done by someone that should have known what he was doing.

All new work is being done by someone else, as the 1.1.0.0 coder definitely didn't do any debugging before release, beyond making sure that the wallets would sync and send/receive coins.

There will be no more releases going out with the assumption that they run fine, they will all be debugged as thoroughly as possible.  And we work with what we have until the debugging is done, and the next release is ready.

Well I can confirm it mines properly, just found a couple blocks yesterday. FYI...

Is solo mining on the Mac wallet fixed?
It reports 0.0 KH/s

I also don't see any way to unlock the wallet. And still using the Litecoin icon?

version: v1.1.0.0-gddaabbcc

EDIT: Ok now it reports 10.8KH/s

OK did some reading, got a copy of minerd and placed it in the /usr/bin folder. Got this output:

Code:
minerd -a neoscrypt -s 1 -o stratum+tcp://cryptopool.nl:3337 -O usr password -t 8 -r -1 -P
Miner started. You might not see any output for a few minutes.
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libidn.11.dylib
Reference from: .usr/bin/minerd
Reason: image not found
Miner exited.

--EDIT
Got a new version of minerd, now I get the error"miner unknown algorithm"..

OK, so tried pool mining got this result:

"Miner failed to start. Make sure you have the miners executable in the same directory as Phoenixcoin-Qt."

Can someone explain that please..

PS Using the Mac wallet on 10.10.4
