2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Could the PCI X16 72 core Processor bring killer hashrates? on: November 17, 2015, 09:33:52 PM
Nah, GPUs have thousands of streaming processors and are better suited for hashing except for maybe a couple of algos.

And I'd imagine this thing will cost a fortune compared to GPUs.
Like I was saying that server equipment is cheap after a couple years, just look at the prices of used xeon processors that are just a couple years old but you're right gpus will probably still blow these out of the water for MOST algorithms.

Well the Cryptonight algo. comes to mind (Monero, Bytecoin, etc) where the main bottleneck is memory speed (in CPUs it would be the L3 cache, GPUs it would be GDDR5). The memory that the intel PCI card has seems to be around twice as fast as your typical set of GDDR5
Quote
Knights Landing ... providing up to 500GB/sec of memory bandwidth
in which case depending on the price of the thing, it should be more effective at mining this algo than GPUs. When compared to full CPUs it's a different story because GDDR5 memory is slower than the CPU L3 cache and doesn't have as good random access speed.

However if you make a miner for this intel PCI card you could have a bunch of concurrent instances of the miner which sounds like it would crush through (Plenty of cores to have multiple instances of the miner + memory twice as fast as your typical GPU). No way of telling until someone tests it though. Also someone needs to make a miner for the thing before anything
3  Economy / Services / [WEB DEVELOPER & MORE] Looking to expand my portfolio & experience! on: September 11, 2015, 05:27:22 PM

First Client:
https://github.com/BurnBabyBurn71/PWYW_Faucet

A simple one, essentially merge two existing open-source websites into one, and modifying it for use as a cryptocurrency faucet. The two websites are "Transitions-for-off-canvas-navigations" and "FullscreenForm".

Live in-development Preview: http://htmlpreview.github.io/?https://github.com/BurnBabyBurn71/PWYW_Faucet/blob/master/index.html

Second Client:
https://github.com/BurnBabyBurn71/PWYW_Digitalcoin_Foundation

The mission is to create a website for the "Digitalcoin Foundation". Due to the delay I've decieded to go with Bootstrap as the framework of this website to speed up developement. The website's background image before you scroll was based on an image found online but I couldn't track it down to a single person to credit. It was then heavily edited in GIMP so it would work better with the way I designed the website, which was fun (not). Although a lot of code here is pre-existing, I've had to heavily edit it all as well as my own snippets of JQuery, CSS and of course HTML.

4  Economy / Services / Re: Logo design needed for BitcoinChat - Offering 0.5 Btc on: June 20, 2015, 06:37:21 PM
Logo itself:

Banner: (same format as the Bitcoin Chat website logo/banner thing, which I assume you want replaced)

Simple, understandable at a glance, and most importantly: beautiful and modern Wink

I also forgot to mention this logo scales really well. The logo is clear as a small icon in the tab bar of your browser, which is an important factor to consider for a website that wants to look professional and give the best possible user experience to their viewers.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI (New Thread!) on: December 09, 2014, 11:21:09 AM

Dormant like an alien seed. Can be like that for years, and spring to life suddenly. It all depends on who picks it up.

There are actually a large number of holders, who also hold many other cryptocurrencies. The potential community for Animecoin is similar to the whole crypto community. Generally, the BTCTalk threads are not indicative : they mostly contain negativistic posts from easily disappointed holders.

I am happy to hold Anime (among many others), until /if it revives virally. That usually happens where a large stake is sold cheaply, and picked up by a strong player. Many Cryptocommunity members have a similar attitude.

The chances of this coin reviving are low, sorry to break the news to you. I, much like you would love this coin to suddenly jump to life, but unfortunately this is unlikely. It seems that hardly anyone else is interested in this coin. The anime community is small in and of itself, that combined with alt cryptocurrencies is even smaller so its no wonder the community is so small. I believe this coin does have a bright future, but that future is far from today.

For now, we can either wait, or work. It seems like most would rather wait, which is understandable. As it stands now, I think that there just isn't enough interest in this coin for any significant progress to be made.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI (New Thread!) on: December 09, 2014, 11:15:19 AM
network is very weak
no development

Development exists, but it is extremely slow due to lack of support

Network is weak because there isn't enough people

What is unique?
to have hope

I suppose it would be the mining algorithm and the coin's demographic (anime fans) as well as future uses for buying anime, supporting anime creators, etc
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI (New Thread!) on: December 07, 2014, 04:47:15 AM
dead?

Its been like this forever, nobody is doing anything to fix this coin and nothing will come of nothing. There's hardly anyone who cares about animecoin, the main thing this coin had going for it was the support of the anime community, which it doesn't have anymore. Maybe if a more functional animecoin, i.e. one that actually helps the anime community or creators in some way was created, then maybe this idea would be more successful. This animecoin though, has pretty much nothing going for it, with a pitiful community of only a few random guys. The sad thing is, this coin could have been so much more.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero officially dead? on: November 29, 2014, 12:02:23 PM
By your stupid fucking logic if any coin loses value then its dead. Seriously, is that your only reason why you think Monero is dead? Either you're a fucking idiot or  you're being a malicious destructive dickhead who likes to have internet fights between cryptocurrencies on forums and try to destroy cryptocurrencies.

Monero deaded  Cry  Cry

Rpietila may had spent all your  Monero-Dineros  Cry  Cry

one could only hope so.. getting REALLY tired of these guys :/

Retarded thread full of retarded people  Cheesy

I completely destroyed everyone's arguments against Monero, job done. Now if anyone has a real argument please let me know, I'm willing to tell you why you are wrong and why you are a terrible human being.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero officially dead? on: November 29, 2014, 12:00:36 PM
Big sells today, whatever will happen?

Their investors got cold feet because bitcoin price dropped this tells you exactly what this coin is just a Pump and Dump coin and no real big supporter.

Evidence on any of what you said? No real big supporter of what exactly? The fact that you probably see Monero as competition means any of what you say about Monero is incredibly biased and unreliable. So why waste your time here?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero officially dead? on: November 29, 2014, 11:57:58 AM
Monero is a $hitcoin of Cryptonote and Cryptonote itself never did well.  It seems like Monero was just a pump and dump by Rpietila, who recently re-entered a psychotic episode and thinks he is a king of some Medieval realm.

http://youtu.be/QANHxv2HTgg?t=10s

Rpietila has a long history on the internet.  Allegations are years ago he was posting all sorts of crazy videos on YouTube, it's overwhelming.

Where to start..

Quote
$hitcoin

Monero has the largest and most competent dev team out of all of the cryptonote coins

Quote
Cryptonote never did well

What does this even mean? In works, its useful, people use it, so it did well... If you mean it didn't make you any money and now your butthurt then you're pathetic

Quote
was just a pump and dump by Rpietila

Was implies its all over now, which it isn't. The Monero bubble is long in the past, so the idea of pump and dump is irrelevant. The fact that Monero isn't a pump and dump might be the reason why not enough people are buying.

Good time to buy in I guess

Hi All. I'm going to transfer some money into BTC tomorrow morning. I want to purchase some more XMR but I'm worried. Where is the bottom? .0017? .0016? .0015? Anyone have any idea ? I'm going to guess .0016 but who knows.
It touched 15 on Bittrex a while ago, although Bittrex has basically no volume.

850k ITO marketcap, that's easy money, should touch 2kk without problem.

I'm in 10 BTC

10 BTC? That's one big bet, the Munne ICO worked well for me so It's tempting to put a lot of money into this as well. It looks really promising, but unlike Munne this coin is far from under the radar, and there are no pump groups that I know of that are looking at this coin. I'm not sure how this will affect the future price, but it'll be interesting for sure. I'll be along for the ride.

Price continues to fall...
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 26, 2014, 03:24:21 PM
Instead of looking at movies and other distractions, how about the devs focus on strengthening XMR. The price is falling and continues to fall. There is no real GUI (except from 3rd party), the database memory issue still hasn't been solved and there is no clear direction. I'm afraid a lot of people will lose interest and move onto something else.
Let's focus on this coin and not the distractions surrounding it.

Marketing is just as important as the tech itself in terms of price. A GUI and database memory issue fix won't increase the price, in fact it might do the opposite thanks to "buy on rumour sell on news". I hope you're aware that the high emission of Monero is also really contributing to the lowering price as well.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 26, 2014, 08:14:50 AM

Hey what if we make a Monero movie like "The rise and rise of Bitcoin" ?

Something simple like the devs working and explaining what they are doing with human understandable sentences and Monero supporters explaining their vision and ideas and also some miners building crazy big rigs.
Sounds cool, ambitious. I like it. It'll give Monero a wider market, not just techies. I'm up for it. Someone mentioned earlier in this thread how Supercoin failed due to lack of marketing and stuff even though it had good technology. Don't want the same thing to happen to Monero.

Did everyone come to some sort of agreement?

No. More like everyone had a different opinion.

So you decided to leave things the way they are?

How about a http://strawpoll.me/

so its monero a good coin to mine ?
i have a fx  6300 and gt 430.I can have almost 500/h/s
Where can i exchange my monero? or is it good to stay in my wallet till it increases
Right now I would mine Dashcoin right now (most profitable cryptonote coin), and you can trade Dashcoin for Monero on Poloniex like I'm doing. Check out minergate.com. Its really easy to setup and good for beginners. The GUI miner they have will work for your GPU too. Selling your Monero for BTC isn't really good right now though, since there are already too many people selling Monero causing the price to decrease. But you're free to do what you like.

I thought DSH was delisted from Poloniex.
Maybe, but there is still a DSH/XMR market. Dashcoin actually has the most volume in the XMR markets.
