1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. True 3.0 crypto on: August 16, 2014, 12:37:26 PM
Hi Guys,

Have an issue with my CUR wallet. I downloaded the wallet and and installed it yesterday. I have mined around 45 coins which are in the wallet right now. At the bottom left of the wallet, i see an error which says "Info: Minting suspended due to locked wallet". I cannot find any option anywhere to unlock the wallet so that minting takes place. I have a Latium wallet which gives me the same error, but there is a button on the wallet which enables me to unlock it. I have checked all the options on the cure wallet, but cannot find anyway to unlock it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

CureCoin's Proof of Stake mintage begins in 30 days, and maxes out in 90. While your stake is higher the closer you get to 90, you may find better returns by regularly minting closer to 30 days.
The CureCoin wallet takes care of this whole process for you. It must be unlocked and open in order to Mint.
To Unlock your wallet, go to "Help" > "Debug Window" and choose the Console tab. Here, enter 'walletpassphrase <your password> 99999999 true' and hit enter*. As a precautionary measure, clear the console window and then close it. After a few moments, your wallet will be ready to mint.
The above unlocking procedure only applies to Encrypted Wallets. An unencrypted wallet will mint, but is unsecure. Its recommended that you ALWAYS encrypt your wallet.
*99999999 is the time, in seconds, to remain unlocked. You may choose to unlock for shorter periods, if you like, but run the chance of re-locking before mintage is complete.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

my wallet is encrypted and i tried the steps suggested, i get a message: Method not found (code -32601). What does this mean? Should I just wait and try closer to the POS mintage date? I think its crazy that we need to unlock the wallet this way, especially when it comes to typing in your passphrase into a terminal window, not sure that is very safe! Shouldn't the dev look at an easier method to unlock the wallet? Just saying, since i find it much easier on Lat.

Did you paste this in to the therminal?
walletpassphrase <your password> 99999999 true
and changed <your password> to your password?
with your password:
walletpassphrase 1234 99999999 true
It's working I'm using it!

I'm back from the investigation of the foldingcoin.
1: It's no "coin" it's a token without any exchange.
2: Only online strorage.
3: No solid dev team.
4: No interest by folders, I was 90% of the folding power.
5: All tokens in one place distributed once a week.

GO CureCoin!
//Aboy68

Please make curecoin 2.0 a distributed solid coin, we will only have one chance to fix mayor issues miners did not like.
Please add features pure buyers would like to have!
Thats the plan! Any other features you want to suggest for other buyers?

Im not any specialist on this subject, but....
1: A debit card, Where VISA/MC are accepted. Using Curecoin...
2: secret transactions.
3: Quick transactions.
4: Use your cell phone to buy with using curecoin.
......

how long it takes to shows address on stat page?

You need to send a complete working unit back to standford first, then later you show up on the stat pages.
A wu can take hours or days .... you have to check that in you GUI of your folding software.

if you can make it more smart
that somehow new coins will be generated every week automatically (without premine)
and will be distributed safely among all folders

Do you have any ide?
I think it's almost impossible now when you only do folding, we don't need any mining on a block-chain to secure the net.
If every transaction is reported in a excel file, the community can trace back and check if the developers are doing "wrong" things with the coins. Weekly payments to folders etc....
And if the coins are stored in a "secure" way so no one will ever hack the wallet.

Then I'm happy with the handle of the coins.

I'm going to throw some hash power at this. What plans do you have for the future of Cure?

They are purely ideas that we are tweaking and researching, but some points of mention:
-Quantum-computing-resistant signing algorithm (thinking Lamport)
-Peer-to-peer layered-encrypted traffic
-Multisignature and round-signature addresses
-Wallet ease of use for merchants (rather than continually pining the client "Did I get a transaction on <address?>" you can tell the client "When you get a transaction larger than <amount> on address <address> do <something>"
-Certificate-based blockchain (universities or other entities providing meaningful distributed computing projects issue certificates to users for work done, which are valid for creating blocks on the curecoin network, and could be used to do distributed folding "pools")
-Wallet which enables the locking/unlocking of specific addresses or address pools
-Distributed blockchain storage (where clients, using a simple AI, pool together, each holding certain parts of the blockchain, and redundantly querrying other peers for blocks that they don't have stored)
-A wallet in 'server' mode which would allow any simple 'thin client' to store only private/public keys, and to query a full wallet for txhistory, and to submit transactions signed client-side to the network
-A contract system with built-in software checksums (Two users want to make a contract for a service. One builds a program that verifies the service has been completed. The other verifies this external program is valid. The checksum of the program is taken and written into the contract. Upon either party invoking a completion request, the program is executed on both machines. If the results agree, the contract is finished. If not, then the contract can be contested and a third-party can step in and run the program and verify the result. Programs would be built in a custom scripting language built into the network. This idea is very rough, and very likely to never see prime time. It's an interesting concept though!

Anyhow, nothing above is guaranteed, but we're doing our research, writing test code, testing attack vectors, etc.

This sounds great even if I can't understand half of it.
The question is what are we doing in short time to make people buy the coin?!
Have we identified the actions/features needed to be a "buy" coin?
Or are we happy with this low attention from the community?

The difference between this coin and CureCoin is that CurCoin requires ASIC miners to mine their coin to help keep the integrity of their coin. The problem with this is that it is still possible to attack the coin if you move more miners over to this coin. As for FoldingCoin is built on the http://www.counterparty.co protocol which is built on top off the Bitcoin network and is secured by Bitcoin miners.

And in response to the premine, i understand that premine is bad. The only way to make this coin possible to help the Folding Network is by premining though as you are not mining a coin directly. Their are 2 reasons why you should trust the coin though:

1. I am actively trying to get Stanford to control the coin directly therefore it is an established organization you can trust
2. ASIC have destroyed GPU mining and their are no other options

Hi

How does you development plan looks like for FoldingCoin?
What's your plans for making this coin worth buying?

Quick Dev Update:

We had a G+ Chat for a few hours to hammer down the conference details. We are planning on having two standing banners, and a table runner. FifthGB made an awesome Android informational app you can download here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.conduit.app_f160cb96dde1445793dc95ed77265ae3.app and I'll be working with him to get it onto the iOS store as well. Bitcoin conference reservation is set in stone, and the Curecoin booth will be open for business. Smiley

In other news, I'm putting the finishing touches on a simple visually-oriented document outlining how a certificate-based blockchain will work, though keep in mind the development and integration of such a system is quite a ways in the future, and involves multiple participating universities. For clarification, if such a system is implemented, all curecoins *will* transfer over to the new system. We're not going to start fresh or anything silly like that.

So excited for the conference should bring alot of press and attention to this project!

You are doing a great work, keep on believe in cures!

What is going that the price still dropping?
It's quite simple really.  The majority of people aren't interested in helping anyone in this world and the only people having any real interest in this coin are the miners who seem only too happy to dump at pointless prices.
Plus the only real exchange it is on(poloniex) is being heavily manipulated by a bot which no one wants to trade against.

Without reading back through pages of this thread.. have there been any recent developments on CureCoin? Just wondering why net hash has recently increased 10x.

We've got a few things in the works, we'll be announcing some cool stuff soon. Like, in the next week. Smiley

I like cool stuff! Bring it!

1: to resync works with GPU's (99.99%) Im runing process lasso and sets a watchdog of CPU time 1% at 300 sec to terminate process - WORKS!
2: to get stable system and no FAIL GPU's I set the motherboard VGA graphis as the main graphic.
3: Set the motherboard PCIe version 2 to gain stability.
4: Using stock bios on GPU's

Technical report: I have had 2 computers with FAIL GPU's, they did report NaN "Not a Number" error and ended with a 'RED' FAIL status of that GPU. I have tried to set my motherboard VGA graphic as main graphic and since then the GPU is working FINE! Now 24h of sucess.

When you do so the information about the GPU like temperature and MHz are blocked out from Windows, but with folding there is no issue with not having that information because the GPU's are not running warm.

YES! Now 100% of my GPUs are running fine and are producing 130000 to 150000 PPD each. AMD 280x cards.

Did get more Minted coins today! The minted coins are they regularly like every day or are they depending on when your coins came in to the wallet. What should we expect?

//Aboy68

Are you talking about the "PoF" (Proof of Stake) blocks? If so, those are usually 30 days after the staking coins first entered your wallet Smiley

Yepp, thanks.

To run statistics in PPD are not the best way to show your performance.
Like these couple of day the performance have degraded if you count PPD, but what I can see. everybodys points have gone down.
It would be better to get a graf with your % of curecoin folding to check if you are doing what your hardware should do.

If someone handy reads this and have time and energy it would be nice to have  Cheesy
A graf like http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com in % and but on the curecoin webpage.... related to our share of coins.

Hey Aboy68, PPLNS was adjusted a while ago to make payouts more reflective of daily performance, but it seems some people's payouts are still lower than they expected. Unfortunately Cygnus-XI has some IRL stuff to deal with these next few days, but we'll be looking into it more shortly. However, did you notice recently that the payouts have been closer to what you're expecting?

The last two days have been closer to expected. I hope it stays like that.

Thanks.
