1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 16, 2016, 10:04:11 PM
why is there such low volume on bitstamp? is there any controversy surrounding the exchange? i used to hold it in the highest regard.

I don't think it's ever done a proof of reserves since it got hacked, and it wants more KYC than some other exchanges. The exchanges that want retinal scans, passports, bank statements, fingerprint scans, mortgage scans, 20 different types of government ID, etc aren't the most popular exchanges. Nobody knows why, it's just the way it is.

What's the difference between Mentrio's intellectual property management framework and Ascribe's intellectual property management service?. Also Factom provides an unalterable record-keeping system. What's the difference between Mentrio and Factom?

Ascribe is offering its intellectual property management services to the artists, collectors and galleries. It's an innovative use of Blockchain technology.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Import litecoin paper wallet on: July 04, 2015, 05:25:28 PM
How do I import an LTC paper wallet without having to download the litecoin-QT? Is thee an online wallet or a faster normal wallet? Or any android app?

This is good question. As soon as you start to check all awailable wallets, you will find out, that they are crap. Android wallet does not support paper wallet import. Other clients are heavy. Electrum wallet works without blockchain download, but it does not work with paper wallet import via QR codes + has some other issues with hardware wallets. LTC definitelly need Mycelium android wallet clone.

I thought someone would have done a good multibit type of wallet for litecoin by now. There have been some extremely questionable dodgy attempts, but nothing endorsed by the litecoin community yet. The last attempts I checked out were closed source and the community advised that they were probably scams.

My girlfriend has her own business & a lot of her supplies are made in China, it's the Dragon Boat Festival this weekend so literally all of China grinds to a halt this weekend. The factories that supply my partner emailed her to let her know there may be a delay with her deliveries. Any way I just thought I'd mention this here, might be a reason why the BTC price has dipped a bit if it's like holiday season in China, banks are closed etc.
You can read about the festival here -  http://www.chinahighlights.com/festivals/dragon-boat-festival.htm

That's useful, I only knew about the whole of China grinding to a halt for new year celebrations. The Dragon Boat Festival sounds like it has a similar effect if all the banks are closed because of it. That could make a big difference to Bitcoin's price on Monday morning.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a forkless altcoin? on: June 21, 2015, 07:12:37 PM
I don't think so unless someone has come up with something besides proof of work, or proof of stake.

I don't really understand how DPOS works, that might be forkless.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Block Size Conflict Ends With Latest Update on: June 21, 2015, 03:23:25 PM
.......

Parameters are:

    8MB cap
Doubling every two years (so 16MB in 2018)
    For twenty years
   ....

Does that mean in 20 years after it starts doubling the blocks will be 8192 MB, which is 8.192 GB per block?

Have I done my maths right?

8 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 8192

To keep it simple I'm not considering the difference between mebibytes and megabytes.

So I was checking out Bitstamp, and I see this automated buying and selling of 0.03 Btc almost continuously.  What is the point of that?   Won't the trading charges offset any gains?    Or, is it some automated system managed by bitstamp to generate volume?   Any ideas?

You might be right about that, Bitstamp has dropped below the top five exchanges for volume a few times. They might have decided to start buying and selling to themselves to ensure they stay in the top five. Bitstamp wouldn't pay any trading charges so it wouldn't cost them anything.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who will become a trillionaire first: Bill Gates or Satoshi? on: June 21, 2015, 12:14:19 PM
I guess it is more beneficial in the long run to be a bitcoin millionaire than a fiat trillionaire Wink

Bill Gates wealth did not grow that fast over the recent years right? He still has a long way to go..

How do you know that Bill Gates do not own 1,000,000 BTC ? ... it would be less than 1% of his wealth in BTC

How do you know that Bill Gates isn't Satoshi? In that case both Bill Gates and Satoshi would become trillionaires at exactly the same time and a damn sight faster than anyone would have expected.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who will become a trillionaire first: Bill Gates or Satoshi? on: June 20, 2015, 11:00:36 PM
Many bankers are trillionaires, especially the FED's stock holder, which is a guarded secret. The ownership of banks can become extremely complex thus no one really understand who owns the bank, but bank owners are definitely among the trillionaire club

In fact, the ownership is not important, the most important is the ability to control. Even if you have no money at your personal account, but you can control a bank to drive large acquisition operation, you can achieve much more influence than Bill Gates. And I suppose that banks can freeze Bill Gates' account easily, so Bill Gates really have no control over any bank, he is the game player while the banks are game designer

Before, nobles and kings used to have control over banks, but Rothschild family invented the way to virtualize their wealth into stocks/bonds/asset certificates around the world, thus avoided control from the greedy monarchs

Bill Gates's maternal grandfather was J.W Maxwell, the creator and president of Seattle's National City bank. At a guess he probably owned a large share of that bank, and controlled it. Bill Gates's family was probably already extremely rich before he was even born. Perhaps the money he has added to that of his extended family would already make a trillion.

seems the poll is heavily leaning bullish..... makes me think the opposite will happen.

Historically speaking the highest poll vote is more often wrong than right. If the top vote is for going up >300 then it will probably either go up less than that, sideways, or down.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Executive Says 21 Million Cap Increase Inevitable on: June 20, 2015, 08:02:28 PM
I stopped reading at "Bitcoin Foundation". They can say whatever they want about Bitcoin, as they have nothing to lose... If he thinks the coin cap will be raised, he's out of his mind.

Jon Matonis is a former Bitcoin Foundation director, which makes his opinion even more worthless than the current director's. Since Bruce Fenton proposed removing Satoshi from the founding members the whole organization has become a liability to Bitcoin. Bitcoin would be better off without the Bitcoin Foundation and the stupid proposals of it's directors.

Why isn't there any link to the source code? Please provide a link to a github of it. It also needs a block explorer.

The logo sucks too, it looks like it was done in paint it's so basic.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are Altcoins??? on: June 19, 2015, 09:08:18 PM
There is a list of 645 altcoins and their prices at this link.

http://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/

Everything on it excluding bitcoin is an altcoin. The default prices are in USD and if you want them in bitcoin then click the USD drop down and select bitcoin from the list.

There are more altcoins besides those on the coinmarketcap.com page but they are unlikely to be traded on exchanges.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This is your last chance to jump on the Doge train before it explodes on: May 13, 2015, 09:10:27 PM
I still don't believe dogecoin will go above 50 satoshi anytime soon.
Coin supply is too much and many people are tired of it by now. They is no novelty in dogecoin.

It's going back down again now, I don't think dogecoin will go above 50 satoshi anytime soon either.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Ethereum??? on: April 29, 2015, 09:04:25 PM
It promises to provide smart contract features and there was a huge IPO for it that raised about 30 thousand Bitcoins.

What ever happened to merge mining with that other Lyra2 coin ?

Merge mining is another crypto fad that seems to have run its course.

Like litecoin and doge coin ?

Litecoin miners are not going to turn down free Doge coins.

Cease fire! The pointless bickering doesn't help either coin.

Will do.
He just needs to stop telling lies and stop spamming, Dont f*ck with personal information and really,REALLY dont F*CK with my business.

It's good seeing a non-self moderated thread, but the disadvantage of them is arguments raging for page after page. Any newbies reading arguments tend to get put off the coin.

I don't understand  Huh

So can we mine or is it a pure POS?
we do not hold mining, the task we undertake a concept that is not used by many other developers, and we provide a pure POS for shareholders lenteracoin 2.5% per month. and keep in mind we provide evidence not promise, we always give our latest updates through our social media, thank you, first there will not be a dump of our coin price

How can you guarantee there will not be a dump of the coin's price? Most coins have a crash in price sooner or later, including bitcoin.
