We would like to officially announce that BitcoinNotify service has been sold to the CoinExchanger. CoinExchanger offered the best price, good enough to stop the ongoing auction immediately. CoinExchanger expressed the will to keep the service online as it is (although of course he is not obliged to). While there has been some slight controversy surrounding the forum user behind CoinExchanger, I must admit the negotiations and transaction were a sheer pleasure and CoinExchanger earned my personal trust. Changing the ownership means that Polish company iVirtuo.com who created and operated the service until today, is no longer responsible for it. The official BitcoinNotify.com forum user account will be passed to the new owner on Monday. We wish the new owner all the best and hope the service will thrive under the new management!

Don't worry too much. I wouldn't be surprised if this is merely a publicity stunt. Unless they receive some largely profitable offer, I imagine they will "sell" it back to themselves aka a "private bidder" and settle for the free exposure.
That's my conspiracy theory for the night. Tune in tomorrow — same Bat-time, same Bat-channel! That's a very clever PR idea but I'll save it for the next time ;-) The closure / sell is for real.

I officialy confirm the above statement. BitcoinNotify was put on sale in a blind auction model several hours ago. Just to let you now, there are already three buy offers better than initial 99 BTC. This means BitcoinNotify will NOT be open sourced but will be sold to the highest bidder. The blind auction continues until this Sunday, 13 of November 2011. Feel free to join by submitting an amount you are willing to pay to bitcoinnotify@bitcoinnotify.comThank you for your interest in BitcoinNotify. I'm positively surprised by the quality of offers and volume of interest the statement generated so far.

I have manually POST-ed your URL with an independent tool - cREST client plugin for Chrome - and the result is the same "Array ( )", which means there is something wrong with your server configuration or PHP script. Random ideas: 1) As far as I know the $_POST is deprecated in PHP. Perhaps try a more recent function? 2) Remember that with POST, parameters are sent in the HTTP request body, not in the URL (just in case this matters).

@joepie91: this is great idea. It is the next step in a trend to not relying on a (single) 3rd party when it comes to your money.

Unless you watch the charts 24/7, it may be helpful to set up price notifications. Don't miss the bargain - get notified by SMS, e-mail or Jabber whenever the price changes or reaches a certain value. And even if you track the prices 24/7 you may still want your Jabber client to tell you about every single price change on major exchanges. All this is possible at https://bitcoinnotify.com - hopefully you will find it useful.

I'm happy to see more and more individuals and businesses tracking Bitcoin payments through BitcoinNotify. By popular demand https://britcoin.co.uk and https://bitchange.pl exchanges has been added. This allows you to get notified about Bitcoin prices in GBP and PLN to complement already available USD and EUR. Subscribe price notifications to adjust prices in your store or simply if you seek bargain. I don't like to repeat my self, but this is worth stressing - BitcoinNotify is a "keep your wallet offline and sleep well" service for Merchants. BitcoinNotify automates accepting Bitcoins to your wallet by monitoring the Bitcoin network. This is in contrast to MyBitcoin and other available solutions.

@BitcoinSMS - can you tell what bulk sms service provider do you use? At BitcoinNotify.com I use BulkSMS, and I'm so far happy with their service and prices. (BitcoinNotify delivers SMS notifications about Bitcoin prices and payments; does NOT allow sending arbitrary SMS-es; i.e. it's not your competition) Good luck with the service!

Legal uncertainty surely killed many ideas, including several mine. This why I choosed "notifications" business model for BitcoinNotify which, as I ensured, is fully compliant with all applicable laws: https://bitcoinnotify.com/contact

Is there a way I can get the value of Bitcoin E-Mailed to me each day. Also if such services exits is there one where you put values in that when they these values are reached I get an E-Mail Alert automatically. Yes, BitcoinNotify.com does what you want. E-mail, Jabber, SMS, and HTTP request notifications are available. Get notifications when: - bitcoin price changes on major exchanges (i.e. matches certain threshold)
- you receive Bitcoins
- hashing difficulty is adjusted

Bitcoin technology is so appealing... Yeah, this is where it's a problem for me. As I've posted here already, I have major concerns about scalability of BitCoin, so I don't find the technology so "appealing". I find the idea appealing, but not the current implementation. Scalability concerns have been very well addressed here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Scalability (AFAIK by google employee). I can't say I lost all faith, but I have a strong feeling that BitCoin is dying (not to spread FUD or anything)... What really, fundamentally matters is the infrastructure (exchanges, merchant solutions, businesses accepting Bitcoins, ...). This area is stronger than ever. Just have a look how SilkRoad is flourishing

This is not a troll thread. I ask a simple question, if you start spewing crap about this being a troll thread then you are the troll. This is a legitimate question and I see no reason why it doesn't have a place on this forum.
How many of you guys have lost faith in Bitcoin and sold almost all of yours?
Bitcoin technology is so appealing and addicting I can't possibly imagine "loosing faith". In fact, it's not about "faith", it's about understanding the underlying technology and intrinsic advantages.

Im in the middle of creating a minecraft gsp, that accepts bitcoins for payment. [...] Is there any other way i can setup btc payments through whmcs, or something along those lines? You may want to have a look at BitcoinNotify. Accepting Bitcoin payments is as simple as handling HTTP requests. - payments go directly to your private wallet - trust no 3rd party
- keep your wallet disconnected from the network so it can never be stollen by hackers
- there is nothing to install on the server
- there is no external API to call
- customer never leaves your store (no 3rd party site involved)
- receive HTTP updates of the BTC exchange rates
See how to accept Bitcoin payments for details. Feel free to pm me if you need any help.

http://www.technologyreview.com/computing/38392/Money quote: "if you think that bitcoins are going to become more and more popular, then—again—it's foolish to spend your bitcoins today. The rational thing to do is hoard them and eventually sell them to new users. But that means there will be fewer bitcoins in circulation (and more in people's virtual wallets), making them less useful as an actual medium of exchange and making it less likely that businesses and consumers will ever see Bitcoin as legitimate." We seem to be getting quite a bit of negative publicity at the moment. Hopefully the low current value of Bitcoin means that people will indeed use it as a currency rather than hoard it Bitcoin Wiki explains this issue very well: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deflationary_spiral

User pays bitcoins to the server. Server can see how many bitcoins user paid. Server pays another user or the original user an amount of bitcoins. https://bitcoinnotify.com solves at least half of your problem - you can receive payment notifications as HTTP requests.
