Everyone please relax. It is true that I have been unwell and that I was hospitalized for an extended period. I have not yet resumed any activity of interest. Those of you who follow the IRC would have seen that family members have continued posting news links on my behalf throughout my absence. Many thanks to all who expressed concern. Normal services will be resumed as soon as practicable.

Share a smile with someone new today Cheesy

good amount talk about the future. I do have to ask now that grow coin has gone scam....

Registry Registrant ID: Not Available From Registry
Registrant Name: Registration Private
Registrant Organization: Domains By Proxy, LLC
Registrant Street: DomainsByProxy.com

whats with the domain privacy? Is there any transparency for who is actually in charge of this coin? would love to invest but would prefer to see some more documentation. The more transparent the company is the more investors are interested.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=829975.0

Can you explain the above post about a pre mine ? It appears they have solid evidence as to where the funds went.

No idea what you are talking about with grow coin, you might be on the wrong thread.

As far as the recycled nonsense about the premine goes, CannabisCoin was first launched as a scrypt coin, later converted to X11, I don't think there was any trading of the scrypt version coins, they were never on an exchange. At conversion sufficient X11 coins had to be produced to cover all outstanding scrypt. A significant number were subsequently burned (sent off chain to addresses for which there are no known private keys). Youtube_1 Youtube_2.

^^wallet might need a few restarts to get through the tough spots

restarted half-a-dozen times and still stuck  Cry

Just uploaded a new bootstrap file for you. Please check the OP link to verify this as an official CannabisCoin distributed file.

Download and check the new file*:

You can check the zip file before unpacking it with the check sums:
md5sum: c8fe370259ed0e6dcabf3541ec491704
sha256sum: 7172c251c2c134792b374a6786686a2fee43b29e917f8c15f930a331928faad4

You'll need these once you unpack the zip file:

bootstrap.dat file, created at Mon 27 Jun 2016 10:34:24 AEST
md5sum: 1f15bb77a2b9df8729c832bb24ed5e9f
sha256sum: c3054d913a5e6996891ca8d52861bfdf3f3440b0c71beaca246f05a43a998895

Once you are happy with the integrity of the file unzip it to ~/Library/CannabisCoin and then restart the wallet. The wallet will prefer the bootstrap.dat file and load the chain from disk before renaming the file bootstrap.old and continuing to sync with the network. You may delete the file bootstrap.old or leave it if you have sufficient hard drive space. Renaming the file bootstrap.dat and restarting the wallet is all that's required if you ever need to download the blockchain again for some obscure reason. Make sure you back up your wallet.dat file once you have coins, everything else can always be recovered.

*You should verify this file before using it. To do so on a Mac open a terminal window (open spotlight & type "term" or in Finder double click ~/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and type the command "md5 path_to_file" (tip: you can type md5 and leave a space, then drag the file to check into the terminal window) and check that the response matches that listed above. To use shasum type "shasum -a 256 path_to_file". Either of these will give you reasonable certainty that the file has not been tampered with or otherwise corrupted.

Feel free to PM me if you have any further difficulties.

[edited for spelling]

OP link has been updated.

Trying to download the CannabisCoin blockchain.  No block source available. 0 active connections.

Is there something I need to do with a .conf file?  I'm on a mac.  Any help on file to create, what to name it, and what nodes to place inside would be helpful.  Or alternate simpler solution?

Try:
Quote
addnode=seed.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed2.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed3.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed4.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed5.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=194.135.90.175
in ~/Library/CannabisCoin/CannabisCoin.conf
and you should be good to go

It is certainly interesting news although I don't think it suggests the best result. I fear the long-term consequence of Schedule II listing could be the creation of conditions where only large corporations will be able to survive the costs of FDA compliance.

Think about it.

Every formulation will need FDA approval and every medical claim will have to be clinically proven, that is very expensive to do. Big Pharma, anyone?

Each batch will have to be tested and blended to meet very precise content requirements. Can these requirements be met outside pill/capsule form? Oils and tinctures may be able to meet such standards but what about whole plant juicers? How can their needs be met under FDA control?

What happens to home-grow under FDA control? You can't grow opium poppies because opiates are Schedule II drugs so it is highly unlikely cannabis home-grow will be Federally-permitted under an S2 listing.

I'd love people to allay my fears so please, feel free to contradict me. I'd love to hear from you here.

Meanwhile, keep investing in smiles, the rewards are awesome! Cheesy

i`m pretty new on this...
how much weed/cann was give to patient since start? ..or was it a scam on poor patients?

Hi Saul, thanks for your interest.

To date, all produce from trial crops not destroyed in testing has been donated to patients. In addition to this cooperative dispensaries have donated some of their own inventory during proof of concept testing. The first commercial scale crop will be this northern hemisphere's summer outdoor grow. More general information.

Here's some more "trivia" for which readers should be prepared:

Quote
Cannabis IS addictive - and smoking it harms the brain permanently

It's long been known people who begin smoking marijuana occasionally can soon become addicted. Now, scientists have discovered why: smoking cannabis long term disrupts certain brain circuits, leading to cravings and dependency. They found the part of the brain associated with reward lit up when people looked at pictures of cannabis or associated items like bongs. These changes mark the difference between occasional users and people who have become dependent, researchers said. ...

On what do they base these startling conclusions, you might ask? I'm glad you did. The bottom line is that long-term daily cannabis users showed greater reward anticipation when shown cues for cannabis than they did for ... [drum roll please] their preferred fruit. I kid you not.

There is no mention in the study of the relative reward/efficacy of cannabis compared with a piece of fruit. Would anyone seek relief after a physically or mentally arduous day with say, a relaxing apple? Perhaps if they had asked non-users to imagine a relaxing massage or a hot bath and a glass of wine they might have derived useful data.

Such obvious flaws will not stop the "reefer madness" crowd touting this study as proof of "marijuana addiction" though.

Yes, and B4zz4 posting even trivial things
sad ........ well begun strong decline, death

Claims that cannabis alters your DNA are "trivial" ?  My bad, I thought readers might like to be aware of current claims.  After all, "reefer madness" has only maintained cannabis prohibition for seven decades Wink

Sometimes it appears supporters believe the fight is over, full legalization is inevitable and that medical cannabis production is a risk-free enterprise.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

You need to be aware that well-financed groups are trying to undo progress already made and reintroduce prohibition in states now legal.  The Feds are uncooperative, to say the least.  Today's example: U.S. Government Bans Cannabis Farmers From Using Federal Water Supply.  That's not new, just a timely reminder of how much remains to be done.

And the responses finally begin to appear:

Quote
'Cannabis Damages DNA' Claim Debunked By Leading Researcher Ethan Russo

Critics are calling "reefer madness" on a new study from Australia claiming smoking pot will give your kids cancer.

Cannabis has been shown in cell, animal and limited human trials to prevent, halt or kill cancer, researchers note. Australia is getting world-famous for their reefer-madness research, this time for equating pot to the notorious birth defect-causing chemical thalidomide.

Just ha-ha-ha-having a laugh at this one. What cannabis does to ewe:

Quote
Stoned sheep go on 'psychotic rampage' after eating cannabis plants dumped in quiet Welsh village

Stoned sheep have allegedly gone on a 'psychotic rampage' and are causing havoc after eating cannabis plants which were dumped in a quiet village.

The remains of an illegal cannabis factory were fly-tipped in the quiet village of Rhydypandy in the Swansea valley in South Wales, and worried locals fear the sheep have been munching the herbs after they exhibited some very odd behaviour.

County councillor Ioan Richard said the sheep have been 'roaming the village' causing havoc and claims they have even been breaking into homes and getting killed by cars while in a daze.

See! Cannabis even makes criminals out of sheep with them "breaking into homes."

Quote
County councillor Ioan Richard said: 'I dread to think what will happen if they eat what could well be cannabis plants - we could have an outbreak out of psychotic sheep rampaging through the village.'

Anyone knowing anything about sheep knows they are more than happy to wander through open doors and that they are somewhat prone to ducking across the line of traffic and getting run over. Neither of these things are indicative of "psychosis" or "rampage".

Ah, the MSM... cannabis mutants and rampaging psychotic sheep in the same news cycle.

Looking for rampaging sheep? Try this. Wink

Eeek! Lookout! Run away! The cannabis mutations will get you!

Quote
Smoking cannabis ALTERS your DNA 'causing mutations that can trigger serious illness, including cancer'

Smoking cannabis can alter a person's DNA, causing mutations that expose a user to serious illnesses, experts have warned.

Furthermore, the heightened risk is not exclusive to the marijuana user, a study has shown.

The disease-causing mutations are passed on to their children, and several future generations, it has emerged.

Though the link between cannabis and severe illnesses, such as cancer, has previously been documented, how this occurs and the implications for future generations was not well understood. ...

Sorry. Couldn't resist a juicy piece of reefer madness like this.

Someone remind me, for how many thousands of years have people been using cannabis? Over all those generations a persistent mutation should have become really well represented throughout the population, constantly expanded and reinforced by newly recruited cannabis "mutants," all "afflicting" subsequent generations. Consider family sizes before birth control, that's a lot of carriers of "cannabis mutation" entering the gene pool, constantly reinforced by more "cannabis victims".

Why, it's a wonder the scientists managed to find an untainted control group! Oh, that's right, they didn't. They simply "analyzed" existing work and guessed at "likely causes".

Have you ever wondered about the number of mortalities required to account for all the risks claimed by "scientists" and their "studies"? How can there be any of us left, let alone an expanding population with an increasing life expectancy? In reality it comes from statistical cadaver recycling where even an elderly man dying basically of plain old age but technically of heart failure - and with metastasized cancers of no particular consequence - is variously attributed as: a tobacco fatality because he had smoked for a period in his life; a victim of Western diets because he ate red meat; a chemical victim due to his exposure to [fill_in_whatever_compound_current_researcher_has_grants_for]; a victim of particulate pollution because he had lived within 500 meters of a main road; and so on and on. It seems no one dies of old age any more but must be a victim of something.

On second thoughts, don't bother running. You and your descendants are certain to die eventually but I strongly doubt that cannabis consumption in any form will be the cause, especially since cannabis has been shown to ameliorate a significant number of conditions.

Here's a declaration right up front:

All costs, from grow sites right down to hosting the block explorer, are met out of the pockets of team members, mainly ∆9 and Heisenberg. Nobody gets paid working on or for the Yes We CANN movement or CANNdy development and no I don't receive any form of stipend for my time or posts here. I do occasionally receive donations from community members which, if you care to use the block explorer, you can see have never been traded or spent. The only outbound transactions have been a return of a young fellow's excited donation following assistance with his Android wallet and a transfer for wallet testing which shouldn't have occurred at all, I simply neglected to use manual coin control (bad Bazza).

Now, about slack channels, one was created 4/9/15 but no one seemed interested in using it. I don't even bother to run slack any more but if you are really keen I have the authority to invite you. PM me here if you want an invitation.

About the pictures thing, I don't recall whether that was on the IRC or not but ∆9 did explain how those posts drew a lot of unwanted attention, some of it Federal and at the time he declared no more would be forthcoming. I have asked for some discrete photos to be released and we'll see what happens in due course but they are certainly not a priority.

What is and always will be the team's priority is delivering medicinal cannabis with the minimum achievable environmental impact to patients at the lowest achievable cost. CannabisCoin has a role to play in achieving that goal but the coin is only one tool in the box. It can grow to be an extremely important tool but CannabisCoin is never going to be the object of the exercise. The focus has always been and always will be delivery of medicine to patients.

As I have pointed out before the first commercial-scale crop will be this northern hemisphere's summer crop with harvest, drying and curing to take place in the fall. As long as CannabisCoin is stable and functional at the time product is available in reliable volume that is all it need be. Had any of the indoor trials shown sufficient scalable economy to deliver product sooner then CannabisCoin's role would have gained that importance at that time. That's why it was released as early as it was, that and early promise of patients being able to cpu mine their meds.

As far as Capitascism's plaintive plea for "an honest answer" goes, I'm not aware of them ever asking a question at all nor of anyone receiving anything but honest answers. What's going on with this coin is the same as it has always been - CannabisCoin exists to facilitate streaming medicinal cannabis to patients. Proof of concept testing went well although it did trigger aggressive coin pumping and that is something we have been at pains to minimize since. Plans for wallet upgrades have been submitted but newly introduced features have not been fully team reviewed at this time. I do not know when that will be concluded.

Hopefully I'll be able to donate the CANN's I have to some real patients and see them smile, holding this coin for only that reason.

Give me an opportunity to get the highest return for my investment, as of now smile is missing for some real patients  Huh

What admirable sentiment maxraj. Cheesy

That of course is CannabisCoin's raison d'être and with almost the whole team composed of medical cannabis patients that focus will never be lost.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: May 10, 2016, 02:40:57 AM

My goodness...

I'm unavailable for a while and the children begin whining and throwing tantrums. This is exactly why the bulk of the team won't waste their time even checking in here.

Here's a couple of clues for the naifs thinking they were going to be gifted thousands of percent profit virtually overnight and with little to no cost or effort expended by themselves.

Take note when you are told that the first commercial-scale crop will be this northern hemisphere's summer outdoor grow, even when it's cleverly hidden in a post labelled "Information Bulletin".

Stop falling for key date hype - it comes from coin pumpers looking to take your money and team CannabisCoin will not cooperate, ever.

It is fairly obvious most of the grizzling comes from kids confusing the pump & dump crypto fantasy with real-world business and physical delivery, despite having been told repeatedly that this is a long-term project. It is possible they do not even realize long-term means over a period of years, not just the next TV ratings period. Get used to it. ∆9 is all in and has made a lifetime commitment. He and Heisenberg provide the major financial support for this enterprise and none of the funding comes from crypto at all.

Oh and just to expand on that final point, waiting in my mailbox when I returned was an ultimatum from someone apparently thinking themselves important, instructing me to "hold an event immediately" or they will sell their CannabisCoin. Whatever. Everyone is welcome along for the ride, just as they are welcome to get off the bus at any time and go in their own direction.

The investment with the highest rate of return is a smile. Share one with someone new today Cheesy

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: May 03, 2016, 01:10:22 AM

Slow down maxraj, you aren't under attack.

You stated "No one from the core team even bothered to answer you" (actually not true, 2bacco was quietly directed to CannabisCoin.net for the information but never mind) and so I explained why there was such a lukewarm response to the same post repeated several times.

Granted, more time than hoped has passed since the last information bulletin and I'll try to address that in the next couple of weeks.

Please bear in mind that I am the only fully retired member of the team, everyone else still has to earn their living and donates the time, effort and finance involved. They are all medicinal cannabis patients too so there is no chance of losing focus.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: April 29, 2016, 02:39:16 AM
...
You would have to write about buying bitcoin (bitstamp, bitcurex, btc-e) and then buying cann on Bittrex, as most volume is there http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/cannabiscoin/#markets
Mate it would be better off to write about and follow some other weed coins.
... No one from the core team even bothered to answer you...

Apparently you think it appropriate for an enterprise dedicated to streaming medicinal cannabis to patients to be associated with tobacco advocacy.

Let's just ponder that for a moment.

"Big Tobacco" has long been the "bad guy" of public health. Many legislators launched their careers on anti tobacco campaigns and there remain an extraordinary number of government and non-government groups and organizations dedicated to the elimination of tobacco consumption. These groups span the political spectrum from community groups to the United Nations.

Cannabis prohibitionists would dearly love to associate cannabis with Big Tobacco because they would then have a large and well organized cudgel with which to bludgeon the legalization movement. Moreover it would likely give them access to the massive anti tobacco funding stream.

Personally I do not favor nanny government at all. I believe fervently in freedom of personal choice and I believe in personal responsibility. That said I can not see any upside in assisting 2bacco in any way and have not done so since directing them to CannabisCoin.net.

So much for associating CannabisCoin with 2bacco Coin, what about what we see of 2bacco?

What I see is a site asking for (a few) thousands of US dollars with the stated aim of eliminating taxation on tobacco. Quite apart from the most dangerous place in the world being to get between a politician and a source of money, what could be achieved for this sum? Big Tobacco spends millions on lobbying and resisting tax increases on their products with only limited success so what does 2bacco expect to achieve with $3,000-$6,000?

The most charitable reading is that of a rather naive seed-seller.
