1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which altcoin would be next gamechanger? on: November 04, 2021, 04:58:34 PM
The coin I like is Alterdot

They are building the decentralized web using blockchain technology and IPFS(InterPlanetary File System - a peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol designed to preserve and grow humanity's knowledge by making the web upgradeable) is built for the people by the people.  POW mining that is CPU friend for decentralization.  Masternodes running at all times to support the network. Instasend by paying an additional transaction fee get priority processing.  Blockchain DNS that can point to any web address.   Browser Extension that will be the main facilatator for the Alterdot Web.  Open development allows community input and nothing is hidden.

They may also implement NFTs later on.

They are not in most people's radar so gaining coins for cpu mining is possible even with very old machines.  Also, the coin price is very low right now.

So the bounty campaign ended before it started?

Yo, what's up with BCRS?  Huh

Not sure.  I think they are more active on Discord than here.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PWR] POWERCOIN - Distributed Computing made easy [NOW TRADING] on: January 10, 2018, 12:39:05 AM

I tried this link but I received an unknown file type that was 418 bytes.
this is what the document says:
Quote
<?php
/**
 * Front to the WordPress application. This file doesn't do anything, but loads
 * wp-blog-header.php which does and tells WordPress to load the theme.
 *
 * @package WordPress
 */

/**
 * Tells WordPress to load the WordPress theme and output it.
 *
 * @var bool
 */
define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);

/** Loads the WordPress Environment and Template */
require( dirname( __FILE__ ) . '/wp-blog-header.php' );

Thank you.  Now I know it is nothing to be concerned about.

8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is gambling so addicting? on: December 29, 2017, 09:14:50 PM
I don't know why but I always get a feeling to gamble, after then losing my money, I quit for some time and then continue, but I know I will lose my btc Sad

Why is it so addictive?

Gambling addiction is linked to the brain's reward system.  When you win your brain releases endorphins which makes you feel good.  Your chasing this feel good feeling and probably not really thinking about the btc.
9  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is stocks.exchange a scam? on: December 28, 2017, 03:19:21 PM
They said please try again, with less coins, so I did - 500 coins this time, 2017-12-15 14:10:38. Same result. Withdrawal went to "Canceled by admin" this time.

I find that ridiculous. Even if 500 coins was small enough of a withdrawal that they could handle, you'd have to submit 125 withdrawals to get all of your coins out safely.

Also, I find it interesting - not calling anyone out, just mildly interesting - that krillan, someone with otherwise only a single post on the 11th, was so quick to respond to this thread 15 days later and reacted somewhat strongly against your questioning stocks.exchange's legitimacy. Again, though, it's possible and I'm not calling him a shill.

Wonder why they are having trouble with that.  I withdrew 1,400 ITNS coins a few weeks back.

Hey everyone. I just setup this account to ask if the stocks.exchange site is a scam.

I went on there about a month ago and bought what is currently worth about $1400 USD worth of ITNS (Intense Coin). Coinmarketcap.com lists stocks.exchange as the only exchange trading ITNS at the time of this writing.

I tried to withdraw it to my wallet for safe keeping, 4 or 5 times, interacting with their support through support trouble tickets, and they just kept telling me to withdraw a smaller amount.

I searched the forums here for anything stocks.exchange related, but could find nothing. I have a feeling they walked away with my 0.015 BTC and I never had any ITNS through them at all now.

Anyone else have any experiences with them? Should I chalk it up as a scam loss and make sure no one else gets scammed?

Thanks,
SypsG

I have not bought as much as you have but I have not had any problems with them so far.  After every purchase, I have been withdrawing my ITNS to my personal wallet for safekeeping.  So far, I have not seen any other issues.  Maybe you should try going to the ITNS Discord group chat and see if you can find other users who might have had the same problem.  The dev team is also pretty active on Discord and will likely try to figure what is going on.  They recently walked away from being listed on a second exchange due to people voicing their concerns on Discord.

You mentioned stocks.exchange recommended withdrawing lesser amounts.  Have you tried withdrawing from that exchange in increments?  For example, make 4 equal withdraws.  Transactions are a lot faster than Bitcoin and so you will not have to wait too long before you see the first deposit in your wallet.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gpu/CPU mining with same machine on: December 25, 2017, 08:01:23 PM
I am mining on some really old hardware and using the CPU as well as the video card to mine.  While the CPU has 8 threads I only utilize 6 threads.  if I intend to the use the computer then I use 4 threads.  When I try to use all the threads for my system then my system ends up getting locked up.  Other than that I do alright.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INTENSE COIN - Blockchain backed decentralized VPN - Hybrid PoW on: December 08, 2017, 07:34:54 PM
The exchange is ok, new exchanges, some places are not perfect, but trading is convenient.
on this exchange 123000 ITNS were stolen. The hackers picked up my password and bought their orders at an inflated price.
Theft continues, look at the price of buying and selling orders https://stocks.exchange/trade/XCPO/BTC/1W
If you had 2FA they'll never hack you, so can blame only yourself for.

I am not sure about 2FA being unhackable.  I have heard about hackers using their social engineering skills to get cell phone companies to send them people's sim cards.  This then gives them the access to 2FA without having to hack it.

As far as passwords go I use a secure online password generator to come up with random passwords.  I have so many passwords I can't remember them but I write them down on a small notebook so that I do not loose access to accounts because I can't remember them all.

2FA bind to a device, not to a SIM card. You can take any smartphone on Android versions (even without a SIM card) and set up a 2FA on it.

Thank you.  That is nice to know.

Also, the build date is : %Format:%cD
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining farms for heating houses? on: November 11, 2017, 08:10:26 AM
I am doing this as we speak.  I had the house well insulated and so now instead of using 3 bitcoin miners to keep the uninsulated house warm, I now only use one.  The lowest I think was about 46 F but even though I hate spending money on the electricity bill.  It has not been too cold here but it makes me feel better that the energy being used is not being completely wasted.

There is a backup heater on standby just in case the temperature drops too low.  I guess I could set up a thermostat to turn additional miners on and off as needed but I do not think the mining pools would be too happy with that.

By the way, I am not earning too much since my miner is just an old S1 180 Gh/s unit but something is something.

Couldn't find anything negative or positive about them.  The other weird thing I found out beside their virtual rented office is their email address.  Their email address is bit.alliance@yahoo.com

Using Yahoo as your business email address does not build much confidence.

Pool is down.

My Hashrate
0.00 GH/s

Nevermind, looks like the pool just had a hiccup but is picking up my miners again.

I haven't had any issues with the deposits to my Coinbase wallet.
