3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MultiBit: Corrupted wallet file? on: June 02, 2012, 07:48:47 PM
Hi!

Thanks for the quick reply...

The thing is I'm not certain it's specifically a MultiBit bug... It happened after I lost my internet connexion during synchronisation with the network.

Plus you have to register at github to report an issue...

Like I said, the damage is not very serious. It's just that it would be good to know what to do to prevent this sort of thing from happening...

I did have a backup, but since it's two days old, it's only relevant to the wallets I didn't touch since...

Is it OK if I send you the log files in a PM here instead of github?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / MultiBit: Corrupted wallet file? on: June 02, 2012, 01:49:25 PM
Hi!

Something happened yesterday to one of my wallets... After freezing, MultiBit wouldn't quit, so i forced it to quit... It's like Crtl Alt Sup on windows I guess.

And then when I relaunching it, one of my wallet wouldn't open. MultiBit says "Error 1"...

The file is still there, but it's unusable.

It's not that bad, since that wallet was almost empty, but I'd like to know a way around this, in case it happens to a "real" wallet...

Did anyone of you guys encounter this Error 1 thing?  Undecided

@ EhVedadoOAnonimato, BadBear, kangasbros: Thanks guys, I'll examine all the info you've given me ASAP!  Cool

Hey Guys... So I'm looking into all this right now, and I have a few more questions... I think I'll start a dedicated thead...

Me too. Plus, I also do this...

I guess many people are running the bitcoin client through Tor, those don't show up.

... since I found out some people are trying to link your IP to all your transactions.

Actually, I really think that putting bitcoin behind Tor should be a "recommended practice" as using different addresses for each transaction, and that allowing the bitcoin protocol to exchange, recognize and publish hidden services should be a development of high priority.
People should not be exposing all their transaction history so easily...

I'm sorry, but how do you run a BTC client behind Tor? My Tor installation comes with a bundled browser, and from what I gather the only communications being scrambled are the ones the Tor browser makes... Am I wrong?

How would one (easily  Tongue) make MultiBit "speak" through Tor?

Oh sorry! Didn't read your previous post very well...

Thought blue was good!  Undecided

Are you sure foxyproxy is still activated ?

Looks like it is

I moved the virtual machine to another server, but it doesn't change anything (except best performances), and it's still working for me.
Plus, i don't know what is "http://www.website-unavailable.com/".
Me neither!  Grin
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Desktop clients - Quick comparison chart on: May 28, 2012, 01:58:28 PM
Armory and Electrum are Windows / Linux only AFAIK.

+1...

An OS row is needed IMHO...
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] A new proxy for Namecoin on: May 28, 2012, 01:47:27 PM
Hey!

Doesn't seem to be working today...

When I enter a .bit address, I'm redirected to "http://www.website-unavailable.com/Huh
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] A new proxy for Namecoin on: May 27, 2012, 08:10:48 PM
OK, so I installed FoxyProxy, and I'm on "dns.bit"... Does this mean I'm no longer on the "traditional" web?  Shocked
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] A new proxy for Namecoin on: May 26, 2012, 09:01:48 PM
Oops! I'm late!

But I promise I'll do it tomorrow! Been a bit busy, but things will be back to normal soon!

then I'll give it a try! Wink

Why not!
18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New RetroShare Bitcoin Forum on: May 24, 2012, 03:26:46 PM
Didn't even know RetroShare existed...

This thing looks veeeeery promising!  Shocked

To summarize : which part is blocking you and what would you like ? :p

Honestly? I don't even know how to answer your question... Embarrassed

Nothing is actually blocking me yet... I wouldn't know where to begin!

That's how 'untechnical' I am!  Grin

I get your point, when you say that easier stuff implies less possibilities, but eventually (even if it's in three or five years), I believe this will have to come down to icons and buttons...

That is if you guys want it to have a wide social/political impact, and I'm sure you do!

I accept the idea that before getting there, you first have to explore all the abstract aspects at it's core... It's just I'm not qualified to make pertinent critiques!

But I'll try the FireFox thingy tonight! Wink
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any trustable e-wallet services? on: May 24, 2012, 02:15:50 PM
I guess offline storage for the 'bulk' of your stuff, and online wallets for day-to-day operations would be a reasonable way of going about this...  Tongue

Yeah Bitcoin is somewhat unique in that you don't need access to the wallet in order to receive money.  So pretty easy to setup an online wallet (I would still recommend something like blockchain.info or strongcoin where the operator doesn't have the keys) for day to day stuff and then setup your offline wallet address in the addressbook and "sweep" excess funds there.

Logical!  Wink
