Why this coin uses equihash as PoW algorithm? Why doesn't it use others such as Lyra2, scrypt, SHA256, X11, etc? I am mainly interested in the technical reasons behind this choice. I know there are aspects of asic mining, but maybe there are more reasons...
I think, the main reason is just ASIC-resist, like Dagger (Ethereum): http://www.hashcash.org/papers/dagger.htmlhttps://z.cash/blog/why-equihash.html

The same settings as zcash-miner? (-stratum=stratum+tcp://zec.suprnova.cc:2142 -user=Weblogin.Worker -password=Worker password)

Hi, After several hours mining displays "Unauthorized worker". After rebooting cpu-miner its all OK. I have AMD FX, cpuminer-btver1 -a lyra2z -o stratum+tcp://xzc.suprnova.cc:5595 -u user.worker -p pass

In other news: Just last week we tripled the hashpower for every single one of our Zcash customers at no cost to the user! Today, we are glad to announce that we did it again and doubled the hashrate of our mining rigs! That means we now increased the hashpower already by a factor of 6 since our offer launched and are updating the prices respectively. Our team is working day and night to ramp up more capacity and expand our operation. We are doing everything we can, but given the current demand we can not guarantee to keep the sales open until the launch so we advise joining soon for those interested in a contract before the launch. If you have already purchased an account, you will see the upgrade soon if not already! If you'd like to buy a contract head over to https://www.genesis-mining.com/pricingThanks for your support! -- Your Genesis Mining Team Yea, Nice! But i am not sure, if purchase hashpower e.g. 6h/s ($280), or RX470 - 11h/s ($200): https://forum.z.cash/t/radeon-rx-hashrate/2453

I have faith though that if ETH ever fucks up again in the future which no doubt they will you'll see a huge spike in ETC when users/business flock.
Of course, ETH-fork solves nothing. If the wrong code (DAO), why repair computer (ETH)? I see no reason to invest in ETH-fork.

guys ,lol that was one of the most depressing places i have ever seen...around 20+ trolls lol ....i had nothing but sympathy for most there...lost clueless souls. lol. I asked a few people what is Ethereum ...they said its same as btc with smart contracts and etc is immutable. I asked about gas...only to be given a smile or confused look lol some didnt even know what a dapp is lol nothing new, all old chit chat, lots of talk off cam about what price to dump and should they dump before the hacker or will the hacker pump then they can dump lol either way no one i spoke too was in this for the long term. It was funny hearing people talk about me too lol They struggled to get the stream working...then just gave up, hilarious stuff, prob the highlight of the evening, lol bunch of nooobs. There wasnt even one thing that i didnt know from before going in...it was all stuff thats been discussed by many smarter people already. After this i cant wait to goto a real Devcon, one with real innovation and one that will teach me things that i never knew. So grateful that ETH has a vision and a great team to help make that vision possible. Hey Man, cool. Your incessant scream here, it looks like desperation.

The situation with DAO has absolutely nothing to do with ETH, and ETH has absolutely no business getting involved. ETH was not hacked. DAO implemented poorly constructed terms along with poorly written, tested and reviewed code https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/675Is it true? I'm not a coder, but after all what I've read about theDAO and it's hack it's not true. Example: Ethereum itself seems to be flawed according to the latest developments on the DAO Hack. Philip Daian, a researcher at Cornell University’s Initiative for Crytocurrencies & Contracts, just presented his latest findings on the hack, concluding:
"I would lay at least 50% of the blame for this exploit squarely at the feet of the design of the Solidity language. This may bolster the case for certain types of corrective action.
I refuse to lay the blame exclusively on a poorly coded contract when the contract, even if coded using best practices and the following language documentation exactly, would have remained vulnerable to attack."
In a highly technical publication detailing the exploits that the hacker may have used, Daian stated:
"[T]his was actually not a flaw or exploit in the DAO contract itself: technically the EVM was operating as intended, but Solidity was introducing security flaws into contracts that were not only missed by the community, but missed by the designers of the language themselves."
(...) https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/ethereum-solidity-flaw-dao/Somebody else (Daniel Krawisz) states: This problem is so serious that it cannot be treated as a bug in the DAO. The problem is with Solidity itself, which is the scripting language used in Ethereum. Update: The problem actually all the way down to the Ethereum virtual machine.
(...)
This means the same issue exists in Serpent, another Ethereum scripting language, and every other one they might come up with.http://nakamotoinstitute.org/mempool/ethereum-is-doomed/#selection-11.0-11.15 I have no clue if it's all correct or not. But theDAO proved one thing: Even Ethereum-Devs are obviously not able to develop a smart contract in a secure way. At least it seems as if there is no way to code more complex stuff without feeling uncertain. Under the line I personally don't have much faith in Ethereums future (or ETC's), because I don't believe it will ever be used for real business. I don't mean it that critical because my view is: Ethereum has a lot of value as scientific project, as something to find out possible ways but also how it can't be done. But for Ethereum the problem could be, that others will learn out of it and will do it better while Ethereum took too much steps into a direction that won't work. Safe to say is: There will be serious and professional competitors in future. And what is left for Ethereum? A cute twin, a bail-out, a blockchain that can't be trusted, a team that can't be trusted - neither regarding their abilities nor their priorities. Yea. But, i do not understand why Cryptopia Delisting ETH.

I have a question. What is the problem? DAO or Ethereum? What will solve the hard-fork? DAO only?

As stated earlier, this is the thread for Ethereum and the dev team.
Majority of Vitalik's team left Ethereum at block 1920000. Now they ride a new coin called Ethereum-Fork1. This thread is about the original Ethereum or as it is called now Ethereum-Classic and the ethereum classic dev team. Really? Some evidence that Vitalik left Ethereum?

i like how nvidia is raping this algo without being even optimized i imagine there is payed ccminer that do 2x at least now
Yea, This is another shit Nvidia algo. Dagger (Ethereum) is best and finally asic-resist.
