1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 06, 2014, 12:29:57 PM
Pure PoS coins are never going to be valued high since there's no actual money (invested in hardware) backing the price. Not to mention they are unfairly distributed, they benefit just early adopters who had the chance to mine them in the brief mining phase. Just look at PeerCoin for a PoS coin done right which allows mining besides staking. I predict the price is going to gracefully degrade to sub 0.002 levels in the comming days.

it's working people wooohooo!  Grin
I send 1 real XC to address XSQYYwgVVYoGyc23NCTcCvQRCNiidarU71 using:
Code:
walletpassphrase <my password> 60
sendfrommixer "1" XSQYYwgVVYoGyc23NCTcCvQRCNiidarU71 1.0
now try to find my fucking sender address  Grin

dev...
you are a saint  Cool

Too easy, takes 15 seconds if you know the pattern.

that is wrong.

Lets let lazylocaluser to judge whether this is wrong or not shall we?
He has even conveniently labelled his address as "1" but in this case it doesn't matter and I didn't use it as a hint because there's no need to. XC mixing implementation is 100% predictable.

Let's find where is mmGYnBPXoypuc7GGpSd5QSW29SgLB1Xa85

....

Oh mmGYnBPXoypuc7GGpSd5QSW29SgLB1Xa85 popup.

mmGYnBPXoypuc7GGpSd5QSW29SgLB1Xa85 has nothing.
mmGYnBPXoypuc7GGpSd5QSW29SgLB1Xa85 can send nothing.

Why search mmGYnBPXoypuc7GGpSd5QSW29SgLB1Xa85 in video ??

So all it takes is a handful of clicks to get to the originating address. That's neither sophisticated or anonymous at all according to the claims made by XC...

So after watching the video the current implementation is similar to FedoraCoin. You have  the central authority that you have to trust, where the coins get sent and mixed. The problem is that a rogue node can currently steal coins. Every coins gets funneled through it. Even launching the wallet you explicitly state the node's ip address. This is going to take months to decentralize...

It is already decentralized, the addnode is only for testnet connectivity, not for the anonymous feature.  There is no central authority.

Ah my bad, so the wallet is treated as a node that mixes coins? Okay, but then I can compile my own rogue wallet and discard any transactions that are meant to be mixed through it and just cherry pick what I want.

Is it just me or does the dev's responses do not sound technical at all. Seems like his escape goat reply is "this is only a test release"  Not sure if he can get it done.  This post will be deleted in 5,4,3,2....

it's you

There might be a reason for it:

There has been controversy lately regarding the true origins of XC. You can see clearly at this page after you login and press 'Show ratings'. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=249302 that the XC coin "developer", atcecure has paid loljosh 0.7 BTC.

atcsecure 0: -0 / +0(0) 2014-05-09 0.70000000 Very trustworthy and put in the extra effort as needed.. very fast service and highly recommended

Loljosh is a person who offers custom made alt-coins for BTC. You can see loljosh's thread where he offers his services at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=466908.0
Loljosh started offering a PoS and X11 custom made alt-coin on 9th of May: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=466908.msg6625004#msg6625004 which has the exact same features as XC.
9th may was also the very same day the X11Coin launched and the payment was made to Loljosh from atcecure. The date of the launch can be looked up in the original thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600706.0
To this moment the X11Coin "developer" is very vague about the transaction and hasn't even explained what was the payment for. We can only assume it was a payment for the creation of X11Coin since it's Loljosh expertise field. The evidence above is a strong indication that this is the case

Since we have developer's attention it would be nice to have it addressed since it hasn't been.

Who originally said this though? Your quote doesn't have an author.

Sorry, link didn't get included for some reason. I found it on reddit:
