GTFO with XRP!

Blocknet is definitely one to watch though.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Chainlink VS Blocknet - Comparing The Two on: November 26, 2019, 09:11:24 PM
Blocknet can already do what chainlink promises to do.

well, i sent my coins to the burn addressabout the middle of May and got nothing back so far  Sad
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BINANCE -HACKED on: May 08, 2019, 09:30:39 PM
Agreed, and it appears that the first decentralized SPV lite multiwallet will be released by a 3rd party to use with Block DX so that the full chains aren't needed to trade. That's going to be huge! I'm going to pick up some BLOCK to run a Service Node since all fees are distributed to nodes.

This will be a game changer for sure. Smiley

Decentralised exchanges are definitely the way to go and Blocknet is great project that deserves more attention.

This is great news! Been waiting for this for a while. Let's hope some developers get started on some dapps!  Grin
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Blocknet just created the internet of blockchain - game changer small cap! on: May 17, 2018, 09:35:20 AM
Blocknet has been flying under the radar for a long time and this is a huge milestone. Great project.

I added Blocknet to the DEX thread. Let me know if there are any edits I should make... please do so in the DEX thread so I am sure to see it. I don't follow this thread super closely.

I also had a suggestion as to how to make trading in the Blocknet exchange (and utilizing its tech for other uses) easiest: "It is also possible to make a multicoin SPV wallet so you don't have to download the blockchains, and you don't need to run several cryptocurrency's wallets separately."

Blocknet
- Status: Alpha
- Website: http://blocknet.co/
- BCT Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=829576.0
- Blocknet is not only a DEX, it is a peer-to-peer protocol between nodes that connects different blockchains. The DEX is its first application.
- Trades are done in a fully decentralized manner via autonomous atomic swaps
Strengths:
- No derivatives, multisignatures, or IOUs
- Direct trading via atomic swaps
Weaknesses:
- You must download the entire blockchain of each coin you want to trade, have the wallets running, and configure the RPC username/pass*
- Trading is not implemented yet, it is in alpha testing

* You will not have to download the entire blockchains once SPV nodes are made compatible. It is also possible to make a multicoin SPV wallet so you don't have to download the blockchains, and you don't need to run several cryptocurrency's wallets separately.

Where abouts is the DEX thread? Do you have a link?

Also the feature you have suggested is already in the pipeline Wink

If history repeats itself this scenario is quite likely. I remember when XC was abandoned for blocknet.

As much as I hate to comment on fud, i just wanted to post this comment from Dan posted YESTERDAY on the XC slack...

latest xc wallet is out - and the latest feature - verifiable document signing is almost finished

are there any addnodes or a direct blockchain download?

the wallet is syncing with 4kb/s and sometimes even stops syncing

Here is the majority of the blockchain. much quicker to download http://76.164.207.2/

Something I posted in WAVES topic earlier:

So there is no difference between Bitshares decentralised exchange from 2 years ago and Waves decentralised exchange other than the Waves one is prettier?

I suggest some of you take a look at Blocknet - they are building a decentralised exchange but not with an intermediary token. Instead it's through atomic swaps by the xbridge technology. It's directly peer to peer which will means lower cost to the users, less friction, faster and of course it's truly decentralised.

Blocknet has been around for 2 years and is launching the hardfork in 4-8 weeks. They have demonstrated the atomic swaps, it's been tested and the exchanges can be seen in the BTC/LTC blockchains (Charlie Litecoin dev tweeted about it). So this isn't imaginary tech.

That's just the beginning though. DAPPs are coming next:

- decentralised mixer (users can mix their BTC for ZCash in a completely decentralised way and master nodes collect service fees)
- margin trading
- microservice APIs

Blocknet is super cheap market cap, peanuts compared to Waves. Only on Bittrex atm.

Are you sure blocknet exchange will enable margin trading? If that`s true it`s simply hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

100% Trustless margin trading! It's planned, but not till a bit further down the line.

Partially clearly you are correct but regardless those who have bought Blocknet now and in the past believe it to have some future and are rooting for the project to succeed that we can certainly agree on.

As I have said I am just a noob and dont understand half of it lol but :

I like the idea of owning a node.
I like the idea of it being exclusive yet "accessible".
Say you have 20 guys ending up owning all the nodes there would be no real difference between an centralised exchange today and a decentralised in the future basically.

But as Synechist commented I believe this is an issue being taken into consideration.

As the price rises the price of a node will almost certainly go down. About a month ago the node price was going to be 10k but as the price rose it was decided to lower it to 5k. I think its at a very reasonable price right now if people want one, specially compared to a couple of weeks ago.

The important thing to think of for those who don't have a chance to get a node and are wondering why to invest in block is the fact that all fees are paid in block. that means every time someone uses the exchange, no matter what coins they trade, the fee will be bought from the market in block before it is paid out to nodes. this will put constant buy pressure on BLOCK.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains | XBridge | true cross-chain P2P on: May 05, 2017, 12:38:18 PM
Excuse me, but why in the living hell aren't people loading into Blocknet!?!?  Its beyond me!  Let me explain for those who don't know -

Blocknet are relentlessly building a decentralized exchange.  The ONLY truly decentralized exchange, where you will maintain FULL control over your funds at ALL times.  No third parties ever involved, no trust required.  This is NOT true for ANY other DEX project out there.

No govt agency will be able to shut it down and seize funds, and no shady exchange can run off with your money.  You won't even have to hand over any personal information to use it.  Fees will likely be much much lower than poloniex and the like, and trades will happen instantly.

I mean the whole thing will be an absolute game changer!  Project of the year!

The developers are super super smart, they know exactly what they're doing, and are fully committed. There are a bunch of other exciting spin offs from the tech they're developing - which is going to allow different blockchains be able inter-operate and interact together.  For now, they move toward the Blocknet DEX - with already working, proven, executed trades in the bag...

What's more, you can buy an exchange node for 5000 block - that's only about 5btc at these insane prices on Bittrex.  Exchange nodes administer trade fees, and for running the node you will receive a small commission of every trade that goes through you (just let that sink for a minute...)

Yes it's real, it has a tangible inherent value (unlike the other rubbish getting pumped out there).  The demand will be massive - every crypto-trader with half a brain cell will be using it (wouldn't you be!?).  Yet there it sits, waiting, looking for some love...

Yup, you're welcome, please thank me later Smiley

The problem is people will not believe it until they see it.

It's like anything you notice the pump as soon as it is fully operational. Which is strange because by then you missed the best buying opportunity.

The hold back here is that it has been in development for years. Investors are speculating there will be many months and opportunities to buy before actual release so are gaining from other pumps first.

However really since coblee and sys dev and DZ have actually seen it working there is even more reason to believe it is an amazing opportunity only not gaining first mover on it is the concern. Once it is out I think you will see a huge green candle if it is released in reasonable time frame.

I know its hard not to but don't worry too much about the timeframe.  Wink

Regarding a roadmap, here is our plan:

- publish an initial list of planned features
- allow people to vote on features (probably by directly funding each feature), in order for us to gauge the market's priorities
- put the features in the order of priority resulting from the votes (this can be readjusted as later votes come in - no need for a cutoff)
- add features as they come up

Sound good?
I plan to publish this in the next few days at the latest.

Sounds great! Smiley Cheers.

Cyprohunter, Please list the anti virus software that gives the results you talked about. We can see if we can replicate those issues/errors. Cheers Smiley

Its fine for me on both mac and pc

Also, make sure you download the wallet from here - http://builds.xcurrency.co/blocknet/Build/ - the wallet is compiled directly from the code in github automatically.

A few people have asked me why this wallet throws up so many virus/malware warnings?
I know these are probably false alarms but on virus total it throws more virus warnings than any other wallet i have seen.
Is there a way to fix these false flags? Some people will not put this on their machine they said.

Is there a new updated wallet over the one in the OP because a few people are having issues even running it? probably because their av is stopping it running.

Seeing same thing here. I know block is legit, but need to fix these small issues.

Take me to moonn!

The question has been asked in Slack, and the dev was unaware of this happening and has asked for more details. Can either of you give more details of the messages you are getting?

All they need to do is upload their windows wallet to the virustotal website and you will see all the flags

I have never seen a wallet on here get so many flags before and from the most well known virus maleware programs.

Most novice users will not be able to install this on their machines without adding exceptions to all their anti virus and malware progs.
this is quit a big issue.

Using that site, the wallet comes up with zero detections...

I'm in slack and apparently dev is travelling to UK and won't be available by Tuesday.

To be honest, I'm not too worried and I have a feeling that Block can take off from here any second.

ATCSecure is the lead dev and the one who earlier asked for more info on the virus/firewall messages. It would be good to get to the bottom of things like this sooner rather than later imo. Especially if it is stopping people installing the wallet.

Ive never heard of this happening before either, is this just with recent releases or has it happened with older ones too?

p.s, Synechist is the one traveling to the UK so he may not be around so much for a few days but he is more on the marketing side of things.

As far as I can tell this is the only coin that does actual trustless atomic trading between separate chains.

I read somewhere Dan did the first trade almost a year ago. Surprising it's taken this long to start getting recognition.

We weren't happy with the implementation.

We've effectively built this thing three times, and now the security approach is where we want it to be, and the architectural direction is clear (i.e. how to best function as infrastructure for the token ecosystem).

As for the risk that a new project may steal our thunder, I'm not concerned. We have a solid community, widespread awareness of our first-mover status, a growing user base of cryptocurrencies, and increasing developer interest. Who'd contribute to some random fork when they can contribute to the main branch?

That's the appeal of open source software, really.

Additionally, we're the ones who've pioneered the token ecosystem and the "inter-chain era" and have led the market by three years. It's not too likely that another team will have grasped the intricacies of supporting this vision and will be able to steer development in a strategic way.

But hey, one of the beauties of open source is that anyone is welcome to clone us. My feeling is that attempts of this nature will only lend further credibility to our work and boost our visibility.

Is there no way to obscure or encrypt part of the code and open source after a clear lead is established? I detest copy and pasters.
Many successful projects are only opening up all of their source after they have a few generations clear lead now.
Shame to work 3 years and someone presses copy and paste straight away?
There are  obfuscation tools so people can see the source and build from it but it makes it almost impossible to make sense of the code.

I kinda agree with this.

What is stopping someone with plenty of money stealing the code, making an amazing UI and releasing a user friendly decentralised exchange before us? I mean there would be a bit of outrage at first but people would still start using it anyway because of what it is.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains | XBridge | true cross-chain P2P on: April 03, 2017, 04:48:47 PM
Quick reply!  Its really great to see the devs responding and being open to ideas like this from the community.

I actually asked your question a couple of weeks ago too, regarding not having to download the blockchains to use the exchange. Apparently it is doable and will happen further down the line.  Smiley

To actually use the exchange without downloading blockchains will require integration to SPV clients on as many chains as available.

That's definitely a feature we need, and the sooner the better.

Would SPV integration be down to each coin to implement rather than blocknet?
