1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it proper for younger ones to gamble? on: May 25, 2024, 09:59:41 PM
I don't advise that you should gamble for anything sake, but if it's already a habit that you can't get away with it, peace stick to it until you fine a way/reason to either control it or quit. What's the point advising a child that doesn't even wanna listen nr change?  They wouldn't dare to hold themselves responsible for their habits. Mostly, they'd blame it on alcohol, cannabis and Meths .... Otherwise, they could just stick to doing drugs without being extravagant.

Because nowadays the younger ones take gambling more seriously then school. Yesterday i got back home early so I decided to step out and go to a betting shop to catch some fun while gambling, I saw two teenagers gambling with their school uniforms on them.
This looks like a  fictional story to me... There's no betting shop that would allow students with uniforms to gamble. It's even unlawful to allow teenagers into your casino outlet as an offense of such would attract apprehension by the state law enforcement agencies.

Edit:Let's all be mindful of what we share online... It can either be be for or against a particular locality or country...
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What strategies do you adopt that can help to make millions in sport betting on: May 25, 2024, 09:57:52 PM
After going through the thread below titled "Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting?"
I think it's possible using some sporting strategies. I wish to know which strategy have you been using to win big as a gambler.
I don't believe this, but I can respect and follow any speculations to achieving it.. The problem is, if i can't find any possibilities of a win in the process, I'm done with it!

There are several strategies to how you can achieve a win and be successful... The problem is how you can trace it at the right time
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Religion. Beliefs or Choices? on: May 25, 2024, 09:53:17 PM
There are some religions that have strict views on gambling, some considering it morally wrong. However, people still gamble for various reasons.

Have you ever faced any conflicts between your religious beliefs versus gambling? How it happen and how did you handle it?
How do different religions view gambling? What could be the reasons behind it?
it's high time we knew that a man is entitled to what he believes... It could either MAKE you or BREAK you. I see religion as a dissociation aside from the faith - Christianity, Buddhism etc ... These rules were simply created by people like you and me.. do you wanna doubt the fact?  Why's every religion's faith with a doctrine? If we've got one God for everyone, why's everything different?

I try as much as possible to not get influenced by whatever my religion says.. I have personal decisions I make and, it could be against my beliefs but, that could be a thing for others. If I'm a gambler, I'd better stick to it than listen to whatever anyone would say.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When you are confident with your picks, do you win most of the time? on: May 25, 2024, 09:42:20 PM
I tried an experiment by just recording my picks and then betting the opposite of my analysis. Surprisingly, this resulted in profitable betting.
it's actually a good strategy - depending on the games you selected, and also, for which team/division your picks were based on... Assuming you selected some games from the Scottish premiership and your options were home/away to win depending on their advantage and positions on the table; say, the smallest points was 1.79 against 12 odds, how do you reverse your analysis for a possible win? Wagering on 12 odds against 1.79? Where's the win possibility?

Quote
So how about you? Have you ever thought of this idea when your picks aren't hitting? I mean, if we keep following how we think and feel with our picks and it doesn't translate to profit, there's no reason to continue following the same strategy.
You don't really have to do much of an analysis to win... What you experienced was luck and it doesn't really mean it'd happen all the time.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can soccer players collaborate with gamblers to help them win there bet? on: May 24, 2024, 09:58:28 PM
Lucas paqueta just got charged by the FA for allegedly bridging betting rules. According to report, it's believed that he intentionally took yellow cards in some key matches just so some gamblers can profit from there betting.
Do i call this some fake news that has been escalated with the purpose of earning streams and views? Or do I believe it?

It's never happened in the history of premier League that most matches are being set to either win or lose... That'd mean obviously, that the whole passion that reflects in people's faces and minds would be for something that could easily be manipulated, even without their consent.
For the ones I'm sure of, all the games in the lower championships and divisions from different countries are fixed! How do y'all think the idea of coupon bet came about? It's basically about how good you can be in retracing certain events and making evaluations for a possible draw×.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between gamblers and real Bitcoin investors? on: May 24, 2024, 09:36:43 PM
The way legends make money is not mainly from buying and reselling transactions, but from "waiting".
Okay... Hold on a second - what do you mean "waiting"? Like running weekly/extension trades? Or HODLing Bitcoin? If it's the former, it'd require a whole lot of skills and experiences and huge capital base to set up a weekly trade that'll run on losses for as long as 3 to 4 days, before ushering in the profits. You also gotta be skilful with your stoploss and take profit option.

For the later, the description on a type of person that works 8 hours a day would fit in for it ...as it doesn't require any extensive technical knowledge. All they gotta know is when, how and to what quantity they can buy at a time. Imagine buying and HODLing BTC at 19k, compared to today's rate? You'd earn 3-4 times of what you invested..

Quote
Restless and waiting are two opposite things, and are also what help us distinguish between a true Bitcoin investor and a gambler.
That I choose not to HODL doesn't make trading= gambling.
7  Other / Meta / Re: Wouldn't it be nice for edited posts to reflect on wherever it was quoted? on: May 24, 2024, 09:15:02 PM
By the present forum setting, my quote will still bear the previous comment meanwhile the person would have edited the post and might have even change his opinion on the subject.
it happens even more often than how it seems... People tend to rush into discussions cluelessly - maybe with a little idea about what the topic says and without reading the content, just to get to realize that they're a little bit off topic. In that case, occurrences like what you described becomes very frequent.
I seen people lay alot of complaints on the effects of edited posts recently. It could then be treated as major point of concern.

Quote
So wouldn't it be nice if whenever a post is edited, it reflects on wherever it was quoted? Can this be possible? If yes what impact will this have on discussions in this forum?
it's possible, but it'd be with great difficulty. Caches don't just clear up in a matter of seconds so it might still need a little more time to sync the adjustments. Writing a code and adding a domain for the redevelopment would cost money... It's up to Theymos to decide!
8  Other / Meta / Re: Some people that left this forum recently on: May 24, 2024, 08:27:56 PM
It is true that some left for various reasons, and some certainly because they were no longer motivated (financially) or they got scared after CM was banned. However, many remained and are still active regardless of the fact that the campaigns pay quite low pay rates compared to what they paid before. It would be interesting to see what would happen if some campaigns significantly raised pay rates - that is, if that would motivate some old members to return.
The campaigns don't need to augment their pay rates for whatever reasons that should be.... I mean, they could decide to not raise the payments. Secondly, you also don't have to force things on people; alot of posters with accounts in disguise in here are millionaires.. if they choose to not advertise any casino for offering a lower pay rate, that's exactly their own decision!

There is some truth in that, but it's still hard to replace some members who have been on the forum for a long time and they were extremely high-quality posters. In addition, new members used to definitely have a motive to one day become members of some of the best paid sig campaigns, today there is no such motive at all - although for some, even $100 a week is certainly a lot of money.
it's appalling that the actual genuiness and hunger for more adept knowledge on Bitcoin has been traded for a token; if truly, most people left the community for that reason, I'll be damned for not knowing how less interested people could be on things they earn nothing from.
Edit:
[...]and I would be surprised if anybody left because they went from earning $200 to $100 per week.
I'd be surprised too... Why must I be entitled to something that's not an entitlement?
9  Other / Meta / Re: This need to stop on: May 24, 2024, 08:03:04 PM
I have noticed an usual trends lately in the discussions board most especially Bitcoin discussion, gambling discussion etc, members rush to make a short comment just to reserve the first spot on the page, and after a while coming to edit it with the full text, this make no sense to me, and no signature campaign demands that you must be first to comment at least none that I know.
It's not an unusual trend as that has been happening for a long time before now... I mean, why would you wanna fight to reserve a spot on a newly posted thread? No matter if it takes you 30 minutes to finish a single post, you'll however have a spot on the first page.

[...] add a feature where you need to wait a specific time before you can edit your post I think a 15 minutes waiting time is good to avoid this practice.
I don't think that'll be a good idea since one could decide to merge a reply from another post, without allowing too much time. There could also be a time you wanna add an extra content on the previous post without showing as though it's been edited already.

I only edit my post on purpose; maybe if I have a little typo or I'd need to search for some function or link whatsoever!.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Friendship on: May 23, 2024, 09:59:33 PM
It's really frustrating to get ignored for just wanting to be real. mind you, this happens to some cases and, the outcome isn't always the same. I try as much as possible to scrutinize my cycle, avoiding any form of misunderstanding monetary-wise

I've seen good friends turning their backs on themselves for indulging in a business that later went unproductive; the later requested a refund but was told he's gonna get half since it wasn't the former's fault.
Thirdly, I don't wanna be a bum for tryna make you follow my path; if he sees that you could make a few bucks outta your journey and he deliberately retracts the idea, that's his cup of tea

Edit:
this story seems like it's made up because it's still quite strange to me.
Is that a problem right now? If that was some fictional story, it's fine... Did you learn anything from it?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you advise a friend in the same way? on: May 23, 2024, 09:58:40 PM
I told him to think about investing that money if he wants to keep the company growing, I told him about how MicroStrategy is doing so well using Bitcoin as a strong backbone of the company, I believe that even a small company can turn big if they use Bitcoin as their main investment.
That's one of the lamest advices I've heard in a while and I'd rather tell him to leave the money in the bank as the company may require an immediate asset to run an upgrade, develop new devices whatsoever...
Quote
Or am I wrong? I need to know if this advice is a good one or a bad one, I gave him this advice because we are very close and also because I will do the same thing if I am in his shoe, this is the best thing i can think of right now.
it depends on whatever extra thought you gave him, that we ain't aware of.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will always Survive on: May 23, 2024, 09:52:41 PM
A world war that occurs on a large scale could turn off electricity and internet sources, this could affect the journey of bitcoin, because if that happens people will not care about investment but rather how to survive in conditions of chaos.
If they'll ever be a third world war, the state of things would deteriorate and they'll be more casualties that own Bitcoins than survivors that own them... can you imagine a scene where an aircraft crashes and the people around are the first to get to the scene? They'll be left with no choice than to get away with anything they can lay their hands on... That'll just be the fate of most careless people.

Edit:
but in terms of trust, I think it is difficult to make bitcoin worth zero
It's actually impossible at this point already. Bitcoin has had undoubtedly a good start, and most importantly, a promising return.
I'd rather lose to the game for being too stubborn on when to buy, than not buy at all.
13  Other / Meta / Re: Why is this guy allowed to constantly break the rules? on: May 23, 2024, 09:34:42 PM

Particularly the unofficial rule number 13. In many cases he has been reported and posts merged but he has been warned that he should read the rules and follow them and he doesn't care:
That's the same guy that dragged you althrough the reputation board and claimed you're tryna interrupt his affairs on bringing in a new gambling system type of shit? I read through the argument and the wall of crap he wrote and, none of that made sense honestly.
How TF does he think he can possibly convince people on some money generator shit??
How about we all leave him negative feedback and a couple of trust flags and then wait for the inevitable threats to happen. That should get him a nice ban.
Maybe that's just what he deserves.. if the MODS are not responding, he could eat as much reg tags as he seems...
Quote
But for the most part it's probably not worth it because tomorrow we will have unlimitedmoneygenerator2 show up with the same thing again.
That doesn't mean a thing... If he shows up, we'll just have to repeat the same process... Simple!!
14  Economy / Reputation / Re: Charles-Tim reported posts on: May 23, 2024, 09:22:27 PM
Not that I made it a job, but I noticed that I just feel good to report the posts as I also like some red tags on my trust history which I think is good for this forum, to help against spam, and scam most especially.
I'm ashamed of realizing that I barely have a good report history. There's actually alot of ways to help moderate spam individually in here aside waiting on moderators themselves. One of the damn reasons why I stood up against a suggestion that moderators state their reasons for deleting or merging a user's post ...WTF??

Quote
I like it when moderators act fast to delete most especially the scam topics. I wonder that some people on this forum do not know that many scam threads are getting deleted.
I know too well that we have several shitty/scammy post deleted at the speed of light (several seconds after being posted)... Infact, that's a good motivation for me.
After 600 (not sure the number) reported posts you get that button "report history". I was happy when I got mine! I still have only 896 reported posts. Keep good work!
That's quite interesting! I'm hearing this for the first time and I feel awkward for not doing what y'all do.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do your parents invest in bitcoin ? on: May 22, 2024, 09:59:20 PM
He sits beside me whenever I'm on my PC at his place... Dammnn!! Man wasn't joking the last time he told me about an altcoin, claiming it could be part of Bitcoin..Lol

He has pretty much a good interest innit; funny enough, he told me about this set of people that claimed to be crypto enthusiasts. They came around and rented one of the most expensive floors on a government residential building in the neighborhood for an office. He paid, got some mentorship and a little bonus in worth of coins before he told me anything. WTF?
Right now, since he's biblophilic too - he's done a good level of reading (with my coaching) and doesn't seem to relinquish.

Edit: meanwhile, mum sees everything that requires money like a scam! Hahaha!!
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bullish period and advantage. on: May 22, 2024, 09:54:52 PM
The reality people who buy Bitcoin at the dip and sell during bullish is better than DCA and holding.
You shouldn't say it's better; one of the hardest thing to do is creating a follow-up or understanding market's decision to know exactly when it's most condusive to buy during the DIP.. not everyone has that spare time to analyze the trend. Eitherways, to begin trading, you'd need the skill, time and most importantly - a thick-skin to accept whatever loses you encounter.

Quote
Trader is better than investor, everyone can become investor, but not everyone can become trader.
That doesn't make trading more lucrative either. As harmless as it looks to be greedy, you could end up like a pulp for it.
Bottomline is - Do whatever profits you the most.
17  Other / Meta / Re: How would the forum feel/react if Casinos were banned like Mixers? on: May 22, 2024, 09:24:47 PM
it is pretty much a decent business because a lot of btc was hodl.

So when and how does theymos exit?

Maybe that should be a discussed topic for the future.
Theymos is beginning to tire. Do y'all think he's not been thinking of what the next 5 years would look like? Cus what in the world is stopping him from the completion of the new ecosystem? Resources? That can't be!
On the other hand, critics aren't kept grounded for whatever proposal they'd make against Bitcoin as long as the forum stays...why? Bitcointalk alone has made an impact that is believed to enlightened atleast 1/3 of bitcoiners (excluding cyber theft aged or retired persons)

There will be plenty of reactions
- a lot of members will suddenly go MIA
Can we accertain that most high ranking members today would stay? it's not about using some "pronouns"

I feel like we would have nothing left to discuss and, if it ever happens, I'll just focus on the WO thread for periodic updates and postings... The rest of the boards would have lesser activities.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum getting worse and worse? on: May 22, 2024, 07:46:47 PM
Yes there were lots of spam, lots of account farmers but now I see that was part of the fun. Catching all those scammers/farmers were creating lots of post activity&drama.

Now there are (probably) no cheaters, there is no drama, and almost zero activity.
okay... Lemme get this straight; do you really wanna go back to the old times, when the forum had alot of trash post that you'd have to sort your way through just to find an interesting topic? Huh? I thought we all saw the incessant spamming/bounty cheating as a threat that could recreate an unruly and discoordinated forum?.. if you're serious about this (and if it's not just your usual way of joshing on substantial issues) That would mean the fight against all odds to eliminate spam was a mere formality to you?.
Quote
Maybe theymos should remove the merit system  Tongue
And that would definitely bring back the traffic and a couple of good posters that left for some unknown reasons ?
Edit:
As I look at it now I realize forum members have earned millions in btc via signatures ending signatures is not the answer. Accepting the reality that BTC and all other coins are old news and less people are interested in the forum because it is repetitive.

A time will surely come, where companies would either pay smidgens & cents for signature promotions or assume BTT as not fit enough to provide the desired traffic.
TIME!!
It's a major determinant for everything under the sun.
19  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum getting worse and worse? on: May 21, 2024, 09:54:18 PM
Can't say I've noticed any degradation. Then again, as a miner I mainly hang out in the BTC mining area and could care less about the alts areas nor 'privacy' issues related to holding/using BTC so mixers have always been a non-starter for me.
NotFuzz, sorry to sound a little bit stupid but -- do you really wanna make your own analysis on how we could basically improve (ofcourse, this is about creating pathways for improvement) based off of your daily routine? I'm one a hundred percent certain that atleast 89% of users in here aren't miners, which doesn't correlate with that fact that privacy orientation doesn't bother you at all. It could definitely be a fair plan for you as a miner.

Quote
Don't care about the online casinos and ads for them did not bother me. If some long standing members where here mainly just for the signature campaigns, oh well. Can't say I miss them leaving
Signature campaigns were introduced way back 2014 right? Lemme get this straight: how populated was the forum compared to the recent times? Has there been very much differences between the early days and the new-era?

Quote
Ranking up/Merit: This started as a technical forum - not a social media circle jerk like Twitter et al. I think at its core it should remain a technical forum
There's never a time that these hasn't been an issue... I think we gotta let it out!
20  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum getting worse and worse? on: May 21, 2024, 08:42:56 PM
I don't want to correlate this forum's comedown with the mixer ban, even though I've thought of it and it's likely one major factor, but what's the current picture of Bitcointalk according to you? To me, it's declining in genuine interest.
That's exactly what it is -- you don't wanna lookpast every single rationale, do you?. It could look to you like there are some other factors behind the deterioration but, practically, it's nothing more than what we've already known.
Meanwhile, we've got testimonies from people of the old times and, they're all dismayed by the new-era forum and its atrophy. Sometimes, I'm almost left with nothing to read - leaving me an option to either struck my wooly hair and cogitate or log off for the day!

We're only left with the thought that things would either get better or worse, just like you said... For "it's better to allow an ignorant man to roam the community selflessly forever, than incentivize him limitedly"
Quote
Now, to that, add that we've lost valuable members, some of which were intellectually influential, and you have an Internet board filled with mostly crap. What's the problem?

It's a major determinant for everything under the sun.
