1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: September 25, 2014, 10:35:05 PM
I've added an 'Assets Board' to the Official forum so people have a place to list and discuss new assets. https://forum.qora.org/index.php?board=30

Enjoy,

market a forum which gets about 5 posts a day? Hmm maybe not. very few specialised forums do well outside BTT, most are ghost towns. Too much copying NXT I think.

It has to start somewhere. The more people start using the Official forum, the more people will use it. It's a catch 22, I know, but having a hub of our own will be beneficial in the long term. Now is the time to start building it up. Nobody needs to abandon this thread, it is an important resource, but Qora will never be anything more than "just another altcoin" until we start building a community and making resources that can stand apart from BTT.

I must agree with rabbiter, that lets channel our energy on to this thread and get it alive and kicking...then in a few months time things will naturally transition on to the qora forum. Curious what Qora-the dev thinks of this idea?

This doesn't have to be one or the other. It can be both.

I have already said why this coin lacks support. Those who took leadership if you follow their posts are more interested in a various bunch of coins. Some set up road maps and have since not been seen. Go follow Dzarmuch he is on all the other coins rallying them he can't be trusted to do anything here. He is typical, more active on NXT and Node threads than here.

Where's the road map link? let's get moving again.

+100

Yes lets get this ball rolling. We should plan for a marketing push in time for the asset exchange launch. Both on the forum and offline!

Got any specific ideas?

Adding to your idea,

i) LEts bring all the development discussion/bug hunting on to this thread here, so new comers know how much work is being put into this coin. This is thread is the best marketing tool we have right now. Lets showoff all the great work thats going on through this thread. Right now for a new comer, the thread doesnt give a sense of amount of work thats going on in the coin. Lets fix that first.

ii) Then around the time that AE is about to launch, lets start threads everyday here on bitcointalk that discuss and showcase the asset exchange. Lets also collect a list of assets that people want to create on the Qora asset exchange during launch. Lets all think of one innovative asset that we can create on Qora...dont just think of stock...remember we can assetize anything!  Grin

We have our own forum as well. It would be nice if people started using it and marketing that. It's difficult to find new threads on BTT, it's also difficult for newbies to go through 420+ pages of info to catch up. If you have a project, I'd suggest taking the discussion to the Official forum and start building the community there.

Been out of the loop for a few days traveling, but it's great to see the excitement building for Qora!! Incuding a dividend payment feature for the AE right out of the box wiill be a huge bonus. Excited to see it.  I would encourage anyone with questions or suggestions to tune into the chat, as it's clear that Qora is very receptive to suggestions and comments. I don't now of to many other coins where you can have such direct access to a core develper.

hi
someone explained to me why in my wallet balance is lower than the confirmed balance?
thanks

I don't know why this happens, but it occasionally happens to me as well. Do not fear! Your coins are still there. If you delete your data and wallet files, restore from seed, it generally fixes the issues. Hopefully the bug gets ironed out soon.

cheers,

Any one know why the first working decentralized voting system is not listed as an advantage of Qora?

Don't know. You should be able to add it if you want. I know there are some editing wars happening on that page, so we need to be vigilant about keeping the Qora section up to date!

bittrex should list qora.

Ask them. See what happens.

Any update on this coin? I bought in just for the heck of it and havn't been following since. What is happening. Price looks low.

I just cant see it going any lower. The buy side is starting to build up now. I think AE will be a stimulus to push the price upward. Its criminally under valued imo.

Agreed, I wasn't going to buy anymore, but it's impossible not to at the moment.  Do you ever visit the chat? Or the Official Forum? You're opinions would definitely liven things up Smiley

Ask not what qora can do for you, but what you can do for qora

Nicely stated renat0!

If the source can be shown to be new, the price would skyrocket. Why are you trying to deflect attention from this.

It is YOU nobody is paying attention to...   Roll Eyes

The ever useful posts of Smaragda. You forgot the kiss at the end.

Anyone else want to decompile the current source, just to confirm if it is still obfuscated? You never know.

Daedelus,

I did this on a lark yesterday. Looks like everything decompiles and is readily viewable. I believe even Jean Luc has done this and stated that it was not a NXT clone. I'm not a programmer so I'll just take his word for it, but it does look like you can decompile it and see for yourself.

I'm trying to keep my opinions to myself on the source discussion (for now, anyway) but if you've written any application in Java or .Net, then your source is "open".  If qora disappeared, I imagine the binaries would be easy-enough to decompile and cleaned up for sharing on Github.

Heck, I could do it and I'm not even a java dev.

shhh! Don't tell Kora!  Wink

Lol... Sad

Your comment peaked my interest. I downloaded some software and decompiled Qora. It's very easy to do, but I'm not really a programmer so what I'm looking at is gibberish to me. Point being, anyone who had the expertise could go through and easily compare it to other coins, or determine if developing projects for Qora is of interest to them. So being "closed source" should not be a detriment to bringing in developers.

NXT member already decompile and say it's old NXT code but people don't want truth. Qora plan like many scam is to sell off his many coins of IPO. But no one buy so he can't sell.

If that were true, this would not be a 400 page thread. It would have died a long time ago. Where is smaragda to ignore this guy for all of us Smiley

Qora makes himself available in the chat everyday. I'd recommend to anyone who has questions, to simply log into the chat and ask them yourself.

Back on topic, this thread closing incident has got me thinking we only have one single secretive developer and no source code.
I think we could have a vote with 3 options:
I) Source must remain closed for now
II) Source must be open to a few selected trusted users
III) Source must be completely open

DZ, see option three. I'm simply stating that I am opposed to this option Smiley I'm also generally against the community trying to force Qora's hand.

As a side note, if you are tired of this debate and you're truly interested in helping to develop Qora, please check out the Official Qora Forum here: forum.qora.org. Nobody cares if you can't code, I can't either, but we need motivated people to help with marketing and other side projects. Anyone who is willing to put in the time and put themselves out there for this coin are welcome.
