1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: April 20, 2022, 09:52:54 PM
Hi guys, can you tell me if I can use cgminer with ubuntu 21.10 version on raspberry PI 4B or should I use 20.04 LTS version?

My experience was always to use the x.04 LTS version.  The x.10 always seem to have problems.

Good, thank you very much.

Which do you recommend for better performance and compatibility with cgminer? If something changes, of course.

If anyone is interested asicpuppy has a couple of GekkoScience USB 7 port hubs in stock.  I ordered one and it will be delivered tomorrow as I emailed him checking on the status and he let me know it had shipped.  He also mentioned that he had a couple in stock and will update his website tonight.  I do not know how many he has.

Please, can you send me the email from Asicpuppy?

Thanks.

Please, can someone give the contact of ASICPuppy? Through the website I can't find the email to contact, the error page.

On the forum I read people commenting on ASICPuppy, would you be able to contact them?

Thanks.

Good afternoon, I'm from Russia, tell me if the speed of the Internet is important in bitcoin solo mining? I want to put my s9 to work in solo.skpool but I don't know if my geolocation is important and what the ping will be and if it matters in solving the solo block.

And I also ask you to help me in setting up my ASIC for the pool, send a screenshot of how a properly configured ASIC should look like.

Thanks in advance for your reply. Roll Eyes

Refer to page 1 of this forum.

Sorry for the intrusion, but I would also like to know if internet speed and location influence being able to mine a block.
Would the answer be no according to this comment? Is that because we are mining in the solo pool?

"[Mining at solo.ckpool.org avoids the overheads of running a full bitcoin node that requires both great storage and bandwidth for optimal performance.]"

If I stay in Brazil I can found a block also?

Thanks.

Believe me, when I have something to report it'll be here first.

Don't have any predictions when GekkoScience new compac F and usb hubs will be available for sale?

I'm also looking forward to it.

Okay this is very good, I thought it might be a lack of raw material to manufacture microchips or something.

Any idea when it will be up for sale again? I know I have to wait as the colleague said, but usually companies have the forecast to manufacture more.

Thanks.

Ok thank you for information, I already subscribed to the maillist.
Do you know why the product is out of stock? Was there any specific reason?
Because all the stock was bought by customers.. Wink

Searching here on the Forum I found 3 stores that sell these usbminers, they are:

asicpuppy
bitcoin merch
419mining.com

Are they trustworthy? Do you have another place to recommend?

Thanks.

You just need to wait, sign up on the mailing list at the official distributor sites listed in the first post. Or wait till there are announcements here.

419mining.com has a waitlist you can sign up for in the US

Hi @sidehack,

Would you help me? Where can I find the GekkoScience Compac F 200 bis 400 GH/s to buy in the US? The sites I find are all sold out.
Do you have any plans to have it again?

EDIT: Kano's setup instructions can be found HERE: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5355470.60

Hey guys.

So some of you already noticed because of reseller presale announcements, but we're dropping a new stick built around the S17 BM1397 chip.

We call it the Compac F. It is red. Hot-rod red.

It is also made for overclocking. Hot-rod overclocking.

The two photos above were taken from the same test. I haven't stressed my tester sticks past 3 Amps from the USB bus, but if you are able to keep everything cool, in theory, the hardware should be good for more like 500GH. Which is a little absurd. Kano is working on the driver for this guy, and we agreed to cap the speed to 800MHz (538GH theoretical) for safety and sanity's sake. Because of a new IC package design by Bitmain, the chips cool more efficiently, which when coupled with our proven robust Compac power systems makes this stick quite a machine.

This isn't going to be marketed as a baseline miner like the Compac, 2Pac, NewPac. It's physically compatible with our previous USB sticks and built off the same proven platform, but this one is a limited release with only one planned batch. If enough people want it, we may make more.

Resellers are all the usual suspects. 419Mining, ASICPuppy and BitcoinMerch are stocking in the US. Bitshopper.de is selling in Germany, and Eyeboot.com will have stock in Hong Kong. MineFarmBuy is also interested but are a broker, not a reseller, so you'll have to talk to them to figure it out.

Could you indicate a place for me to buy the equipment and which configuration would be ideal for the usb miner?

Hello everyone,
I would like to set up a setup with BTC miners as our friend has in the champion post.
Can anyone help me by indicating what I need to buy and where, because the sites I'm looking for are all sold out for usb mining products.
I would like to use GekkoScience NEWPAC usb with Raspberry Pi 4 with linux installed, would that be the best option to start?
Thanks if you can help me.

That is ok to try, here is the Thread where you find all information on how to setup your NEWPAC:

@Sledge0001 is a celebrity now. Even in local language newspaper, these miner images are there.

Hahaha. Lucky should be my name.

I really want to thank everyone on the forum for their support and guidance.
Particularly thank you to the following:

-CK <-- Your pool has changed my world and wallet balance forever.
Kano <-- Your software and guidance was invaluable.
SideHack <-- You evil genius your hardware although small was extremely effective.
Willi9974 <-- I used the funds won from one of your block parties to buy the hardware
419Mining.com <-- Seller of the Compac F's
AsicPuppy.com  <-- Seller of the Compac F's

I chose to share it was me for a few reasons:

1. Why shouldn't I share my success with others? I'd love to see you all hit.
2. Share the fact that you can still get lucky on the ever growing Bitcoin Blockchain even as a small or in my case micro solo miner. I am hopeful that this brings more small miners into scene.
3. Draw attention to smaller pools. It's a shame there are a few "big" pools out there that dominate most of the mining.
4. Yes I hit on a USB Miner Stick. I had 9 GekkoScience Compac F's (all overclocked) running cgminer on a HP Omen machine (That was also mining ETH at the time) hence the name "The Omen"
5. The 86TH that was seen on my account was mostly rented hashpower from Nicehash that had stopped prior to me finding the block. To be clear no rented hashpower was used to mine this block.
6. My entire USB Mining Farm consists of about 8.2TH - 9.3TH. The Omen had about 3.65TH of that at the time of finding the block.
7. I wanted to share the images of my setup and cgminer to show indisputable proof of what had transpired. (I too would be ultra skeptical if someone told me they hit like this on a USB stick miner).

Now because I hit big should I give up now? Nah... I am still mining with ALL my USB Stick miners as you can see here: https://solo.ckpool.org/users/3EoqjNmeaaVvVDCPbVXxQQRH6UFpDUqpPg

Again thank you all.
