4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth to join airdrop? on: June 01, 2024, 06:20:27 AM
Sometime back I was having not good intention of these Airdrops, but then I have few talks on social media with friends which were involved in this all and few were having huge amount of funds just because of these Airdrops, and now they are feeling lucky to do this all on right time and also having consistency into their work with they were also lucky to have projects which give them good return of their work on social media, but sadly I was never been luck to have this with now time is almost run-out but still few are taking good advantage of this all just because of this now I have feeling if someone having time surely he needs to jump into this for having better things.
I think patience is one of the things you are going to have to invest when participating in airdrops. Sometimes even successful airdrops don’t come in until a few months. It might seem frustrating but if we wait, there might be some pay off. So let us just wait and just participate in everything as long as we can.
Just like you've said, you have to join everything you see online this days to increase your chances of getting lucky with airdrops, and its clear that this will be time consuming no doubt, anyone doing this is already in a job, not side hustle anymore.

I used to be so into airdrops, until I slacked off due to less payment from the projects, its like one out of 10 new projects that pay airdrop hunters in the end, I just don't have that energy anymore, but I am happy that many people are making money out airdrops this days.

This will increase the adoption of crypto in general, as many people will keep on boarding crypto space.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The chink in the armor: traces of centralization on: May 29, 2024, 10:03:32 AM
I do not know what the solution will be of if there is one. The trends of closed and failed exchanges stealing people's money was not enough to scare others from centralized exchanges, cause they want to trust something. The exchanges can come up with "SAFU" and everyone relaxes again or were never alarmed at all.

How come I or some other random person can say "SAFU" and nobody listens, but some giant scheming exchange without your best interests in mind can say it and everyone believes them and calms down?

Ever thought of that?

The problem starts right from the beginning, it shows how people just jump into anything without full understanding of the innovation, Bitcoin want meant to be used far away from any platforms that are centralized.

If this was respected everyone will be trading Bitcoin via P2P only or decebtralized exchanges, lack of understanding the necessity of Decentralisation is why people carried Bitcoin into the hands of a centralized exchange, they are using it wrongly.

And many people don't even care.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The chink in the armor: traces of centralization on: May 29, 2024, 09:47:50 AM
  • There are similarly server dependent DEXes that suffer from the same flaw just because the developer of that DEX wanted to make money (through fees) not develop something decentralized to solve a problem!
I think this issue lies at the heart of the problem: Creating a truly decentralized system is hard, and doesn't pay. At least not in the way a system with traces of centralization does. And most users don't care that much about decentralization anyway, so the financial incentive of merely pretending to be decentralized is incredibly high.

As Z390 said, we got really lucky with satoshi's sacrifice. And I'm not sure we'll have a "second coming", now that it's clear that there's a lot of money to be made.

Bitcoin was financially worthless with Satoshi had created it, there was only the incentive of decentralization.

The only problem is, Satoshi had the heart to be anonymous, and i'm not sure we can find another character like that, since most of us who are posting here or elsewhere in Bitcoinsphere have already blown their covers.
Blown cover in what way? Or does this have anything to do with wallet addresses that have been shared on this forum already? I don't think that should blown anyone's cover still, I read that Nakamoto had an account on this forum and I became active after a while, so anyone can still do what nakamoto did and have an account on here then go into hiding if they believe in what they created.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / How will you advice a newbie about this in 2024? on: May 29, 2024, 06:45:51 AM
The year is 2024 and we still have many newbies flooding into crypto space as we speak, they have one goal in mind, to make money from crypto projects, we all can't change their minds to go for Bitcoin only, at least until they get better with doing their own research.

Coming from someone who is also into other projects different from Bitcoin, I have seen a lot of things unfold in this space.

For example, copied white paper is no longer a big red flag like before, I said this because even big projects do this today, and change some things in a whitepaper or let me use the word "finetune" to their own tastes.

I am willing to ask the audience though, so here it is,  is a copied white paper still a red flag for projects? If a newbie ask you this question what will be your answer to them?

Because this days, roughly all projects have same utilities, and also white papers, the only real difference I can see is the team members, and the money they are able to raise, is it a good advice to tell a newbie to count more on the team past experinece? Because saying this means that the team will atleast know how to do marketing and pump their token on their first bull market experience.

3. Risk what you can only afford to lose and have a profit-taking strategy in place, pumps won't go on forever, and no crypto projects keep pumping and pumping without some dump waiting to happen, so you are to secure some profits at least.
You posted this on bitcoin board, so I will assume that you are referring to bitcoin. If you can speculate and also be a patient person, you do not need to talk about bitcoin like you are talking about altcoins. Altcoins are most volatile, they may not get to all-time-high and the loss you will have with them may be permanent unlike bitcoin. Bitcoin has done this over and over again and got to all-time-high. You can see that as at now, only bitcoin has gotten to all-time-high.

Bitcoin or altcoin, you are the one who is making mistake as I never create this topic in the Bitcoin discussion board but Beginners and help, what are you talking about? I believe you made a mistake or something.

I have helped some people by guiding them about crypto investment since 2022 and this year is taking a toll on them, out of others, one has no real job and the other is stuck with some heavy responsibility at home, he has a job that can't be called a job, but I learned some lessons from the decisions they have made in the past, which I believe it's affecting the present as we speak.

1. There is something that is more important than investing or becoming a holder, that is a job secured, do not dare become a crypto investor or a holder if you can't feed yourself daily, in this condition you need the job more than anything, and this is what will determine the outcome of your long term holding.

2. Apart from Bitcoin, it is possible that most of the projects to hold won't do well in a few years, even the good projects with great utility can suffer in the hands of some obstacles, like lack of funds, unserious team, hacks, etc, unlike Bitcoin.

3. Risk what you can only afford to lose and have a profit-taking strategy in place, pumps won't go on forever, and no crypto projects keep pumping and pumping without some dump waiting to happen, so you are to secure some profits at least.

4. The chances that crypto will make you rich overnight are very slim, it's like gamblers who unexpectedly turn into millionaires without expecting it, but it is also possible to become a poor man if you don't know what you are doing, and seek knowledge always.

5. No matter how hard you try, some people will always be ahead of you, either close friends or family even in this crypto space, you shouldn't make harsh decisions just because your fellow brothers and sisters are doing better than you.

No one will exit this life alive anyway, so there is no point putting yourself In a bad situation all because you want to be a crypto holder, if you have to give it a try do it the rightful way, get a job, and gain the knowledge about crypto before risking your paid salary on any investment, I hope this help someone new on here.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Crypto Wallet on: May 27, 2024, 02:00:14 PM
You can use Coinomi or Mycelium I think you can swap USDT right on the app if I am not mistaken. For fees, I think they are also customizable. Just don't use untrusted wallets or else your funds will be gone. I've been using those apps I've mentioned since 2017 and it's working well though I have never tried swapping USDT but with other coins yeah it's good.

OP wants a Bitcoin wallet, not a multi-coin crypto wallet like Coinomi, this is a bad choice, also Coinomi is not an open-source crypto wallet, I have lost my digital asset using that wallet before and at first, I thought the fault was all mine until later I started seeing other people having the same problem.

Crypto wallets Like  Coinomi are a bad choice choice, if you really care about safety it is best to choose a open source non-custodial Crypto wallet, many people in this thread have already said the best ones, this doesn't count.

TRZEOR, Electrum, Blue wallet, Unstoppable, and every open source Bitcoin wallets out there are excellent choice, some called themselves open-source to mislead people, verify from people who have used such wallets before.

I verified that Electrum, Unstoppable, Trezor, Safepal, and Keystone are very reliable choices to store your Bitcoin.

I've stopped fooling myself and maybe you should too if you are a beginner.

We are all booked with this fantasy of a better Bitcoin, it's been how many years since Bitcoin launched now? 15 years already? And till today nothing does it better.

Developers of today are instead hooked with Layers in the crypto space, starting with layers 0, 1,2 and maybe we will see 3 and 4 in the future, but honestly, all these are useless, it is just a way to raise some money, and get themselves rich, no better Bitcoin is coming.

Once upon a time, some Devs were fighting to bring out a better Bitcoin, calling Nakamoto's invention a failed one, we have Bitcoin white, black, private, cash, and others but all of them failed, lies upon lies, but at least they tried and today they have stopped trying, because it is hopeless for them, Bitcoin is just  Bitcoin, it can't be beaten.

Now we have Bitcoin Layer 2s, promising to be better for Bitcoin in some ways, Defi stuff, I get it, but honestly, they do nothing, they are not needy, they exist now only to grab attention since runes and ordinals exist( another shitty rubbish) and the ones who will benefit most out of them are still the developers.

Do not take anything in the crypto space as first over Bitcoin, even if they shinning objects you must not put them first, they are short-term hype and FOMO drive, they will fade away in no time,  I am talking about the likes of BVM, BeFi labs, Satoshi this and that.

There is nothing more reliable as a form of safer investment than Bitcoin, accept this or get massively liquidated and dumped on after Bitcoin's massive run is done, Bitcoin will still be here after but not these money-hungry inventions.

Cryptocurrency is not the shortest way for someone to make a money there is other things that will give you money more than Bitcoin or more than any other cryptocurrency so it is advisable for we to notice that, cryptocurrency is a something that we can include as our site Hustle so that in future it will not affect us whoever that is into cryptocurrency I have one or two things that the manage in order to sustain life because life depending in crypto can neither disappoint you one day

The term shortest way you used is not right.

Ther is no short way of making money unless you plan to become a fraudster or a criminal, maybe pushing cocaine and others.

Crypto can be a side hustle for you but for many it's a full time job, ther are many developers in the crypto space that are running things 24/7 around the world, that's why we have wonderful projects like Ethereum , Cardano, Polkadot, and many others.

If they handled crypto as side hustle we wouldn't get this far, as for investors that I know, yes some are investing for short term while some are doing more than just investing, some are into trading and some are into mining Bitcoin, they don't have any other things they are doing than this.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be more visible in the forum as a beginner on: May 13, 2024, 09:52:04 AM
Many beginners have their reasons for coming on here, you don't need to tell them where they should be engaging in discussions, apart from beginners and help thread which should be the main thread to help newbies to understand more about the forum, other threads are left for them to make a choice.

Some are here to learn about mining alone, and once they register on the forum they will head into the Bitcoin mining section or the altcoin mining section, because that is what they care about, while some are here to learn more about trading, so to me it depends on what they want.

Also all boards on this forum is available fo everyone, both old and new members, if one is restricted to newbies it will be available as a warning to all newbies on top of the boards, as for newbies who are trying so hard to rank up, you aren't going to get a medal for this, take it easy, with time you will slowly grow, and slow growth is always better.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this true or some superstitious believe about gambling? on: May 13, 2024, 08:41:08 AM
I boarded a bus going home from the bank yesterday, then I remembered some football match had few minutes to kick-off then I brought out my phone from my pocket to place some bet, immediately I opened the bet app a man sitting next to me, tapped me and said that gambling is Satanic and I should desist from it, at first it sounded so funny and made me laugh but with a serious face he further said that it's manipulated by demons and that's why the house would always have the higher edge. He said he used to be a gambler but stopped when he discovered that and that there are demons helping the casino and sport betting owners to manipulate people into becoming addicted and getting more money from them, they give to selective people knowing fully well more people would lose and they'll gain back what they lost when more bettors lose the old man made it sound real but I don't believe that, i think he's lost too much in gambling before he stopped and is looking for anyway no matter what to discourage people from being like him or he's just being too superstitious. What's your opinion about this please?

I can't stop laughing 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

It is not demonic, but it looks like demonic to many people because they are not winning, if this same man starts winning he won't say that it is demonic, although it is true that the bible forbids gambling but it is not because of the demonic part, the bible advise against gambling because of the negative impact it has on humans, gambling can kill the spirit of will and hope left in human.

To me, gambling is simple math and psychology, a casino is betting on luck, 😃 it is something that doesn't happen every time, right? It is obvious that any casino will always have the upper hand, in a man's life he can get lucky only very few times in months or even in a year, and to many men, gambling is something you need to do every day.

You will surely lose more money and that is why casinos pocket gets fatter, it is common sense, this is one of the reasons why I don't gamble every day, I only gamble twice in a week and I use small amounts of money you can't control your luck, it comes when you won't be expecting it, spending less time with gambling is a good gambling strategy.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cautious of the Web on open source on: May 13, 2024, 06:26:50 AM
So I found out today that Bitget wasn't open source but searching online it usually shows that they open source
Same as trust wallet which was but no longer open source.
This is evidence that not everything read online is correct. Some sites even consider Ethereum as the most decentralized cryptocurrency.
I believe many had experienced cases similar to this before
Back to the topic
To find out if a platform is really open source
Search for them on github and check their repository or code to see if it's public or private
Public means is open sourced while private means closed.
Take notice of the date too
Some that were open source like Trustwallet might still leave their previous code online
Despite it already been changed.
There you can find yourself rather than relying on answers from the web.

DYOR is underrated.

I am confused.

Bitget and open-source? You can't know that because it is a centralised exchange, so their codes should be closed from the public.

The trust wallet case is different, it is a crypto wallet, the last time I did some research about Trust wallet I get to know that it is half open source and closed source, but to me if a code isn't completely open source then it is closed source.

So I accept that Trust wallet is closed source, but still a great crypto wallet for everyday or weekly spending.

As for ETH, if you come across any sites saying it is decentralised they are using the outdated data because once upon a time Ethereum looked like a decentralised project, even the maker said so but abandoning Proof of Work algorithm shows how centralized ETH has become.

Thanks for the tutor about how to know if a project is closed or open source, mind you, if you are going to do this you will still need qualified personnel to look into the code for you even if they are open source, just because  project codes are open source doesn't mean it is safe to use.

The main reason why it is necessary for a project to be open source is because experts can check them and make sure it is safe for the public use.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing on: May 13, 2024, 05:58:14 AM
Did you think that Trump will not win the primaries flawlessly? He would have won becuase he is very influential and he was the former United States president. The only obstacle he has in the presidential election is his rival Biden which is the present US president.

He will win this time around, because of miners in the US, they need any form of rescue to keep mining without the weight of 30% tax on their rewards, that is unfair for miners and the solution is voting biden out, also the crack down on crypto itself is too harsh for the people of United states, the numbers of investors from US is huge, this is why Trump decide to take the advantage, to me it is a good one.

The crypto community also commented that he may be looking for vote from crypto community. But be it that, I like that the adoption of bitcoin has proven itself with masses which are now bitcoin holders and the approval of bitcoin ETF in the United States.

Same here, it is a shame that some companies are leaving the US just to survive, and Biden gives no f about them, who does that? I know Trump is a freak in his own style, but if he is standing on the right side of crypto so am I, he is getting my vote.
