1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 14, 2016, 11:38:01 AM
400 held!!!!! That means I don't have to close my short...yet.

Actually watching a wall on the wall observer thread. Whoooda thunk it?

The catch is that the was was invisible. Heluva thing watching bulls batter it over and over without making a dent.

Apparently the market had the opposite reaction that I had to the miner letter. Optimists, I guess.
I don't think it means something until it means something.

It's not over yet.  Gosh, we just broke over $400 for a few minutes, and you are calling the end of $400, already?   Strange.

Maybe you are right, but it seems fairly likely that we will be going into the $400s, maybe approaching $420 within a few days.  I would place it at decent odds, rather than attempting to call it for sure one way or another at this point.

It briefly dipped back below 2700 CNY then went back up over it. The $400 and 2700 CNY prices are the crucial barriers today. There's been a retrace from ~2730 CNY and now it might pump back up again provided it can get past all the Chinese ask walls. Perhaps the second and third classic blocks will do the trick.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 14, 2016, 11:10:22 AM
Yes!
Bitcoinwisdom shows $400 on average!!
Welcome back!And please stay!!!

Why's it gone over $400 on stamp? Is there no real reason or has something happened to pump up the price? I can't find any giant events that are responsible for it like the US government has decided to ditch the dollar and switch to using nothing but bitcoin.
3  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: January 30, 2016, 01:45:12 AM
Problem is that Cryptsy "opened" some wallets, but did not reveal total balances of coins. They cant explain why there are no coins in DASH or DOGE wallet if they were not hacked - they probably converted them to BTC and spent to cover exchange expenses.Because all of these shady things, criminal investigation is necessary.

I investigated blockchain for DASH and DOGE and could not find firm evidences about hack

I found DOGE Cryptsy hot wallet address DU4wp32x4kvHHqnhPXJ1LnzsS48LedJvbi with 120 millions of DOGE still in it.

Did you notice these txs?

$2.16M in Dash (456,501 @0.0081 BTC) http://explorer.dash.org/tx/ba798890d98936115001f69333956b558a4856c162516cb3ab46a6455de7a1eb
$2.05M in DOGE (9.727B @0.00000036 BTC) https://bitinfocharts.com/dogecoin/address/DN27P1saQQ1fYesKP1LHT5MdSXBpgqka85

$2.16m dollars worth of doge? Jesus...

That's like gox claiming it had no coins left, then fining hundreds of thousands it had "forgotten" about in an old wallet. Vern must have run to China with millions of dollars worth of altcoins. He will probably stay there and live off the money he gets for them. I don't think we will ever get the valuable coins returned.

I just withdrew 1.1M Sprouts from cryptsy ... whew ...  -- now if I can only find some place to sell them ...

Is it not listed in other exchanges?

Yes SPROUTS coin is also listed at https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/ Exchange and also https://bittrex.com/  Cool

This thread's title should be changed then. [ANN] Now on CRYPTSY should be changed to either [ANN] Now on cryptopia, or [ANN] Now on bittrex. A thread's title advertising the fact a coin's on cryptsy is the worst publicity possible since cryptsy closed.

The OP was last active on October 15, 2015, and if he can't be contacted to request a change of thread title a new thread with a good title might attract more interest.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Please withdraw your coins from AllCoin.com before 2016-01-25 on: January 18, 2016, 12:39:48 PM
When swisscex closed it emailed private keys holding each customers funds to the email address each customer registered with. Swisscex did that automatically without forcing each customer to request it. Will you do the same for customers who miss your deadline that you gave very short notice of?

AllCoin.com went offline months ago and I had given up hope of getting my coins back. Very few customers will read this section, or notice this thread in time.

If you really are the owner of the allcoin exchange why didn't you post with the bitcointalk user name allcoin.com?

This is the allcoin.com bitcointalk profile, and that account announced the exchange's opening.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Mike Hearn, a British computer programmer...." on: January 18, 2016, 12:24:20 PM
Isn't the message from the Times in the genesis block an indication that Satoshi is probably British? What's the OP doing registering for a forum started by a British programmer that's all about the revolutionary software he wrote? Why did Satoshi use British spelling, not American spelling, because he's probably British?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Paul Vernon take a lie detector test? on: January 18, 2016, 12:10:33 PM
...
2) cryptsy's value is minus 2000btc atleast.. it holds no asset value as the Fincen registration is not with cryptsy.. its with project investors. and vern is not selling project investors. nor is project investors part of any bankruptcy plans... cryptsy is just a limp arm that can be amputated without pain to vern

Isn't Cryptsy just a trademark of Project Investors, not a separate legal entity? If so, PI would be directly responsible for any liabilities related to Cryptsy's operations.

Yes, it says so at the foot of Cryptsy's homepage. If Cryptsy goes bankrupt so does Project Investors Inc, but Paul Vernon will probably not be bothered because any debts will belong to Project Investors Inc, not him. He will be more concerned at being prosecuted for all the shady activities reported to have taken place at Cryptsy.

8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hard fork and price - beside the panic on: January 18, 2016, 10:48:54 AM
The exchanges will be the most important factor if a hard fork happens because they decide which fork you can sell coins from. There are small exchanges that might be struggling to sty afloat and take advantage by selling the same coins on both forks. The big exchanges could push people into accepting one fork if they support it. The whole thing will be a nightmare clusterfuck if it happens.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: price impact with bitcoin black Friday? on: November 21, 2015, 11:20:03 AM
Black Friday didn't have much of an impact last year. The price briefly went up a little afterwards, then crashed heavily down. Perhaps this year will be different. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Nevertheless I don't think it will affect the price heavily.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Washington Post: "You can now pay with Bitcoin practically anywhere" on: November 21, 2015, 10:59:50 AM
The headline is misleading. It's a bitcoin debit card only available for residents of some american states. The EU is discussing cracking down on virtual currencies and prepaid cards, so I doubt it's going to be offered to EU citizens. Besides, bitcoin debit cards are nothing new, a number of exchanges were already offering them but with high fees.

Quote

There is a catch: The card is currently only available to residents of Alabama, Arizona, California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. That's two-dozen regions in all.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese communist officials allegedly paying bribes in Bitcoin on: November 21, 2015, 10:31:12 AM
They mostly use cash for bribes. They found 200 million yuan ($33 million) in cash at an energy official called Wei Pengyuan’s home. They had to use 16 note counting machines to count it, and there were so many notes four of the machines broke under the load.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen to Bitcoin without Alternative coins ? on: June 30, 2015, 09:13:39 PM
To some extent, Bitcoin's price is effected by altcoins'. If altcoins disappear, Bitcoin's price would be higher. More money will stay at bitcoin! No shitcoins, no dump and pump, it will be good for the image of bitcoin!

The Paycoin IPO must have generated a fortune in Bitcoins for the dev, and those Bitcoins getting dumped were probably one of the reasons Bitcoin's price crashed on completion of the IPO. Alt coins with massive volume can seriously affect Bitcoin if there is a massive dump of them.
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 1200-1300 within a month. on: June 30, 2015, 09:07:30 PM
Thats a prediction that takes balls .. 1200 within a month!

I won't predict that, but with Greek situation, collapsing stock markets around the world, possible sudden moves by big players to wrong foot the little fish who've been shaken out. I guess it is in realms of possibility. Bitcoin is very scare when suddenly you want some and theres none for sale.

This is Bitcoin and it often does the unexpected. Few predicted the bear would be this bad, and now few would predict 1200 in a month. I've been conditioned by the bear market to expect the worst and missed some opportunities because I had stopped believing we could go up fast. I still don't believe it, but maybe he's right.

god damn I've missed this thread.

where's troll chop and trolfi?

I think Jeannie was banned but her sox have come out with the small correction/dip. Adam seems to be doing a reasonably good stoop-and-scoop job of deleting the lambsox droppings from this thread.

The esteemed professor must be lecturing or something.

Its about 5.40 pm in Brazil so he's probably driving back home after a hard days lecturing. Is it Brazil that has huge traffic jams or somewhere else? He'll likely also have his dinner before he starts posting here so give it a few more hours.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next level Bitcoin stress test -- June 29-30 13:00 GMT 2015 on: June 30, 2015, 07:57:45 PM
I was sent 0.18 BTC & 0.095 BTC today a few hours ago for my Da Dice sig & avatar campaigns that I am enrolled in.
Blockchain.info is showing both transactions as received but no confirmations.
My worry though is that neither transaction is showing up on my BTC core client, not even as unconfirmed transactions, just nothing, not received.
What's going on? I've never had anything like this in over 2 years.
Is this related to the stress test?

It's probably the result of the stress test that flooded the network with minuscule spam transactions. There are over 8000 unconfirmed transactions in a queue waiting to get in a block, and your payment is probably one of those waiting in line. Each block can only hold 1 MB and some miners refuse to fill blocks up fully so confirmed payments are being delayed until the miners can get through the backlog of unconfirmed transactions.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRMB / ABC on: June 30, 2015, 06:02:16 PM
I looked it up on coinmarketcap ans it's listed under assets so it can't be a proper coin. There only seems to be one market for it with $121,392 volume. I don't really trust coins or assets that are only on one exchange that I have never heard of at yuanbaohui.com. If it gets on a well known exchange I might investigate it.

17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will greece/europe pull a rabbit out of the hat? on: June 29, 2015, 11:37:21 PM
This is normal by the standards of EU negotiations. They usually overrun the deadline by at least a week and eventually do a very late deal that everyone said was impossible. They might still do a last minute fudge that allows both sides to claim victory.

19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: June 29, 2015, 09:38:23 PM
My take on the log trend is that the market will have to make an important decision within a few weeks. That will be either the catalyst for the (at least mid term) bull market or the failure and continuation of the bear market. If it can pull away from the down trend then a nice rally should follow. But it is still my opinion that lower lows will be had before ATH's.

I believe I posted a chart in chessnut's thread about the Big B wave idea... Ew technician's also use time as a guide line. In Bitcoin I have observed that it's far from perfect, but very often it is right on, and almost always is within a small margin of error. What I'm getting at is that the time spent all those months of down down down add up to about the expected time spent in the wave A of a 2nd wave of one larger degree.

Take a look here
A wave-II takes 61.8%-161.8% of the time taken in the Wave-I. Trading view tools are a little retarded sometimes. I assure you those numbers are correct. I would even accept a little error, but that bottom is still so far ahead of time. At best, we have completed a smaller wave 4 and could see ATH's before LL's, but I'll see if we can break $400 first.

I agree with luc that what we have seen is a completed zigzag from the top to 152, and that things are looking pretty bullish lately, but I disagree that what we have off the bottom is impulsive without ignoring waves that are there or assuming waves that aren't there. So I'm still for the large B wave if we see a decent rally here.

Last summer you were one of the few people here prepared to say you didn't think the bottom was in, and that we had to go below the previous ATH and stay there for some time. Some people called you a troll for it but you were right. Thanks for sharing your view of today's situation.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why LTC boom? on: June 29, 2015, 08:52:35 PM
It's no just ltc, its nvc, nmc, and ppc also. Basically, there's an obvious pump going on, and while people are uncertain will it remain high, they will keep buying,
but after a while, when price remains at these higher levels, and people get comfortable with that price enough to buy - that's exactly the moment they will cash out.
Judging by previous such acts, the price should remain high for quite some time, but i'm not buying into those sh*tcoins, no way.

cheers

There's a giant wall on Bitfinex stopping the price going down. If that wall gets removed the price could crash very quickly. Sooner or later it will probably be removed for profit taking dumps. I consider buying into Litecoin a high risk now the price has been pumped so high.
