All three g1 mini miners arrived today.

I will post some photos later today.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: September 06, 2022, 12:36:38 AM
ETC is whaling.
went up 25%

You still have a chance to move from ETH to ETC

I am now at

6.5gh eth and 3.5etc

I will move more to etc later tonight.

Maybe etc rallies bigly in price if we go to $200 for ETC it would be a nice move up.

3  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: September 02, 2022, 02:19:02 PM
“next 12 days years are critical.”  Roll Eyes

Right after the jump, we were again at 103% over and I thought no, this ain't going to happen but better keep my mouth shut as whenever I open the opposite happens, right now we're at 97.5% so maybe maybe...

As for the ETH thing, If I were to go full bear mode I would think of it like this, lot of power and buildings and contracts that suddenly instead of splitting $20m are going for a single one:

So of course a lot of them will simply have to stop and maybe switch to bitcoin mining, especially if they have all the above paid in advance so they could offer to host some miners. To be honest I know like 0.1% of the inner economy of GPU mining but even if I'm going to take the numbers from digiconomsit with a bag of salt there is a whole lot of power that was put into GPU mining
https://digiconomist.net/ethereum-energy-consumption/
But this does sound believable, the reward for them was

Quote
Reward last 24h
812.50+15.22 BTC ($16,842,355.17)
12,538+2093+18.94+515-1626 ETH ($22,132,604.31)

So that consumption makes sense as this is the upper limit to what miners can spend, which means a whole lot of should say opportunities(?) for ASIC owners who had to stop because of expensive energy to start again? Of course, the more I go with this the more complicated it gets and we have like zero clues about it, the only thing that might give us a hint would be increased activity on the use miners market (which I'm again out of touch with)

Speculations, speculation, but overall bearish on the outcome.

It is very difficult to understand this market.

A) how much idle gear is sitting waiting to turn on I do not know.
B) how many were mining eth as it made big bucks but they are ready to switch to btc.
C) look at the lower avalon prices for US miners shop.canaan.io

If you have a prepaid power contract and had eth eth eth do you buy a ton of cheap avalons?

https://shop.canaan.io/products/avalon-miner-a1166-pro-81t-3400w?VariantsId=10012

81 th for 1337 no import tax just shipping from Texas> We have 40kwatts of eth that would be 12 of these. Do I get 12 of these?

that would be 12 x 81 = 972 th which is  972 x .0832 = $81 usd a day. at the moment the eth+etc is clearing 200 a day

So do I chase and buy 16000 in avalons  takes 200 days to get back that 16000.

remember my power is paid off till dec 2023.

do I sit and take reduced income on the gpus. no cash outlay.

we are at a standstill as to our next moves.

what is in our favor is zero debt.
lots of extra cheap power.

I will wait til the sept 12-14 date and see what happens when 22-25 million of gross income is pulled out of the mix.

6  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: August 27, 2022, 03:05:36 PM
Yeah this is texas firing up as it has cooled greatly.

I see us doing 2 large jumps.

Lets pretend we go to a diff of 31 then a diff of 33

So on sept 15 or so we are at 33.

Lets argue that 1th earns 8 cents when this happens.

so a 100 th unit earns 8 usd

it burns 3.4 x 24 = 82 kwatts rounded up.

so  power cost

10 cent = 8.20 loser  10 cent miner a loser with best gear is not new we may be here sept 15
9 cent = 7.38 tiny profit maybe break even
8 cent = 6.56 $1.44 profit maybe $0.90 since gear breaks and cooling
  7 cent = 5.74 $2.26 profit maybe $1.80 "        "
  6 cent = 4.92 $3.08 profit maybe $2.60 "        "

All above are estimates they mean we are no where as bad as fall of 2018 when 6 cent power meant a very small profit.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 24, 2022, 03:44:48 PM
I also think that the drop in the ethereum hash rate was due to the fact that 5 GB asics switched to mining ethereum classic, because their memory does not allow mining ethereum.
We can delay the Ethereum mining end date a little, but what will it give us? Algorithmic miners will direct the hashrate of video cards to mining more profitable coins. I will lose profit, and nicehash miners will earn it

Well the delay simply means a crash and burn case which many of us believe in will be delayed.

If I clear 250 usd in all eth every day till Sept 13 then crash and burn down to 100 usd a day

if I clear 235 usd eth+etc mix every day till Sept 18 then crash and burn down to 100 usd a day

I make more money in the second case.

Will any of these moves really help no one is truly sure what the effect of killing 25 million  daily in eth mining income and turning it into 3-4 million daily eth interest income (that can not be cashed for at least 5 months) is going to do.

But I know that if we hit the bomb and are 600th eth + 400th etc

vs 900th eth + 40th etc

the shock wave is more intense.

My power deal is so good I would make some money in any case. but I spilt it 4 ways.

so 250/4 = 62.50 usd a day all profit at the moment for me.

My interest is  keep that 250/4

vs a drop to 100/4 or worse 60/4 daily.

Anything I can do mitagate the shock wave helps.

Yeah people do switching tech = terrible as it flattens all coin value. Worse tech ever invented.

UNLESS you are a true POW believer as switching is the best technique for power to wealth because it levels coin value.

I am very disappointed with the state of Bitcoin in the current market. Because last week its price was 24000 dollars but now it shows 21 thousand dollars. I want to know from you, is the price of Bitcoin likely to fall further?

How the fuck would I know the answer to that question?

I will flip a coin heads it goes up tails it goes down.

Damn it landed on its edge so I guess we go sideways.

Investigators who merit other Investigators research are giving Campaign Managers [...] an assurance

That's not what the merit system is for, and you have no options for enforcing this anyway.

If users want to confirm (or deny) what's been posted they can make a post.

why bother going through all the trouble meriting posts individually?

Because (IMO) that's what the merit system is for - to merit good posts, not just to give bags of merits to users.

For example if I want to read best recent posts and go here...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topreplies

... large merit dumps skew this picture. That's not to say I haven't done that, and you're right that it is really the merit sender's discretion how they choose to do it, but I need to point out that "going through all the trouble" does have value.

my main account posts more than this one and I occasionally give a lump out with it.

Like I just gave 27 to the pharmacist.

But if you look at my philipma1957 account I would think I mostly do 1 or 2 merits to  posts.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 22, 2022, 03:08:59 PM
just boosted the etc up to 2.08g

In a hundred hours next epoch will be here I will boost to etc 3gb
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 21, 2022, 07:43:48 PM
Not understand what u're saying.

Eth mining is better than ETC now.
I have 29GH ethash mining power and I will switch them to ETC in 15 Sept.
Everything is ready to siwtch, wallet and different flşght sheets for different GPUs.
I switch to ETC because the OC settings will be the same. The easiest way to switch to another coin mining for my 62 rigs.

I dont mine ETC right now because its not so profitable.
I think ETC price will rise after ETH pos migration. So, I bought some ETC after selling some ETH.
This way is more profitable.

WHY do you switching to ETC now ?

Because you have the ability to flex your mining muscle and you are choosing to not flex it.

You have 29gh

Move to

25gh eth
  4gh etc

If every one does this we shift the difficulty bomb by 1 week or 2 weeks or 3 weeks.

lets analzye this in your case

29gh is 29000 mh or 290 x 2.51 = $729.00 usd  a day for 20 days = $14558  if do nothing

or

25gh is 25000 mh or 250 x 2.51 = $627.50 usd a day for 20 days = $12550 and
 4gh is 4000 mh or  40 x 1.40 =.   $  56.00 usd a day for 20 days = $  1120
                                                                                     total = $13670

so you see 14558 vs 13670 you say I lose $888 usd.

But your case bomb hits brings us a total unknown

my case bomb has not hit brings us more status quo

I know damn full well that with 29gh you want more status quo.

So you would risk $888 and keep status quo for 1 ,2 ,3 maybe 4 weeks.

It also shows that miners can fully affect eth and delay the diff bomb.

If timed correctly a big shift from eth to etc prior to the bomb stalls the eth chain

To me its worth a shot talking about.

we are on epoch 512 epoch 513 comes in 15 hours so in 16 hours a large shift in eth hash will stall the eth chain. We should look into doing this.

Mr V has epoch every 30000 blocks

So epoch 513 comes in about 15 hours on block number 15,390,000 so say that is aug 22 at 7am EST

normally it takes about 100 hours to get to epoch 514 block number 15,420,000 and this would be Aug 26 at 11am EST but a good drop in hash between aug 22 and aug 26 may stretch the 100 hours to 110 hours. or 120 hours.

Very simple way to do it is shift some of your ETH to ETC

Do it for 2 epochs about 200 hours time  or 8 days or do it for more.

I will post my next change tommorrow. around 9 am

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 21, 2022, 05:04:17 PM
What's your gain if people delay this? Are you saying every miner needs to do the same? I want the bomb or merge to happen but it seems like miners are scared of what to come because I don't understand why they want this delayed.

Because you make more money as a miner if you push it out a month to oct.

I earned a bit less eth so far.
I earn etc which does not quite make up for the eth lost.

but by doing a delay to Oct 10 vs Sept 10

I earn more eth for those 30 days

the diff bomb hits 30 days later.

If I earn

240 usd  daily in eth from now to sept 10
0 usd  daily in eth from now to sept 10 it is about 4800 usd in eth

if I slowly shift to etc

I earn say 200 usd a day  in eth  from now to sept 10 . so 20 x 200 = 4000
I earn say  20 usd a day in etc from now to sept 10.  so 20 x 20 = 400

net is 4400 which is worse than 4800. people see this and think wtf am I talking about.

but the bomb does not hit sept 10 this way maybe it hits sept 20 or sept 30

if it hits sept 30. this is 20 more days of earning 200 + 20 = 4400

vs a bomb and maybe very little earnings at all.

I will study the math more I simply think it is a better method than

eth eth eth eth bomb etc

cost is not a lot 20 usd  a day for me  and I have 10.2gh involved.

As we all know eth pays better than etc

on viabtc.com

eth pays 0.0243 cents an mh
etc pays 0.0132 cents an mh

so a full switch from eth to etc is going to cost usd value daily.

but what does a partial switch do?

First it lowers the ETH diff. Yeah I pulled 1.3 gh off my eth and moved it to etc  did I really move the diff a lot all by myself? answer is nope, but lets look at eth hashrate last week

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / ETH diff bomb what can a miner do? on: August 21, 2022, 03:54:36 PM
Please note I am philipma1957's alt. I formed an LLC with forum member buysolar this year.

Thus this new account.

Well according to wenmerge.com the diff bomb is due in sept

9/13/2022. This date is drifting it was as early as 9/6/2022 it is now 9/13/2022

The drifting to a later date is because miners are leaving ETH and switching to ETC and other pools.

The diff for eth has dropped and this slows the bomb date.

I have started to move my 10.2 gh on eth to etc

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New coin for miners on: August 21, 2022, 02:46:35 PM

I have an idea start moving to etc now.

I have 10 gh hash.

I now do 8.7 eth and 1.1 etc

if diff lowers on eth now it will delay the bomb.

moving 10% of your hash to etc will slow eth blocks

do this again in 5 days or so.

I didn't think about that, it's interesting, maybe you can create a thread to spread the idea.
(I don't know how much we can delay doing this, we are small miners), maybe a couple of days?

I prefer mining Ethereum still, why are miners trying to delay the bomb? I want the fork to happen faster than others because Eth will had incredible value once the merge is complete, there will be more scarcity and yes we have the ETHW anyway.

Can someone tell me the difference between the ETHW and the sp_.

The value in USD of ETH is not guaranteed.
I agree with you about having ETH, and yes, it's the cheap and easy way for us to mine some ETH and hold, but I'm doubt about the near future.
Everyone is expecting a rising in value, but the merge can already be priced, and will depends of how BTC is going to be to follow.

I am working on Math to figure how much eth bomb could be slowed by migrating your hash from eth to etc in stages.

Quick estimate is about 21-28 days
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New coin for miners on: August 20, 2022, 10:59:46 PM
I made a small list, for everyone who does not know what to mine after ethereum

Ethereum Classic ETC
EthereumPOW ETHW
EthereumPOW  sp_
Ravencoin RVN
Conflux CFX
Ergo
Sero
Bitcoin Gold
BTCZ
Grin
AION
XHV
YEC
NEOX
Beam
Etho(ETHO)
Ubiq(UBQ)
QuarkChain (QKC)
Callisto(CLO)
Metaverse(ETP)
Flux
Firo
Other coin

https://whattomine.com/

I did not find the voting option.
And all miners are interested in the question of the hash rate of asics on the Ethash algorithm. If it is at least 100 Th/s, then what will be on all coins with the Ethash algorithm? What if this hashrate is much higher?

I have an idea start moving to etc now.

I have 10 gh hash.

I now do 8.7 eth and 1.1 etc

if diff lowers on eth now it will delay the bomb.

moving 10% of your hash to etc will slow eth blocks

do this again in 5 days or so.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: September is already here on: August 20, 2022, 05:15:17 PM
I am philipma1957's alt.

I was thinking if enough of us shift early to etc we could delay the difficulty bomb. We would need to do it systematically. Not super fast.

I moved 10 % of my hash to etc will do it again in 4 or 5 days.
20  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: August 19, 2022, 04:04:16 PM
And as multiple times before, you can't have your cake and eat it too, the difficulty is up only +0.6280% but the price is down on 7 days period -11.4%, income per TH/s sliding again, I think it hit below 9 cents. It kind of stops being only about eating the cake and more like getting an overpriced cake that is moldy and getting a beating because you didn't tip enough.

China has some shrinking rivers, and water levels are pretty low, some power cuts are happening, and we know there is still some mining going on there, so that could slow down the difficulty, EU zone is having a hard time getting gas and oil, energy prices are sky high, Kosovo had some power cuts recently, all of that could also help a bit with difficulty although I don't think there EU has any considerable hashrate to let go of.

I doubt that there is any major miner operation in mainland Europe still mining that doesn't have its own power generation and at this point, it's a bit hard for me to understand why should somebody burn energy to get a measly share in revenue where they could simply sell that energy on the market and get rid of a lot of troubles.
Assuming the XP at these rates, if you miraculously generate power at 5 cents you will make as much in profit as selling that power for 13cents on the grid, so, seriously you would earn a ton more by charging electric cars.

I am going with speculation. I can make 8 cents today selling the power or 3 cents mining but if BTC goes back to $65000 I made 9 cents.
That and generally power has to be used when it's generated. If there is no demand for electric car charging or to do other things you can either spin down the plant for a bit or mine. So once again, the miners will always run.

Pure guesses on my part but seem reasonable.

-Dave

We have developed 3 solar arrays in NJ

a   45kwatt =   7.5kwatt 24/7/365
a 115kwatt = 19.1kwatt 24/7/365
a 280kwatt = 46.6kwatt 24/7/365

they all net meter

Doing the math for these as to what power costs is next to impossible.

You could argue 17 cents is saved vs summer power cost
You could argue 10 cents is saved vs winter power cost and use of the heat
You could sell for 8 cents locally to a neighbor in the case of the 2 bigger ones. >>> NJ community power plant rules

So you can come up with 3 numbers for your kwatts spent.

There are so many programs rebates deals it is kind of countless.

The big plant in Clifton is close to Nasdaq's power source. We are trying to cut a deal to bring in a container which is a 40 foot UPS it would be charged by the solar. We would get fees to do this and it would fire up in a black out to run Nasdaq's servers. What is this value? I have zero idea. We also have a commitment to be a telsa+ev cars charging site.

So in order to decide how to value the mining vs selling the power or leasing the charger or running the Nasdaq UPS is really complex.

If I run 2kwatts 24 hours it is 50 kwatts (round up) I can do 1gh on eth and earn 1000x2.59 cents = $25.90 to burn 50 Kwatts that is 52 cents a kwatt.

that kills anything:

8 cents for  selling to a neighbor
11.4 cents for mining btc
17 cents saved on summer rates
10 cents saved on winter rates

Now picture all the money due to leave the mining system when eth goes POS.

I estimate 25 million a day goes poof.
Replaced by 3 million uncollectible interest.

This will decimate the industry of mining.  Yeah it will hurt BTC,LTC,Doge and other gpu coins.

or ETC will whale like a mofo.
