1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quark wallet (software) Question on: July 02, 2014, 01:42:25 AM
By the way I play two tickets with 5-lines each, each draw...
Some times I get froggy and play four 5-line tickets per draw with thwo number pools and two separate powerballs for each group (that 4 tickets)..
With a winning 4-line ticket that makes two winning 4-lines...
..
Incidentally in the lottery they cheat..
If you play 5 lines and win 4 numbers on two lines of the same 5-line ticket - THEY ONLY PAY YOU ONCE...
..
When I lived in Georgia I played single lines and bought twenty tickets for each draw.
GA Lottery didn't like me either - but they don't have any say in how you play...
..
In Arizona they think they can rewrite the rules at will..
..
Kinda similar to some of the stuff that goes on with Quarks and BitCoins..
..
But with BitCoins at least everyone is on a level playing field - slightly tilted, but you are not blindfolded like in the Lottery.
So you see it and can react...
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quark wallet (software) Question on: July 02, 2014, 01:33:55 AM
Bit mining BitCoin is interesting...
Do I expect to get rich - Really??? No way.
Would I expect to recoup my expenses?  I would hope so, but wouldn't be surprised if it wound up costing more than I gain..
Such is life..
But the hunt....
That's the savor of this quest...
..
Unlike the Lottery - "where your chances of winning only slightly increase by buying a ticket"
In the BitCoin realm your chances apparently are directly proportional to you hardwares' hash or computational speed.
But it is increased...
..
I play the lottery, even wrote a random reverse algorithm....
Only able to hit 4 numbers in Powerball consistently
Hit 5 numbers three times (within a month)
Lottery Folks were not impressed
4 Numbers fifteen times in 3 months and 5 numbers three times within last month.
They threatened to prosecute for cheating - but ended up requesting I not play.
They went as far as to state they would no longer pay out any winning - they say I'm cheating.
Lawyer says they are blowing smoke, so I quit for a year - then last year played three times in a row
First was 4 number
second was 5 numbers
third play was 4 numbers
They paid all three tickets...
..
Now there is no challenge..
Unless I want to buy something like another new car...
..
BitCoin is the same gamble....
..
But it is the savor of getting somewhere that makes it work for me...
..
Still, thanks for the advice
I do appreciate it...
But I am gonna play the odds..
And I'm gonna mine ,,, "1 coin , two coins three coins ,,, four ,,, that's what I'm goin for...."

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quark wallet (software) Question on: June 30, 2014, 07:13:57 PM
My bad...
I was misled early on that Bit Coin and Quarks are the same..
..
Now I find they are not..
..
The group that led me astray are mining with a data center..
I guess they figured I was dumb enough not to research and misled me so that I would give up..
..
They were wrong!!!
..
I apologize to all in this forum...
..
My current focus is Quarks - but I am interested in Bit Coin...
..
Since Quarks are extremely rare and almost impossible to mine now - I will probably shift my focus back to Bit Coin...
..
Thanks for correcting my perception and pointing me towards altcoins...
Otherwise I would have stumbled down this rosy path for at least a few more days...

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quark wallet (software) Question on: June 30, 2014, 05:30:24 AM
I still do not understand the altcoin classification... altcoin is the same as bitcoin... Quark coins are in fact bitcoins - are they not.  Is not the Quark the term used to classify the wallet - and does not a Quark Wallet hold the mined bitcoins?
..
Still,,, even if it were in fact an altcoin - the technical answer to the question would be the same?
..
Does anyone have an answer?
..
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Quark wallet (software) Question on: June 30, 2014, 02:33:01 AM
I am new to BitCoin/Quark Coin Mining - so please bear with me.
..
In my Quark Wallet there is a Help section
Then there is a Debug section...
..
As I undestand it you type getmininginfo in the command line and you get a miner status...
I get that..
..
But I do not know, nor can I find anywhere where the categories are explained.
..
After reading in this forum I have come to understand that there are in fact a few shady practices going on.
...
In an ear;lier post I posted a few of my Wallet Debug screens...
..
No one answered any of the questions - so I continue scouring and looking for answers....
No luck..
..
My question is:  In the getmininginfo status screen there is a "testnet :" category..
..
I keep seeing "currentblocktx" , "genproclimit: " , and "pooledtx : " change (sometimes there are 1's and sometimes there are 2's... once I had a 5 in pooledtx and a 5 in currentblocktx).
..
I am wondering what the "testnet :" means... I always get a "fail".  Am I correct in assuming that this means I did not solve the hash, or that I did not slve the hash in time?
..
I would really appreciate some feedback - as I said I am new at this and this subject does not seem to be covered at all anywhere on the forum.
..
Thanks

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Need explanation of Quark Wallet Terms on: June 29, 2014, 10:21:19 AM
Hi gang,,,
I posted a question earlier, but apparently posted it in the wrong place - or poorly worded the request...
..
Yes - I Am New Here (cant't ya tell?).
..
Please bear with me....
..
I have an issue with understanding the Debug results in the Quark Wallett...
..
Specifically::
<HELP> in the Header
<DEBUG>
Then i type "getmininginfo" in the command line.
..
I see where my Miner is mining - but I do not understand a few of the key results/paramaters
...
I need to know what the following are telling me:
pooletx :  (usually a 0 - but I am getting 1's and 2s as well) Huh?
genproclimit :  Usually a 1 (sometimes a zero and others a 2) Huh?
currentblocktx :  Usually a zero (but I am getting 1s, 2,s and 3s) Huh??
testnet :  false  (does this mean I solved a block if I get a 1 in cuurentblocktx and a 1 in pooletx?)
Does the "false" mean I didn't solve the block in time?
..
Also I am assuming that  erros : " " means that I do not have any reported errors.  But would not solving a block too late actually be an "error">Huh
...
I am trying to determine if I am actually mining, or are my mining critters just running around smashing random rocks and then returning to the Cantina to get loaded?
...
Can some one help me understand what is happening.
..
I am about to set up a few ASIC Miners and want to first see if I can get a handle on this mining thing...
..
In gold mining it is simple (well, not really - some technical and geology is invoved -)  The simple method is to go out to a promissing spot in a mountain stream and sluice gravel to obtain black sand - which you then pan to get gold flakes....
..
Here you have a separate language all its own..
..
I just need to try and get a handle on what it all means.
..
Thanks

7  Other / Meta / Did my post get moved?? on: June 29, 2014, 10:03:44 AM
Just curious..
Did my post get moved?
Or did I just post it in the wrong place?
..
Bitcoin Forum > Other > Alternate cryptocurrencies > Mining (Altcoins) > Quark Wallet - Mining Debug?
....
I was asking about the Quark Wallet Help/Debug function...
..
I do not understand what the data means and It looks to me like I am mining Coins but getting nowhere.
..
But then, as originally stated in the post - I Am a Noobee / Novice and new at this...
..
I spent the last half hour or so looking for my post
..
Then I found it in Altcoins?Huh

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Quark Wallet - Mining Debug? on: June 29, 2014, 12:58:47 AM
Bear with megang - I am obviously new at this.
And I am struggling to understand it with the limited info that I have found.
...
My issue is with the <HELP> <DEBUG>.
Can some one please explain this:
(Note: lease explain what the lines mean and what I am looking for, what is normal)
...
blocks :  1037367
currentblocksize : 1000
currentblocltx : 0
difficulty : 65053047998
errors : " "
generate : true
genproclimit : 2
hashspheresec : 11,363
pooledtx : 1
testnet : false
....
I noticed that pooledtx changed from 0 to a 1
..
But I am solo mining - I am not in a pool.
..
Did I obtain a Quark Coin for a pool?
Why, if I am solo mining?

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Solo Mining with a Raspberry Pi? on: June 28, 2014, 10:32:08 PM
Thanks for the speedy reply - but...
Your post link has one phrase which seems to be the bain of my existence..
In the requirements list it clearly states:
"You need a valid Mining Pool Account and Password"
..
Does this not imply that this is the set-up from a Pool Mining Raspberry Pi?
...
Huh?
I am looking to set up for a "solo Mining" arrangement.
..
Maybe I'm over looking something..
Maybe not..
But when I configure it it keeps asking for the "Mining Pool Account"..

13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best Share with an Antminer U2 on: June 28, 2014, 10:02:27 PM
I was just wondering if anyone ever found a BTC block with less than 10 GH/s.
I know that's nearly impossible to find a BTC block. It's like playin the lottery Wink
Have I found a block with my U2s?  Nope.  Am I trying?  You bet.  I solo mine with my 5 U2s.  Running on a Raspberry Pi, there's virtually no cost.

Best share I've seen on one of them?  98 million.
johnnybravo0311 - Did I read correctly?  You Solo Mine with a Raspberry Pi?
/..
I am looking for info on Solo Mining with a Raspberry Pi - But all I seem to be able to find is "Pool Mining".
How do you set yours up for "solo Mining"??
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Solo Mining with a Raspberry Pi? on: June 28, 2014, 08:41:26 PM
I have a Raspberry Pi Model B...
I want to mine solo with this...
..
All of the posts I have seen indicate Mining in a Pool...
..
I also have four ASIC USB Miner Block Errupters capable of 330 MHSec each.
...
Is it possible to utilize this as a "Solo Miner"  (yes I do realize that each of the ASIC Block Errupters will probably have to be configured as "individual Miners"..
..
My over all question is two fold :::
A) Can I use this hardware to Mine Solo
B)  If so - what software would I use?  Or, would I just have to install and bring a new wallet up to date on the Raspberry Pi?
..
DISCLAIMER::::  I realize I am asking a software question in the Hardware Section - but it is a Hardware question that also leads into any software requirements...  If I cannot Solo Mine with a Raspberry Pi, then the software is a mute issue.
...
I did not want to make two posts for the same project.  I will if the Moderator requires it - I just thought it would be redundant.
..
Thank you in advance for your help and consideration...
