Anon in general is so overhyped, how many people is it truly going to be useful for anyway? People scared of their own shadows lol. As I've said before, its just a pump and dump tool to get investment flowing, hook line and sinker, moth to a flame... this is crypto trading. As a casual trader, I couldn't give two ****s about it tbh, if it makes the price go up for a profit then whoopty freaking do. A certain segment of society wants to hide from the law and so wants anon. That group also has millions of dollars they want to move around anonymously. So which ever coin can provide that and is adopted by that group will become popular and thus will increase in price. In other words, the coin that delivers and gets adopted could very well dethrone bitcoin at some point and become the defacto standard. See the thing is, how will they cash out those millions? I mean they will be just like the bag holders now in cloak, screwed. Think about it, as they convert their millions, someone else is cashing out their money they used to buy in. Say they need the cash, then what? a Million dollar dump? Think about it, there are so many better and easier ways to hide money anyway but I guess that's for another discussion. If the government starts regulating, which they will do when it gets out of hand, all this is done. |

Trustless anon already exists in the cryptonote coins via ring signatures. And it hasn't exactly done them a ton of good so far. Yes, they have their own issues (potential bloat), but this race to trustless anonymity already has been won, sort of... just that people don't really seem to care.
This isn't meant as fud, nor do I even own any cryptonote coins (I owned some Cloak and still own some Drk). I'm just wondering why the hype over something that probably isn't as big a deal as people make it out to be.

I'm not surprised that Cloak price came crashing down, however, I am surprised how low its gone. I think most people seem to forget that some coins are pump and dumps and the others are 'renewable' pump and dumps to most casual traders. Anon is overrated in the eyes of most casual traders, just a hook line and sinker to start a pump.

i hold 12000 cloak bought @ 240k. Fucking hell, why did i do this?  You spent 29 BTC on CLOAK when it was @240?  ? how did you even plan to unload that much if it went up without crashing the price. Ah well, 8 BTC left! |

Taking into consideration the low volume of trading on mintpal, do you think it would be worth maybe delaying the really big news until consumer confidence recovers in the Altcoin world? I was thinking in regards to maximising the growth of XC so its true value is reflected in the price it should reach.
For example, if REV 3 was released tomorrow along with huge PR, I'd estimate there would be a struggle to break 180k simply because of the low trading volume.
Just want to get a few thoughts on the matter.
The market will react to innovation, XC should not and does not need to conform to or chum up with short term interests. I see your point knowbrainar, and I do think if mintpal recovers some of its volume it will be beneficial for all alts on there. Since Rev 3 is still a little ways off I think theres a chance we'll have good volume on mintpal and hopefully most other exchanges as well. Thanks for the answers. |

I dont think you guys understand why people are dumping and to be honest it blows my mind. It's simple, its nothing to do with the quality of the product, its how the messages are delivered and sometimes, the content.
Mistake 1, the late Rev 2 release, huge mega dump.
Mistake 2, promises new road map during the weekend, proceeds to make almost THE SAME mistake by revealing the new road map late on Sunday.
Mistake 3, road map is pretty much the same thing as the first one, just presented differently. Lets be serious, that is what took a few days to wait for and also with no ETA?
In the meantime no one seems to acknowledge the fact that there are other coins around that people can make short term money from while XC is floundering. People are able to make serious money in the crypto market but cannot do that if their money is tied in XC, and that is why they dump.
Its not a whale dumping, its people that want to make money and dont want to wait months.

This perspective doesn't adequately explain the facts. - the announcement of Rob Kremers? Big news, huge dump. - all the other non-minor announcements lately? Dumps right on the news. Look up my posts and compare their times with the dumps on Mintpal. It's obvious. I'm not particularly interested in discussing the complexities of expectations and deliveries. I've stated my opinion on this already, and I think that the reactions to our announcements have mostly to do with the circulating of misinformation and with the mysterious dumps. Your interpretation here rides upon these facts instead of preceding them. There is literally no need to discuss the complexities of expectation and deliveries, theres absolutely nothing to gain from it. You know your job, you're going to do your job the way you want to and investors will act accordingly in their best interests, end of. As I said, the reason is simple, whether anyone wants to except it or not, that's their choice. Its not only a whale that's dumping, while I do not dispute that there has been heavy manipulation of the XC coin (my post history will confirm as much), these dumps and price slumps are more than that. At the end of the day, for the majority of people this is all about making money as quick as possible (as safely as possible for the smarter ones). The daily updates that have been proposed is probably the best way forward to ensure confidence and stability in XC. |

If your trite "reasons" really are why some people are dumping then more power to 'em. I'll be glad to be there to scoop up the cheap coins. I'm not in this for daytrading or weektrading and I'll hazard a guess that the most of the folks here who truly understand what's going on aren't either. Focus Group was just an idea for me to throw out, dont get too hung up on it, common sense is all that should be needed. Make people wait too long for news (little dump out of fraustration). Road map similar to the one previously posted (little dump) + No ETA + increased fraustration + watching other coins blossom while you're tied up in a coin thats falling = (HUGE dump). In regards to a Focus group, if you had one for instance and you asked them "Hey when we say we'll release something on the weekend, would you be happier if we release it on a Saturday or late on a Sunday?" what answer do you think they would give? Well..... I am not going to lie, without any ETA the price will most likely fall, maybe even down to 100k again. Lets be honest, people want to make money and if they're tied up in XC with no ETA for anything new they will dump.
Guess I'll just hope to pick up more cheap coins.

This may be frowned upon but I will be brutally honest. After holding for ages, watching the coin go to 300k then back to 200k, then 270k, then 200k, then 220k then 180k, then 210k then all the way down to 170k and now at 130k I sold my coins. I sold @190 and bought back in cheaper because due to lack of news, its clear the down trend would continue for a little while so why lose thousands of pounds of my hard earned cash that I invested, when I could sell high and buy back when its cheaper? Hell, I was already down around 2k watching the pice fall from 300k to 200k, now I get to make that money back watching it rise from 130k-230k.
I will support XC, I will invest but give me more info in regards to a time scale so I have the will to hold when the price is high.

I think all this dumping is because people are tired of waiting for REV2 and are trying to short sell.
Be patient folks, it won't be much longer.
You can't short altcoins, not in the traditional sense. No exchange is allowing people to use margin, with the exception of BTC/LTC on Bitfinex. What you really mean is sell from an existing position in hopes of rebuying lower. This is exactly right. I think some are selling now and hoping to buy lower but some are just getting out. What happened with VRC and mintpal being attacked hit comstomer confidence hard and almost all coins are down. Yes there is a need for an updated road map and I fully expect the price to stay around this level controlled by 'whales' or w/e to make small profits moving XC up and down (mini pump and dumps) with low risk. This coin is still going places and is going to do big things. Once news of a date for the completed REV2 is released then people will start to look at this coin again. Maybe the team is just worried about making promises because of what happened before? Its good to be cautious, however keep in mind that if there is not sufficient enough information in regards to the time of the next big release then people will lose interest and sell. Hype sells! look at every single boxing match or hell any major event ever! Dont be too worried to create some HYPE! |
