1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] ShadowCash | Welcome to the UMBRA on: October 01, 2016, 08:01:16 PM
To everyone new to SDC (or any cryptocurrency for that matter ) , Please I urge you to not click ANY links posted by ANYONE rather than the developers. Do not even click a re-quoted link of a developer as this is how I was hacked for 55,000+ SDC.

Do not trust anyone on these forums. They are toxic , full of greedy people , social engineering you out of your crypto. Be smart.

ps. the Devs of SDC did nothing when I was blatantly hacked from someone in this thread. still after a year , nada. Brushed  it under the rug. Funny how I was in the top 10 richlist at the time , & for some reason they couldn't immediately re-roll the blockchain when this occurred.

not pointing fingers

stating facts

This is crypto. YOU are responsible for the safety of your funds. Not a bank, not a third party, not the Developers, YOU. Just stating facts.  It's unfortunate that you were hacked and I do believe everyone should heed your warnings and download from official links only.  Devs aren't going to rollback the blockchain every time someone gets hacked, sends to a bad address, or has a corrupted wallet.  Being in the rich list is irrelevant, it just means you need to be that much more careful with your funds.

You having to deal with the consequences of your actions does not mean your issue was "swept under the rug".

The difference is one name markets to a small audience were a more neutral name targets a larger audience...
So if you target only darknet users you will get only them... if we target the general public we get them and we still get the darknet users because they will use us regardless..not to mention the wider the audience, the wider the potential user base and since we are pos that equals are more robust and secure system.
a neutral name will only have positive consequences for this project.

It's all about problems and solutions. Right now, mainstream has other market solutions I've listed in the previous posting operating in their native currencies. There doesn't appear to be a huge problem here, and Shadow project does not offer significant advantages over them. I think it will be extremely difficult to pull these users away from these established markets and it would likely take years to build any volume.

However in the darknet, Shadow solves a huge privacy and anonymity issue and is not such a technological leap from what is in place. You will get much more bang for your buck marketing to those users. It's the niche we need to chase. Having a Shadow Market in Shadow wallet with Shadow currency is just brilliant for this. Darknet users do need ordinary stuff, too. Once the market is up and flourishing, mainstream goods and users will follow. Eventually, shadow will no longer be a dirty word.

Anyway, good discussion and I hope we can arrive at some democratic agreement. Cheers.

"A market where anyone is free to buy or sell, whatever they want, whenever they want to whomever they want and maintain their privacy."

I'm sure dnm users will understand the far-reaching implications of this.  I think it all depends on how exactly the overall message is tailored though.

And as dadon said, there are definite advantages to the market being decentralized. For one, you won't need to give a significant portion of your profits to a middleman (ebay, amazon, etc).

I would like to nominate Dan Metcalf (atcsecure), lead developer of XCurrency and Blocknet(the internet of Blockchains)

XCurrency | https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630547.0 | http://xc-official.com/

Blocknet | https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=829576.0 | http://theblocknet.com/

I too nominate Dan

I nominate Dan Metcalf as well.

i think Arlyn is a little "Fudhurt" in the last couple of days. Smiley some valid questions landed kind of in the wrong folder. understandable. if Dan announces sticks to be shipped a quick delay message like given today would have ended that particular discussion some days ago.
If there is one person that should really second guess his PR moves its Dan. yet again he caused the questions Arlyn had to respond. i see a pattern here. No offense Dan . You clearly don't have a PR mind. but with every post you are also engaging in "public relation". there is a difference between tech talk for bugfixing which can be spontanious and on the fly, and announcing a product to be shipped.

Anyway, i think the next news coming with the new thread will be very positive from the communitys perspective, not only the team perspective. there was kind of a gap lately. that will be closed as i see the next news beeing centred around XC mainly. I'm really curious.  Wink

Lol'd At "Fudhurt" Smiley.

I've been sensing an air of resentment coming from Arlyn's posts as well.  I just wanted to say that XC's most loyal investors are still in this thing; our resolve unaffected by the FUD Smiley.  I ask that you do not run the risk of alienating these community members by ignoring genuine, relevant concerns.  I do see a day when you will need to separate yourself from the community to focus on higher tasks but right now is not the time. Mending the rift between the investors and the team in anticipation of new releases should be of utmost importance.

I'm still here, still holding, and still harbor great respect for the team.

So, just trying to confirm what Dan stated in the new XC thread, he won't be developing for UTIL but finding a fitting lead dev for that project?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: November 06, 2014, 05:09:09 PM
Has there been any discussions about PR changes?

Andreas Antonopoulos has suggested that PR was an issue.  Additionally, the two existing members of the XC Foundation have officially resigned citing PR concerns.  Other community members including myself also have major concerns about PR.  The public and your investors are telling you there is an issue.  Fortunately there are actions you can take which will help remedy the situation and return confidence to your organizations.  Making changes is vital and I look forward to seeing the actions you take to ensure that XC and BlockNet are considered reputable and respectable organizations.

What specifically are the issues you're speaking about? A lack of PR?

I had not gotten the 10% discount when I purchased Block this morning. This evening, I sent an email to Coingateway with the transaction I.D and I got my discount within 10 minutes  Smiley.

Lets say XC was a uniqe and effective knife on the altcoin market. Now a leatherman, containing the exact same knife which was uniqe once and other usable things like a fork ,is available for sale. Will the price of the knife fall due to less demand?
for me the answer is clear  Undecided

bad metaphor.
the demand for the knife here can't fall since its still the exact same knife here only existing once with blocknet. the knive in your leatherman acts like a second new knive that is a direct competitor. thats not equivalent to the situation of XC with the blocknet present. its more like a knive owner, a fork owner and some more guys with unique tools form an alliance that makes it possible for each member to borrow the other guys tools for a fee. so the knive is still unique but from time to time the knive owner will make some extra money cause one of the alliance bros is using it. the tool getting borrowed the most in the alliance will turn out to be also the most valuable to buy.
thats the right metaphor. youre welcome
ah thanks!
that was new to me. so i get fees from the blocknet for holding xc ?
sounds nice
missing piece

Well, you get payments from running your Xmixer. The blocknet just expands the user base. More users, more fees collected.

An update from CoinGateway:

Coingateway has about 40 tickets in-process for payments‏.

Once those are done, they will do the 10% payouts.

This is likely (but not certain) to happen at around 21:00GMT (5pm EST‏).

So they'll automatically issue the payouts for those who purchased with the participating altcoins or will there be a kind of claims process?

im getting an invalid address as my blocknet wallet, and that 1 time that 19.12321312 shares were left... are they really out? :O

PS: found ivalid address problem but they sayt hat amount needs to be lower than 19.62... Huh

I remember the team mentioning that there's a limit to how much block can be purchased using altcoins. Maybe that limit has been reached. Have tried purchasing using BTC?

Anyone having problems exchanging XC to Blocknet shares?

I keep getting a blocknet address problem on Coingateway site.

I didn't have any issues.  Check the blocknet thread, they have a solution if you are getting the "invalid address" error.

Forget to click on the blocknet icon, doh!

WTF - I just had invoice underpaid at coin gateway - do you just transfer the amount you ask for or do you have to add something - fuck. They
have my xc now.

I overpaid by 2 xc just to be safe.  They gave me contact and transaction details for me to reclaim the balance (I assume). Seems like a hassle.

Why even have buy orders higher than, say, 30k sats? If they're in this much of a hurry, let them dump ridiculously cheap.

How does ROI enter into this if funds are gathered in staggered offerings or all at once.  It doesn't.  Hmm actually wait it just might.  Let's examine a possibility.

500,000 shares offered initially to start development.  All coins sell out as the lower risk of fraud make people feel it unlikely that smaller amount of funds will be stolen or sold without product development.

Development starts
Regular updates done
First operational product with most basic feature(s) working

Market Exchange price has increased do to investor confidence in development by 20%

Stage 2 fund raising - 1,000,000 shares sold at market value (or slightly less) of .0003

Development continues
Features added and tested successfully
Concerted ad campaign

Market Exchange price has increased 15% due to continued confidence and new investor influx.

Stage 3 fund raising - 2,000,000 shares sold at market value of .000345

Ect... until 10,000,000 are sold.

Not only does this method allow a larger investment base over time it generates more income as the price rises due to successful development.  It also instills great confidence not only in initial investors but any future investors will see the road travelled so far and know their funds are going to a stable and established project.  Doing it all in one shot will turn a lot of people off and will hurt investment funds as it was stated that once the ITO is over no new shares will ever be created.  Trying to collect everything up front with no product will net you less funds than staggered fund raising.

You will sell less shares(likely at a lesser price as well)
You will not be able to offer shares again down the road(as per your plans)

____________

"the higher the risk the higher the possible roi or loss."

the higher the risk the higher the possible roi or loss. some are willing to take the risk some don't . i don't get the problem since nobody is forced to invest into the blocknet or anything else here. don't you guys get how investing works. check the variables and decide yes or no. whats all the bitching about. not only with blocknet. 50% of this forum are complaining about ito policies or wrong strategies like they should have any fucking say in it. just don't throw your money at it and walk. its that simple. If you think you can do it better. nobody is holding you back either.

I don't see that as any sort of compromise.  They still have all the money up front and all we have is hope for a product.  No contractual obligations... Nothing.

I'm sorry but I don't see any rational explanation for requiring all the money up front instead of staged investment phases.  It instills faith in investors both that development will continue, and that no one is likely to run off with 2500 BTC on the community.  It's not just 2500 BTC either.  If something did happen and funds disappeared all or in part, then XC would likely completely collapse as a result costing XC investors of the coin itself everything.  Not to mention all participating coins likely being crippled or dead as well.  There is a lot more at stake than just the share funds here.

I think it is irrational that fundraising wouldn't be done in the most trustworthy and confidence building way possible, and I'm sorry but "pony up all the cash first" doesn't cut it on a scale of this value.

I and anyone can choose to invest or not, but before you argue as an apologist for their proposed fund raising plan think about the stakes not only for the raised funds but for all the coins involved and all the people who have money invested in them.  Then think about the crypto community in general.  There is enough at stake here that these devs can do a little extra work and wait a little extra time to rake in 10,000,000 shares worth of coins.

It boggles my mind that people wouldn't want their investment risk to be minimized in this way.

I like the idea, but any change to the ITO's structure at this stage would place the project in a precarious situation. Not only would the team need to re-inform all potential investors in a short amount of time, but the team's image would draw further criticism in terms of planning, organization, and legitimacy. It'd be one heck of a balancing act that may or may not pay off.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: October 22, 2014, 09:10:34 AM

Hey, let's take a moment to get some perspective. Sometimes fudders can make it seem like XC is somehow lacking or in trouble, but that's a pure illusion.

- XC's private payments and (non-group) XChat are working beautifully.

- Nothing even remotely compares to XC's anon tech.

- We're on the verge of XC Mobile!

i have said for weeks now that this should be the core of the PR efforts. nothing will sell XC like its anonymity. which is the first and only that really carrys on with satoshis vision on all fronts while bringing full privacy.

this will sell XC and i don't see the point in waiting forever to communicate not to experts but in simple words what is getting worked on here. you do the same with blocknet. the PR was easy to understand compared to the mesh net ones. it has an emotional catch phrase with "internet of blockchains". we need that for XCs privacy tec too. like "privacy the Satoshi way" but thats probably to abstract but somthing like that.

i love the blocknet but it is to new to be the driving force here.

people will have to learn that the blocknet is beneficial for xc by seeing first hand. You can repeat yourself millions of times the next weeks it won't matter.

and please never use "enough said" again it sounds super arrogant even not intended.

I feel what you're saying here. Unfortunately I've been seeing the whole "not open source? It's just vapor" thing popping up much more frequently.  It seems no matter what kind of advances are being made people love to find some way to diminish them.
