1  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Mint Coins- Serious Issue- Titan Mint Bitcoin Coins ***NEW UPDATES*** on: September 07, 2023, 08:06:02 PM
I should also add I have now received the 0.4574 BTC from titan for my unfunded (2fa) 1BTC silver coin as well.

Thanks for sharing. Afaik you are the first to confirm this. With the known caveat of 45 cents on the dollar, this is the first 2fa coin I know of to be redeemed in years. I know others are in the process of looking over and signing the required waivers.

I just successfully redeemed two coins as well. 45 cents on the dollar. glad to be done with this mess.

Hey guys...I hear both of your frustrations with each other, but this topic is supposed to be here to help provide information to those who really need it.  This back and forth thing makes it tougher to read through and get that information.  I'm thinking about the new guy who just found this forum/topic, as well as those of us following it closely.  For the good of the community, can we call a truce or just chill a bit or take it to pm's?

Thanks gents.  Wink

I second this...please take it to PM's so we don't have to wade through this to get the information we're looking for

Did anyone get on the call today with Titan / Tim. I had work stuff and couldn't make it.

I was going to ask the same question.  I was flying at the time and couldn't make the webinar either.

Did Tim say he would make a recording available by chance?

I also missed it. He said he would email it to us?

Ty....Again incredible job with your detective work! I agree I am surprised nobody has done anything unless its happening already.

I mean this guy is in the USA! ThankGod I have only the redeemed coins and never lost a Satoshi cause of this issue!

I do hope this is investigated by legal authorities and accountability is held against Titan!

What I find surprising is the fact that with the number of people some of these coin makers have stolen from nobody has found them and just beaten the crap out of them.
I don't think violence would solve anything, and I don't think any violence should be done to these people. I am just talking about the number of people involved in the amount of money involved it's just a testament to the fact that either:

1)We as a group are calmer then most
or
2) as a group we are incredibly lazy

I'm not just talking Titan and yogg but over the years everybody who has ripped off everybody, nobody or at least nobody has reported, any physical violence done to these people.

As a group humans are not usually prone to being rational; and there is always that person that says screw it they'll never able to figure out who did it and take a bat to the perpetrators...

Nice to see we are better than that.

-Dave

I do hope we do not fall under the incredibly lazy group...I hope there are people in here with deep pockets that can start a legal process
to bring justice where justice is needed in the USA....same applies to that other scum in France.

Time will tell and I do hope that someday we can all see news of people arrested for their crimes

I don’t know what’s holding everyone up. If I had even 1 .1 2FA Titan I’d have retained legal counsel and made it a class action type deal. I implore people to stop thinking they just simply cut their losses and move on. By not taking action you’re teaching the scammers who watch these threads, and we all know there’s always scammers creeping in the background trying to plan their next scam. Not one physical coin maker who’s rug pulled has been brought to justice. If we continue to do nothing, and people continue to buy funded items, this is 100% going to happen again and again. I’d say it’s likely at least one of the current coin makers will rug pull.
Pains me to hear that it seems like all crypto collectible scammers have gotten away with it so far.
Fully agree with your statement, ChiBitCTy. Luckily I never owned any 2fa Titans. However I do understand that if you are only slightly affected (let's say by losing one 0.1 2fa value) and you have a busy life with family and work etc eating most of your time already, you think twice before entering probably expensive and very time consuming legal action. That said, given the value of some of these coins and also the fact that some folks bought a bunch of them, it really makes you wonder.
Just bringing one of these scums to justice would defintely set a nice precedent for any physical maker out there.

Eh...I've found it to be rather difficult. I know quite a few and have yet to find a lawyer that wants to take something like this on...it's a lot of work with very little chance for it to actually pay off. From what multiple (lawyers) have told me...the only reason anyone would want to take this would be for the potential publicity it could bring...that being said, I haven't given up, I'm kind of biding my time on a few other ideas seeing if they might pay off. I've waited 10 years for redemption, what's another year or two?
5  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Mint Coins- Serious Issue- Titan Mint Bitcoin Coins ***NEW UPDATES*** on: March 30, 2023, 03:00:59 PM
I reached out to Tim on March 14th via the email he sent me when I originally purchased the coin(s), just before I found this thread.

He responded on March 16th, saying:

Hi,

Can you provide the coin IDs?  I'm sure you know the website is down right now and has been for some time, so if you have 2FA coins we'll need to redeem them manually.  Private keys coins can be redeemed in most wallets without our involvement.

Tim

I responded immediately with the info he requested, plus a few follow-ups, but I haven't heard from him since.

I'm not seeing an 'Investigations' board...not sure where to find it. Would 'scam accusations' be the proper board? If so, as a newbie, can I actually create a thread?

Jr. Members and Newbies cannot see the investigations board because it's hidden from them.

Investigations is a subboard of Scam accusations. See https://prnt.sc/5cvmty_qtgwM (I can't get an embedded link to the image)

Looks like I can't partake:
"The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."

Any other suggestions?

Anyone make any progress in here?
9  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Mint Coins- Serious Issue- Titan Mint Bitcoin Coins ***NEW UPDATES*** on: March 16, 2023, 01:48:08 AM
Did someone contact the FBI? They have a whole division dedicated to Crypto crime. Id say also, that most BTC theft originates from oversees so the FBI's hands are tied and its difficult to get resolution. But in this case since most of the victims and the suspect are on US soil it may get bumped up to priority.

I am driving to the San Diego FBI field office tomorrow.  I live about an hour north.  If anyone else is interested in joining me, drop me a PM.

I contacted a crypto-tracing company called Cipher Blade and spoke with them about tracking our stolen bitcoin.  They said they could, but are generally hired by a law firms and used as subject matter expert witnesses in court cases.  They advised me to go to an FBI field office directly and forego the IC3 website, but only if it was convenient.  And in my case, it definitely is.  Otherwise, just file online.

This is great. I just googled and found a field office really close to where I'm at, too (northern California). I might be able to pop by on Friday.

But in this case since most of the victims and the suspect are on US soil it may get bumped up to priority. Plus they are not hampered by state lines and have extra resources to track him down. I do think someone should organize a list of US victims, total losses for each person, contact info, a written synopsis of everything that happened, and  most recent suspect info. Id start calling them immediately or go down to local field office before statute of limitations expires.

THE ABOVE.

Additionally, what I think makes this case different that just 'cyber crime' is that we have actual physical products with an ascribed cyber value. His actual signature is on the certificates of authenticity, as well...

You two have said your peace, now please let’s move on. If you want to continue to discuss your issues with each other, please do so privately via DM.  More and more victims of Titan mint continue to find this thread and its important that we keep everything completely on topic. You guys have gone through all this multiple times now..please guys.

@everyone.. I think a good course of action at this point is to draw up a summary of what happened, and where everything currently stands. I will add this to the OP so that when new people come in, they can easily find out what’s going on without having to go through 20+ pages. If anyone is willing to assist with this, that of course would be very helpful!

Can we possibly put it all in a new thread? Maybe top post could be the summary and useful info? I can help if necessary...DM and I'll give it a go.

What I would propose is creating some sort of list of all affected...I know I only created my account *yesterday*, so I don't expect anyone to trust me, but I can create a google form or something if y'all want so we can gather some contact details and know who has a vested stake and the scope of the actual issue. I spoke with a lawyer today as well and I think having an actual summary and being able to put some numbers to the issue might be able to build some momentum...

Ok...I'm not flying tomorrow so I will drive to La Habra PD and file in person.

If anyone has any information you feel would be helpful in the police report, please PM it to me.

If there's anything I can provide - let me know. I have all email correspondences with Titan from purchase plus can pull any screenshots down from the waybackmachine

How can I tell which one I have?

Do you have the full btc addresses of the coins? Does your certificate say PK or 2FA if you have them? If you don't have the addresses, I'd venture to guess they are 2FA coins, but if you do, check them on the blockchain to see if they are funded.

Edit - use walletexplorer.com if you have only the firstbits like on the coin pics.

This is what a PK coin looks like:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5400342.0

2FA -

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5365719.msg58209864#msg58209864

That was helpful to see the two different types. Thank you.
Unfortunately, it looks like I have the 2FA version. Shit.
Firstbits on walletexplorer shows nothing. Double shit.

Only recourse at this point is the FINCEN report?

Hey everyone...I just joined as I tried checking the Titanbtc.com website this morning and noticed it was down for the first time since I bought my Titans...found this thread while googling around and my heart sank.

So it looks like I'm another victim of this cluster...

What is the latest? Is there anything anyone can do? I saw a link to FBI and another one to https://www.fincen.gov/contact - is there anything else we can do to try and figure out this mess? Has anyone begun the process for a class action lawsuit? I have yet to peel the holo off my coins...is that something I should be doing?

Thnx to anyone who responds!

I would recommend reading the last few pages of this thread.. I mean if I were you I’d probably read through the whole thread (skip through the drama posts), but the last few pages are what’s most important to know right now.

One of the main reasons I created this thread was to warn others outside of BitcoinTalk whom I figured would be eventually searching for information via google once they found out that they were unable to redeem their coins.  I’m glad you were able to find it..was it easy to find or did it take some time? I was thinking of rewording the thread title to try and make it easier to find.

Yeah, I read through every page of the thread....all of the drama posts I mostly skimmed over...but yeah. I just happened to look up the Titan QR on my coins today and noticed the site was down...then I started looking for the whois info, did some googling and looking on the waybackmachine...found the dudes name and then googled 'Titan BTC Tim Fillmore' and that's how I ended up here. It was like the third or fourth result down, but I did notice it since everything else seemed irrelevant. Thank you for creating it.

I guess I'm not really sure what to do. I saw a few bits and pieces in here about what others have done, but I'm kind of confused...I bought these in 2013 and they are 2013 Silvers...I validated through them, believe they were funded, but I have yet to peel anything as I'm not sure what to do once I do. Should I peel them? If so, how do I check to see if there's any value? Can anyone provide like a simple 1, 2, 3? If there is value I should send them to a diff wallet and I suppose if there's no value on them then I'll also be submitting a form to that FINCEN link...what a shame.

If you have the 2 factor authentication ones, then you are fucked. If you have the regular private key ones the. You should be fine… just from what I’ve gathered from reading

How can I tell which one I have?

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you Think might aid the global adoption of Bitcoin? on: March 15, 2023, 12:54:13 AM
IMO...this probably sounds really dumb, but IMO simplest thing to increase adoption would be to start stating price and value in satoshi's...I think most people who hear the word 'bitcoin' and don't know anything about it already assume it is out of their reach. If they only knew they could buy in for less than a dollar I bet we'd see more widespread adoption...

please count me in this list as well
