1  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How do you know you are profitable trader on: September 19, 2025, 07:13:41 PM
And the best step to be profitable is knowing what you are doing , like having a good strategy even when you haven’t completely mastered it , having enough capital and learning from your mistakes and knowing how to prevent such mistakes from the lesson the market has taught you .
Being profitable is not all about bagging the profits. It contains things like discipline, emotional control and a good psychology about the market. Avoiding taking losses isn't a part of being profitable that's because Even the best trader takes bigger losses, but how do they remain profitable in the market? It requires your ability to accept the fact that the market is not your, you will surely have to give to take from it..
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The biggest difference between BITCOIN and ALTCOINS on: September 19, 2025, 11:39:27 AM

I will say this: bitcoin is expensive try altcoin, then you will end coming back to it.

Alot of people are drawn to the high risk, high reward world of altcoins. Despite being aware of the dangers, the potential for rapid gains is what captures their attention.they see a new coin with a lot of hype and immediately think of a quick profit.Yes we know that a lucky pump can lead to huge returns, the flip side is a sudden and total loss of your investment.this volatility is a double edged sword.

many investors see Bitcoin as a slow and steady option. While it's generally considered less risky, it doesn't offer the same thrill of explosive growth that altcoins do. Only a few savvy investors are smart enough to diversify, using both Bitcoin and altcoins to balance their portfolios and hedge against potential losses.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who is in position to feel the regret? on: September 18, 2025, 07:45:04 PM
So I am to ask, between me and my friend who is in position to feel this regrets regarded that I won nothing and he made some cash out ?
Like some has already mentioned, you and your friend might be gambles, but you cannot have same reason to feel regrets. You play your games in different ways, using different risk management plan. Your friend might have been greedy in a way, because honestly if the game had not continued he would have been happy and said he had the skill in him. So I don't see any reason for him to be sad or complaining about his past game instead of moving on to the next one. And if he actually uses the mindset of his previous game to play his next, I can assure you he would loss. He might be thinking as well that he will have to let the next game play completely only to find out that the game ends in loss..
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever think of how you started gambling? on: September 18, 2025, 06:58:13 PM
But for gambling I haven't seen anyone who is gifted in that area where such people (person's) would keep winning for long run and even if that is possible do you think whether the gambling site beit local gambling do place restriction or limits on such persons?
Everything in gambling is lucky. Though someone has to start from somewhere before archiving or attaining that height in gambling. Being able to predict is a skill everyone wishs to have, but its not something common. People with that sort of skill are usually very rare and they aren't going to be the quite type. Casinos may not be okay with such people playing all the time on their platform. They would sooner or later begin to create reasons for him to loss. And when they find out that they can no longer do anything to stop his win, they just stop him completely from gambling. Casinos are as friendly as they might seem. So one with such abilities would be better off playing on different casinos..
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do not have high amount of money on an online device. on: September 18, 2025, 06:48:35 PM
What if you are a victim before the security patches.
Anyone can fall victim of this. Even an expert will still be caught by these criminals if he's not careful how he stores his coins. As someone who has a lot of crypto is not advisible to leave them on your online device. Even if you can't get a cold wallet to store them, you can create a wallet and remove it completely online and only monitor it through watch only wallets..

With the way technology is getting advanced daily, we will may see more vulnerability in our devices and it's very important for every crypto owner to apply wisdom to funds security. Prevention is definitely better than a cure, but in crypto there's just no cure. When you lose your coins, it's gone..
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cold storage? Still Have a Backup.. on: September 18, 2025, 06:40:26 PM
Your report is not bad, but you forgot to add something personally to it. And you know, that's not a good sign.  Grin
What backup method do you use yourself?
I can share my ways: I have two pieces of cryptosteel capsule, and I also have backups in an encrypted Veracrypt container, which is stored in several places.
Come on, it's your turn.
Lol, I got a hardware wallet back then in 2023, Ive got some coins on it too, it's more like a long term for me. My other wallets, aren't cold storage but I have all my keys backed up using paper and pen including that of the hardware. I check them from time to time to make sure it's still intact, though the only thing about paper back up is that over time, it begins to fade off.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Cold storage? Still Have a Backup.. on: September 17, 2025, 10:33:57 PM
Over my years in this space, I've read countless stories of people losing access to their funds. It's not just newbies, even old Bitcoin investors who stored their coins on cold storage devices tucked away under their beds, have been hit hard. They return years later only to find their hardware wallet has failed, corrupted, or simply won't work.

The loss can be substantial. This is why, as a long term holder, you need to be smart enough to realize that a hardware wallet alone doesn't guarantee the safety of your funds. These devices can and do fail.
The key to preventing such a disaster is having a proper backup of your keys. If you have a backup of your wallet, the device's failure won't be a major problem. You can simply restore your coins using the backed up seed phrase on a new device.

Some risks of hardware wallet failure

Hardware wallets are praised for their security, but they aren't foolproof. They're physical devices susceptible to a range of risks. Some which includes;
  • Physical Damage: Like any electronic device, hardware wallets can be damaged by water, fire, or physical impact. Dropping the device or exposing it to extreme temperatures can render it useless.
  • Component Degradation: Electronic components have a limited lifespan. Over time, the internal chips, memory, or battery can degrade, causing the device to malfunction or completely fail.
  • Firmware Corruption: A device's firmware can become corrupted due to a bad update, a power surge, or other software glitches, making it impossible to access your wallet.
  • Loss or Theft: If the device is lost or stolen, and you don't have a backup, your funds are gone forever.

Sometimes, the oldest and simplest methods are the most reliable. I've seen many people come to the forum introducing or tried to invent new, "easier" ways to back up their seed phrase, from digital photos, cloud storage, memorization, encryption, colour codes and many more I can't mention all. Many of these methods will only lead to losing their funds. The most reliable method is still a written backup.
To secure your backup, use a pen and paper or a more durable medium like a metal plate. Store this physical backup in a safe, secure, and private location, such as a fireproof safe, a safety deposit box, or a secure hidden spot in your home.

This written key will likely outlast any electronic device and is the most reliable way to ensure you can always restore your wallet, no matter what happens to the hardware.
Remember, a cold wallet is a great tool for security, but it's only half the solution. The other, arguably more important half, is a secure backup of your seed phrase. Without it, you're just one hardware failure away from a devastating loss. Be smart, stay safe, and always have a backup..
8  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does Trading Competitions Really Get the Best Out of You? on: September 17, 2025, 09:49:07 PM
1. Don’t judge until you’ve actually tried.

2. Some comps do provide a fairer playing field.

3. Pick competitions that match your category and strength.
When it comes to trading challenges, the game providers usually speaks alot about using bots and if any user is caught in the process he would be removed asap. There are many trading challenges organised by many big companies within the year but just few are heard off. And sometimes the once not heard of are actually the best and trusted once. Exchange like bybit runs such crypto challenges from time to time, it's a way to encourage new and experienced traders to test their skills and remain in the market for long. Long enough to master their craft. If you end up losing the challenge, you can try again another time.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bankroll management is not a strategy. on: September 17, 2025, 09:44:24 PM
In gambling in general and in sports betting in particular, bankroll management is very important. It is really important because it helps to avoid financial disaster. But if you play not only for fun and thrills, then we should also remember about strategy. Many people implicitly try to replace strategy with bankroll management. But I think you will agree with me. We forget about strategies all the time. Bankroll management is not a strategy. Bankroll management only helps you not to lose your bankroll immediately. You will lose your bankroll gradually, slowly, but still you will not avoid losing your entire bankroll, because most likely you do not want to know anything about strategies or even replace them with bankroll management.
Do you agree with me? Or do you think that bankroll management is a strategy?
When it comes sto gambling, I don't find any thing most important compared to bankroll management. It's one of the most vital part of our gambling activities and every gambler who wish to stay long in the game, no matter what do called strategy you are using to play your games, you should take good note on how to manage your bank roll. It might not seem much because many of us might have certain ways to help manage our bank roll, but its as important.

For me, I don't believe much in anything like strategy when it comes to gambling. We play for fun, so I won't want to stress my self studying some randomly controlled games by an algorithm. Things like sport betting can be studied and certain strategies may be applied...
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Father becomes a Gambling addict and daughter faces father's consequences. on: September 16, 2025, 08:53:56 PM
now my question is that is it good for me to inform this innocent girl about the cause of her dad constant demand of money? or should I forget about it to avoid problem? Or if you noticed this type of situation what would you do to help the situation because the girl is getting bankrup servicing his father's addiction unknowingly?
Don't call uncessary consequences to your self. It's a family issue, so let her find out by her self. Her dad knows when best to let her know and knows why he has kept it a secret from her all this while. In cases like this, one has to consider what relation he has with the family, so you don't be the one to cause problems for them. You might feel like you want to help to fix, but somethings are just supposed to be left unsaid.

One thing we all know is that her father is actually wrong here. He should know that his daughter has a life of her own to live, he's wasting her hard earned money on gambling, showing that he's an addict already...
11  Economy / Economics / Re: The economy of having children on: September 16, 2025, 07:58:48 PM
Do not get me wrong, kids are a blessing but realistically speaking they are expensive. Is it fair to yourselves and to the kids to have kids just to leave it up to them to be wealthy and let them grow up through hardships?
Do we because of our current condition in life, avoid having kids? I don't think children has anything to do with anyone's current state of mind. They are supposed to be a reason for one to work even harder just so you can provide them a better life. Many parents wants what's best for their kids. They go through hell just to see that the children are well fed. They don't ever feel like the kids are some kind of bondage or feels regret over having them.

The economic situation in our countries might not be favourable, but in many countries the government sometimes assist parents who might not be able to meet up with their children expense. They provide them education and other things that would aid them along the way...
12  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Rich have more opportunities than the poor when it comes to bitcoin accumulation on: September 16, 2025, 07:48:40 PM
So do you agree with me that the rich have more advantage to accumulate more Bitcoin than the poor?

The rich folks has enough capital to invest in the market, so it makes sense when it comes to realising profits, the rich would have more to claim than the poor. One thing I know very well Is that many poor folks might not even consider investing their money in anything that would take such amount of time to yield profits. They need every penny to survive, so investing might not even be on their taught.

I created a post recently, discussion similar taughts about the rich and the poor folks. And honestly, when it comes to bitcoin, everyone has equal access to enjoying the benefits of bitcoin. But it now depends on their mindset and willingness to invest or take the risk..
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we be concerned big firms and countries are hodling more bitcoin? on: September 15, 2025, 08:08:48 PM
There is nothing that concerns the institutions and countries about decentralization, what that concerns them is that they see bitcoin having the potential to increase more in price and marketcap just like how gold is and they are buying it because of that which can be a very good alternative to the United States dollars that they are all having in their reserves.

I couldn't agree more. It's truly heartwarming to see institutional investors and nations embrace Bitcoin, not for its groundbreaking ethos of decentralization of course but for the thrilling opportunity to boost their bottom line. It's a case of why not? when you've got enough capital to burn a hole in your pocket and nothing to lose.

But let's be real. These guys are just playing in the kiddie pool. The true titans of the Bitcoin aren't found on Wall Street or in a government treasury. They're the bitcoin OGs, the whalesfrom the early days who are sitting on generational wealth in cold wallets. An institutional buy in might make for a great headline, but the real showstopper would be if one of those sleeping giants decided to wake up and sell off thoer bitcoins. That's the kind of move that would really get the market's attention.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The relationship between gambling, gender and risk taking on: September 15, 2025, 06:36:54 PM
So even when you see women gambling, it's often because they don’t have anyone to take on the responsibilities around them  and that's the reason why they sometimes take the risk to gamble.
Well, I won't say that a man goes into gambling because he wants to look for a way to take care of his family. Yes when he wins, the money is spent to take care of things at home. But that's basically not why men takes such risk. Like I'll always tell people, men are naturally risk taker. Though not all, but some percentage of men just enjoy doing what looks a bit out of the ordinary. Gambling requires a lot of dedication because we don't only loss our money in gambling, but also our emotion and mindset. Men are very good in controlling themselves compared to the female gender, that's why we don't have a vast population of them gambling..
15  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do you find a new crypto casino? on: September 15, 2025, 06:16:44 PM
I’m genuinely interested in how players find good crypto casinos nowadays. I believe the google search results are pretty bad these days—for example, if you simply search “best crypto casino,” you’ll find that CoinCasino comes up as the top choice, which is a bit questionable. ( i strongly disagree, i think its some of the worst casinos )

So, is Bitcointalk still the best source, or are there other reliable places to find a good casino?
Bitcointalk has always been the best place to get hands on trusted reliable services. Casino that turns up to do their promotion has to meet up with bitcoin standards and follow the rules abiding the forum. We have seen how many users comes here to make complains about a particular casino, since it's easier to reach them through the forum.

You just have to ignore some information you get from Google search engine as not all are true. You might even get some casino reviews that looks very good, but we all know that these too can be manipulated. Some services buys fake reviews just so they can stay at the top when people search for the best. So just avoid them and use the forum instead..
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling vs doomscrolling on: September 15, 2025, 03:19:33 PM
Doomscrolling or doomsurfing is the act of spending an excessive amount of time reading large quantities of user-generated content or news, particularly negative news, on the web and social media

basically doomscrolling is aimlessly scrollig through social media without any real intentions. being on social media also generates dopamine which is the same happy hormone that gambling can give you. we both doomscroll or gamble when we are bored. what do you think is worse, gambling or doomscrolling?

is it healthy to engage in these two activities excessively?
I guess in our world today, the youths spend more time scrolling through social medias, watching or creating contents just for the fun of it. Some people do make money from same social media but it takes time and dedication to archive this. One thing is for sure, our sole aim is to have fun, so an individual is either gambling or spending time on the internet. Gambling on the other hand has it's disadvantages.

It's very risky, so if you are going to have fun through gambling, one has to be ready to take losses. Unlike social media, the only thing you have to do is just scroll through and watch important content or create something that shows your talents and if the public likes and appreciate it, you get paid by the social services themselves...
17  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin trading: profit or pressure cooker? on: September 15, 2025, 03:02:08 PM
Many people see Bitcoin as quick money but they is another side to it, the pressure attached every decision or move in the market and your heart begins to beat fast sometimes it goes up and you are happy then it dumps and you begin to panic. Their is profit and their is pressure too. Sometimes I wonder if am the only one feeling this mental stress when trading BTC. How do you guys handle the pressure? Do you guys HODL no matter what happens or you sell quick so as to avoid regret? Because the pressure is real.
Are you new into bitcoin? Sometimes you just have to ignore alot of noises in the market. Bitcoin is very volatile and if you must trade bitcoin or hodl, you have to build the kind of mindset of a winner, that way you don't end up making rash decisions that could lead to your losses. The market will always have time when it trends downwards. Many investors sees this and quicky sell off, only to find out that the sells was just a temporary retracement in the market.

This way, you have to choose which kind of bitcoin investor you want to be. If you are going to be a holder, your goal should be long term, you have to avoid monitoring Market all the time. For those into the short term trading, you should always be updated with all the happening in market...
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dirty bitcoin risk? on: September 15, 2025, 02:50:20 PM
This is not the first time this FUD is flying around, unless they are cooking another trend
It's obviously another FUD, but it is something that's worth remembering as bitcoiner. Every day we get new investors flooding the market and they should be aware of the dangers thats comes with buying dirty coins. As someone who really understands this, it would be smart to always purchase your bitcoin from trusted sources. Though we don't recommend buying from centralized platforms as that's against what bitcoin was created for, but in our world today, centralized platforms has more investors buying from them.

Avoid buying coins from unknown sources or sellers. Many people fall trap due to certain reduced rate and price. We don't want to get out selfs involved in anything that could compromise our investments..
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid buying Bitcoin from someone all because you know them. on: September 14, 2025, 05:12:49 PM
But the reason I do not like face to face sales of bitcoin is that it can lead to physical attack. We have read on different news about different people that were physically attack all because those that attacked them know that they have bitcoin. Attack can come from anywhere, even from someone that you will not expect.
I guess that would be the first reason that would come to my mind when I hear about people carrying out physical bitcoin transactions. Our safety should be the majority priority because the seller might obtain your money and send thugs to steal the coins again from you. So literally you become a target. The chances of buying illegal coins is still there, so more reasons we have to be careful aswell. The crypto space is filled with lots of evil that we might not be aware of. It takes luck for someone to be go scout free it's he falls victim of illegal or stolen funds, when he had no ideas about it.

But I guess in the cas of this guy, it would have been easier to print out whom he bought the coins from. Some how like an advantage to him. But we just have to be careful..
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Must you be noisy about your wins on: September 14, 2025, 04:56:39 PM
Now my question is must the whole world know when you win, when you were quietly staking the odds without winning, chasing losses at times, when the gambling days where very rough did you announce it, then why now that you have a big win people to enjoy, invest your future people must know about it,
If your friend was kind of an influencer or someone who has a betting channel or some kind of group where he called betting odds for people i would have considered this something inevitable. But he's not from the way you described, so he obviously just put him self in danger. One thing many people fail to understand about keeping your privacy is that it's not only going to put you at risk, but in grave danger.

Many people in your surroundings might have bad intentions against you. Not only you would be in danger, but your family or loved ones could also be in danger. It's a very easy thing to stay quiet but many people just prefer to be out spoken, which is a wrong way to live in the kind of society we are today..
