Mystery in the uncertainty of gambling and cashout. A friend of mine is regretting why he cash out his game that was supposed to give him a historical huge winning but he cash out halfway to avoid regrets which earned him little profits but at the end the games played all.
In my own experience, i was overconfident that my games would play successfully just after the teams I had my doubts on was able to win. So I take the rest few games common and hopefully to win easily but the games cut and I lost it all even while I had the opportunity for over 70% cash out.

Since last week this incident occured, my friend had been a complaint still feeling that chances he would had made it big win if not for his cash out.
So I am to ask, between me and my friend who is in position to feel this regrets regarded that I won nothing and he made some cash out ?

Different individuals have different ways they view cash out options, as well as different experience they have with cash out options, and you can't say for sure which is best and which is worst. I've experienced both of these scenarios and even if people would say it's better to lose some than to lose all, I've also experiences the pain and regrets that comes with cashing out peanut and the game later went or ended according to your predictions, and back then I would've sworn that cashing out had far worst experience and that it would've been better to just lose everything. Well, both scenarios are painful and one can't really say for sure which is more painful or who should complain more.

You have reasons to feel regretful and that’s already enough to feel that way. Your friend missed a big win even if he managed to to take some profit while you on the other hand lose everything while you have the opportunity to cashout.

Your case is just more painful because you lose everything including your bankroll.

The answer is simple and obvious: the perception of events by each gambler is extremely subjective. The case you described demonstrates this. The lucky one, who ended up in profit, is dissatisfied with the result due to the false idea that he could have won even more. The OP, who wanted to win more, ended up in loss. In both cases, we see regret. It seems to me that in gambling you need to be content with the result you have achieved. Your friend won, so you should be happy about it. The OP lost the entire bet - you should be happy that you didn't lose even more.

If I answer your question directly, then your friend, who ended up in profit, should definitely not feel regret, because his result is positive, and yours is negative.

Gambling is either you win or lose, so there is no need for someone to started blaming himself after taking a cash out. Because had it been your friend game cut at the end as your own he would have claimed a wise gambler. Gambling is a personal decision so we should always try by letting go any outcome that might comes out along the line and take correction to avoid making the same mistake next time. So I don't see any reason why you guys would feel regret in this case because each and everyone of you made a decision so you should just accept it in good faith.

This is the problem that majority of gamblers have, they are never satisfied with their profits, instead, they want more. OP, you had the opportunity to cashout but didn't because of overconfidence which is wrong because in gambling overconfidence lead to wrong decisions making which will finally lead to a big loss.

None of you guys both the OP and his friend should regret so that you don't end up gambling and this time doing it the opposite way because you might still run at loss and regret again. Why will your friend regret over the bet that he got little profit when other are losing their entire bankroll.

You are the person that's supposed to be complaining and feeling this way that your friend is doing. The fact that he got something and you didn't should have encouraged him. The money he cashed out I believed is far more than the money he used in staking the bet. I know it's painful but I believe the moment he made the cash out he was excited, so he should take what he got and stop complaining. The deed has already happened.

Honestly, both of you have reasons to feel some type of way, but in reality your friend is in the better spot, since he secured profit and avoided a total loss, while you risked it all and walked away with nothing. Regret usually feels heavier when you miss out on what could have been, but in gambling, the wisest move is often to lock in something instead of chasing everything. So between the two of you, your friend has less ground for regret.

Both of you would have some level of regret but your own level should be greater. Your friend was fortunate to go home with something, even if it would have been bigger. But in your case, you had the chance of cashing out and at least getting some benefit but you ended up losing all. There is no need to feel too bad because we should always take responsibility for our actions. There will always be another opportunity to make a decision.

If his confident was not well established in the game to all come as expected, then cashing out will always be the best decision to take, because better to cash out than lose the other opportunities of getting something still worth it form gambling, it has happened on several occasions to many, that they have the privilege to cash out but didn't, and before the end of it all, the entire ticket was rented to ruin and the missed the entire opportunity, its all about risk, at least, half a bread is still far better than none.

What if it went the other way, he would be happy now with the money he made instead of regretting his decision right? We can think hundreds of times efore making a move but once we done then just accept it even though we made small one instead of a huge win. He acted conservatively and chose to settle for small one in the half way because he didn't have the hope that he could win further so that's the point and no point in missing the chances and to happy about he made something which is better than nothing.

For me the one to feel regret is always the person who loses money and in such case it is you. I can understand that also your friend feel regret about why he cash out though nothing bad happened to him as he did not lose any money so the level of regret for him should be much lower compared to someone who loses all. I have been many cases in such situations though not in sport but in slot machines, I had managed to bring up considerably my initial balance but greed always got the best out of me and in the end despite having money I lost it all. For me this is the highest form of regret someone can feel when losing in gambling.

It seems to me that you should regret more than your friend, although it seems that your friend is regretting more because in terms of money, you are in a position to regret more. You might think, if I had gotten something like that or if I had cashed out 50% earlier, then maybe I wouldn't have lost more, but in terms of emotional pain, your friend is regretting more. He is thinking only one thing and that is, if I had not cashed out at that time, I would have won everything, now I would have the entire profit in my pocket.

Why do you ask for comparison when it's all about perception? a person could feel regret, while another person feel it's not.

According from your stories, it looks like both are regret with their own decision, but if we have to compare the both, you're the one who should to feel the regret because you earn nothing, while your friend still make some.

Realistically, even though your friend might’ve had the ‘chance of a lifetime’, he still walked away with something. You, on the other hand, took the full risk and ended up with nothing. At the end of the day, a small profit is better than a total loss. You both have reasons to feel regret, but financially he came out better.

Their is this saying that says a bird at hand is worth more than millions in the forest, I will prefer having that peanut first in my possession before looking up to something am not yet sure of, However everybody  with their different options in cashing out,  some  couldn't stand the fact that after cashing out the opposite of what they thought now happened it get them devastated and disappointed, while some other persons will just love cashing out the little they are sure of to avoid much stress.

If the op lost it all that was because he underrated the strength of the other team and he was pretty sure of hitting it big even when the opportunity of cashing out was there but funny enough his friend that cashout earlier was regretting his actions because he later sees it has a missed opportunity that would have changed his life. Therefore op is supposed to feel more bad because he lost everything.

I have had this experience not only with my friends but also with myself. I was very worried about a big bet after taking it. I had a situation where sometimes I felt like cashing out and sometimes I felt like holding. Sometimes the position of the bet would change so much that it was difficult to control my emotions. Later, I reduced the bet amount to reduce my risk. I cashed out and kept a small amount of money. I unexpectedly won that bet and because of the win, I had to suffer even more. If I had kept the entire bet money there, I would have won a big win.

I know that feeling, especially in trading I have a position but instead of waiting to fulfill it. I just cut it early to have a good secured profit, actually I've managed to train myself how to overcome it. I always say to my self "Before I made that decision, I really think about of it first." I weigh the pros and cons and I've come to that conclusion and if I ever traveled back in time and do the opposite of it, I'm sure that bet will be on lose as it's not really destined for me.
