Pretty crazy to think that almost no one outside of the altcoin section has even heard of BitcoinDark yet.

This is still only just the beginning, I'm excited for what is to come.

It's going to be awesome when all the tech comes together and we can start showing BitcoinDark off to the world.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: October 27, 2014, 06:40:33 PM
I've got my money on BitcoinDark.

It is the only coin on the list that will be used to conduct anonymous Bitcoin transactions.

The teleport feature will allow users to transport BTC from one address to another without leaving a trace.

Whilst I really want to support coins like BitcoinDark, because supporting new coins is good for the ecosystem, I still will never lose the feeling that supporting a coin like that is a bit like driving a carmaker called GeneralMotorsAudiToyota  Huh

I really like the name BitcoinDark and think it is very marketable to the average person.

It's a cryptocurrency that will be used to make bitcoin dark (anonymous) with its teleport feature.

But that's just like....my opinion, man.

Hmmm, wallet not syncing.  Is the configuration file in the OP correct?  Tried deleting everything and re-installing, but still doesn't seem to be working.

It started syncing as soon as I made the "d" in the Bitcoindark.conf file a lowercase.

Can the OP please be revised to read "Bitcoindark.conf" instead of the current "BitcoinDark.conf"?

Aptidude, this is a known issue. If you wait about 30 min with the wallet open, it'll connect to nodes automatically. My wallet running with BitcoinDark.conf file. No lowercase "d" need.

Sometimes, it just take some extra time to connect to other nodes. Otherwise, everything is fine.

Ah okay, thank you.  It must have just been a coincidence that my wallet started syncing right as I changed the file name.

lmao 30% spread

I tried to combat the whale dump by buying up ~9 btc worth.

Looks like the Bitcoindark Bearwhale just put up a 10,000 BTCD sell wall at .007!

I guess they still have more to dump.

How much BTCD could they possibly have?
that 10K wall at .007 is me

as soon as the whaledumper runs out, I dont want the price to just spike back up. Even though the drop was caused by just one guy, best to be more gradual. Also, the whale dumper refused to sell anymore, so maybe he is all out?

that was almost 3% of all BTCD (in an hour!) and more like 5% over the last few weeks. I can only think of a few people that have that much BTCD, well had that much.

so, this whole declining as I am making fantastic progress on the tech is explained!

James

Transferring 140 BTC to bittrex right now to foil your plan by spiking the price back up through your sell wall.   Wink  jk

I wonder if it is a noobwhale panic selling everything to get back into fiat.

more BTC being sent to bittrex for you, mr. whale
soon you can dump again, but it is a slow BTC block

James
there, another 10 BTC for the whale dumper

and another, so there is 20 more BTC for you
ok, so you have more to sell.
another 10 BTC there

Is it safe to say they are done dumping?  I can't imagine they would want to dump much more than this 30,000 BTCD when the tech hasn't even been released yet.

Let's say I have 5 BTCD addresses in my wallet.

All I need to backup my wallet is the 5 corresponding private keys then?

Does each change address have a private key as well?

Hi guys, I just wanted to post something about blocknet. I don't want to troll their thread, so I thought I'd post it here.

Here is their claim:

Code:
There are at least three fundamental differences between the Blocknet and Supernet:

- XBridge is not an RPC call protocol, it's a true P2P protocol
- There's no central or core currency, unlike SuperNET, which uses BTCD for this
- Joining the Blocknet does not involve 10% of a coin's money supply being bought and centrally controlled

1. SuperNET calls are made via rpc to the coin daemon, yet the network uses a kademlia dht, like bittorrent. Plus, is he saying that bitcoin is not 'true p2p' because it uses rpc calls? Does he think SuperNET has a point of centralization somewhere?

2. BitcoinDark is not 'the' central currency to SuperNET. Does he not realize that SuperNET runs on top of the NXT blockchain? BitcoinDark is the first coin with SuperNET integrated and has teleport, yes. Is he saying that individual coins cannot be integral parts of the network by offering their respective unique techs?

3. SuperNET purchased these coins on the open market, necessarily raising the NAV of the SuperNET asset.

Are the blocknet guys ignorant of the facts, or are they being intentionally misleading?

Hi folks

Just to say thanks for this post. It's insightful and we'll use it to reword our statements about SuperNET in comparison to the Blocknet.

Also, my apologies for how things were worded in the Blocknet OP. It was my writing and I see that I glossed over some details worth bringing out.

Finally, I have a lot of respect for the SuperNET. It's a fascinating idea, and although we're taking a different route (telehash v.3; mesh rather than DHT, etc.), that doesn't mean the SuperNET is a cheap trick.

Personally I'd love it if Supernet wallets contain the XBridge someday...

Good night

Synechist

I propose we put a stop to all the hating.  It's making SuperNET and Bitcoindark look like we fear Blocknet.  I'm working on releasing HOLYFUCKNET, this net will integrate all the other nets together into one big-ass net.

Teleport is referring specifically to funds: anon transfer. Telepathy is the whole system of anon communication.
I suppose it's a bit like the difference between 'give' and 'talk' (caveat simplification).

Okay that makes more sense. Thanks for the explanation.

People need to stop calling every criticism an attempt at FUD. Sorry to say it, but there are a lot of ass kissers around here. It's good to have some people take a step back and question things every now and then.

Good point.  Feedback from the community helps keep the ideas flowing and the team on track.

I could do more for the Bitcoindark and SuperNET communities beyond donating, but I've mostly just been on the sidelines watching, learning, and rooting.

Team BTCD FTW!

BTCD was released 3 months ago.

People need to chill out about short-term price.

Everyone freaks out and starts attacking the btcd team because some whale decided to dump 5000+ BTCD all at once on bittrex yesterday?  This short-term price swing was the work of 1 whale dumping, it's not the kickass btcd team's fault that some whale wanted to cash out a chunk of his/her holdings.

I (one person) could drive the price down below .004 temporarily today by dumping if I felt like it.  Would everyone freak out and start attacking team btcd if I did this?

The foundation that has been laid for btcd and supernet over a 3 month time period is very impressive so far.
