Do we still do the 'gentlemen' meme around these parts?

Cause if there is a time that's gentlemen, this is it.

Cheers everyone

I don't post here much anymore, but am a daily reader and long term bitcoin user. Just want to wish you guys the best, whether you own bitcoin, stocks or both; especially if you've invested large amounts in recent times, don't panic and make irrational decisions.

As someone who has seen many a bitcoin crash over the years, as many of you here have, things will definitely get better. I know quite a few here got in early can simply say "discount, buy more!' but for those who bought large amounts at $8000, $10000, $12000 etc and are continuing to hodl, I'm sure this is stressful.

Stay strong my bros, we will have our moment again no doubt in my mind!

Yesterday was quite gentleman. Always expecting the unexpected, but that was still a pleasant move up in such short time! Hopefully over 9000 holds from here on out. It's more enjoyable to keep up with this thread when we're all cheerful lol
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 18, 2019, 04:07:42 PM
Well this is a pleasant surprise. I figured we would drop a bit further or at least grind below 10k for awhile, but of course I should know by now that my optimistic or pessimistic outlook on the price will usually result in BTC doing the opposite.

We'll see if this holds us above 10k. G'day for now gents.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 26, 2019, 09:42:38 PM
Somehow it didn't feel as bad watching Bitcoin drop from 13700 to 11800 as it does from 220 to 160.  Odd Huh

I think we'll be ok.

I only post here every year or so during Bitcoins most exciting moments, this is one of them.

Weeeee
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 22, 2017, 02:00:43 AM
we have new ATH here

Best transaction FEE is

1005 Satoshis/byte | 0.01005 BTC/KB

for 1 kb lol, it is $ 160 fee.

Remember the days when Bitcoin had cheaper fees then visa and western union? I think that used to be a big selling point, the idea of banking for the unbanked or something like that... lol
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 22, 2017, 01:49:20 AM
I only spent $158 for a cup of coffee, it still works, bitcoin still works!!

Go bitcoin go!!

Seriously though, I sent a transation with a 420 sat/Byte 2.5 days ago, almost looked like it was going to go through until everyone started going higher damnit lol

Any news for the BTG? seems like ages for them to give back our BTG.

I got my share of BTG almost a month ago. And by got I mean 'not really got' cause it's stranded on the exchange along with about 6k in btc I can't withdraw.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 07, 2017, 03:13:26 PM
A bigger problem though is transaction clearing time, I just moved a bit to buy some equipment before end of year (tax deductible and I need this stuff) and it still hasn't confirmed.

If this keeps up I may have to use Litecoin.

Mempool is growing bigtime. Make sure to include a good fee for quick confirmation.

https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#24h

I have 2 fairly large transactions totally stuck - even though I put them through as 'fast' by believing my BTC Core wallet's advice.

Nothing confirmed for hours - what fees actually WORK right now - anyone recommend a site to suggest accurate fee requirements?

Feeling very stupid...

I use https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/

Looks like it's a heafty fee to get the job done quick

Sometimes I have the feeling people are writing without reading the previous comments  Huh  It's not all about the constantly failing verification process.
It's about people getting forced to do a enhanced verification for even 0.1 BTC! It's about changing withdrawel limits to 0 without giving
loyal customers a heads up or a date  when this will happen. On the other hand deposits are always unlimited!?
Foreign customers are forced to do a enhanced verification because BASIC only works but often fails for US customers.
Why is this ? BASIC should be open to anybody not only US customers.

By changing terms WITHOUT WARNING their customers they are STEALING funds and breaking law that's illegal in every country.
I don't trust them and I will not send them my ID, drivers license or anything else so my coins are STOLEN by them.
[/size]

I'm sure there has to be something in their original terms that states that terms are subject to change.  By creating an account, you would have agreed to those open ended terms.  They didn't steal your money.  You can get it if you choose to... you just choose not to.

KYC laws are everywhere you go nowadays.  You're not going to get away from them forever.  If you're a foreigner exchanging money on a US based exchange, you have to accept the fact that US laws regarding foreign investing, especially in something as gray of an area as crypto trading, are going to change and be enforced differently day to day.  You can adapt and accept it, or you can sit here and complain that your "coins were stolen".  If it were my money, I would buck up and get it off the exchange.  If you're a foreigner, and you aren't allowed to get it off the exchange because of US regulatory action of whatever kind, then you have a beef with the US financial regulations system, not Bittrex.

Either way... shit or get off the pot.  If you want your money, you'll find a way to get it without crying about it.  I was kind and polite to support, and they were the same to me and resolved my issue in under an hour.  I'd love to see what your original support ticket said.  Did you accuse them of stealing when you wrote to them?

-Fuse

Glad you had no issue. I've taken a similar route, I've only made 1 polite ticket so far and I feel I've been fairly patient considering the funds I have on this exchange and the 2+ weeks I've waited for a response of some sort. I've basic verified but it failed with my true identity. My issue right now is whether or not basic verification works for non U.S citizens at all (I'm Canadian, not from Eastern EUR/RUS/IRAN etc). If so, it should be clearly stated that citizens outside the U.S can only do Enhanced verification. I'm fine with verifying my identity, I'm just cautious about where those ID scan will go to in the future, government is probably better then turning up on a black market.

I also find it a little odd that trex doesn't block deposits and trading for non verified members if they don't want those people to use the exchange.

Out of curiosity, has anyone outside of the U.S been able to successfully verify with only the Basic Verification?
13  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: November 29, 2017, 03:54:53 AM

BITTREX give all LEGACY users the possibility to withdraw their funds until end of year. That would be perfectly fine for me

Perhaps this is what Bittrex is afraid of.

Everyone will take all their holdings (rightly so) and crash the exchange.

Conspiracy theory:  Bittrex may be illiquid and not have enough to cover all accounts?

Say it isn't so, Bittrex.

This might be an explanation. Doesn't make sense they still allow trading and depositing but not withdrawals.

It would be ethical to ban deposits and trading from unverified people, but why JUST withdrawals? I can still trade and gain funds but what's the point if I'm just making money for bittrex to keep. If I can't withdraw in a few weeks  I might as well make some terrible buys and leave my account with thousands in shitcoins.

Move to Poloniex and get away from this shitshow  Wink

Poloniex ain't the greatest either, but I'd get away if I could take my funds with me
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 28, 2017, 05:57:28 AM
I rarely post in this thread, but followed for years. Watching the price near 10,000usd (and around 13,000cad) is surreal.
The distance we've come since the days of 30,000btc walls on bitstamp and the NotLambchop posts (wonder what account name he uses now?)
15  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: November 28, 2017, 02:28:37 AM
Something doesn't make sense here,  Bittrex specified on their own website you should not use 'professional images' for verification. They want fresh selfies.
Yet now you are saying your good quality picture got approved quickly?

It was fresh.it has to be good quality otherwise jumlo will reject it

Glad to hear you were able to withdrawal.

I still have the option of doing the enhanced verification, but so far the basic verification has failed. Non U.S citizen so perhaps that's why, but if so that isn't stated anywhere on BITTREX. I'm just cautious about doing the enhanced as I'm unsure where that ID scan will end up. I'd be more trusting if my money wasn't currently held hostage by the same company. I'd like to get my withdrawal limit above 0 by doing a basic verification first.
16  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: November 27, 2017, 04:28:18 PM
I used to have a bittrex legacy account. Bittrex asked me to do basic verification and I did input some blah blah name.
Well, now my account status is suddenly 'new' (instead of 'legacy') and I can't withdraw any coins. And I can't I redo the basic verification process.
Would it be stupid to start an enhanced verification process? Because my name is different than the one I did input in the basic verification process. Or what should I do?

You should ask support to reset basic info. Otherwise you will not be able to pass EV automatically.

Nobody isn't answering me about resetting the basic info. Has anyone had any luck phoning Bittrex?

This is where I'm at as well. Basic verification failed instantly, maybe because I'm outside the U.S? (I entered my correct info but left off the unrequired info). I'm waiting for a response asking to have basic reset and I will enter the unrequired info with that hopefully working. I don't trust doing the EV with sensitive ID only to have it fail and be in the same position. I also don't need a 100BTC withdrawal. I simply want ONE withdrawal to get my funds off the exchange. Basic Verification will suffice.
17  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: November 26, 2017, 11:12:11 PM
I posted in another thread, but I'll do it here as well.
Add me to the list of people waiting for a support ticket to be answered to access their funds.

Been a Bittrex user since 2014, had 'legacy' account changed to 'new' with 0.025btc withdrawal. I would have been ok with that since I could still have some access (despite being gouged on fees). Then it lowered to 0.00btc. I basic verified and it failed after providing my legitimate info. I left off the unrequired info, but perhaps it's required (middle name/passport ID etc). I don't feel comfortable trusting Bittrex and a 3rd part with a scan of my ID for the enhanced verified, how am I supposed to know where that'll end up or be sold too? Not only that but I can't even be guaranteed it'll work.

Currently been waiting a week to get a solution, which is less then most of you so I probably have a couple weeks to go. I'd be happy with a one time withdrawal to get my remaining funds out. Thankfully I don't leave a large % on exchanges, as I've learned through the years with Mintpal and Crypsy, but it's still a BS situation.

Good luck to everyone waiting.

Edit: I will also mention I don't feel it's a scam. The warning was on the walls and it's on me for not withdrawing EVERYTHING. I'm just upset the basic verification failed compounded with the slow response time while holding peoples money hostage. I remain hopeful for a resonable solution.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex.com SCAM 100% on: November 24, 2017, 03:35:36 AM
This is just ridiculous, if you have any problems with account write to their support, but you will have to register to support desk first.
I had two issues so far, one of them with enhanced verification and they replied in timely and appropriate manner.

And I'm waiting for almost 40 days. Also they limited withdrawal from 0.025 to 0.

While I don't believe bittrex is a scam, I'm pretty disappointed with them right now.

I've used their service since 2014, likely providing them hundreds in fees (especially with a 0.001btc withdrawal fee..) and I've recently had my account (previously legacy) limited to 0.025 then 0.00btc withdrawal. I've tried the basic verification and it fails even though I have provided all my correct info. Opened a ticket and now playing the waiting game. All I ask is to be allowed to withdrawal my remaining funds and I'll be done. Seems pretty wrong to withhold from a long time user who added funds there years before verification became a thing.

I understand why they want verification and I'm ok doing so (Not happy about trusting a 3rd party with my identity though) but at least have it work, or respond with a solution in a reasonable time when it doesn't.

I do hope I'll be allowed to get my funds out, and the rest of you who have had issues.

Yea the bears get increasingly smaller stacks. Never forget:

Yeah, I remember going on bitstamp and watching that 30,000btc sell wall thinking wtf. Not sure how that would go over today...
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Community, BU or CORE, Time to Pull Together on: March 29, 2017, 02:48:50 AM
Everything forks eventually; religions, governments, species,...etc. Conflict is natural and could force innovation. Choose a side and embrace it because there's little choice left.
What exactly do u mean by " There's little choice left."

His post is a bit of an oxymoron... I think he means choose a side, but the probability of choosing left is minimal, a.k.a we are forking to the right!

In all seriousness though, in a perfect world the idea is great. Sadly humans are not often capable of putting aside differences once they are entrenched in their ideas, at least not until there is some negotiating at a higher level. If core and unlimited developers got together and hashed out ideas starting from a middle ground and discussing solutions to problems they disagree on, we might have progress. If bitcoin is to become more than just a storage of wealth or a means to move large sums of money there will need to be some conclusion to the current debate.
