Whales pushing price down  Sad

I would disagree. 10 or more BTC does not make a whale.  As much as I believe in Viacoin's promise I'm not oblivious that most people in altcoins are traders looking for action.  The community has lost its vibe and there are certainly a lot of people eagerly awaiting announcements.  When those don't come people cut loose and try to chase other movers.

It's a cycle...people will plow back in once there is some action to get in on.  The trouble with this coin is that it is hard to get them on the rise and so you probably aren't going to get a good entry back in.

I'm glad the bitcoin infrastructure is building out and that more people are becoming aware of crypto, but I'm so so frustrated by the slow confirmations of bitcoin...from coinbase, to circle (just signed up), to an issue I had with an overstock.com purchase, it's awful.  Each of these platforms bake in about an hour which you have to wait through until you can proceed with your transfer.  In a world where consumers expect transactions to be instant, bitcoin just isn't going to cut it.

Viacoin offers so much potential improvement, and when you throw in ClearingHouse, there is no comparison.  Looking forward to the continued, solid progression the development team is delivering on.

Calm down people. Made 10 btc profit flipping Cloak, i don't see the issue here. The key is not to hold but to flip.
I suggest you use a trading bot like i do, makes thing's easier and smooth.
Set  STOP Price/START PRiCE and STOP VOLUME/START VOLUME thank me later. Smiley repeat as necessary

Which bot do you use?

I'm going to devote a few hours tomorrow to providing some roadmap and milestones, and let you all know what has been going on behind the scenes. There's a lot to cover.

Appreciate it, as well as your willingness to be open to outside input.  There is definitely a lot of relaxed confidence on this thread but it is good to get all level set with status and where we are going.  To the extent we as a community are better able to articulate how VIA and XCH are advantageous to other alternatives (some of which are getting a ton of funding), its current use cases, and where it is headed, the better we will be able to spread  the brand and ensure it wins out in the end.

Glad to see you've empowered masternode to help with some communications.  He has built some solid credibility with his posting and long-term views and experiences.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: August 27, 2014, 12:02:22 PM
more than more invester lost their patience on VIA...Because there is nothing achievement or progress from the VIA DEV team!!!

Well maybe not seen, and I agree that communication can (and will be improved).

Would love to hear your suggestions.

I can't say I've been connected to the alt markets lately.  It is very quiet overall and the lower volumes bore the active traders looking for action.  I bet that is where a lot of the dumps have come from.  Regardless, there just seems to be very little Viacoin presence on the scene.  No one doubts that it is a solid contender for a top coin, but it just sort of stops there.  In the beginning there was a story and a vision, but it just seems as though that has gotten clouded a bit.

Do it your own way if you choose to, but some actual marketing would be great to see.  There is consolidation going on...people are tired of shitcoins and are trying to see who might remain.  You've got to fight to stay relevant in this defining stage...too much is at stake.  Even established billion dollar companies advertise just to remind people they are there and to keep the brand out front.  Nothing wrong with it.  Substantively I'd like to see a roadmap (yes) of near-term goals, ECDs, maybe a weekly or bi-weekly blog-post of some accomplishments/challenges/apps in work, etc., some further color as to what kind of big players are seeking out Viacoin and why?  Are you considering anything?  It may be premature to discuss, especially if you've entered into a confidentiality agreement, but surely there are some things you can share.

I was involved with Cloakcoin early on, never expected it to go as high as it did.  Though I think they went too far in communications, I never felt like they were not busting their asses every day and trying to deliver on the next goal.  Even with the giant set-backs recently they've been very transparent.  Again, I think they go too far and seem to want to satisfy every investor thirst for information, but there has to be a balance.

btcdrak,

I too am confused about the burn process.  A "how-to" video similar to the one you posted for the Viacoin ICO would be very helpful.

Also, is there a # regarding total supply of XCH?  Or is it unlimited during the 45 day period (in relation to VIA in supply), at which point no more can be burned from then on?

Thx

... massive btc profit which in the end is all that matters

I believe Bitcoin profit is what matters ONLY if bitcoin prevails in the long run.

The way I see it, Bitcoin has a first mover advantage and market awareness, but it is flexible as a distinct dinosaur. In the past 2 years I have seen no real innovation to the protocol, and hardly any applications built on top of the protocol.
In the past 6-months, i've seen magnitudes of innovation in other alts, whereas Bitcoin's development came from market acceptance, but not technological/application innovation.

I've seen the same thing in usenets in the early 90s. If you don't innovate, you will be left behind.
Microsoft, the undisputed king of software learned it the hard way.
Nokia, the undisputed king of Mobile learned it the hard way.

Bitcoin is not immune, and Blockchain 2.0 can leave Bitcoin a conglomerate of the past.

I do not know BTCdrak, but I know he is a very smart guy. I follow his posts.
Nonetheless, if BTCdrak had said that he is going to develop ClearingHouse by himself, ground-up, I would not have invested as this seems a heck of a task.
IMHO, the fact that he is going to integrate a proven architecture as CounterParty to be the foundation of ClearingHouse makes the project much more viable, secure, fast, and reliable.

Then again, only 4 days have past from the Viacoin launch. I can't expect him to deliver THAT QUICKLY...

My 2cents.

Well said, completely agree. I admire the dev's ability to execute what he has so far, but there are also valid comments regarding the current state of altcoins, the number of scams, how quickly things move, etc.

In the end, I would encourage the dev to consider sharing the load. He did update as to how people have reached out to help with development, and others in the community are stepping up to do what they can. But honestly, a CEO should not be worrying about an RSS feed. Delegate these and other minor things, necessary to the bigger picture, but not worth his time. A maestro doesn't make the music all on his own but he makes it happen nonetheless.

I know, just a couple days in. Relax, I got it and I agree, see my prior posts. Just would encourage dev to shift focus a bit. I've been there. I've got some products licensed and headed to stores nationwide. It was a very hard thing to do though because I was originally moving forward with the products as my own business. In the end, it is a much better path forward for me that license but it was hard letting go of my baby, I was very protective of it as I had invested so many hours and a lot of money.

That's how I relate at least. Great job so far.

Good morning! Slept like a baby but I bet some people had a frantic night.

Looks like the wallet thing is sorted out, all's good there.

Hopefully many of you didn't get flushed out.  IMO looks like we've had a whale or two swimming around since the 30k's, setting up an operation and accumulating coins.  VIA is a prime target.  Solid coin, high volume, and prospective news that people will want to buy into so that the whale(s) can later unload these easily acquired coins at much higher prices.  Don't be surprised to see this puppy get manipulated further.  At some point he will have made what we wanted and swim along, just don't play his games unless you are smarter and have more resources...which you probably don't.  Smiley

New account, new poster.  This is developing to be a great, supportive community and I just feel like joining in a little and offering my perspective.

masternode hit on some of the same sentiments I have.  I'm told in the mid-80's, when I was a kid, my parents put some of my savings into Wal-Mart stock.  They sold after some profit and all was well.  I wish I had that stock back.  I used to day and swing trade.  I remember the day Google went public.  I played it, the volume and swings were a blast.  I booked some profit and happily went on looking for new action.  I wish I had that stock and initial entry point back.

I've been trading altcoins and have done well.  Like many I suspect, I've grown quite tired of the repeat scamcoins that offer no innovation.  Anon was interesting but in the end, I don't care...it is not necessary for 99% of what this industry is prepping for.  It's a free market though...devs can put scamcoins out there and we can give them our attention, or stop we can doing that.

I got into VIA at the ICO stage.  I haven't sold one and unless the dev gets hit by a bus and goes silent, I don't plan to.  It's a pleasure to not be glued to the screen, fearful of the slightest pivot that could blow a trade up.  I'm investing here and see this as a viable, highly successful platform.  VIA and Clearinghouse, as proposed, fill a serious need in this nascent industry.

Don't be like me many years ago.  It sucks to say "I wish I never sold", when you see what is possible now.  This could be one of those rare opportunities in life where you saw an opportunity and executed on it.  Don't you wish you bought and held BTC when it was just a couple dollars each?  If you have read Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, based on the legendary trader, Jesse Livermore, you know that once he understood the big money was made when he positioned himself for the long view, that is when he finally hit real and lasting success.  Consider taking a long view.  In this instant gratification world that is hard for us.  But start small, try to refrain from out-smarting the market movement for 12 hours, then another 12 hours, and then 24, and so on.  It's hard.  I put quite a bit in so far, and with how my account is sitting now, each .0000100 movement either way equals a lot.  Hard to not recognize that.

Just my perspective.  Do what you will, of course.

As I first related, I never got involved in crypto-communities before.  I generally lurk and read BTC posts and twitter.  To the extent I can contribute to VIA in a positive way, I want to.  I've got my cute little rig hashing away.  In the way of technical skills however, I have few.  I think we can all contribute though by just being helpful to one another, and being a class-act like btcdrak has been.  He has been very transparent and forthright, and his foresight, strategy, and execution of this project to date are beyond impressive.  And have you all noticed that all but a few of the ICO BTC are still where he put them?  Same goes with the whale often referred.  Follow his lead.  I could be wrong (couple dots to connect) about who the whale is but if I'm right then he has done more for this industry than most, and to have his buy-in, at least in a monetary fashion at this stage, speaks volumes.

There are more things to come.  I can't wait for Clearinghouse and other deliverables, but I can be patient.

btcdrak: If there is anything I can help with, please reach out.  Other than what I mention above, the best I can offer are transactional legal skills.  Not very relevant at this point perhaps but it's a resource at the ready if you need it.

Have a good day all, I'm gonna get back to some yard-work.

A valid perspective from where Im sitting. Thankyou Smiley

How's the yard?

It's coming along, thanks. Got some honeysuckle and trumpet vine today from the river that I'm gonna get started when it cools off.  You can live like a king in the heartland, let me tell you.

Does anyone have thoughts about what the dev should do if several million VIA get hacked and stolen from an exchange?  I think it's a valid question as we look forward.  Some debate needs to happen.

I don't pretend to know all the angles.  I know what happened with VRC was unique since the hacker stood in a position to wreck the entire infrastructure they built, but it shines a light on VRC's vulnerability.  I would have lost all of my VRC if they didn't do the fork, but hey, this is a very high risk place to be, and we are at an early stage.

I don't think they should have done it though.  New coins that overcome deficiencies of previous coins should win out in the end.  This is an evolution, just because something exists doesn't mean it is entitled to remain.

This thing getting dumped! Glad I didn't go all in, I knew it was way too early!
Good luck for the future

If there was ever an opportunity to get in it was then imho people just trying to instill a shakeout to fill up their bags and like always seems to be working people always act like sheep.

Agreed. From personal experience, whenever I tried to play a pull-back with a good coin or stock, thinking I'd be able to load up with more coins/shares, I often got burned.  Don't lose your position.

I tend to think whoever is dumping are merely day-traders that joined the party when seeing the volume, and now that volume is decreasing they are moving on to the next trending, high-volume, volatile ipo/launched coin.

Yeah, reminds me actually of CLOAK.  Took some time for the traders to do their thing and for coins to change hands, then it rocketed.
