When you play Star Craft 2 -  you send your harvesters to harvest, they return to base and cash in, then they automatically go back to the harvest area..
Other units auto attack approaching enemies.

Is that a bot game?

What is needed is for everyone to have the above abilities - you can use BGB's harvesting bots for havesting, or use Domob's python framework..

or - pay someone to make something for you if you can't do it yourself..

otherwise - wait until more stuff is released, e.g. by BGB or Mithrilman or whomever

as BGb said, you can play as a human now - although the slowness means some automated stuff is definitely a good advantage Smiley

The basic point is that people can and do automate the huc mining using bots. There is not an interest among the developers to keep it a human mined coin.

You can argue back and forth etc but basically if bots are encouraged then the market cap is limited and the coin is not a good investment. It may be fun to play but allowing and encouraging bots means it is meant to profit a smaller group.

You are wrong. Currently there are more than 95% of the coins on map are mined by hand, not by bots. But the price is only 1/4 or 1/5 of the price of June, when the bot mine more coins than human. As I know, some people with powerful bots have not sell their coins, because the cost of dev bots is far more higher than price of coin.

Whenever the blockchain format changed, versions were definitely bumped - this is actually one of the few places where it is necessary to do just that, and where the version actually counts (apart from your client finding out what the user is running).  I'll try to increment the version whenever something "relatively big" changes, but I won't do it for each and every merged pull request.  (Basically the "development version".)

I wasn't asking to to that for the developer version, but for official releases (so instead of a letter that goes nowhere)
When you are copying and pasting files over disks and different pc and you don't have a way to know what you are running, this IS a problem.

e.g:
does this version handle pruning nameindex?
does this version has the modified name_clean?
etc...
and get worse when you try to restore a downloaded blockchain on pc and you copy and past qt/daemon files just to discover that the version you ran was wrong and get runaway exceptions... and have to start over again, well, imagine the "feeling"

not everyone has the last version on their pc, compile on that pc, etc..., must think about the target of this coin/game: average pc users

what's the meaning of putting letter next to version, if that letter can't be seen anywhere?

ultimately I disagree about your post, but can deal with it (personally i faced the blockchain problem maybe twice but not a big issue for me)
anyway if even other people ask about it maybe it's something to think about (there aren't so much releases to get gray hair to change version imho)
You are all discussing the problem that is not important and not urgent. I think domob is busy pruning block chain and debugging pending problem, the tiny problem of version definition should not disturb him.

double spending?
It is the wallet stuck of spending(sometimes shows "spending rejected"), not double spending of the whole system.

have you tried name_clean?

the double-spend btw, this isn't some hack that allows people to spend coins twice, as it may sound. Some people have hunters which get stuck..
If you get the pending problem, use name_clean

none of the patches make a difference to the pending problem - you need to manually attempt to fix with name_clean.

give us feedback - this patch has been out for a long time and not one person has said whether it works or not

If it works, Domob can allow it to run automatically.

I  have tried name_clean( return true after command), but pending still exists. I have uploaded some wallets stuck of pending to domob, he will check them.

About bots starting when disaster happens.. we already thought and said that would happen before we implemented it (written on forum somewhere).
It's an issue, but I think it's not as bad as it seems. In reality they can only guarantee get the easy coins in their own quadrant. The rest is up for grabs if you have enough and can attack.
Open to ideas..
One solution was that you maybe spawn in random locations for the next X blocks after disaster -- it may make the easy coins harder to get (if you start on the opposide side of your normal spawn area for 100 blocks?)..  not sure if a good idea - needs more thought.

Agree.  Actually more than 90% coins on map are captured by human, not by bots. But the price still not rise even human dominate the map. I think the price has no relation to how many coins are captured by human compared to bots.  And open bot library has released by dev team, every one can use it. But if you want a more powerful bot, you need to write many lines of algorithm, which is more hard work than playing this game by hand.  
The price of HUC is related to difficulty of playing(more players leads to more competing and difficulty), application, and capital investment. Now the pruning of nameindexfull.dat has worked successfully, the pruning of block chain is on the way.  If the pruning and wallet stuck of pending are solved(still not solved in 1.011g), there will be more players in this game.

No I'm talking about before the disaster, most of my guys were  not far from home then disaster hit..  The bots then scooped up their coins after they died.   Like I said I dont care about that cause I'm way ahead, but if it was my first time playing and I just invested to create these characters I probably wouldn't be happy.  Just dont think the disaster in its current form really does anything positive for humans.
It's not worthy of remembering little coins lost in disaster in several days. You can  hold  more than 10 pools if you have time, which can produce nearly 500-1000 coins for one day, that is advantage of human over bots.

I have much effect after I use command prune_nameindex. When I run "prune_nameindex 4000" for several minutes, the size of nameindexfull.dat  becomes only 4M, which is really wonderful!  At first I think that the reducing of size of nameindexfull.dat is automatically done after I run 1.011g version.

in the middle there are big coins but FEW, while on the rest of the map there are breadcrumb often > 50 hucs and are easily collectable if you arrive first, i don't get why you are defending that bot advantage..
The bots can only get coins in pools near home. If bots enter into big pools, all will be killed by followed characters in narrow entrance. After disaster, you can see more than 80% coins are far from home. The comparison of bgb and other characters after 2 hours can not uncover the fact: The task of followed characters is to block the entrance, killing  any bots coming into big pools when bots return home, then they can collect all at any time.  

There are alot of coins dropped near home. Having a few block advantage will net bgb a nice loot of coins and in a safe manner.  
That will make bgb get more 200 HUCs to 300 HUCs, I just say this number is so small.

Just a quick count of a couple of his RED players shows he has way more than that already and he isn't done.

P.S. - Not hating you BGB you are just playing by the rules.
I'm not BGB.  Actually after new rules of creating one general with 10 HUCs, the bots are totally suppressed. Then price will rise after bots are weakened? NO, the price is lower and lower.  Maybe the balance of bots and human will helping to activate game.

i find it very unbalanced that the QT client doesn't have that feature because it give so much advantage to bots... unfair doesn't respect at full the feeling

I can not see such advantages of bots has much value, just attain more hundreds of HUCs in a cycle of disaster. But the monopoly of map of few people, attain more than 2000 HUCs each day for each people, wiping out any new player who wants to mining in big pool, making this game less active.

bot created with such advantage are at least 4 blocks ahead, this mean that they can collect all before human players
and when i say all, after this disaster this mean ~45k hucs of coins on the map (of course central one are harder to mine and go back)


about the monopoly, they aren't gods, the are just very addicted to the game, many hours in front of the monitor, you just need to organize a clan and fight them, this is what the game would need, competition (imho)

BlockChain Pruning is worth looking forward.
The command "prune_nameindex numberOfDepthReserved" should be used to prune nameindexfull.dat. The argument should be lager than the gap between current block and last block of disaster.

You are totally not familiar with the characters on map. More than 90% of characters are created by few people playing this game by hand, not by bot.

This is a very good idea of balance of space(amount of coin). Another balance of time is to limit the showing time of coin. For example, if a coin has not been picked up in 30 minutes, then the coin will disappear and randomly display in other pools. This mechanism will largely activate the game. Now some people united to divide map into different parts, and sleep for 2 hours after 1 hour of game. When they wake up, the pool are full of coins, then they collect all(I guess that if someone acts as a hardcore player for long time, he will become machine,OMG). This maybe  the reason why the price of HUC is so slow and  many players leave it.

anyway facts are that now those problems are recognized by devs team, but since they aren't hardcore gamers (or at least domob isn't) they have difficult to reproduct those problems, and what snailbrain is asking is some help in testing the just released fixes
 

Yes, this is the reason why the wallet sill has some annoying problems after many updates. The double spending of wallet is still not solved in 1.011f version. If we create a new wallet and run for 4 or 7 days, then the showing of balance will be more and more larger than real balance, which leads to stuck of any command.

I bought a small amount of Huntercoin and have a few questions.

The coin seems to be very cheap and I'm trying to figure out what negative factors may be influencing the price, and whether those factors will change.

The worst thing that I have noticed is the premine. 0.2% I believe. Many people will not buy premine coins and this is the first coin I've bought knowing beforehand there was a premine albeit a small one. Has the dev considered donating the premine to some charity or destroying it, then subsisting only on donations and/or some tax incorporated into the game?

I am not a gamer but I'm curious how popular the game itself is. Are there accurate stats? When I look at the map on the website there are four color rows and a 'generals' and 'all players' column. Is the 'all players' column all people registered? Or all people online? Or something else?

Are there plans to introduce other games that would appeal to another slice of that market?

How many people are involved peripherally with the coin's development? Is it mostly a one man show or is a fair amount of work done by others? In other words is the coin entirely dependent on one person or would it survive easily if the main dev quit?

Maybe there are less than 10 people in this game. 90% of characters are created by 4 or 5 people, they united to divide map into  several parts(not compete with each other), so the main coin is easily got. This is the reason why the price is so slow.

Do you mean with "the modification" above the maximum carrying capacity or the "double spending" thing you call very urgent later on?  I fully understand and agree that the latter is important - it is actually my next todo.  If you want to help, please take a look at https://github.com/chronokings/huntercoin/issues/72 and give some feedback to the proposals.  Also, if you have a stuck wallet for me to look at, it would help me, too.  (I can reproduce a stuck issue, but it seems that it is not precisely what others are seeing - in my case, manually deleting all pending transactions from a wallet makes it "good" again.  MithrilMan wrote that this is not the case for this issue.)

Regarding the carrying capacity:  Sounds like an interesting idea for me and I could easily implement it - but I think we should discuss it more thoroughly before changing the game mechanics.  Also, I usually like to give snailbrain the "lead" in game mechanics. Wink

Thanks for domob's  great work, sorry for my misunderstanding and improper words.   The carrying capacity need to be discussed thoroughly, it is not urgent.  Another method to solve carrying capacity is that: when the character carry more coins, it's moving speed will become slower,which is  similar to real world, you will walk slower when you carry more things. All modifications of game mechanics have only one aim:balance.
The problem of double spending is very urgent. As I know, many old players can not  stand up for the wallet rescan when there is double spending in wallet again and again, then they have to leave.  if the problem of double spending is solved, BGB will come back, many old players will come back, that will be alive again.

So noone thinks limiting how many coins a player can hold is a good idea?  I'm not a gamer, but when I used to be there was always a limit before I had to deposit in the "bank".

I was thinking around 100.  Make the big guys in the middle come back to the wallet more often.  Give others a chance to steal their coins more often.  I think it could balance things a bit more. 

I realize its not top priority, but maybe something to talk about more once other bugs etc are sorted out.
You are right. Although the modification is very easy, but the dev team can not see it's importance. The bot lib is important, but it is not necessary and urgent. The pruning is also not urgent. But the problem of double spending of wallet is very very urgent to be processed. They work hard here and there, but not hit the key problem.
