To mocacinno:
Yes, you understand what I am asking. The double wallet idea sounds very good to me to preserve privacy. And I'm guessing that 'anonimization' is the same as 'whirlpooling?' I'm also thinking that Monero would come in handy when accepting donations too. Opinions? Thanks for your explanation, mocacinno.

Well, the technique you mentioned is one of the ways to anonimise your funds... There are many others like it, but bitcointalk might not be the right place to go into that topic, since one of the most popular forms of anonimisation was banned from bitcointalk quite recently.
Personally, when it comes to donations, i like to give people options, and monero is defenately a good option when it comes to privacy. But i also think that if you limit your donations to monero, you'll probably miss out (since not all people will hold monero, and most people won't exchange BTC for XMR just to donate).

PS, you probably get way less opinions on this thread because it has been made in off-topic, whilst it had an equally good place in the "Bitcoin Discussion" subforum. You could ask a moderator if he can move your topic if you want other people's opinions aswell.

I hadn't thought about that, regarding Monero. You are absolutely right. Moving on, I just heard about Phoenix Wallet's response to what happened to Samurai Wallet creators. That is pure harassment. I've also learned about Ledger's dubious past and its affect on potential hardware sales. Also, most of the Testnet sites seem unresponsive and a waste of time.

Thanks for your help thus far with the questions that I have asked. I probably won't be posting here much after this. It's too complicated for new users. Have a good day friend.

To STINKYBEE, that's definitely something I should look at. I didn't know that KYC exchanges were so transparent. That's kinda the opposite of privacy, eh? I'm thinking that maybe I can keep KYC donations in a separate wallet AWAY FROM my non-KYC donations. Thanks.
But can you give us at least a brief reason why you need to do that? are you into something to hide from the government? sorry because just now that i have heard this kind of stuff in which we are talking about donation here and for me we should be thankful to that donor no matter where they get the funds because you have received that in your wallet so if those are from crimes/hacking then you need to explain that to the authority no matter what.

No, I'm not doing anything wrong or illegal. I simply don't trust that my government, the same one inflating my dollar, has my best interests at heart. I don't want any government telling me how, when, and where to spend my money or currency. If I want to buy a 'Snickers' bar or a loaf of bread, or a gallon of gas, then that's MY business, not the government's. I don't trust banks either now that they are closing accounts based on adherence to their corporate ideology.

You don't have to answer my question, but I am a firm supporter of Bitcoin and understand what it affords me. I will navigate these bitcoin softwares as best I can. Good day.

Hello, I'm learning. Be nice.
I just moved this question here...

In the privacy realm…
It is said that KYC UTXOs and non-KYC UTXOs should not be consolidated. What does that mean? Does it mean that the two UTXOs should not be combined? Or does it mean we should not save it in the same hardware wallet?
I'm still trying to sort this all out. I have Ledger and Sparrow. I'm catching on.

If anyone cares to respond?

Thanks.

Hello. For some reason I'm really not sure if I already know the answer or not. Still learning.

If I am receiving some small bitcoin donations - 15,000 to 35,000 sats per donation, then how do I know if that donation is from a KYC exchange or a non-KYC exchange?

Does the answer depend on the address of the sender?

I'm still a bit confused about this. I don't want to mix up my KYC and non-KYC coins.

Thanks

When I first started buying bitcoin , the only way I could figure out how to preserve my privacy was by using a bitcoin ATM (no ID required).

I was advised (in videos) that I should 'test' the machine by making a small bitcoin purchase to make sure that it was functioning properly before making my intended larger purchase (buy).

Well, that was bad advice because I learned that every transaction that I made, large or small, generated a UTXO, even the test transactions. I also learned that too many small UTXOs is not a good thing especially when discussing mining fees (network fees).

Also, videos that I have seen that discuss DCA (dollar cost averaging) never mention the fact that every one of your weekly or monthly purchases generates a UTXO. So, imagine someone who has been buying bitcoin once a month for a year or even each week for a year. Do you see how many UTXOs can add up in a wallet? The huge cost to consolidated those UTXOs?

Am I missing something? There seems to be a lot of misinformation out there about purchasing as related to UTXOs because up until 3 weeks ago, I had never heard of a UTXO. I've been buying for two years now.

Comments?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not taking profits at the moment. I am 'hodling' because I expect the Bitcoin unit price to increase quite a bit. But at the same time, I don't want to acquire more bitcoin at this high price because if the unit price eventually falls below the price that I paid for it, then this higher price purchase will start to detract from my profits. I don't want that at this point. I would prefer to take profit in something stronger than the failing US currency. Just saying. You can comment if you like. Thanks

Hello. Let's say that I own .25 bitcoin (1/4 slice). I bought it at a low price US$16,000. The price rises to US$64,000. I want to take a portion of my profit, say US$100.00 for example. Question: Does my slice reduce after taking the US$100.00 profit or does it remain at .25 ?
