1  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bit-lottery | PVP lottery on: September 22, 2014, 11:27:33 AM
Apart from the trust issue coinnewbit mentioned, there is another problem I can think of.

Each round needs 2 player at least to start waiting on the next block.
After a round has started people can buy tickets for that round till next block is found and then the round stops and picks a winner.

It may be hard to have at least 2 players in each round as a block is found in just 10 minutes on average, unless you have a large number of active frequent players.

I might be able to answer that :

As for the trust issue : The system gives a random ticket number whenever a user purchase a ticket.
You can see the ticket number here in real time : https://www.bit-lottery.com/stats.php
Only when 2 players are in, the system picks the closest number to the next last 5 block hash numbers. So basically, there is now way to say who is going to win before the next block gets found. Not only that, but anyone can easily take a screenshot of the tickets numbers, and compare it to the hash. In other words, there is not really a way to cheat the system without everyone seeing it...

For the round time issue : yes, that is our goal : Get regular players. But : the round does not start unless two players are in. Meaning, Once a player gets a ticket for a round, he simply waits for any other player to get in and starts the round. So the round time is not really an issue there. Think of it as a 1v1 pvp game. One player starts the game, and waits for a challenger to come in. The only difference is : May be more players would come in. But, as a 1v1 too, there is always a winner.

For the small story :
That was my first post : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=760498.msg8687430#msg8687430
I needed help to find a system that would be 100 % transparent and provably fair. But the big issue people had with this first idea, was the TX fees. Paying 10 % in tx fees to get a ticket would discourage most people, that's why we decided to go with user accounts / wallets. Since i also sucked at PR and marketing, Reynaldo accepted to partner with me and take that side in charge.

Hope i answered your questions.

3  Economy / Service Discussion / How to promote / launch my website ? Interested in a partnership ? on: September 09, 2014, 06:02:20 PM
Hello everyone,

I come here as i would need some advises / lessons , may be even a partner ?
Basically, i just finished this website : bit-lottery.com ( you'll find all the description on this thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=760481.0 ) .

This is my first website, and i have no clue whatsoever how to launch it...

Truth is, i do not even know if the idea is good, as people seems to not be really interested in it.

But, i'll never know until i try, right ?

So, if anyone could give me some directions ? Or if anyone would like to be my partner in that ?

Thanks !
4  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] BIT-LOTTERY.com - 1/10 CHANCE TO WIN - IRPF - WIN UP TO 1 BTC on: September 09, 2014, 01:18:15 AM
I bet this would be popular if you added support for microwallet and made another lottery for smaller/larger prizes.

For example 1,000 could pay .0001 to win .099 which is an achievable amount to make from faucets and/or paid to click sites.

Alternatively 100 could enter for 0.0001 to win 0.099 or something

Since support for microwallet within the bitcoin gambling scene is pretty much nonexistent you'd control the market.

Alright, i'll bite !

But, i admit i am ignorant when it comes to "microwallet" concept ? Could you give me an example of what it would be ? How would it be different from a " normal " wallet ?
Also, the issue i have right now with smaller prices are the TX fees ... Why would anyone get a ticket for less than the TXfee itself ?
Nevertheless, you are right when you say " this WOULD be popular" : to be honest, i was expecting that more people try it... I am starting to feel like i should not even bother launching any ad campaign...Truth is, i am not sure what to do with that thing. May be i should start to look into an signature campaign, but even that... not sure thing of anything right now...
5  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] BIT-LOTTERY.com - 1/10 CHANCE TO WIN - IRPF - WIN UP TO 1 BTC on: September 08, 2014, 07:54:51 PM
UPDATE :
ADDED THE 1/100 AND THE 1/1000, WIN UP TO 1 BTC:
Following the system as the 1/10, i have added the 1/100 and the 1/1000. Players can now win up to 1 Bitcoin !
As usual, any feedback would be appreciated. I will pay 1 ticket in the 1/10 to anyone giving me constructive feedback on the system, not the design.
I am going to focus again on polishing the design now.
6  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] BIT-LOTTERY.com - NEED 10 PEOPLE, WIN 0.09 BTC FOR FREE on: September 07, 2014, 02:55:17 AM
Hey Guys, Thanks for your feedback ! it is encouraging  !

Now, i made an update that i think everybody is going to like.

The 1/10 Draw is now INSTANT.
Basically, the system does not wait for 10 tickets to be in. Instead, it checks with the TXID and the Block hash.

As an example :
You buy your ticket, send your payment: the system gets the transaction ID.
As soon as it gets confirmed once, your ticket gets in the queue.
Now, the system waits for the next block to be found. As soon as that happens, It takes the last number of the TXID, and the last number of the block hash.
If they matches : Your ticket wins, payment is sent.

That basically gives the same odds : 1/10 chances to win. But it is now "almost instant" . The wait time is between your txid gets confirmed once, and the next block to be found.
That also gives a 2 blocks advance.

I am going to display the last 10 tickets draw on the same page : http://www.bit-lottery.com/1-10.php

Now... i would like to test the payment... I am pretty sure it is working as it is the same as before... But i'd prefer to be 150 % it is working properly... But i keep losing !! I guess i'll just keep trying until i win, haha .

Again , any feedback would be appreciated !

PS: If that works well and i see that people starts playing. I will make a 1/100 chance to win, but 100 times the amount to win. I am not btc rich unfortunatly, so i have to wait for the system to get some BTC rolling in. Hopefully i won't have 10 winners in a row that will dry up the wallet :-)
7  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] BIT-LOTTERY.com - NEED 10 PEOPLE, WIN 0.09 BTC FOR FREE on: September 05, 2014, 07:20:35 PM
Thanks!!! I am so happy I won  Grin

Glad for you you !

Hey people : I have no idea what the price of the ticket for the 1/10 should be ...

Knowing the amount to win is 9 Times the price of a ticket... For what ticket price would you be ready to play Huh

0.001 btc a ticket, win 0.009 ?
0.01 btc a ticket, win 0.09 ?
0.1 ??

Especially looking at gamblers here, please help me set that price once and for all !
8  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] BIT-LOTTERY.com - NEED 10 PEOPLE, WIN 0.09 BTC FOR FREE on: September 05, 2014, 05:10:01 PM

Thanks everyone for your participation !

I will now continue on, starting by polishing a few things... Then i'll start working on the daily and weekly draws.
Hopefully the site will get some regulars for the 1/10 in the meantime... Maybe i could start a signature campaign for it... but i am not sure how that works.

Any feedback would be appreciated though !

I just modified the system to test the pick based on the next block hash found by the network.
I need testers now :-)
I will pay for your ticket, please read here if interested :

12  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] BIT-LOTTERY.com - NEED 10 PEOPLE, WIN 0.09 BTC FOR FREE on: September 05, 2014, 03:02:28 PM
ALRIGHT !!

I just finished tweaking the system, it is now based on the next block hash. I made a quick test and it seems to be working properly.

Although : I NEED 10 TESTERS PLEASE.

I WILL PAY FOR YOUR TICKET !

How to proceed :
Go there : http://www.bit-lottery.com/1-10.php
Enter your bitcoin address, click checkout.
It will return you a bitcoin address to send the payment to.
Post that bitcoin address here, and i will make the payment myself.

In other words, you have a 1/10 chance to win 0.09 BTC for free...

PS :  I will check the database to make sure the bitcoin address you are posting is registered... so don't try it to give me another address...
PS2 : I will do that for the first 10 addresses posted only.

THANKS AND GOOD LUCK !
13  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bit-lottery - Need a transparent idea on: September 05, 2014, 12:53:07 PM
is there anyway for user 10 to know in advance what the txid will be ?
Yes, that's pretty simple. You just need to repeatedly generate the transaction until you have the txid you want. Then, discard the rest and only broadcast that one.

Alright... lets go with the block hash.

Although, same question here : There is no way for anyone to know in advance what the next block hash will be ? right ?

UPDATE :

DESIGN : I have changed the design, i hope it looks better than the first one, gimme some feedback !

PROVABILITY : The 1/10 is now 100 % provable and fair. Here is how it goes  : As soon as the 10th ticket is sold, the system gets the Transaction ID of that last ticket bought, and use the last integer of the TXID to pick the Ticket Number. It is displayed on the 1/10 page so everyone can verify it. Again, some feedback would be appreciated.

CONTENT : I have added the "Stats" page. The presentation is dull and plain, it is still a work in progress. As soon as i am fixed on what exactly i want to be in the page, i'll design it properly. Here again, if you think something is needed in that page, feel free to say it.

I am going to leave it like that for a little bit, see if i can get people to try it. But after multiple test, all systems seem to be working as intended. Good luck to those who try !
Yes provably fair but its a bad idea. When making your own transactions, you can see the txid before it is broadcasted, and you can cancel if you want, so basically you could try 10 times and then broadcast it when you get your right number.

I see... Alright i am going to change that and will base the draw on the next block hash instead.

Alright people, Thanks a lot for your contributions !

So, i think , by reading you all, the very best is to base that on the blockchain block hash somehow like you said. This way, everyone can easily verify the random pick.  "Cloverme" solution is the best i can think of right now : Base the winner on the next block hash found :
Quote
so for 318118 the hash was 00000000000000001f1c023df24bece678182e21a73f493d8316d62ee78895ae, so the winner would be ticket #5.

Although, i have question. I am not good enough with bitcoin internal systems, so what i would like to know is :
What if i use the last ticket bought TXID instead of the next hash block.
Like that : i am user 10... i get a ticket, send the payment  : the website gets the payment, and the txid. And pick the winner with the last integer from the last txid ? Basically... i guess the question is: is there anyway for user 10 to know in advance what the txid will be ?

The reason i would prefer to base it on the txid, is that this way i have no lag : As soon as i get 10 tickets in, i can pick a winner, instead of waiting for the next block.

PS : Cloverme, gimme your btc address, you get the 0.1 btc.
PS 2 : random.org is not free :-( If i wish to create a draw and keep the results online on their website, i have to pay for it, and the minimum price is 3.75 $. Actually, i think i am gonna make a website like random.org, payable in bitcoin, for a much lower fee th... That will be for another project !

Also please comment and critics are welcome, i am looking at improving the site and whatever i may have missed.

No offense, but why should people play your lottery game instead of a 10% dice bet?
Benefits of dice game over your game:
1. Can get the result instantly
2. Provably fair
3. lower edge (ie. higher win multiplier)

IMO, you should implement a provably fair mechanism and lower the edge to compete with dice games. Smiley

Your question would be the same as saying : why would anyone play a money game at all ? When you could just not play at all, and don't take any risk.
Also, would would anyone play any lottery at all ?
I simply like the idea, i am interested in the learning process as to how to develop it.

Now for the provably fair mechanism : i said it multiple times and even opened another thread to collect ideas as to how to do that. It is in the work, and IT WILL BE PROVABLY FAIR. That is what the beta is for, i need some feedback and decide exactly what / how it will be. If you wish to play it, by all means, go play the dice, i am not here to force people to play.

I like 1/10 draw more than others as it only requires 10 participants at most

Thank you !!!

Since you are all the only one who took the time to answer, you ll get a ticket for free. Post your btc address !

Although, i have made my mind. Got some feedback that some would prefer bigger winning amount, understandable. So i chose to go with the 1/10, a daily draw and a weekly draw.
Still working on the design, but almost done !

After that, comes the choice to make it completely transparent, so that everyone can see for sure that it was random. Working few solutions, i ll post them here, see what people would prefer.
19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bit-lottery - Need a transparent idea on: August 30, 2014, 08:19:05 PM
I would base it off of something blockchain related and out of your control... Just an example here to give more ideas:

Since you list the transactions on your site, you can base something off the blockchain.  So let's say the 10th ticket transaction of your 10/10 lotto is in block 318117, the winner could be determined in the next unmined block 318118. An example is maybe the last integer in the hash of the block, so for 318118 the hash was 00000000000000001f1c023df24bece678182e21a73f493d8316d62ee78895ae, so the winner would be ticket #5.

Or something based of anything in the blockchain that is not predictable but fits your pool of tickets to pick a winner, the mod of transactions in the block, etc.

-C

Alright, that seems like a good idea...
But ... let say i do that. I would then have to explain that on the website. Most won't understand that system... but also, those who will, will be able to decide if it's worth it to play or not. Like :  wait to get 9 tickets in, see if it is worth it to buy the last ticket not...  No ?

OK people you all want free btc, that's all good... but hey it works both ways... i really would like to know which is the draw that you would be more likely to play...
