2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Quicksilver | 100% POS |Pre-Sale opening today on Bittrex on: November 03, 2014, 06:23:22 PM
I'm 100% sure this is the usual ICO scam; you have the beautiful colorful infographics, charts, CryptoAsian, hyperbole, bright colors, a logo and everything else.  I'm sure you have your vacation booked already or have talked to local Lambo dealership about what you'll be looking at buying later in the month.  It is quite shameful and very destructive to the cryptocommunity.  Unfortunately, teenagers and newbies will rush to fund your party life because they don't know to analyze a business plan and don't look at altcoin history re ICOs.

You have much to learn about how muncipalities work.  Putting this into cabs in Boston, New York, Chicago etc. is a purely political decision that will be made by local politicians, the owners of taxicab companies and the drivers unions.  You simply do not have the political juice to take meetings at the level, move decision makers or influence policy against the gigantic vested interests that won't want you at the table.  If many cities you will be trying to push aside either the mafia or "good fellows" one step away from the mafia. $80,000 dollars simply isn't enough money to buy the influence and protection you'd need.

Another issue is the nature of crypto-currency.  I wouldn't want to be you when a bunch of teenagers dump their coins on Bittrex to buy the new xBox and as a result some good fellow's taxi company's nightly profits drop 90% because they were planning on coverting to fiat in the morning.  In New York you would get to become part of the foundation of a new warehouse in the Bronx or something.  More than likely once this particular problem was explained no-one at any taxi firm would ever recommend this less they too get to be part of the warehouse floor.

Well, here we go. Another one these damned things. She sent me in to tear it apart. Duty calls and all that.

Spent all day calling major taxi companies in Boston, New York, Washington, Miami, Chicago, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles.  That was as bad as it sounds.

None of that lot had even heard of Bitcoin not to mention bloody Quicksilver.  Thought it was some kind of credit card. Then I went on how it would need special internet terminals to pay and that value changes by the minute. Got a laugh from that.

The serious sorts in each city went on how even if their company was crazy enough to use this shite it would take new laws to allow it.  Everything a taxi company does is under rules to keep drivers scamming passengers, companies scamming drivers and all the rest.

Serious business to change that, connections to the Tony Suprano set and politicians, need $500 and hour lobbyists just to take a meeting someone major.

And into  this world will stride some outside wankers with $80,000 dollars (nothing at all for such an undertaking).

You teens think you'll be in Lambos on the back of this. There's a joke. A great lot of you will stroke off to the beautiful infographics and empty your bank accounts to watch it dump on trading day.  Do some research into ICOs, see how they go.  Maybe 1 or 2 might listen ...

I appreciate you burning a whole day cold-calling cab companies, as you just provided a great example for why Quicksilver is needed. Perhaps I can clear some things up for you.

No companies have yet heard of Quicksilver because I have not publicly marketed it to any cab companies yet (cold calling doesn’t work, as you were kind enough to prove). This was clearly stated in the whitepaper.  The goal of Quicksilver is to fund the infrastructure, marketing, and branding needed to successfully pitch cryptocurrencies to the taxi industry. When the time comes to pitch cryptocurrency to taxicab industries, Quicksilver will be a polished brand with a one-click payment processing app to lower the barrier of entry for companies and clients alike. Cryptocurrency adoption is coming, and Quicksilver is a concentrated effort to achieve proof concept of this adoption. Because many of their transactions are low value payments, taxicabs were seen as “low hanging fruit” to go after for widespread crypto adoption.

Contrary to your research, taxi companies can actually accept cryptocurrencies under current laws, AND, some New York taxi cabs already accept Bitcoin. The legality of Quicksilver is the first thing I looked into when brainstorming this project.

I am not an “outside wanker,” as many people in the altcoin trading community can attest. I have attached my personal Twitter and my freelance writing business to this project.

I understand that this project will not be compelling to all traders and investors: there are no claims of anonymity and a black-market marketplace, no advertised pairs of 1 coin to 1g of drugs, and no promises of a 20x pump in the first week. However what we do have is a vision and focus on building adoption on an aggressive yet achievable scale. While this will not happen overnight, I invite other traders, dreamers, and visionaries, to join me in the coming months and years as we push towards a common goal.

Regardless of whether or not the Quicksilver guy/team has the ability to make a go of this, there's already precedent for taxis accepting crypto (albeit, only on a small scale).

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [RNC] Renascence Coin & Exchange | IPO, Profit Shares, POS on: October 15, 2014, 07:51:08 PM
So you want people here to send you 200 BTC without any escrow?

Our team discussed escrow possibilities at length in our preliminary planning meetings, as we anticipated that many potential investors would see the lack of escrow as a concern.  First, let me point out that RNC will be available for purchase on the exchange shortly after launch, so latecomers will still be able to participate in the profit shares program (assuming initial investors take the opportunity to lock in some profit and sell a portion of their IPO coins).

Regarding escrow, it is of paramount importance to the Renascence team that we remain responsible for our funding, our exchange, and our reputation. Too many bad actors in crypto are making shady deals, and then blaming their mistakes upon situations and events which were "outside their control." The reason for us not using escrow, is that we want to remain in control of the investor funds at all times, since ultimately, we are the ones responsible (and answerable to the community) for their proper use and allocation.

If you have reservations about investing in the early stage of the IPO, then be assured that there are no hard feelings--you are always welcome to buy RNC off the exchange after the launch, or just watch from a distance if that's your style.

Thank you for your question though, and for your interest in this project. Welcome to Renascence Smiley

This response actually makes more sense than I want it to.

Don't let the trolls get to you. Gamers in the cryptocurrency community (like myself!) are patiently/excitedly waiting for the developments of how you're going to integrate GHC into your site. As a long-time League of Legends player (go C9!), I am excited to be able to use the GHC I mined to buy RP on your website! Smiley

Keep up the good work.

All this needless infighting and bickering. I'd rather use this thread to talk about important things, like Gamerholic's future development of their website, coin promotions, and tournaments.  I'm a crypto-enthusiast, AND a gamer, which makes me x2 as excited about this project Smiley

Why do you keep calling me a competitor? Several of my coins have reached multi million dollar market caps. This coin is nothing to me lol

Pssst...it's not one minute blocks

For it being "nothing" to you, you are sure spending a lot of time here trying to get some business.

Meanwhile, staking GHC like a boss!

When you get where I am in life you have a lot of free time

What the hell are you talking about, get business? I posted that github parameters do not match OP. If you had the SLIGHTEST ability to check code it is glaringly obvious that what you are mining is not what is posted in the OP. A fool and his money are soon parted I guess. Hope you have strong shoulders to support a large bag

I never solicited, offered, or asked for anything. You must have me confused with someone else...

Actually, you offered to (in your words) fix the code.

First time poster, long time lurker ...

Gamerholic,

I am glad you've made it clear that your willing to listen to community feedback. But here's the thing, a lot of the "community" piping up in this thread are people trying to FUD. One is a direct competitor, another is a "noob" who wants you to send him money to fix a coin that isn't broken, and the rest are angry kids who may have lost some money mining.

There was one legitimate fork that happened during the launch. Considering the amount of hash that was thrown towards mining your coin (a record amount if I'm not mistake), it's not all that unexpected that something went awry. Subsequent fork were caused by a bad actor trying to bully the dev into choosing the fork that that actor was mining on initially ... looking at you c-cex. Look at Darkcoin, potentially one of the bigger coins this year, they had multiple forks and all were resolved without issue. A fork isn't the end of the world. It sucks because people lose a bit of money (like I did) but all that it means is that the ROI is a bit lower than it might have been otherwise ... Again, not a huge deal.

I understand that you are trying to be professional and please your customers, but unfortunately a great deal of BCT is comprised of trolls and bad actors and what's worse is that often they tend to be the loudest and most outspoken. This is probably one of the reasons why so many coin launches are no longer announced on BCT.

Moving forward, don't oblige trolls because they are not the community, people like USEcoincommunity, Edser, myself and scores of others are (thought I don't intend on going through 30 pages to compile a comprehensive list)
Keep the coins (they are good), ignore the trolls (and let your dev deal with'em), and just get back to business as usual as nothing is wrong.

I myself have probably been too vitriolic in this thread. This constant attack of a good coin is frustrating me, but I should control my temper. Thank you, Hulk Hobo, for being professional and sensible. Gamerholic Dev, I second Hulk Hobo.  Focus on running your awesome gaming website, and let Blocktech take care of business.

Ok, so a couple people asked me to check this coin out to see if there are any easy solutions. Looking at the Github...I highly suggest you completely scrap this clusterfuck you guys are running now and completely start over. Whether that means a coin swap or whatever is something that should be decided upon

That being said, it's not even worth my (or anyone else's) time to point out specific flaws, but I will say that the parameters in the OP are very, very different than what you guys are actually mining

Haha, you are a direct competitor to Blocktech.  Nice try.

Bro, this is my fault. I went to 'I Got Spots' to get advice on a recommended fix to the forking issue plus some apparent code discrepancies. He was not here to compete or disrespect anyone or direct anything towards any of his projects. I take 100% of the blame in this instance. I only was wanting to give Mr. Sengbe a sound recommendation is all. However I see that now the dev is back and would really like to speak with him. Not here to cause trouble but I also lost some coins in this mess and would like some answers myself. But 'I got Spots' was not here to break up or disturb this community nor am I. Please accept my apology on that. I am seeking some answers from Bryce.

~S

There's no constructive criticism whatsoever.

Yeah but this is though:

Keep going. Gamerholic is perhaps realizing that Bitcoin Talk Forums is cancer.

BTW, did you ask Wonderloops permission to use the pics he created?

The amount of whining from like 3 people is unreal. 3 people who probably didn't even mine the coin, but as competitors, they just want to see GHC and gamerholic.com fail. I do hope that the Gamerholic representative doesn't give into them, as this thread has shown that 95% of the community is perfectly happy with the coin, and we are ready to move forward towards its use case!  50 happy miners VS 3 bitchy competitors.  Obvious answer, IMO.

+1, Jyap.   iGotSpots is making it increasingly obvious that he's only trying to FUD the competition in order to drive his own business.

i realize people in crypto have short memory...

how is it so that you people forget Dev and his "friends" basically instamined the shit out of the coin

while claiming there fork was the right one...

you guys are miners and i understand its working(?) fine now

how will you guys deal with the dumps that will come from the instamined coins?

if you guys think price on C-cex is any indication of real price of this coin...

think again soon as they are able to deposit price will drop hard
Yeah its a worthless coin
the dev picked the chain with the least hashrate as the "official chain" just because he and his friends were mining on it
while people who were mining on the 800+ th chain got screwed.

See Below in Bold;

You understand that the Dev picked the "official pool," which he created and posted for everyone to use from the beginning?

This is not true. There was no reference to an Official Pool from the Dev. There still is nothing that says Official Pool.

He picked the pool that he knew was on the original fork,

This I believe to be true because he most likely was mining it himself and I would guess with some substantial amount of TH/s. He easily could of been mining for the client, himself or both. We just don't know, however I believe he was on the correct fork. My guess is he did not name an official pool because of the risk of to much TH/s on one pool would fork the chain and he would of been part of the fork and would ultimately loose his/clients coins.

"instead of letting incompetent pool owners fork his coin."

This is a logical fallacy to assume the pool owners are incompetent. Its the Dev that should of been responsible in communicating to the pool owners and the miners regarding when to close down registration of new miners accounts in order to stay under the max amount of TH/s divided between all pools in real time. He should of been in constant communication with all pool owners including the (NOMP) pools which do allow you to monitor the pools hash rate for the coin. He could of been posting in the Forum next to where the pools are listed that "This Pool Currently Has to High of a Hash Rate/More miners Could cause a fork=Catastrophic loss, please use the Next Pool" or something.

2700 TH/s Network on an AltCoin is a record. Yet Still a developers job especially one that is paid by a client is responsible to monitor all pools in order to prevent this. It can be done in real time but its a lot of work and would take some serious on the fly methodologies in order to maintain the proper balance. It would also require real communication.

However the communication out of him was primarily inappropriate comments addressing the newly forming GHC community . (See Examples Below)

The source is posted, was since launch.   Notice that nice clickable GitHub icon.

Nodes added to OP are coded into the wallet, which is why they weren't added until someone asked for them.

Thank you, please drive through.
[/b]

gamerholiccoind --help

You'll find the RPC port.  You'd think you've never mined a coin before.

I was too busy doing stuff because I already got paid for this.

Nope.  Blocktech was contracted to launch this network for an existing business, Gamerholic LLC of Harlem, New York.

Thank you.  Please drive through.

PS: Too bad for the NYDFS.  We just launched a coin in their state.

PPS: I was "legit" last week when I was helping little kids, but this week I'm a scammer again.  Make up your mind, dude.

You're welcome to compare the first block with the time of the post of the thread.

I'm sorry you didn't read it when everyone else did.

I could go on and on and on. However the facts speak for themselves. He was on the defense early on. I have a hard time believing a client would allow a contracted Developer to speak to the newly forming GamerholicCoin Community like that. The GamerholicCoin People owe it to this community to at least address the Dev and explain to him how to properly address their community.

Since Gamerholiccoin was launched as an open-Source (In Theory) Decentralized CryptoCurrency to be used for a business, I believe they need to start requesting from the miners in the community small reports of this experience along with how much loss was suffered. Plus their needs to be an ombudsman of sorts hired by the GamerholicCoin people in order to mediate with the miners.

We are entering a new era here with regulations, our own self governance along with a lot more accountability and soon liability. This instance in my opinion could set a precedent. A. One of the First LLC's that I know of to launch a coin B. Failure of a Developer to represent the client and community with the minimum amount of responsibility that a developer should be required to represent. C. Obviously the client needed to step in and handle things at the first sign of trouble however what I witnessed on their end was minimal. D. Failure of the Client (LLC) to address the disrespectful comments to the members of the community that spent thousands of dollars in BitCoin to lease TH/s for mining their coin. Many more but hopefully I made the point

He knows well that he should of had a lot more coin information all in one place and constantly updated. He assumed people would know what they were do so he left out the RPC port, Block Explorer (This was one of his biggest errors because he of all people should know better) and the .conf file.... I know there is more but I think I made my point.

Yeah, stuff was fucked at the beginning.

Bro, with language like this how do we expect to ever be taken seriously? I don't blame you and believe me I find myself making the same errors probably more than you however I think we both can conclude its not in our best interest and makes us look very unprofessional.

I myself "lost" 1k coins because I was mining on a pool which was on the wrong fork. But don't blame the Dev for making a pool which didn't fuck up, and then sticking to his original fork.

This I saw and I truly am upset that you along with many others lost. I still believe more information and more communication could of prevented this disaster. However with as much hash that was on the Network I can't guarantee it would of been preventable. Although I can guarantee that a sharp more determined developer could of mitigated a lot more than was witnessed here.

GHC was created for a CLIENT.  That means, someone paid the dev to make this coin for their business, and the dev was/is accountable to said client.

Indeed your correct, however in all fairness deception which I am not saying is the case here, to the community could constitute a lot of legal issues. If its going to be like that then why did the Client not just have the Dev knock off all the coins in one block (100% Premine) and sell them in an ICO? Thousands of dollars were being spent here due to trust and the good name of the GHC people along with those including myself that had great respect for this Dev.

When complications arose, he protected the integrity of the coin he'd created for the client, and did the only responsible thing, IMO.

I agree that protecting the Integrity of the coin comes first. The Client and the community come after that. However without a community the Client has zero.

  Ya'll bitch a lot.

I agree

Postscript. The fact that the C-Cex price was brought up is hilarious. C-Cex is scammy as hell, and their dishonest methods dug themselves this hole.  GHC is not yet on an exchange, as far as I'm concerned

I find it highly dubious that no other exchanges picked up this coin that boasted 2700 TH/s at one point plus came with mass controversy. That kind of record breaking drama would sell these coins fast.

I would like to speak to the GamerholicCoin people in this regards and offer any assistance in order to help them along with the developer to save face in this instance and help clean this mess up, without any expectation of pay

Thanks for your very well thought response. BlockTech along with Bryce are fully aware of how we feel about the launch.

We'll listen to the community. We have no problems scrapping this coin and re-launching as quickly as possible, with a way
to re-issue the new coins to miners who've mined this coin.

We'll listen to the community and do what the community wants. This was no where close to our plan.

Honestly, we want all separation from BlockTech and Bryce, however we are stuck if the community wants to stay with this coin.

We'll take your suggestions.

My suggestion is to continue working with this coin.  Put a stop to the drama, and work together.  The coin's code all seems fine now anyway, and making a new coin alienates a lot of people who supported your coin with mining from the beginning. That sort of bad blood doesn't seem necessary in this situation. I like GHC, and wish to move forward as it is.  Pretty sure that Bittrex is going to add it this week for trading, and hopefully your website will be fixed up soon?  So I can begin purchasing things with my GHC Smiley  Cryptocurrency in action!

We sincerely apologize for the hurdled launch of our coin.

We are considering all options to get this resolved as quickly as possible.

As this gets resolved, we have a client who wants their own coin for a gamification project.

Skilled coin developers please contact us cs@gamerholic.com if you'd like to take this on.

The coin seems fine...  No more FUD than you'd see on 50% of other coin launches, and from the research I did, it looks like C-Cex tried a hostile takeover of the coin.  My mining is going just fine, my wallets are sync'd, and I'm excited to spend my stake on gamerholic.com.  Gamers and crypto unite!
