CIG - Can you expand on what you're thinking? There are lots of possibilities to keep clevermining out of mining NLG, problem is none of them are profitable. Although some techniques could help minimize an NLG miner's losses. Are you thinking about a trading bot that would monitor NLG difficulty and sell NLG when necessary to keep the bittrex price just below clevermining's profitability threshold to mine NLG?   that would be pretty ambitious considering how quickly the difficulty swings.

If you want a place where you can see for each block solved by clevermining, the difficulty of that block along with the highest bittrex NLG buy rate and quantity at the time the block was solved, that's probably easy enough to host at nlgstats.  let me know how you'd want it presented I can whip something up.  It would be interesting to try and figure out if clever compares NLG profitability strictly to LTC profitability when making a decision to mine NLG, or also the other alt-coins they are targeting.  I assume the latter.  The better we reverse engineer clevermining the better we can design an approach to minimize their impact to the coin.

You 're right. Mining isn't profitable. And still it's very important we keep mining. I see possibilities to get close to break-even. All well known hashrentals are offering API's. It's a matter of smart hiring hashpower: at the right time for the lowest price. The right time is when the diff trends to drop below the point where Clever jumps in. The lowest hiring price doesn't need explanation. If we succeed in preventing the diff dropping to low, then we got a double-edged sword. A drop in the diff is always followed by a spike. Thus if we level out the drops, we level out the spikes. Since the dedicated miners are mining the spikes, it is easier (meaning with less power) to mine the spikes. Because Clever is mining only when it's profitable and if we mine just above that point, we can get close to break-even.

The price on Bittrex is an important variable. It determines at what diff Clever jumps in. I don't believe in price manipulation on Bittrex. Although it helps if the marketprice is low, in the long run the market trend always wins.

I'm not a programmer. Thus I need help on automating the smart hashpower buying. I figured out some game rules. I can explain that to the developer of the bot. An important variable is the difficulty level at which Clever jumps in. Fantastic if you can work on that Markanth.

Wow, this low hashing power of Clevermining is exceptional...

Just played a little. I have added around 1GH hashing power to the network, preventing the diff drops below 400. That worked out fine.
Clever didn't lower the hashing power, but Clever will only jump in when the diff is low. At current price (445 @ Bittrex ATM) that diff level is around 400.

Starting with 20,000.00000000 NLG I have only one bonus of 1999.37100002 NLG left on GaPNjn5nZTJto8wJro3S5FfFPYpk74y5Ub.
It's somewhat time consuming. That's why I have decided to find another destination for that last bonus.
Are there any suggestions?

I suggest you give it to Biomike, for buying all that hashing power and keeping rates stable...

That would be well spend coins.

An update on the longest block gap.
Thanks Markanth for fresh data at http://nlgstats.iblogger.org/

Code:
+-----------------------------------------------------------------+-------------------------------+
|                     NLG blocks mined per day                    |  longest block gap of the day |
+---------+---------+-----------+----------+-----------+----------+-----------+-------------------+
|   date  | total # |  Gf7wGA # | Gf7wGA % |  GNDA5M # | GNDA5M % |   block   |        gap        |
+---------+---------+-----------+----------+-----------+----------+-----------+-------------------+
|  Oct 02 |   527   |    383    |  72.68%  |     59    |  11.20%  |   127657  |     56 minutes    |
|  Oct 03 |   568   |    415    |  73.06%  |     62    |  10.92%  |   127682  |    107 minutes    |
+---------+---------+-----------+----------+-----------+----------+-----------+-------------------+

On October 2 all blocks were found within 60 minutes.
On October 3 block 127682 was found by HCM (nice work!), but they found also block 127677 in 12 seconds (okay, that means no bonus this time).

Starting with 20,000.00000000 NLG I have only one bonus of 1999.37100002 NLG left on GaPNjn5nZTJto8wJro3S5FfFPYpk74y5Ub.

I'll donate 2000 NLG per day to anyone that close the longest gap.
Exceptions:
- The closed gap must be at least 60 minutes
- That address hasn't received a blockreward in previous 15 blocks where the time to find was less than a minute.

Thank you dedicated miners. Keep on mining.
I especially thank:
- the miners @Hardcoreminers.com who found block 126512. You also found block 126509. Time to find block 126509 was 2 minutes and 17 seconds. So the 2000 NLG is yours!
- the miners @guldenpool.nl for finding block 126616. You earned a 2000 NLG bonus. All 15 block before 126616 where found by Clevermining. So you did an wonderful job.

All relevant data can be found on http://nlgstats.iblogger.org/ and https://explorer.guldencoin.com

As others have mentioned it, things look to be improving.  Let's hope the trend continues.  Assuming clevermining is tuning their hashrate towards NLG to avoid creating these these big block gaps?

Besides the gaptimes look better, the ones that found the hard blocks were able to pick up some sweets:
Sept 27, Block 124706 took 228 minutes, is found by GNDA5M, and GNDA5M found also block 124705 in 3 seconds.
Sept 28, Block 124999 took 125 minutes, is found by Gf7wGA, and Gf7wGA also found the prior 4 blocks (124995, 124996, 124997 and 124998) within same minute (but that's no surprise).
Sept 29, Block 125941 took 130 minutes, is found by GTumSs, GP9pWRx and GMxAVL, and they also found 125939 in 44 seconds.

As said earlier, I only donate if hard blocks are mined and the finder didn't find one of the prior 15 blocks withing 60 seconds.
So no extra bonus this time. There is still 5999.799 NLG left on GaPNjn5nZTJto8wJro3S5FfFPYpk74y5Ub.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — 25TH OF SEPTEMBER V1.3 (DGW3) MANDATORY UPDATE on: September 27, 2014, 02:55:13 PM

I can tell you this, if I ran a multipool and a coin's Dev team asked me to quit while they planned an upgrade, I would certainly comply. For now, we could just ask them to drop NLG until a long term solution is found.

Just my 2 cents....

A good change miners will return if Clever drop NLG for a while.
And... if 50 miners all add there 2 cents we have 1 nice Guilder!
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — 25TH OF SEPTEMBER V1.3 (DGW3) MANDATORY UPDATE on: September 27, 2014, 02:33:35 PM
The blockexplorer says Clever finds blocks in a few seconds. The truth is that they might find blocks much faster (about 12 blocks within a second?). That's faster then the blockexplorer can proces. I saw around 12 blocks with age -1Y at the same moment. Why is the algo allow that?

The difference in power between dedicated miners and Clever is way out of control. Boosting the dedicated miners I see as only solution. If we manage to mine the hard blocks quicker then the diff will not fall that much.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — 25TH OF SEPTEMBER V1.3 (DGW3) MANDATORY UPDATE on: September 27, 2014, 09:30:37 AM
Meanwhile I'm somewhat behind in supporting the dedicated miners.
Here's the fix.

On Sept 25 Kloink @HCM found the first block after the update. Including the downtime during the update, the gap was 146 minutes. Well, maybe it's not fair to include the downtime in the longest block gap of the day, on the other hand the whole community was waiting for the first blocks to be found. And Kloink, you prevented me getting RSI hitting that F5 button! Thank you. I donate the 2000 NLG to the HCM adres. The pool admin will take care of it.

Sept 26. An exciting day. How will DGW3 react? What's the longest block gap? The answer is 71 minutes. #Blocks found by HCM dropped from 40 to 7. Keep mining fellows! If you quit the problem gets worse. One of those 7 blocks was block 124479. It was digged up by rjf19. Thanks a lot. If the price of NLG rise again you can get yourself a statute. I donate another 2000 NLG to the HCM adres. The pool admin will take care of it.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — 25TH OF SEPTEMBER V1.3 (DGW3) MANDATORY UPDATE on: September 27, 2014, 08:53:51 AM
Just looking back through the block explorer and Hardcore's block stats it appears to me that the new diff algo in it's current form has not worked.  The only blocks that Hardcore are finding are the high diff blocks every hour or two which then opens the flood gate for Clevermining to rape the coin, leave, rinse and repeat.

I've mined NLG on and off since day 1 but I haven't mined it for weeks due to the diff adjustment problems and frankly, the recent algo change appears to not have made one iota of difference.  This is a shame as I saw huge potential in this coin.  How are your merchants going to be able to accept the coin if it takes over an hour for one confirmation?
Merchants will be happy if the confirmation is done afterwards. But how do we keep the miners happy?

Option 5 (by Dutchyyy) is probably the best for the short term. Terk is cooperative and it's more profitable for Clevermining too (stats show Clevermining could earn the same amount coins with less power). Be aware that this is a workarond. First of all there are many more multipools. Have a look at http://poolpicker.eu/table?algo=scrypt. Secondly it still leaves only the hard blocks for dedicated miners.

And Thirdly it's very risky to leave someone having more then 50% of the power for a long time.
Can we finance a solid dedicated NLG pool? (Crowd funding? Premine?)
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/pay-here — 25TH OF SEPTEMBER V1.3 (DGW3) MANDATORY UPDATE on: September 27, 2014, 08:45:15 AM
The update to DGW3 has been succesfull, but it looks like it is not the best solution for the blocktime issue. However we don't want to jump to conclusions to quickely, so we will be monitoring this situation closely for a few days. Guldencoin is a longterm project and we are confident that we will eventually find the best solution, with the update we showed we have the community/development strength to execute such an update very smoothly and we can do it again.

Its important that we hear different opinions and discuss ideas/solutions, it is still our number 1 priority. As for the merchants, most of them wont notice these blocktimes as they are using LitePaid, so transactions are done within seconds. So yes our focus is on merchants, but like we said in the beginning thats starts with a strong foundation.

Monitoring and finetuning DGW3 is covered by /GeertJohan. It's in good hands.
Just wondering, isn't there an algorithm for intra block difficulty adjustments?
