lsblk returns
Code:
NAME        MAJ:MIN RM   SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda           8:0    0   1.4T  0 disk
├─sda1        8:1    0   1.3T  0 part
└─sda2        8:2    0  30.7G  0 part [SWAP]
loop0         7:0    0 963.1M  0 loop
mmcblk0     179:0    0  14.6G  0 disk
└─mmcblk0p1 179:1    0  14.6G  0 part

swap exists but its not being used thats the problem and I dont know why. Im running again
Code:
./autogen.sh && ./configure CPPFLAGS=”-I/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.8/include -O2″ LDFLAGS=”-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.8/lib” && make
but I dont have really hope.

Do you have a swap file? I succesfully compiled it with my raspberry pi + using the bitcoin-core in the AUR (Arch User Repository) https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/bitcoin-core/

My swap file is about 2GB on the raspberry pi, for more instructions on how to set more swap https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/swap

I did not! thanks!

But Im a little puzzled, I have successfully followed the steps from that nice guide, and when I do swapon -s, it lists my new created swap... But it also says 0 used and priority -1

I have so on my /etc/fstab it has priority:
/dev/sda2 none swap defaults,pri=100 0 0

and ran:
swapon -p 100 /dev/sda2

but apparently even with top priority that swap is not being used! So Im still stuck at making bitcoin coire

Yeah, don't be deterred by those numbers. I ran 0.8.6 on a B no problems. Of course it can be argued that it's not beneficial to network, since tx are not validated quick enough. But it ran..

Re Memory split: I went with no graphic memory at all as it was headless anyway.

how about btcd? what can you tell about it? how do you install it?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: stuck at making bitcoin core 0.10.0 on raspberry 1 B+ on: March 13, 2015, 05:45:30 PM
those numbers dont add up. if they were it, none of the tutorials for bitcoin on raspberry would be real, theres not a raspberry model with 2 gigs of memory, not even the latest one.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: stuck at making bitcoin core 0.10.0 on raspberry 1 B+ on: March 13, 2015, 01:50:37 AM
thats what I went for at first too, but because I use BerryBoot I cant not split memory. Did it by myself on config.tx with

Code:
gpu_mem_256=112
gpu_mem_512=368
cma_lwm=16
cma_hwm=32
cma_offline_start=16

giving it a shot with out. let see what happens.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: stuck at making bitcoin core 0.10.0 on raspberry 1 B+ on: March 13, 2015, 12:45:28 AM
I recently got btcd compiled on a B though.

Im getting stuck at compiling Go

Code:
# ../doc/codewalk

real    0m39.786s
user    0m25.080s
sys     0m2.740s

# ../test/bench/go1
ok      _/home/pi/go/test/bench/go1     38.662s

# ../test

I havent waited 12 hours but... Its been stuck at that point for awhile.

aaah so thats why.. Thanks a lot!
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / stuck at making bitcoin core 0.10.0 on raspberry 1 B+ on: March 11, 2015, 09:08:24 PM
Hello,

So I have been following this guide:
http://bit-post.com/featured/running-bitcoincore-0-10-on-a-raspberry-pi-2-4419

And I am aware it says for raspberry 2. But theres other few guides for raspberry 1 and its pretty much exactly the same, word by word.

Did all the steps (download, install berkely, autogen, configure with the proper flags) but make successfully.

I am well aware the raspberry is slow. dead slow. it took me a few hours to do those steps. but I have left the raspberry 12 hours on the make process, and its stuck at CXX    libbitcoin_server_a-init.o It wont go past that file. Patience isnt my strongest suit, but I think half a day even for the raspberry should be enough, right?

I even been running it inside one of those 12v car fridge. And it uses copper heat sinks. So I dont think overheating is the issue.

Even after 12 hours of making the raspberry is not "frozen" / "stuck" because when I move the mouse, to unlock screensaver (after a few minutes...) it brings back the screen. And goes dark after awhile again. So screensave works, that means the system is working.

But no way it will go past CXX    libbitcoin_server_a-init.o

Any ideas?

Thanks.
9  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: newbie trader. bots: yay or nay? on: March 10, 2015, 12:19:43 PM
Well I actually went ahead and got C.A.T. for the 3 exchanges I was already trading on (BTCe, BitFinex and BitStamp).

And well, I have to say, its a nice tool. I would compare to like an electric screwdriver. Its not "mandatory" but it definitely makes life easier than usual an standard screwdriver. Sorry I like to make shitty comparisons. I had a good experience 12 hours ago (approx) when BTCUSD value raised to 190, I actually had to go to the DMV that morning, and when I got back, I was pleased to see I made over 10 transactions with each 0.5% pure benefits. Its not a lot, but its bitcoins I literally made without even being at home. Just waiting in line, meanwhile the bot was doing its thing.

Its not a money printer, it wont do any good if you dont program it well, and it will absolutely do nothing if the exchanges dont move. Its a bot. It automates stuff. Its not magic. But it is handy.

I recommend it to anyone who can afford one and would that that comfort (doing good trades for you while you wait in line at the DMV. or sleeping. or whatever)

Hello,

I am pleased to leave my feedback / review.

This is my first trading "full" bot so I can not compare it to any other (before that I was using QtBitcoinTrader which has an option to use scripts but its primarily a day trading GUI)

It surpasses all expectations I could have. I am relatively new to trading, and they are options provided in this program that I could not have thought about.

You can pretty much automate any strategy you might have. And what is great, is that, for new users like me: the default option guarantees benefits and is safe. So for those who like me are lost viewing all the options, the default settings program is good.

And its a tool that makes learning the market fun.

100% multi platform, all you need is a Java runtime (I am using Oracle 8 on debian wheezy x64 and there is a small sound bug, other than its working flawlessly)

And I could not leave a review of the product without mentioning the amazing support from the author.

I felt myself somewhat annoying bombarding him with newbie questions and he patiently answered them all very quickly and very clearly. Pre purchase honest recommendations (not trying to sell desperately, which is something rare in salesmen) and very good advice and communication.

I recommend this amazing tool for anyone that wants to get serious in bitcoin trading. It is worth the investment.
11  Economy / Services / cloud bitcoin mining backend software? on: March 02, 2015, 05:27:53 PM
Hello. I am thinking of setting up my own cloud mining company.
I would like to know if there is a software for managing such business. Like there is PTC Evolution for Paid To Click websites, OSCommerce for webstores.. and so on.
I would like a system that of course manages sign ups, contracts and automatic payouts.
I am a webmaster and I know my way around PHP MySQL and such but I wouldnt be able, no way, to code the whole system by myself.
Thank you.

nice input, thanks, will try it out!
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / "zombie" nodes on: February 23, 2015, 04:20:55 AM
hi.

I recently upgraded to Bitcoin Core 0.10.0.
I am running it on two computers. one is debian wheezy x64 and the other windows 8.1 pro x64

according to https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/, i am on the network. And I know the network is kinda slow but: for now a week my blockchain ETA hasnt moved. Windows says 39 weeks to go (and synchronizing with network), and debian says 2 years 11 weeks (and no block sources available)

they both show some traffic activity but it is reaaaally low. Like 10 megas sent and 139 megas received on debian.

UPnP on my nobel prize for shittiest router firmware(belgacom BBox 3, look it up, if you want nightmares) ever opened 8333 for windows, and wont let me open the same port on debian.

Both computers are 24/7.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / newbie trader. bots: yay or nay? on: February 18, 2015, 07:27:51 PM
Hello.

Id like the input from experienced traders.

For about two months, no more than that, Ive been trading (+mining) on btce, bitstamp and bitfinex.

I realize this is a slow business. But I think at this point, I should consider the next step.

So far my strategy has been quite safe / defensive.

I sell 0.01 at price X, wait for the BTC value to be at X-3usd, buy again. Sell 0.1+the interest I made again at X, resell at X-3.

This works when the BTC value is stable of course. When there is a crash or a rise I wait for it to stabilize and start again my strategy.

Now that I am able to afford C.A.T., which seems to be the most appreciated/value trading bot around here (plus I had EXCELLENT communication with the developer), I was wondering if acquiring a bot should be wise.

My main question/concern is:
Do bots harm the markets?

As I began saying, I recently started in a long time business. I realized that. So every move I make I should consider the impact it would have on a long term. It is obvious I want easier/bigger benefits (who doesnt) but at the same time I wouldnt want to hurt the market I am working on, because that would have direct consequences to me, and everybody else.

So far the only anti bot commentaries Ive read are "pissed off" human day traders that complaints that bot work faster than they do. But so far I havent read any theory of how could trading bots hurt the market overall.

Thank you in advance. This is a serious question from a newbie, yet, motivated, trader, so please take this seriously.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: dead chain on AntMinerS2? on: February 18, 2015, 07:17:54 PM
I dont know if its the same "bug" or issue but something similar else happened:
the system detected 0 chains! That was quite a scare! But like last time, i unplugged and replug the main board and rebooted it. They all re appeared magically.
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: dead chain on AntMinerS2? on: February 05, 2015, 10:48:59 PM
thanks for the uber fast reply -i wish more companies had the same quality service..

so i followed your instructions, and i assumed by resetting while powered off you meant plug out and plug in again each board? thats what i did anyways and apparently that did the trick!

Im still puzzled about what did this? my unit does not move whatsoever so I do not understand how come plugging out and back solves anything? or is it a software bug that made a board not working and a manual intervention was required?
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / dead chain on AntMinerS2? on: February 05, 2015, 10:01:57 PM
Hello.

Ive been using this S2 for a couple of weeks now. Very happy about it.. Until now. I was casually checking the admin web interface for temperatures, as I do everyday, and saw this:

A few minutes before that (unfortunately i dont have a screenshot for that) i could swear i saw the chain above that one with a status like ------x----x---x-- or something around those lines. inactive chips and 2 or 3 dead ones. Ive been resetting a few times the unit to check if by some miracle it would fix (ex windows user, still have that habit) but nein.

So, any thoughts? Has this happened to any of you before? Is there something that can be done?

Thanks.

18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading (not bot) software GUI with graphs multi exchange compatible. on linux on: February 02, 2015, 07:34:03 PM
it seems very confusing. ill have to look at it.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading (not bot) software GUI with graphs multi exchange compatible. on linux on: January 30, 2015, 09:20:26 AM
it says:

So Gekko is not:
