Dogie is being more than disingenuous here given there are plenty of people in these forums that would agree he is not to be trusted given his posts about certain companies.
Do your own RESEARCH on Dogie's record. There is ample evidence. I am guessing you have not done much reading in the hardware threads. You seem to be Trolling here. I am done responding to your questions until you read to some depth into Dogie otherwise there is no much point in having a discussion. Do your homework. I have read plenty of the complaints against Dogie and CITM. If I were to put trust in either it be hands down CITM based on my own research. Do your own research and catch up with the reality of the situation. +2 It's evident people like Dogie are abusing the system. Perhaps the only way to have people realize this is to show our distrust with Dogie whenever possible using the Trust meter. Couldn't imagine it would be too difficult for a quiieter case/fan design given as many as they sell and markup value. Probably good for them to hear our concern for next design.
I think friedcat will bring out something with decent cooling. They at least learnt their lesson the hard way with the last prisma line. Bitmain don't tend to listen. Just look at that ugly U3 they just released with terrible stats. |

Even though Butmain still hasn't responded, the net has. eg. ebay prices have plummeted since the announcement. (buy now prices, not auctions that have been going for over a week. They are naturally inflated before the crash and announcement)

What is the hash rate, and is noise really so loud?
stock settings = 1150gh at freq 350 and sound is 72-74db. plus it is nasty pitch with the stick fan. "nasty pitch", it's closer to a cat being tortured. Worst than those high speed 40mm fans in network switches. I sold my first two (and only) within 24 hours of receiving them. Modding them simply isn't worth the cost. |

I think Jamphone is probably referring to Cooling. Nobody really talked about cooling much, but this warehouse is in an environment high north in latitude, so it's winters most of the time with a modest summer. Also, these aren't high-end servers/computers, but bitcoin miners. I think they can operate in less-than-typical "data-center" friendly environments. This isn't Texas or California, even though some have been able to host there as well. Some have suggested that I may be able to do away with HVAC completely, or at a very bare minimum as long as I set up the racks properly and have smart ventilation. Are they bsing me? I don't think so, but maybe.
Having lived in Wenatchee most of my life(where this building in question is located), i can tell you that it gets hotter here in the summer then it does in LA. despite being fairly far north, we are a high desert region and frequently spend weeks in the summer with daily highs of 100+. There is no way you would be able to operate 24/7 from mid/late may to about October without some kind of cooling. I would even question the viability of running at night, as our nightly lows can stay 70+ for weeks as well. I can confirm the above. You need at least evap (cross building) cooling or miners and surroundings that will tolerate that heat. |

I second that. Mining is doomed because of Chinese manufacturers.
Before they sell you the equipment they are mining and raising the difficulty level.
I suggest to STOP buying Chinese equipment so the BTC price will go up instead of fall down.
This has been going on since the dawn of ASIC mining. Boycotting manufacturers won't stop them from producing hardware and mining with it. Correct but the major manufacturers have already mentioned the US$200 limit. ie. if BTC hits or falls below that, it is the end for some manufactures. The manufacturing process costs more. Currently they are operating on very small margins. Don't be surprised to see one or two close or be sold to others who think they can turn them around. This was expected. |

Is it still worth mining bitcoin right now ?
Its the same old story, for most people mining at home on a moderate / expensive electricity tariff its not profitable even with efficient hardware. If you have cheap electricity and efficient hardware than you maybe returning a small profit but I don't see that continuing for much longer. Its winter here and if my miners weren't providing supplementary heating to parts of my house I'd switch them off and sell them. They are costing more to run than they're mining and that's been the same for the past few months. I don't mind at the moment though because of the heat they produce. Come the spring they're gone though it pains me to say, however electricity here in the UK is right up there with the dearest in the world. yeah you are far higher then my winter rate of 13 cents a kwatt (then figure heat use in the winter at 3 cents) so from now until May my power is 10 cents a kwatt. In may the summer rate is 16 cents and no heat benefit I will be done. Unless btc jumps really high in price. It all boils down to btc price really doesn't it. Shame its so low at the moment and I don't know if it will ever go much higher, especially in the near future. I'm running about $0.25 a k/watt which is a killer. But to be honest by running these tubes its cheaper overall than heating my office, kitchen and dining room 24/7 by alternative heating methods when you take into consideration the bitcoin return. I live in a very small cottage hence why 2 tubes heat my office and take the chill off the kitchen and dining room. Its not a big house by any stretch of the imagination lol. Something to consider would be an efficient heat-pump (reverse cycle) A/C. You will pay roughly a 1/3 of the cost the miners run at the current market rates. Consider the cost of the miners and the cost of an A/C system. Comparable for a small cottage. |

But even so, today you can count on about 1/2 your mining earnings to be eaten up by electricity costs (depending on your rates, of course). Using $0.085/kWh as an example, consider this:
SP20 @ 1650GH/s, 1250W: earns $4.15/day. Costs $2.56 in electricity. Net profit: $1.59/day.
SP20 @ 1200GH/s, 640W: earns: $3.02/day. Costs $1.31 in electricity. Net profit: $1.71/day.
Obviously in this case it is better to underclock your SP20 (or SP10); you will increase your net profit. YMMV depending on your local electricity rates.
I think most people have higher electricity/hosting rates than that, so underclocking will be even more important. Only a few places in the world can accommodate the current price even when underclocked. WA at a little over 2c per kw for example. |

Market will be closed when the maintenance fee equals to the mining revenue. And then terminate service after reserving the hardware for 10 days
Due to the aging of actual miners, the quality and hashrate of miners delivered to users are not guaranteed
Sounds like a sweet deal  yup, I'll take 1000! ... and may as well throw in a Bridge or Clock Tower. |

Just got my S5 Here is a video review I made of unboxing and firing up my brand new S5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTV8d-_ulbMCan say I am very happy. hit 1150 right out of the box or just above. Came packed very nice, box was in good shape. Hooked up my EVGA 750 G2, and she was up First Impression was the volume. It is loud. much louder than I planned.. girlfriend isn't stoked, but I'll keep it downstairs. Other than that, the fan works amazing. Heat is down to mid 40's. The web interface is very fast too. It weighs less than the s1 but the price per hash speed was right for me. I may get a dual fan mod eventually for less volume but if the girlfriend doesn't complain I'll leave it stock and let it run Have a great day. There is a reason the fan is moving that much air. You need to dissipate a certain amount of watts in heat consistently to avoid a catastrophic failure. If you change the fan out, be very careful of the heat produced. |
