Bidding Pond looks like it's the only auction site that allows you to pay with bitcoin right now, but it lacks many of the features of ebay. Is anyone working on a alternative auction site? Or is the developer(s) of Bidding Pond working on improvements?

Some features I would like to see in an auction site:
-Buy it Now
-A search function
-Reputation and Comments (bidding pond has reputation but I don't see buyer's comments anywhere)
-Sorting Methods
-Item Reviews
-Specific and Multiple Categories (Brand, Free Shipping, Netbooks, etc.)

I would use bit-pay but I think I might whore the bitcoin for a while and make some extra cash when it goes up  Cool

We'll probably try to go the bitcoin-only route and if it doesn't work out I'll suck it up and do paypal too.

If anybody really wants to do this I'd be willing to help, although I'm only a mediocre programmer

We were hoping we could cash the bitcoins in to pay for the shirts, i guess we're kinda doing it to get around the legal junk of selling stuff.

Don't bitcoin transactions take a while to verify?

Also people stop playing games all the time so tons of money would just get lost in the system, maybe if when you logged off all the money got sent to a central wallet, then it could be redeemed when you logged back on? The game's revenue could come from banned account's cash or user's who haven't logged on in a year etc.

Oh yea good call... I kinda forgot about that lol

The problem is, I think bitcoin will scare away most of the buyers, I was thinking I could have a button that says "Buy Bitcoins!" that links to least sketchy bitcoin exchange (probably tradehill) but they might not want to sign up, oh well  Roll Eyes

It looks like the buyers pay with bitcoin, is there a solution like that where the buyer can use paypal or something then send it to me (as bitcoin)?

If you're coming from windows I would recommend Linux Mint 11, I'm not to fond of the new Ubuntu interface (Unity).

Yea I'm a web designer, but I do a lot of programming in general. I'm using google app engine for the hosting so the backend is with python. I've been lurking on this forum for a bit and it looks like there are a lot of scams and I want this web store to keep a good rep, so I guess I'm asking what the best practices for setting this up are, how should the transaction work?

Several friends of mine own a web comic and asked me to design a site for them. One thing they asked me to do was to build a shop where they could sell shirts, they asked me to use a site like zazzle but I convinced them to let me make one using bitcoin.

So now I'm building the web store to sell shirts for bitcoins, but I'm not quite sure how it should work or how I should do it. Does anyone have any idea how to do this without making it look too sketchy?
