1  Economy / Gambling / Re: LuckyDiamond.io - multi crypto casino. Faucets, contests, special events, dice on: January 14, 2022, 01:03:17 PM
I have given this site a try. Deposits are fast, withdrawals also work.

However, I have noticed something very strange after a few bets on mines. When I lose a game, the mine on which I lose is often not the one shown in the bet history after the game. I am attaching screenshots below - please notice the very similar mine pattern in both screenshots. The screenshots were taken seconds apart, as evidenced by my balance and the chat content. I have encountered several such bets.

Game I have lost:

Actual game results from bet history:

Conveniently, the provably fair system for mines is not implemented. I am currently communicating with support to see if this is some sort of error or mistake, will keep you posted.

Why does bitcointalk display the large warning here?
4  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com | The Most Popular Bitcoin Casino | V2 & New games out now! 👽 on: August 29, 2019, 04:50:20 PM
Been looking at various provably fair implementations on sites here and came across something weird. Basically all sites have 256 char server seeds, but stake uses a much shorter one. Can anyone more knowledgeable comment on why the server seed on stake is shorter than any other site?  Isnt this a security risk?

Well, theoretically this should not necessarily be an issue, but its a somewhat weird decision not to err on the side of caution. I would agree that 128 byte seeds (=256 hexdec chars) should be the minimum.

Don't shorter seeds necessarily imply worse security? I know primedice already got hacked for millions. For now I am keeping my gambling money on stake (<1btc), but things like this concern me.

Pretty quick betting speed. Verified my rolls, all good. But why cant I change my client seed without changing my server seed?
7  Economy / Gambling / Re: Fun Crypto Games - cryptogames.io | Play games and earn bitcoins | Provably Fair on: June 22, 2015, 04:11:16 PM
I like the site but then provably fair is NOT fair. As NLNico mentioned in another thread:
3 ) some others do not allow you to change your client seed so they force a client seed that makes the result known to them even before you bet.

Thats you. What happens on your site is that I pick a client seed, press randomize. The seed gets sent to you and you can set a new server seed depending on my client seed, so you can actually affect if I win or not!

The proper way to implement this would be to allow the player to change the client seed WITHOUT changing the server seed.

Otherwise great site.

Hi!

Hypothetically, we can affect your game result, but only in case we know exactly how you bet and play. But as far as it's too complicated to fulfil (as we can't read other people mind) we just don't use the scheme you suggested. Also, there is a verification code on the bet page so you could verify any bet on your own.

this is bullshit. It is very easy for you to allow the user to change the client seed, i dont see a reason not to, apart from the fact that you want to scam users.

As it is now, your site is NOT PROVABLY FAIR.

OP, by how much has your performance increased after upgrading to the new stable node v0.12? Most people i've talked to were overly positive, but my server usings socket.io had relatively low increases in performance.. Im trying to figure out if im doing something wrong. So hows performance on your end?

Hey OP. Don't want to be much of a bother, but im not sure you saw my question. If you have a moment, could you share your experience?

Hey there, it's ok, sorry I missed to reply your question.

Depend on what is the bottleneck on your system, v0.12 is a big improvement for node as we can see in the change log. \I haven't use it for production though, it is still new and I'm not sure all the 3rd party libraries are compatible (although everything seems to run well in my development build).

Thanks for your reply, guess I will have to investigate it more deeply. Unfortunately my clients considered it a 'security concern' to update to the newest stable version asap.. you know how people can be. Anyway, good luck with your upgrade.

Ah I see. Yes there'll be security and reliability issue since the upgrade is relatively big and still new. You might want to test it on your development version and test if everything works well first. Just my 2 cents Wink All the best for your server!

yeah I agree, its just that some (one) particular client insisted on in. The other two servers I manage are still on v10.x.. Although I'm planning to upgrade them this week. How much time do you think is reasonable to wait (or how much time are you giving it?)?

you need to calm down, dude. Crypto probably doesnt even know about this problem yet, he evidently doesnt show up here very often.

While, as a fellow dev, I appreciate people being interested in this topic, this is sort of derailing the thread.

Excuse me, that was not my intent. I was simply interested in crypto's experience, as he employs a similar stack to mine, as well having a similar server load (i would think). Does he come here anymore?
14  Economy / Gambling / Re: Diggit.io | NEW: Referral System! | Over Dice? | 800+ BTC Invested! | 1% Edge on: February 10, 2015, 01:24:07 PM
Hello Crypto. I was wondering, how has performance improved on diggit after upgrading to Node 0.12? My friends tell me that their socket.io performance improved significantly, however, the sites that I administrate only show a modest (~5-10% depending on site) decrease in latency, similarly to the number of max connections... So im not sure if i have something set up in a nonoptimal fashion or the gains are just variable in this way. Cant wrap my head around it.

What was your experience?

Also interested in this. I've also upgraded several services to v0.12, havent had the time to check perf. gains, but I am also expecting sizeable improvements (concurrency has been our main bottleneck).

I wasnt aware 0.12 came out until yesterday evening when I got my ass chewed out by a client for not following security practices and not upgrading immediately to the newest stable version. FFS as if they're paying my to sit behind my pc and check for updates 24/7. /rant

lol.

yeah I understand. 0.12 was in development for so long that many thought it would be another year before it shipped. On that note, what do you think about io.js?

Why did you have your entire stack on a gambling site to begin with? :/ Sorry for your loss.

Did you notice any performance increase after bumping up to Node v0.12, OP?

I would appreciate anybody's input on what you think I could get for the domain bitdicing.com.

It's registered at namecheap and has 10+ months left.

Hope you all had a good new years and thank you!

not much probably. many dice sites around now, new demand for btc is low, so i dont see many new opening up. plus the domain isnt exactly fantastic..
