1  Economy / Speculation / Re: GS, JPM and all other boutiques will open their bitcoin desks sooner or later on: January 26, 2015, 10:13:11 PM
I personally know bankers at GS who have undergone company sponsored Bitcoin Training in the last 6 weeks.

Thanks for the inputs here. It totally makes sense.

They have existing infrastructure, talents, algorithm and capital to do it. Why not do it, if the regulation obstacle has been removed?

The pump was lasting long. Dump will last too.

I think you missed the chance to get some cheap coins last week. If the whale backs off the train to $200-$240 and takes everyone on broad, he would be too kind and too generous to be called as a WHALE.

3  Economy / Speculation / Re: <<< Bitcoin price tomorrow >>> on: January 26, 2015, 08:46:14 PM
240 USD would be my prediction.

We have been traded in $200-$240 range long enough, which means whales purchased all the coins that could be shaken out at this price range.

Even if the whale dump 10K coins to get to $240, he wouldn't be able to shake out too many new weak hands. It is not in the whale's interest to do the dumping for very limited reward.

Like I said in the wall post.

Early this week, we will defend the key support around $266.

By the middle of this week, we will stand firmly above $300.

By the end of this week, we may have a chance to stand at $350.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 26, 2015, 06:14:35 PM
Is $266 going to break today?

yes: I
no:

$260 will be broken, free drop to sub $100 in days

Can we make bet on this?

Trolls will never honor any bet they made with you. They will simply disappear and register new account instead.

The surge of bears upon dips is a good healthy indicator to the bull rally.

This week will be fruitful to all bitcoin traders.

We will pull back a bit to $266 (a major support level seen before) to digest the sharp growth yesterday. And then we will stand firmly above $300 in the mid-week. We will finally touch $350 by the end of the week.

The waves we saw so far are impulsive than corrective. If you do wave counting, you will see it is far away from the ending phase. So buy on the dip and ride the winner.

BTW, don't touch litecoin, coz it is dying and it is just taking a free ride from bitcoin. Bitcoin is at the edge of mainstream acceptance, and it will enjoy this huge first comer advantage and wipe out the alt coins.

Told you that $266 is a major support. Entry point around $266 will be very nice for breakout believers.

There's less that 2K worth of bids down to $266. You're dreaming if you think it will hold. The only buyers right now are people taking profits on their shorts. Those traders won't get back in until there is upward momentum.

You think a good algorithm or trader will put limit buy orders hanging on the exchange and wait for you to detect their bottom-line willing-to-buy price?

"You'd be surprised at how many wall street firms are starting to accumulate bitcoin positions that aren't talking about bitcoin yet"

Agreed.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss launching "Gemini" serving bitcoin to wall street on a golden plate on: January 26, 2015, 05:31:01 PM
Do anyone think Gemini will disclose the numbers of their institution clients in the audit?

I am very much interested in this piece of information.

楼主帖子晚发半个月的话就成为神贴了。 Grin

Coinbase trading API documentation:
https://docs.exchange.coinbase.com/

Know when it's starting up? I doubt I'll get CB on it right away but starting to gather the data should be straightforward enough.

Good job Richy.

Thanks for the API. Will look into it and merge it with my own algorithms.

Two months of fee-free HFT on coinbase will create a fortune for many of you.
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: US based exchanges and ETF are just the very first steps on: January 26, 2015, 04:39:38 PM
From the birth of those new products, we can see the changing attitude of the regulators. Instead of leaving bitcoin in the corner and letting it kidnapped by drug dealers or underground economies, why not use it for good purpose?

I believe more and more bitcoin products will arrive in the USA, if the regulators are adjusting their attitude favorably like this.

New products could include:

Saving accounts accepting bitocins and paying bitcoin-unique interest rate,

Term loans based on bitcoins,

Corporate bonds denominated in bitcoins,

IPOs denominated in bitcoins.

The marriage between bitcoins and the Wall Street will be blessing and magnificent to all supporters like us.

A conspiracy theory of mine is that FED surely want to do more QE to boost the economy and to win the currency war against depreciating Euro, Yen and RMB.

However, the printing of new USD is tightly monitored by the republican senate and congress.

How to get around of that? Yep, approving bitcoin related products and making it a de-factor currency. Then the inflationary bitcoins at the distribution stage will funciton like "newly printed USD pouring into the economy".

So the hypothesis is "using bitcoins to implicitly QE the U.S. economy".

I agree with your theory! but this time the economy will recover since wealth is given to us which we will spend wisely unlike the banks

Exactly, QE with newly printed USD, the big banks will get the wealth from the helicopter (a metaphor for fed) first.

QE with bitcoins, the IT guys and the middle classes who have entrepreneurial courage will get the wealth from the helicopter first.

The result is exactly what Obama wants and the Democratic wants.

BUY @ 266.93
Perfect timing.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Shorts going down! on: January 26, 2015, 04:28:32 PM
Bullish, because bearish sentiment is declining
Bearish, because.. bears could open a shit ton 'a shorts, and shorts closing are somewhat responsible for the price increase
Bullish because longs are also relatively low

Overall seems neutral to me.. but if there is another bear attack, could be very bad.

The bullish rally is a self-reinforcing trend, coz all the bears that are forced to cover will have fewer and fewer ammos (i.e. money). They took a hit when we rallied from $16x to $275 now.

If there is NO new money to join into the bear camp, the bullish rally will keep playing and the bearish counter-attacks can only serve the purpose of self-rescuing but not the purpose of reversing the trend again.

More and more wall street money will hit the ground and rush into cryptocoins.

http://blogs.wsj.com/venturecapital/2015/01/26/digital-payments-company-ripple-labs-finalizing-30-million-funding-round/

Quote
Ripple Labs Inc., the developer of a bitcoin-like technology that enables institutions to transfer money internationally, is closing in on a $30 million funding round, Venture Capital Dispatch has learned.

A spokesman for the company, formerly called OpenCoin, confirmed it is working on a new financing but declined to provide details.

A person familiar with the situation said the deal places the post-money valuation of the San Francisco startup at about $100 million.

Investors in the Series A round will include Andreessen Horowitz, Google Ventures, IDG Capital Partners and other existing investors, the person said. Ripple previously raised more than $3.5 million from a number of backers including Bitcoin Opportunity Fund, Camp One Ventures, Core Innovation Capital, FF Angel, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Vast Ventures and Venture51.

Ripple has created a decentralized payments network that helps validate transactions using a digital currency technology similar to bitcoin. The goal is to reduce the cost and time it takes to make cross-border payments in various currencies. The company is targeting use by banks and remittance providers, rather than consumers.

The company signed on two American banks, Cross River Bank and CBW Bank, last year, as well as Fidor Bankin Germany, to use the Ripple network to enable customers to instantly send money internationally. The network allows smaller banks to avoid the use of large intermediate banks that take fees on such transactions.

Ripple is tapping into the promise of the distributed verification systems that underlie digital currencies such as bitcoin and Ripple’s digital coin. These systems can help speed up and reduce the cost of financial transactions, as well as a variety of other transactions. Venture investors are increasingly talking about the value of this type of distributed ledger system as a basis for all kinds of applications, not just currency.

Though bitcoin itself has many potential uses, including as a system for improving the efficiency of payments and financial infrastructure, speculation has resulted in swings in its price. The volatility of that digital currency has kept some venture investors on the sidelines, even as others have plunged in.

The largest venture investment in a bitcoin company took place recently, when investors put $75 million into Coinbase Inc. Bitcoin-based startups have attracted roughly $439 million in venture capital in recent years, according to bitcoin-market tracker Coindesk.

Gonna be huge, and bullish as fuck. Amirite, guys?   Tongue Cheesy Grin

No offence to you, trolls. But the downward trend line has been broken with huge volume as a confirmation.

If one doesn't buy dip after trend reversal and break out, he/she must be nuts.

To trigger stop losses on the long side, you need hit key support levels like $266, $250 heavily.

And I don't think those big whales who placed gigantic buy orders around $250 are OUT OF AMMOS now.

If you want to feed cheap coins to the whales, please do so. They may appreciate your help and send you a card.

If it hits below 249 I'm buying back in where I sold off

Curse my weak hands crypto gods i won't be shaken again

forgive me

Not only you sold, many coins purchased at sub $200 prices were switched hands over the past two days.

Now the average holding cost moved up from around $200 (last week) to around $250 (this week).

Keep buying, cause it looks very "sustainable"

Organic Growth

I sold before when it was $306  and bought at $282. Knew they dump on news :/

Lol, did the same, with slightly worse numbers though

I also thought it was a bear trap.

The huge volume over the weekend already washed out almost all cheap coins bought under $200. Don't think there are still tons of profit taking coins to be sold.
